This Is Your Lucky Day

First off I have to wish all y'all a Happy St. Patrick's Day ... I'm not sure how many of you have already left work to begin your St. Patty's Day celebrations but I hope y'all have a great, safe day:

Here's hopin' the luck of the Irish touches you today, here's hopin' y'all get lucky tonight and here's hopin' that y'all survive the day to tell the tale.

Britney Spears is back on the mainland ... she was spotted in LA yesterday carrying around a pretty big belly (and her cousin was spotted carrying Sean Preston because, you know, Brit doesn't, like, do that herself):

Pleeeeease let that big stomach NOT be filled with a new kid ... please, please, please! I have to admit, I am very disturbed by these pictures -- you can see her protruding belly button in that third picture ... NOT A GOOD SIGN! UPDATE: A few Pink readers are suggesting that we're seeing her belly piercing and not her belly button -- finally a ray of hope! [Source]

Jessica Simpson made a splash in Washington D.C. yesterday where she showed up at a congressional hearing to pledge her support for Operation Smile, a non-profit group that seeks to aid children with facial deformities. Pink readers Katie, Lexie and Crystal sent in these pictures of Jessica as she made her way thru the halls of our nation's capitol:

Wearing a black cardigan and form-fitting black slacks, her bleached-blonde mane swept back into a knot, Simpson ignored shouted press inquiries about the flap, and kept to her message about the transforming power of plastic surgery in the lives of children with disfigured faces ... "Thank you guys so much for coming out today. I'm here to show my support for Operation Smile," Simpson told dozens of reporter and photographers, flashing her own trademark smile ... "It really changed by life and changed my perspective," she said to see the radically-altered visages of children after their surgeries ... "It was truly spiritual," Simpson said, adding: "The purpose of life is to walk through it smiling." Hmmm it's interesting that Jessica is now talking up her cause to champion. Don't get me wrong, I think it's very cool when celebs lend their fame to a worthy cause. The timing seems a bit ... suspicious. Head on over to the Saving Face forum to see lots of pics from the press conference. [thanks Katie, Lexie and Crystal]

At any rate I also commend Jessica for not showing up at that Republican fundraiser. Even tho Papa Joe Simpson contends that "Jessica loves the heck out of him" (him = GWB) I think it was a very wise decision to keep her DC trip all about the cause she's working for ... and not for any other political reason. Good job, Jess!

What do you suppose goes thru Mary-Kate Olsen's head when she wakes up in the morning (afternoon, whatevs) and picks out clothes to wear? I cannot imagine the thought process that comes up with outfits like this:

LOL. That hat ... is ... ridiculous. I love it! [Source]

UPDATE: A few Pink readers are wondering if the girl in this picture is really Mary-Kate Olsen. Even tho the source link reads "Mary-Kate Olsen at Red Rock bar on Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA" there is some doubt:

Says Pink reader Thomas, "I'm pretty sure it's not MK. She would never carry a bag that inexpensive." to which I'd have to respond touché. Is it her? Could it be Ashley or maybe the other sister?! I guess you be the judge.

I don't normally pay attention to Pete Burns (lead singer for Dead Or Alive) even tho he is pretty hard to ignore but something really struck me about these pictures of the lad lass Pete from the London premiere of Basic Instinct II ...

... how in the hell did he manage to steal this outfit from Mariah Carey? Dude, she is gonna be pissed when she finds out. [Source]

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes made a surprise appearance at Angels Stadium to watch Team USA and Team Mexico play a baseball game ... doesn't that just sound like something that TomKat would want to see? Anyways, the lovestruck couple did their best to make a spectacle of themselves ... right in front of Tom's kids ... and on the jumbotron for the entire stadium to watch:

I think it's far too late for Katie Holmes to be TXTing for help ... she's in too deep by now. Isn't she due to give birth, like, today? [Source]

Hilary Duff played a show in her hometown last night at the 2006 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo -- the world's largest rodeo ... Pink reader Mike was there and sends in these pictures:

Now, I have to admit that I don't know much about rodeos but I had no idea that they would put on concerts right after all of the cow viewin' and calf ropin'. As long as those concerts are family friendly (ya hear that Adam Levine?) it looks like cowboys/girls can enjoy their live music along with their rodeoin'. Yee-haw! [Source, thanks Mike]

Hmmm ... I must've missed the memo that Christina Ricci is playing a pig-nosed girl in her new movie Penelope ...

