ComingHome

Well now ... who would have guessed that Kevin Federline actually had any work ethic to speak of? It's becoming evident that K-Fed actually does know how to work and is pretty much doing any job that comes his way in order to make whatever money he can since having the purse strings cut off by his soon-to-be ex-wife Britney Spears. Pink reader Peter sends in this screencap of an upcoming episode of the new NBC game show 1 vs. 100 that features our very own Kevin Federline:

I don't think The Federline is smart enough to appear as a contestant so I think he's gonna hafta just make due with the appearance fee that NBC is paying him. The game show airs new episodes starting December 1 so we'll have to be on the look-out for his appearance. I'm sure it won't be long until K-Fed has to go back to backup dancing to support himself (and his 4 kids!) but in the meantime, it's good that he's doing these odd jobs to keep himself afloat. Have you got a bar mitzvah or a wedding reception coming up? Give him a call ... I don't think he'd turn down any job right now. [thanks Peter]

I can't *wait* until tomorrow night ... I will get my first (and prolly only chance) to see K-Fed live in concert when he plays the House of Blues in LA. Pink reader Jamie has some inside intel that reveals that Kevin absolutely refuses to cancel tomorrow's HoB show despite the abysmal ticket sales. They are now giving away tickets in order to make the venue appear less empty. Yeah, I'm pretty excited for this show :)

ATTENTION: HEROES SPOILER ALERT WARNING

Okay ... I gotta say that I am totally loving the new show Heroes on NBC. I've been watching since its debut and have done a recap or two but last night's episode was just so good that I think I'm gonna have to commit to recapping my thoughts on the show on a weekly basis. My problem is that I don't always get to watch the show when it airs on Mondays (I DVR it and watch it later) but I'm gonna try and commit to watching it every Monday night ... if only to know what happens as soon as it happens! Okay ... so, seriously, last night's ep, titled Homecoming, ruled! There were a lot of new developments (for me, at least) and by the end of the ep I was literally screaming for more:

I ended up having a pizza party with Sarah and Mark at their place last night and I got there just in time to catch Heroes. They've never seen the show before but, God bless 'em, they were up for letting me watch it. So, the big question for me is whether or not the prophesy Save the Cheerleader, Save the World was fulfilled or not. We got to see what Peter had to do in order to save the cheerleader (ie. it appeared that he would have to die in order to save her) and we saw him do it anyway (I love that his power [which is the exact power that Rogue from X-Men possesses) is the ability to temporarily absorb another person's power -- which allowed him to "die" for Claire and still manage to repair himself and live). I don't remember learning that Peter figured out that this was his power before last night's ep but it was a great revelation for me. Another new revelation for me was that Eden (the girl who cozied up to Mohinder initially and then stole away Issac for the very creepy Mr. Bennett) also has powers ... which appear to be mind control. Now we know how she managed to get Issac to pack up his stuff in NYC and just go away with her. Mohinder finally figured out the codeword to get into his father's program and now he has a list of people with superpowers ... which I'm sure the government agency that Mr. Bennett appears to be working for would be very interested in (if they don't have it already). Ahh ... there is so much to talk about ... it looks like we're gonna find out next week what happened to Hiro when he went back in time to try and help save Charlie (actually, maybe we'll see what was going on with every one in the past since the ep is titled 6 Months Earlier). It's nice to see that actor Zachary Quinto, who co-starred with Tori Spelling on her VH1 "realityesque" show So noTORIous and plays Sylar, found work after working with Tori Spelling ... now if she could only do the same. I'm also glad that bitchy cheerleader got the top of her head sawed off ... she kinda deserved it. Wooo! I love this show. It's far more engaging than Lost is, I actually look forward to these new eps. [Source]

Denzel Washington, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Christina Ricci and others were on hand for the Hollywood premiere of the new movie Deja Vu ... here are a few pics from the red carpet:

I'm not sure why Deja Vuing is so hot right now but we got this new movie and the Taye Diggs TV show Daybreak which both seem to deal with the same subject matter. I caught the trailer of Deja Vu (which explains that the phenomenon is controlled by the government) and initially thought it was an interesting premise ... but I doubt that I'll check it out. I do love Denzel so I hope it does well tho :) [Source, Source]

