Note Worthy

Hot Damn! New York Fashion Week got just a little more country this week with the surprise arrival of Britney Spears into the Big Apple. While everyone thought that Britney would be holed up in the studio in Las Vegas working furiously on her comeback album, Brit surprised pretty much everyone by emerging in NYC to partake of the various Fashion Week events going on around town. Britney, with her date and manager Larry Rudolph, attended the Baby Phat fashion show and Brit Brit did her best to fit in with all the true fasionistas in the hizzy ... which, of course, meant that she was walking around with the tag on her couture dress showing thru for all the world to see:

Just days after she made headlines for her potty hopping trip across Las Vegas, Britney Spears was captured in front of the world's media wearing a rather revealing dress. Britney flew from Vegas to New York Thursday evening as a special guest of Kimora Lee Simmons at the designer's Baby Phat show which helped kick off Fashion Week. After taking off a sleek black jacket while passing a photographer line at New York Fashion Week, it was revealed that the pop star had become the victim of every female shopper's nightmare – the price tag was still attached to her dress. LOL! Even more horrifying ... I wouldn't be surprised if that tag was from Target! LOL!!!!! [Source, Source]

Well ... at least she tried ... I can appreciate that the girl did her best to clean herself up for a classy event like this. Here are a few photos from the backstage area of the Baby Phat show where Kimora Lee Simmons was posing with both Britney and (one of my other fave divas) Lil' Kim:

Even tho Kimora was lookin' more mannish than usual, Lil' Kim was lookin' cute as hell! Whoever thought up the brilliant idea to use her hair to cover up her horrid eyebrows should be given a medal. Kim looks amazing like this ... even if her flappy boobie looks like it wants to come out and say hi. Love it! [Source]

But, while Miss Britney is soaking up the fashion in NYC her estranged husband Kevin Federline (who was just recently in NYC as well) has moved on to Miami, FL to partake of all the football fun for Super Bowl weekend:

I remember how amazing this weekend was last year when Detroit Rock City hosted the Super Bowl so I know there is a lot of fun to be had. Even tho we already got to see the 30-second Nationwide Insurance commercial featuring Kevin Federline online I'm still very much interested in seeing the full-length commercial when it airs during the Super Bowl tomorrow night. See ... all it took for K-Fed to win my true love and affection was for him to get a divorce from Britney. [Source]

There is a bit of sad news to be had today ... yesterday afternoon word broke that Alanis Morissette and Ryan Reynolds broke off their engagement ... it looks like the pair are finally dunzo for good:

Ryan Reynolds and Alanis Morissette have called it quits – and this time, it's official. Their reps, Dvora Vener and Meredith O'Sullivan, tell PEOPLE in a joint statement, "Ryan Reynolds and Alanis Morissette have mutually decided to end their engagement. "They remain close friends and continue to have the utmost love and admiration for each other. They ask that their privacy be respected surrounding this personal matter." Morissette, 32, and Reynolds, 30, had previously split in June, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE at the time, but within weeks they were seen walking in Vancouver, holding hands in L.A. and, on Oct. 1, kissing in New York City. I was very happy when these two got back together after their short break-up last June. I really love these two together ... they seemed an odd pair at first but really seemed to be very much in love with one another. It's not like we can even take comfort in the fact that super hot Ryan is single ... it's just a bummer all around. [Source]

In, perhaps, even sadder news ... Kylie Minogue and Olivier Martinez also announced that they were splitting up yesterday evening:

Australian singer Kylie Minogue and Paris-born actor Olivier Martinez have broken up after four years together, according to a statement released Friday. "Olivier Martinez and Kylie Minogue have officially confirmed that they are no longer a couple," says the statement issued by reps for the couple. "They have made it clear that the decision to go their separate ways was mutual and amicable. The two remain very close friends." The pop princess and Martinez are both, it says, "saddened by false [media] accusations of disloyalty." The couple's parting follows reports that Martinez, 41, was seen with younger women in Los Angeles twice last week while Minogue, 38, remained in Britain. This break-up is made even more tragic in my mind when you take into consideration how much love and support Olivier provided for Kylie all thru her breast cancer treatments last year. Olivier was also the only person who Kylie trusted to photograph her for the first time after she went underground for so long due to her radiation treatments. I'm always of the mind that where there's smoke, there's fire so I can see how a misstep on Olivier's part (ie. the mysterious girl he was hanging out with here in LA) could be the reason for this break-up -- and that really sucks. Kylie is a very strong woman, tho, and I know she'll emerge from this completely fine. Both of these break-ups do make it a sad day tho. [Source]

