Wowzie! The Scissor Sisters were so awesome on this trip back to Detroit. We saw them a few months ago (in June, at The Magic Stick) and they were great then but they were better tonight.
The "opening band" was DJ Sammy Jo and he was the best DJ I've heard in a very long time. His mix was very, very cool -- even Erik was impressed. He played white label mixes of The White Stripes (as soon as this song started, I pointed to him and he smiled and nodded back to me -- D-town love y'all), No Doubt, Deee-Lite, the B-52's and a very cool Star Wars theme megamix AND, I suspect, the new Kylie Minogue song that she recorded with the Scissor Sisters!* He spun for over an hour but it didn't feel that long. DJ Sammy Jo hosts "Tiger Beat" at a New York club called The Slide -- there is a mandatory clothes check upon arrival, everyone must dance in their underwear! I love it!
Anyways, the Sisters ... they rocked so hard. I loved the lights and Jake & Anna were totally on fire. Jake is a hotty (he was wearing unzipped leather pants, woo!) and is so fun and personable onstage. They played a great set (no Electrobix but they did play It Can't Come Quickly Enough) and I had a blast. I was right up front in prime position to take pictures (see the rest of them HERE; remember username: trentsblog password: trentsblog):
Unfortunately, my camera effed up about midway through the show. I later found out that the memory card is corrupted (it has a bad sector that won't allow the camera to write to the card). The point is that I couldn't take as many pictures as I wanted. I finally figured out how to make manual adjustments to the camera so that my concert pictures look better and I couldn't even take a million pictures. I was able to take about 40 and then the card wouldn't allow any more pictures to be written to it. So sadly, I wasn't able to get any pictures with the band after the show I've ordered a new memory card so hopefully this won't be a problem in the future.
If you get a chance to see Scissor Sisters live you better get your ass there. They put on a wicked show. I can't wait for them to come back to the Motor City.
*It has been confirmed that DJ Sammy Jo did, in fact, play the unreleased Kylie/Scissor Sisters song I Believe In You during his set! How cool is that?!

This is really funny AND SCARY! Some weird-o dressed up as Batman was able to infiltrate the security at Buckingham Palace yesterday. Fathers? rights campaigner Jason Hatch, 33, got into the grounds with a ladder then used it to scale a wall. He spent five hours on a 25ft ledge next to the Queen?s front balcony. She was not in. Hello, crazy! I can understand the desire to stand up for Fathers' rights but this is totally the wrong way to go about it. I'm surprised he wasn't shot on sight. What is it with horrible security these days? Geeze ...
In other crazy news, what is up with Eminem and his insatiable desire to be nude all the time? If he's not on German TV flashing his ass, he's on the set of his new video flashing his ass (Click the picture to see the full size). It seems to me that all of his homophobic nonsense is just a mask for how he really feels about same-sex relations. He does more "gay" things than most homosexual celebrities.
And I'm not one for stereotypes but how many straight guys do you know that shave/wax their asses?
Dannii Minogue is set to release the first single off her next album (which is due in early 2005); the song is called You Won't Forget About Me (which you can check out HERE).
Dannii has been answering fan's questions at her official message board, here are a few of her responses:

So this woman I work with came into my cube and was looking at my pics on my wall. She spotted the one of me and you with flowers in our hair @ Cranbrook and said, "Hey - who's the little hottie with the flower? Is that your boyfriend?" hahaha, to which I replied, "no - that's my best friend, THERE'S my boyfriend" pointing to Mark's picture. After saying that Mark is hot too, she said "oh so this guy's up for grabs?" talking about you, and joking around. I said, "no, he's taken - he and his boyfriend just bought a house together...." And then she went, "damn...what a waste to us girls" HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA.
Thought you'd enjoy that... :)
Hee hee, I did enjoy that!

Today will be a very chill day. The Freshmen are on retreat this week so I will not have to teach my class until Friday. My mornings are quiet, just like the good ol' days so I can get work done a little bit at a time. Today is also my early day so I get to leave at 3pm. Woo!
I'm sure you've all heard My Prerogative by now. I'll leave the MP3 link active until the song goes on sale. It's a radio rip so it's not HQ but you get the gist of the song. Personally, I like it. I think it will be a moderate hit for Brit. The much-hyped video premieres on MTV this Thursday ... it should be on the 'Net shortly thereafter.
Here we go again -- P. Diddy is going to resurrect the Making the Band show by putting together a girl group. "We watched P. Diddy work magic with his last group Da Band, who despite their issues working together, still managed to take their very first album gold," said MTV Series Entertainment Executive Vice President Lois Curren. "We can't wait to see what he has in store for us as he forms a girl group in a whole new music genre." Um, didn't he do this before when he created the group Dream? You all remember Dream, right?!
Aw, this is sad -- Actress Tracey Gold, from Growing Pains, was arrested for a DUI recently. I was going to post her mugshot but she looks so sad that I didn't have the heart. You can see for yourself HERE. Gold was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon on Route 118 on September 3 when she lost control of the vehicle. While Gold's husband and two of her sons (ages five and four months) were not seriously injured in the late-night crash, the actress's oldest child, 7-year-old Sage, suffered a broken clavicle and a head laceration. After CHP officers administered sobriety tests, Gold was arrested on the DUI charge, said CHP spokesman Steve Reid. Yikes! She is in a world of trouble ... poor Tracey.
Stereogum has got the skinny on the new Lindsay Lohan single ... check it HERE.
And that's it for today -- I was finally able to procure the BjörkMedúlla bonus track Komið so I'm geeked about that. Also, tonight Erik and I are seeing the Scissor Sisters at St. Andrew's Hall
Woo! That will be a blast I tells ya! I'm sure I'll have pictures to share.
