No Day But Today

Let's try and have some fun today ... shall we? Actually I am hearing that all the fun this weekend was at Webster Hall in NYC for the Kevin Federline performance that went down Saturday night. I've been hearing from a few people that it wasn't that bad at all and despite the small number in attendance, K-Fed put on a show entertaining enough to keep the audience interested. Here are a few photos sent in by Pink readers Leonardo and Wendy who were lucky enough to catch K-Fed's show on Saturday night:

Pink reader Keri says that "NEW YORK LOVEDDDD HIM" and Aimee writes: The crowd really got into it when he had us all stick our middle fingers in the air and chant "F*ck K-Fed". People were holding up signs and taking pictures the entire time, the bartenders were dancing on the bars (they had 2 open for us) and people were dancing around since there was definitely space to do so. K-fed even did a short dance break with his dancers (ode to his dancer days) and the crowd went wild. And at the end of the show everyone was screaming "one more set" and he came back on and performed another song. Everyone knew what to expect going in so they seemed to have a good time. Sylvia had a good time too, but not because of his performance: He sounded like some white guy trying to rap along with a karaoke version of a rap song. It was sooo bad, I felt so embarrassed for Britney. He's not even cute. The best part of the night was the contact high I got from K-Fed's posse who had no reservations about sparking up a few joints. Interesting. Personally, I'll hold off judgment until I hear/see him for myself but I guess I'm a little surprised that it seemed to go off as well as it did. And look at that ... the world didn't come to an end. [thanks Leonardo and Wendy]

Yesterday evening Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett and others were on hand for the Hollywood Premiere of the new movie Babel ... here are a few photos from the red carpet:

Brad was lookin' pretty good and Cate was looking very regal. I'm suddenly reminded of the insane sex dream I had of Cate Blanchett last week ... believe me, you don't want to know ... [Source]

... Pink readers Alizabeth and Jean were lucky enough to get a fan perspective at the Babel premiere and send in these pictures to share with all of us:

Alizabeth writes: a blue Prius rolled up. We were all wondering who comes to a huge movie premiere in a Prius ... BRAD PITT DOES! As soon as we saw the back of his gorgeous head, all hell broke loose. He came over and went down the whole row of fans signing everyone's autograph. One guy was giving Brad a bad time, but he just shrugged it off and was thanking everyone and being really gracious. I've heard from people he is a jerk, but I guess Angelina brings out the nice in him, because he was so courteous. He spent a long time signing autographs for everyone. Cate Blanchett only signed about eight. But she was so pretty it almost made up for it. Brad didn't stop to pose for individual pictures because that would have taken all night. But he is maybe even hotter in person than in pictures and movies, if that is even possible. And he was so close! Less than arm's length away! Le sigh! I don't know what I would do if I were that close to Brad Pitt. Sounds like a great time. I've been hearing amazing things about this movie ... I am very anxious to see it for myself. [thanks Alizabeth and Jean]

While Brad Pitt was bizzy here in LA promoting his new movie, Angelina Jolie was bizzy herself doing her UN Goodwill Ambassador work in India ... here are a few pics:

The poor dear looks wrecked. It's great that she's devoting so much time to her work but she looks like she could use a rest. [Source]

Speaking of needing a rest, here are a few pictures of Lance Armstrong running the NY Marathon this past weekend (sent in by Pink readers Katie and Beth) and then a photo of Lance just after he finished his run -- he confessed that this marathon run was the "hardest physical thing [he's] have ever done":

Lance Armstrong, who knows a thing or two about tough competition, got more of a challenge than he expected Sunday when he ran the ING New York City Marathon. "For the level of condition that I have now, that was without a doubt the hardest physical thing I have ever done," the seven-time Tour de France winner said after the race, according to the Associated Press. "I never felt a point where I hit the wall. It was really a gradual progression of fatigue and soreness." Armstrong, 35, placed 856th in a field of more than 35,000 runners. His goal was to run the five-borough course in less than three hours – a feat he accomplished, though barely, crossing the finish line in 2:59:36. Lance Armstrong is one tough mothereffer. I don't think there is any physical goal that he cannot accomplish if he puts his mind to it. Congrats on reaching your goal and for inspiring us all. [Source, thanks Katie & Beth]

