"Told You 'Bout The Seether Before ..."

So today was the day that I broke down and listened to Veruca Salt again. I tend to do this every once in a while because I just can't do it all the time. I *so* love Veruca Salt that it just pains me to think that they are broken up, never to make music again. I'm not going to go into the long-ass story about what they mean to me and how much I love Nina and Louise when they are singing and playing together. Just know that they are most definitely my favorite band and that I would probably renounce any musical allegiance if that is what it would take to get the band back together and recording music.

Anyways, I focused solely on American Thighs, Eight Arms To Hold You and the b-sides from those 2 albums. Here are but a few of the wondrous songs that totally made my day:

The Speed of Candy, Halloween Day (Demo), Straight, Stoneface, Venus Man Trap and Pale Green.

::SIGH:: Just listening to their voices intermingling makes me ache for new Veruca Salt music.

But, that's not going to happen so I'm just going to have to busy myself with other music. PJ Harvey has released exclusive tracks on iTunes called PJ Harvey iTunes Originals. It is a cool little compilation made up of interview snippets and re-recorded versions of some her favorite songs spanning her entire career. I highly suggest that you check out the versions that are on this compilation. If you are at all a fan, I think you'll be happy with what you hear. It sounds like good stuff and the interview snippets are cute. I love Polly's English accent. Now you can understand why I am such a huge fan of iTunes. These songs are unavailable in any other format. There isn't a cd that you can buy.

I was going to download the new Rilo Kiley cd More Adventurous but Erik had to buy the cd so I didn't need to download it. I am quickly becoming a fan of The Postal Service so I'm ingesting as much of this music as I can.

But, don't let all this quality music fool you. Just to prove that I have Ø dignity I also downloaded the new Ryan Cabrera single On The Way Down (both the album version and the acoustic bonus version). I also downloaded the Lindsay Lohan song from the Princess Diaries 2 soundtrack. See, I have no shame.

BTW: NAV Bar Update -- I asked Blogger to remove the bar and they said that it couldn't be removed if they host the blog. I replied that my blog, while hosted on their servers, was upgraded to an Ad-Free account. They replied that they are unsure as to how to handle Ad-Free accounts and would get back to me. So, I took the liberty of disabling the NAV Bar until they give me the final answer. We'll see ...

You Can't Argue With "Free"

I'm not really sure how I'm feeling about the Search NAV Bar across the top of my blog but it looks like it's here to stay. I spent a lot of time in the wee hours figuring out how to publish my blog to my domain but I quickly found out that I don't have enough storage space to host my already sizable blog. So, unless I find a web hosting plan that I can/want to afford or unless I resort to disabling the script that enables the NAV Bar (against TOS) it looks like I'm stuck with Blogger's limitless and FREE hosting services. I guess I can rock the NAV Bar ...

I got a Björk newsletter email that alerted me to the fact that you can order a copy of Medúlla right now and have it sent to you before it goes on sale in stores. I immediately placed my order and eagerly await its arrival. You can order your own copy HERE. Wee!

Additionally, you can go HERE to see an awesome page devoted to the video treatment for Oceania submitted by the Lynne Fox team (the directors of the video). If you haven't seen the video yet, first of all -- what is wrong with you?! Anyways, if you haven't seen the video yet you can do so HERE. It is quite a stunning video, very Björk and very beautiful.

Scott Stereogum has some great pictures of the very color-coordinated Jacksons at his appearance in court yesterday. They almost looked like the Polyphonic Spree.

  • Say it's not so! Britney calls off wedding (?). According to something called NW magazine, Britney furiously calls off her impending nuptials to Kevin. Although Brit angrily declared in the heat of the moment that she doesn’t want to marry Kev anymore, the tension is so bad between the pair speculation is rife they won’t make it down the aisle at all. It's too damn good to be true.
  • Methinks the Phelps hype was waaaaaay too much to live up to. World record holder Thorpe took the Games' big race swimming gold, just ahead of Dutchman Pieter van den Hoogenband ... Phelps, a 19-year-old American who arrived in Athens with a big build-up, was a distant third. He has at least one gold medal and should be thrilled to have it.
  • Fahrenheit 9/11 is set to hit stores on October 5th. Plenty of time for more people to see the movie before the election. Every bit helps in the effort to unseat GWB.
  • Belated birthday wishes to Her Majesty, Madonna. She turned 46 yesterday.
  • Is it "Internet" or "internet"? I'm going with the former because it is a proper noun ... kind of. What do you think?
  • Ever the diligent news source, the Weekly World News (the infamous black and white tabloid that is responsible for the headlines, Bat Child Found In Cave, Satan Escapes From Hell, Titanic Survivors Alive! and more) is reporting that Al Qaeda is planning to drop bombs that will make men gay on impact. EXTREMIST Muslim scientists are developing a bomb that turns anyone within a 30-mile radius of its blast into a homosexual, say U.S. Intelligence insiders. I.have.no.words.except.Hee.Hee. [goss via 2XY.com]
  • In really, really, REALLY bad idea news: Get ready for Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash! Sources said the studio is in negotiations with director-producer Sam Raimi (the "Spider-Man" movies) for a project titled "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash." In the proposed sequel, Freddy (from the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" films) and Jason (from the "Friday the 13th" pics) would go up against Ash, the cynical anti-hero survivor of Raimi's "Evil Dead" trilogy, which also includes "Army of Darkness." Bruce Campbell played the character in the trilogy and would play him again if the deal were to close.
Next up will be Alien vs. Predator vs. Your Mom.
So I guess that's it ... I have to to some Targeting today (I need T.P. for my bunghole) and might go home for a quick visit. I'll holla atcha later.