Wait ... what?! How does this make a for a good movie? I'm totally confused. [Source]

Perry Farrell was in Austin, TX to announce the line-up for this year's 3-day Lollapalooza Festival ... homeboy got himself a whole slew of amazing acts for this year's festival:

Kanye West, Death Cab For Cutie, Ryan Adams, Sonic Youth, Panic! At the Disco, The Go! Team and many, many more are scheduled to perform on 8 different stages this August. Damn, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up adding Madonna to the line-up at some point -- everyone is playing Lollapalooza this year. If you are so inclined, you can already buy your tickets at Lollapalooza.com. [Source]

Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum were on hand at the Teen People party earlier this week ... and, thank ye gods, Channing shaved off all of that bad hair he was sportin':

Oh yeah, he looks much better. [Source]

BUT, I think he looked better still back before he was a famous model/actor. Check out these pictures of a then-unknown Chan Tatum from photographer Terry Estep's website:

If you at all care to read about this photoshoot with Channing from back in the summer of 1998 then you can do so HERE. It's a very interesting read ... but personally, I'm more about the pictures myself. Enjoy! [Source via Source]

Kristin Davis is on the cover of the new issue of Shop Etc. magazine and she is lookin' pretty fly:

I have to admit, I have zero interest in seeing her new movie The Shaggy Dog but she is a cutie nonetheless. And yes, it does appear that she is wearing the same dress that Jennifer Aniston is wearing in her new Vogue photospread. [Source]

Here are a few pictures of Ryan Reynolds from his recent photoshoot with Men's Health magazine ... I believe that a few of them are previously unseen:

Yeah, I'm always down with posting pictures of Ryan. [Source]

And finally, here are a few new pictures from X-Men III: The Last Stand:

I love how dramatic Halle Berry is in her role as Storm. You know she is putting those Oscar winning talents to good use. Bring it on ... I'm ready! [Source]

Newstime:
While I was hanging out with Tracey, Kristy and Zakiya in Ann Arbor I noticed that the State Theater was showing the movie Night Watch. I've been reading about this movie for months now but was unaware that it was being released in US theaters. I found a theater on my side of town that was showing the film and went out to see it last night:

I was afraid that the movie would get pulled since a bunch of new movies were opening today ... I am so glad that I caught this film. It's being billed as a horror film but I would not categorize it as such ... it's more sci-fi and fantasy than horror (even tho there are some gory parts). Right off the bat I loved the cool special effects. The story is very mythic and grand and is well-told -- some things were a bit unclear at first but I attribute that to the fact that movie was subtitled (it's a Russian film). Speaking of the captions ... they did such a good job incorporating the captions into the film. They weren't just text at the bottom of the screen, they were oftentimes incorporated into the action on the screen. This movie is what Underworld wishes it was ... and I really loved the duel plots that turned out to be more touching than I anticipated. I was very satisfied with the ending ... and since this is the first part of a trilogy of films I am very anxious for the next installment. OH and there is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer cameo in the film ... I died! So.Freaking.Cool! If you are interested in checking out this film I'd look around now before it goes away for good ... or you can watch the entire movie in 2 1/2 minutes right HERE.

Um ... it's St. Patrick's Day and I'm not drunk yet ... what the eff is goin' on here?! I keed, I keed ... I'm meeting up with Sarah, Mark and Mike G. to do some Irish celebratin' this evening. I hope y'all have a great day and a great weekend ... I'm out.

Scratch & Sniff

You know what ... Britney Spears doesn't think that you smell enough. She wants to be the person to help you out with that. First she blessed the world with her first fragrance Curious ... and then came Fantasy ... and now she bestows upon us her latest concoction -- In Control:

I can't wait to smell it! [Source]

You know what is really great for hyping the sales of a new fragrance ... good old fashioned buzz ... Britney knows that by getting her name in the news her new fragrance will fly off those Wal-Mart shelves like there is no tomorrow. Did you hear that Britney Spears was rushed to the hospital recently?

Britney Spears had to be rushed to hospital after treading on a hypodermic needle ... The pop babe - who is on holiday in Hawaii - had stepped out of her car without shoes on when she trod on the needle in a parking lot ... The panic-stricken star was taken to Hawaii State Hospital, but tests showed the needle was unused ... A source is quoted in Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying: "Britney is going to be fine. She's got a nasty cut but it's been disinfected and dressed and she's been released from hospital ... "It was more the shock of seeing the needle poking out of her foot - as you can imagine. All sorts of things race through your mind in that situation. The conclusion we would all jump to is that it was discarded by a drug user ... "Britney was distraught but brave."

You've gotta commend our dear, brave Britney. [thanks Dave]

Oh and the word on the street is that Brit Brit is seriously being considered for mother of the year:

[Britney] changed Junior's diaper in the middle of a busy restaurant. According to Britain's News of the World newspaper, one diner said, "It was disgusting. Someone else has got to eat at that table. Yuck." But then the manager noted, "It's Britney Spears. What can we do?"

MMMMMMM ... delicious. I'm gonna place my order for Britney Spears: In Control right now!