What do Jennifer Lopez, Claire Danes and the free clinic of LA all have in common ... well, it's prolly not what you think. Jenny Lo and Claire were among the celebs who showed up for the LA Free Clinic Annual Dinner in Beverly Hills last night:

First off, props to all the celebs who showed up for this event. I'm actually surprised that J. Lo deigned to grace this event with her presence -- but it's awesome that she did. Jen looked amazing in that red dress -- she looked much better in that than in the thing she wore to the TomKat wedding over the weekend. Claire always looks cute. I heart her! Yay for the free clinic! [Source, Source]

Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe stunned the world at a press conference that he called yesterday to announce that he was retiring from competitive swimming. Here are a few pics from his shocking press conference:

Australian Olympic superstar Ian Thorpe, regarded as one of the greatest swimmers of all time, announced that he was retiring from his record-breaking career at the age of 24 ... The powerful "Thorpedo," who won legions of fans around the world as he raced in his trademark black bodysuit to nine Olympic medals and 13 world championship medals, said he had realised there was more to life than swimming. After facing injury, illness and questions about his motivation ahead of the Beijing Olympics in 2008, Thorpe said a training stint in Los Angeles this year had focused his mind on his future as a man, rather than as a swimmer. "As I got fit physically my mind also got fit, I started asking a lot of questions. I started looking at myself not only as a swimmer but as a person," he told a news conference. "Another way to look at it is you can swim lap after lap staring at a black line and all of a sudden you look up and see what's around you. That's what it feels like to me" ... Thorpe, who has an interest in fashion and his own underwear line, said he had not yet made any decision about his future, but would retain "some role" in swimming and was involved in plans for an Australian television show. "I have a number of different opportunities with what direction I'm going to go. I haven't picked up the newspaper to look for a job. But if anyone's got any good ones for an ex-Olympic swimmer..." he joked ... "I've reached all of the dizzying heights of this profession. I've had all of the success that I never thought would happen for myself, and for all of that I'm extremely appreciative." He added: "I'm happy with what I've done. I'm happier now than I've ever been." [Source]

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I don't know shizz about competitive swimming (other than the fact that I like the swimwear) but even I've heard of the talents of Ian Thorpe. It's just amazing to me that a person can retire at 24 ... he still has his whole life in front of him:

It sounds like Ian is happy with his decision ... I will miss seeing pictures of Mr. Thorpedo dripping around pools in his skintight swimwear but hey ... the dude's gotta do what he's gotta do.

Paris Hilton, fresh from her European trip, is back in California hard at work doing further promo at a Macy's in San Francisco for her new fragrance called Heiress:

She appears awfully proud of this particular scent ... you don't suppose it smells like THIS do you? Just wondering ... [Source]

Lindsay Lohan has finally come to the decision that she is going to be fur-free from now on:

From People: a PETA spokesperon tells us that the actress seems to have had a change of heart after seeing the organization's anti-fur window displays at Topshop in London. During her whirlwind week there -- which included the Casino Royale after party and hosting the World Music Awards -- she was seen wearing a white fake fur jacket and an anti-fur button on her hat. Hmm ... I'd say that judging by recent pictures of Miss Lohan, she's been fur-free for quite some time now. [Source]

Michael Richards, who was exposed by TMZ going off on a racist rant at the Laugh Factory over the weekend, appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman last night trying to apologize and explain his actions ... I, for one, was uninterested in his feeble attempt to back peddle and found his apology severely lacking:

The following transcript comes from CBS:

Letterman: "Why don't you explain exactly what happened for the folks who may not know."

Richards: "I lost my temper on stage. I was at a comedy club trying to do my act and I got heckled and I took it badly and went into a rage and said some pretty nasty things to some Afro-Americans, a lot of trash talk, and uh ..."

Letterman: "And you were actually being heckled or were they just talking and disturbing the act?"

Richards: "That was going on too."

Richards: " ... You know, I'm really busted up over this and I'm very, very sorry to those people in the audience, the blacks, the Hispanics, whites -- everyone that was there that took the brunt of that anger and hate and rage and how it came through, and I'm concerned about more hate and more rage and more anger coming through, not just towards me but towards a black/white conflict. There's a great deal of disturbance in this country and how black feel about what happened in Katrina, and, you know, many of the comics, many of performers are in Las Vegas and New Orleans trying to raise money for what happened there, and for this to happen, for me to be in a comedy club and flip out and say this crap, you know, I'm deeply, deeply sorry. And I'll get to the force field of this hostility, why it's there, why the rage is in any of us, why the trash takes place, whether or not it's between me and a couple of hecklers in the audience or between this country and another nation, the rage ..."