Madonna has wrapped up her media appearance duties and has already flown back home, with her children, to London ... here is a picture of Madonna and little David as they made their way thru JFK International aiport on their way home yesterday:

David Banda, dressed in designer gear, was cuddled by his superstar mum at JFK airport before the family boarded a flight to Heathrow. The 13-month-old has now clocked up 16,000 air miles since leaving Malawi. He has flown to London, New York and back to the capital. Before his adoption, the furthest he went was from his dad's home to an orphanage. I believe he's already clocked enough frequent flyer travel miles for a free upgrade to enjoy complementary champagne in his sippy cup. [Source]

As Madonna made her way home to London, Miss Kylie Minogue made her way home to Sydney, Australia to relaunch her concert tour entitled Showgirl Homecoming:

Kylie is glowing! She looks absolutely thrilled to be back in OZ. I am so excited that she's getting back on the concert stage. I wish that I could see her perform myself but just knowing that she's getting back to work is good enough. I can't wait to see and hear all about it when the tour kicks off this coming Saturday. [Source]

It would seem that Shanna Moakler isn't having any second thoughts about her separation from her soon to be ex-husband Travis Barker ... here are a few photos of Shanna in Las Vegas with her anti-wedding cake:

Yikes! Bitter party of one ... your table is ready. [Source, Source]

I somehow doubt that Travis is losing any sleep over Shanna's ridiculousness ... after all, he has his friend Paris Hilton to help keep his mind occupied:

It looks as if Travis is trying to crawl inside of Paris' mouth ... or is it the other way around ... ugh ... it's actually kinda hard to look at for very long. [Source]

Eric Braeden plays bad-ass Victor Newman on the soap opera The Young and the Restless ... it would seem that Eric shares Victor's pissy temper in real life as well:

Click HERE to watch a short video of Eric cussing out a female paparazzo. Can I just say that it's funny as hell to hear Victor Newman cuss someone out? I've always wanted him to say something like this on the show ... LOL! [Source]

And finally, Pink reader Andy sends in these awesome screencaps of pop band McFly on a British music show called Pop World ... apparently the theme for the interview was Swedish Sauna and, well, the boys got a little nekkid:

Okay ... they got a lot nekkid ... or so it would seem. It's hard to tell if they're faking it with all the blurs but ... somehow it doesn't really matter, now does it? Cute! [thanks Andy]

Les News:
Last night I was in dire need of distraction so I decided to go see the movie The Queen. I've been hearing how good it is so I thought I'd check it out for myself:

I was immediately struck by how much the story of Queen Elizabeth reminded me of Marie Antoinette ... in that the monarchy is very removed from the common folk. All the scenes at Balmoral reminded me of the scenes at Versailles in Marie Antoinette. I am so fascinated by royalty ... I had no idea that royal protocols were still so stringent. With the way the Queen's inner circle is portrayed, you'd think she was still living in 1920. Helen Mirren's portrayal of Elizabeth was impeccable. She was truly amazing to watch. The interspersed usage of real media footage within the movie made it all seem so real. I dunno where they found that actor who looks exactly like Tony Blair but kudos to him as well. The movie revolves around the week that Princess Diana was killed in 1997 and is an extremely interesting take on what went down behind the scenes. I loved the movie. I fully expect Mirren to get herself an Academy Award nomination for her performance.

I wasn't able to post these fun pictures from Saturday night yesterday but we all had so much fun early on in the evening that I just wanted to share my beautiful friends Sarah, Adriana, Brian, Gary and Kyle in today's post:

The Derby Dolls were awesome! I've never seen real-live roller derby before but you better believe I'll go back for more. Those girls are hardcore ... we had a blast. I also got to meet Pink readers Jessica and Ingrid at the game.

The girls have great roller derby names (my friend Adriana is called Furious Georgette) and I was lucky enough to get a picture with Paris Kill-ton. So fun! I spent part of the time thinking up new names for any potential roller derby girls out there ... names like:

Danity Pain
Buffy the Vamp Slayer
PenalTina
Skate or Die-ana
Terror Reid
She Wants Revenge
Tyra Spanks
Gory Amos

;)

Last thing ... it was so great having Sarah here with me for the long weekend ... we had a blast together ... and even tho we shared a pretty traumatic experience together, I know I can always count on her to have my back, to offer her love and support ... and she can always count on me to post fun pictures of her on my blog:

These are but two pictures of the many that she took on my MacBook computer. It's cool, she said I could post them ... tho, I prolly would've anyways.