Sarah Michelle Gellar was on hand for the launch of AOL's new venture In2TV at the Museum of Television and Radio last night in Hollywood:

In2TV is a new resource where you can watch old school TV shows online for free. Get this ... you can watch full episodes of Alice, Head of the Class, Perfect Strangers and V! V people! That rules all! Oh yeah ... SMG looked great ... but yeah, old school TV shows rule! [Source]

My heart is always warmed by the kindness of strangers ... check out this really nice guy trying to help out this poor homeless-looking girl:

I am so touched. [Source]

It is my sad duty to report that Phil Collins and his wife Orianne, who were married in 1999, are splitting up ... they're dunzo, y'all:

"They have been living separately since the beginning of the year and both cite the fact that they have been growing apart for some time now and this has put too much pressure on their relationship," the statement said ... "Consequently, they have decided in the interests of their two children that it is better to separate. They are both very sad that it should come to this but have as their priority the welfare and happiness of their children and are determined to remain friends and be loving parents to them." What a bummer ... this does not bode well for the upcoming kickball season. [Source]

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a very good-looking man ... usually ... check out these pictures of the chap at the 100 Year Anniversary Celebration of Monte Blanc:

Uh, doesn't it look like he's about to strangle someone? Yikes! [Source]

Hey ... who is this mysterious woman holding hands with Vince Vaughn in Aspen, Colorado?

Wandering around Aspen, Colorado, the little and large pair were papped in full-on fingers-linked mode. Yes, yes ... but who is that mysterious woman? OH, it's Jennifer Aniston: [When] Jen spotted the cameras and tried to pretend she wasn't one of the most famous faces in the world, by covering her chin in a scarf. Bless. And she took some crafty side-steps away from Vince-y. That Aniston ... she is soooo tricky. [Source]

Pete Doherty has got himself a whole slew of problems ... unfortch I don't have the time to list them all ... how about we just check out his most recent dilemma:

These are unfortunate times for Pete Doherty ... It all started when Pete was nipping out to the chemist to pick up a few bits. He was trailed by a pesky photographer, keen to snap whatever was wrong with Pete's chin as he tried to hide it. Next he had a spot of trouble getting back to his car and had to get through some railings (did he park in a school?). Finally, to top it all off, by the time he'd Indiana Jones-d his way back to the motor, Pete discovered someone had smashed the back window. I hear he's got a little prob with the narcotics as well ... but I think that's a totally unconfirmed rumor. [Source]

Sharon Stone appeared at a photocall for her new movie Basic Instinct 2 in London, England:

You know ... with a wee little tweaking she could be the spitting image of ...

... the scary-mask dude in Natalie Portman's new movie V For Vendetta:

Hmmm ... yeah ... I think so. How insane is it that the masked man has more creases in his face than Sharon Stone has! Botox is a true gift from the gods. [Source]

Pink reader Kate was lucky enough to catch Morrissey in concert this past Monday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma of all places ... she sends in these 2 pictures:

The Mozzer then played a show in Oklahoma City on Tuesday night ... these 2 shows were, I presume, warm up shows for his SXSW gig tonight. I am so excited for Morrissey's new album. Make sure you visit his official My Space profile on March 21 to hear his new album Ringleader of the Tormentors in its entirety. [thanks Kate]

Jordan Knight and Debbie Gibson are teaming up to record a duet in the hopes that their combined star power will garner enough attention so that they can afford to buy some groceries:

TMZ.com has video footage of this momentous event ... if any of y'all care. [Source]

US Weekly is really talking up the rumored romance betwixt Nick Lachey and Kristin Cavallari, yet again, in the new issue of their magazine:

LOL. I.Love.It. I hope they hook up just for the mere fact that I can start calling them LaCavallari ... or maybe Cavachey? [Source]

Er ... I really think that someone really needs to tell Josh Hartnett to stop getting make-up tips from Xtina Aguilera ... check out these pictures of Josh from the new issue of V Man magazine:

Someone also needs to tell him that he could use a little tweezing between those eyebrows. [Source]

Here are a few newish pictures from the new movie Superman Returns:

I love that Parker Posey is playing Kitty Kozlowski opposite Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor. I really like that they made Ma and Pa Kent old ... and I think Brandon Routh will make a great Supes. I'm still not feelin' Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane ... but I suppose we'll see how it all turns out. [Source]

And finally ... what's better than a little game of Guess the Thong to finish out the day? Can you guess who this luscious thong belongs to? Go ahead ... lean in close and inspect the photo before you click on it to find out the answer:

Click above to see who this thong belongs to

Remember, I <3 all y'all :) XO [Source]

The News:
Yesterday evening I made the trek all the way out to Ann Arbor to meet up with Tracey, Kristy and my precious little Zakiya. Tracey wanted my advice on a new pair of glasses so we picked a pair out for her ... but the real star of the whole event was baby Z tryin' out my new sunglasses:

Hello ... will you look at all of those teeth?! AND she's got 2 more coming in on the bottom ... she is just amazing! The 4 of us had a really great time just hangin' out. Today Tracey and Zakiya are flying down to Nashville to hang out with other friends of ours.

It has gotten cold around here again ... but thankfully none of that evil white stuff has returned ... I'm just crossing my fingers that it won't return again for the rest of the season.

That is all, Lates!