Christina Ricci is featured in the new issue of Italian Vogue and, despite the stupid cigarette that she thinks looks cool, was lookin' very chic and stylish:

I do really like Christina ... and I love that she gave up her love of fur for her fans ... now if we can only break her of that nasty smoking habit she'll be aces. These pics are really hot. There is something very Madonna (the singer not the religious icon) about the pics. I like. [Source]

I also like these promo pictures of Jonathan Rhys Meyers from his new Showtime series The Tudors:

Actually, I don't think I've ever come across a JRM photoshoot that I didn't like. I'm not exactly sure what his half-nekkidness has to do with his role of Henry VIII (tho, I suspect this half-nekkidness might've had something to do with all those wives he was able to procure during his lifetime) but I'm not really complainin' either way. I might have to get myself a Showtime subscription to find out for myself. [Source]

Good Charlotte have unveiled the final cover artwork for their new album Good Morning Revival:

The GC boys tend to go more minimal with their album covers and this one is no exception. It's not necessarily what I would've imagined for an album cover but it's not bad ... tho, the orange would look much better in pink :) [Source]

And finally ... speaking of pink ... here is this week's batch of photos sent in my Pink is the new Blog readers -- Patrick and his friends celebrating his 18th birthday -- Niki the Bumblebee celebrating her birthday with a cake made by her friends that reads "Niki is the new Blog" -- Danielle celebrating her graduation from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee with her B.S. in Mathematics -- Bonnie and her Canadian friends on their pinkified pub crawl -- Megan and her friends Catherine, Megan, Karen, Kate, Mary-Elise and Stephanie from Atlanta, GA with their pinkified keg -- Jocelyn and her friends Hilary and Michelle posing with Laura Bell Bundy who plays Elle Woods in the Broadway version of Legally Blonde which is in previews in San Francisco, CA -- Charlotte sends in her picture with Dan Keyes and her PITNB-inspired Young Love sign at the YL show in NYC earlier this week:

Thank you all so much for sending in your amazing pictures. Congrats and love to those of you celebrating ... and much love to you all for taking the time to share your fun with all of us. XOXO

Les News:
Last night, Jim and I finally got to hang out one on one ... something we haven't had the chance to do in so long. We really wanted to keep it low key (he's been working tireless on a show for the Sundance Channel) so we decided to go see a movie (something I've been wanting to do for days now). We decided to take the suggestion from a few Pink readers and went to see Notes on a Scandal:

Much thanks to those of you who suggested I see this film ... because it was truly superb. Dame Judi Dench is a Goddess ... she is so amazing ... THE perfect person for this role. Cate Blanchett was also very good (I much preferred her performance in this film over her performance in Babel) ... but really, it's all about Judi. I can't tell you how many times I bursted out loud at something that Judi said in her narration -- she was brilliant! I loved the whole story ... it was very well executed from beginning to end. The bottom line, for me, was that every single one of the main characters was utterly insane ... and seeing them act out their craziness was just delicious. I about fell onto the floor when Cate's character Sheba (brilliant name, btw) was professing her love for Siouxsie Sioux of Siouxsie and the Banshees. The shout-out to their amazing album Kaleidoscope (along with the SaTB song Dizzy playing in the background) was much appreciated by me. Trust me ... this movie is so fun to watch (tho the creepy pedo stuff was a bit jarring ... it occurred to me that Daniel Radcliffe could have been cast perfectly in the role of the young seducer). I thoroughly enjoyed this movie ... it's definitely one I'd love to watch again and again. I might have to read the book as well.

I don't have any major plans today ... we'll see how it goes. It's bright and sunny out ... I might have to spend much of today outside.

Have a great weekend y'all! I'm out.