Love your friends, y'all. Appreciate them while you can because you never know what could happen. Peace and be well. I'm out.

Today

I really went back and forth about blogging today. My friends and I witnessed such a horrible tragedy that I just didn't know that I felt like being funny or having fun with my blog today. But I've decided that this blog is such a part of me now that I just couldn't abandon it.

That said, I think I am going to take it easy for a while ... at least for today. If anything, I hope that because this blog has become so high profile that maybe the hit and run driver who is responsible for killing one person and injuring another will be found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

THIS is the news report on the fatal hit and run accident that my friends and I witnessed late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. Altho the report is light on details, I'm hoping that maybe someone out there saw something later on that night or knows something about the driver:

A 22-year-old woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver Sunday while walking in Hollywood and her friend was seriously injured, police said.

The woman, who was thrown about 50 feet on impact, has not been identified. Luke Coffee, 27, was seriously injured when the pair were hit in the 6100 block of Franklin Avenue at about 1:45 a.m. The pedestrians -- both residents of Los Angeles -- were crossing Franklin Avenue northbound at Vista Del Mar Avenue when a vehicle heading east on Franklin struck both of them, said Los Angeles police Detective Greg Davis of the West Traffic Division.

The motorist, driving a dark-colored, four-door sedan, was last seen driving eastbound on Franklin Avenue, Davis said. The car is believed to be relatively new, made between 2002 and 2005, he said.

Coffee and the woman were transported to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where the woman died shortly after arrival. The condition of Coffee was not immediately known.

The suspect's vehicle sustained right front-end damage and was missing the right side passenger door mirror.

Anyone with any information regarding the case was asked to call the West Traffic Division at 213-473-0234.

It's a terrible long shot, but if anyone knows anything more about this driver I implore you to call the Police. The LAPD posted THIS on their site asking for more information from potential witnesses that have yet to come forward.

I am extremely happy to report that I've gotten word from friends of Luke that he is doing fairly well considering the extent of his injuries and is expected to fully recover. I've also recieved information from the woman's friends. I'm not comfortable releasing her name at this time. All of my thoughts and prayers are with the couple's family and friends.

I am planning on posting today but prolly not until later on. I have decided to remove the comments section completely. I don't know when or if I will restore the comments section. In recent weeks, it has become a breeding ground for such negativity that I just think it's best to close it down. I just couldn't handle some idiot making a horrible comment on this tragedy or about anyone involved. It makes me sick, but I've already received pretty callous messages from just yesterday's post. But overwhelmingly, I have been receiving very positive and supportive messages and I thank you all for those.

I'll be back. I promise.

---

UPDATE: The LAPD updated their website -- the alleged driver was arrested: On November 5, 2006, at approximately 3:30 P.M., Hollywood Area detectives arrested 30-year-old Manuel Eric Munera on suspicion of Felony Hit and Run causing great bodily harm or death. The arrest came after Munera called Hollywood desk personnel with detailed knowledge of the accident. The car involved in the accident was impounded for investigation.

I hope it is of some consolation to the victims' family and friends that an arrest has been made.

---

UPDATE 2: More information on the accident and subsequent arrest can be found in THIS news report: An alleged hit-and-run driver suspected of fatally striking a young woman and seriously injuring a man in Hollywood posted $50,000 bail Monday on a promise to appear in court later this month. Manuel Munera, 30, of Los Angeles was arrested late Sunday afternoon and booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, said Detective Greg Davis of the Los Angeles Police Department's West Traffic Division. Munera is scheduled to appear at the Criminal Courts Building in downtown Los Angeles on Nov. 28, Davis said ... Sunday afternoon, Munera called police "and said he might have hit something" with his car, Davis said. Detectives arrested him and recovered the alleged hit-and-run vehicle: a silver 2003 Toyota Corolla.

The news report also reveals the woman's name ... may she rest in peace.