Letterman: "But Michael, let me interrupt here for a second and ask a question about had the people doing the heckling or the people who were not paying attention, had they been white or Caucasian or any other race, what would have been the nature of your response then?"

Richards: "It may have happened. It may have happened. You know, I'm a performer. I push the envelope; I work in a very uncontrolled manner onstage. I do a lot of free association, it's spontaneous, I go into character. I don't know, in view of the situation and the act going where it was going, I don't know, the rage did go all over the place. It went to everybody in the room. But you can't -- you know it's, I don't – I know people could, blacks could feel – I'm not a racist, that's what so insane about this, and yet it's said, it comes through, it fires out of me and even now in the passion that's here as I confront myself."

I love how people who say they aren't "racist" only do so after they are caught using horrible racist epithets. If you have this kind of vocabulary at your ready disposal and it just comes out in a "passionate" moment then I'm of the mind that you're pretty racist. I don't think I've ever paid any attention to Michael Richards before this incident and I doubt that I will think of him much from here on out. If you're interested you can watch video of his insanely offensive rant HERE and clips of his pathetic apology HERE. [Source, Source]

Sarah makes it a point to DVR every single episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show and does her best to get me to watch them with her whenever we hang out ... thankfully, yesterday worked out for both of us. Here are a few pics from yesterday's episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show that featured the incredible cast of the new movie Dreamgirls:

The show was awesome, tho I was more interested in watching Jennifer Hudson perform than Beyonce. B did a great job but she really pales, IMHO, next to Jennifer Hudson. Oprah spent the hour going apeshizz over the movie and normally I find her over-the-top comments annoying but this time I had to agree with them. I can't wait to see the movie again! [Source]

The new commercial for Hilary Duff's new fragrance With Love has hit the InterWeb and I actually quite like it. As far as perfume commercials go, this one is pretty damn good:

The commercial features a new song also titled With Love and is going to be on her new album which should be released in early '07. Sure, this stuff is going to be sold on Wal-Mart shelves right next to Britney Spears Curious but at least the commercial is pretty dope. [Source]

The Madonna adoption saga continues to grow ... not only are there reports that Madonna is looking to adopt another child but now there are reports that Madonna was going to adopt a Malawian girl before she fell in love with David Banda. Here is a pic of what the little girl looks like:

Malawian officials revealed the singer had been planning to adopt 18-month-old Jessica Kondanani before choosing David Banda after discovering how ill he was. They still expect her to return to the impoverished African country to formalise her adoption of Jessica, who was found abandoned under a bush. However her plans are likely to be thwarted because an Australian couple are already in the middle of adopting the youngster. Australian missionaries Angela and John Wilmot spoke of their fears that their plans could be put in jeopardy by the 48-year-old pop queen. Madonna recently revealed that she plans to adopt a baby girl as soon as possible, and they have been told she was referring to Jessica. Whoops! I'm not sure how much of this I believe but if it's true, I doubt that Madonna is going to get invovled with another adoption fight of this magnitude when she's yet to win custody of little David. I guess we'll see if Maddy does decide to adopt another baby at some point soon. [Source]

And finally, here are a couple posters for the new horror movie Black Christmas ... first up we have the not-so scary US version of the poster ... and right below it the more gruesome international version:

Yes, that's Michelle Trachtenberg with her eyes gouged out in that second pic. I quite like the international poster better since it's pretty representative of the movie it's promoting. Plus, it's also kinda what I feel like doing to myself whenever I come across creepy pics of Kimberly Stewart. [Source, Source]

Les News:
My Detroit trip has come to an end ... I'm flying back to LA in a couple of hours so I have to wrap this up quick. It was so great being home again, if only for a few days ... I might have to come back again for Xmas even tho I said I wasn't gonna. I just don't want to take my family and friends for granted. We'll see ...

One last thing ... I have to wish a very Happy Birthday to my darling Clariza who is celebrating today ... do it up for me, girl!

That is all ... I am out!
