The Rain In Spain Falls Mainly On The Plane

Buenos Dias, y'all! David and I *finally* made it to Barcelona, Spain and even tho it was lightly sprinkling outside when we arrived the warmer weather was well worth the moisture. We've been here for a little while now but we had to get our Internet sitch sorted out first (we managed to figure it out but only after we blew the circuits in our hotel room so that the breaker had to be reset by maintenance ... yeah, after only 10 minutes in our room) and then we had to grab some food to eat. I realize this post is pretty late for a Sunday but I'm still trying to find my groove. Let's get to the day's post ...

Remember back in the day when the coolest thing that used to belong to Britney Spears that you could spend an exorbitant amount of money for on eBay was just a wad of her chewed up gum? Yeah, well the times ... they are a changin'. Pretty much everyone and their mother know that Britney did the unthinkable (seemingly crazy) and shaved off all of her hair this past Friday night ... and now that newly shorn hair (along with Britney's Bic lighter and the 3/4 full can of Redbull energy drink that she was consuming when she did the whacky deed) was being sold at auction on eBay -- but it has since been removed. Never fear, tho, there are other listings still available on eBay that claim to be of Britney's hair. That's right folks, we're that much closer to cloning a new Britney Spears to replace the original one ... which is a good thing because the one we got ain't workin' no more. Here is a picture of the hair that was available earlier today:

The asking price started at just over $1 million dollars ... which is prolly a bit steep for your average Britney Spears memorabilia collector. Er, and it wasn't just hair that was being sold ... it was her mangy extensions too. From what I understand the original auction (supposedly put on the auction block by the salon owner where Britney shaved her head) stipulated that "a portion" of the purchase money would be donated to the Britney Spears Foundation. It should be noted that a portion could be as little as $1 and it wasn't even Britney's idea to add the charity component -- it was the idea of the salon owner chick. [Source, thanks Katelin]

And speaking of that salon owner chick, she is currently enjoying her 15 minutes of fame in all of this craziness ... Esther Tognozzi, owner of Esther's salon (the site of Britney's now world-famous haircut), is very bizzy giving interviews to anyone who asks ... and she is also bizzy posing for lots of pictures of her holding a pair of hair clippers:

If this doesn't do wonders for her business then I don't know what will. Expect her place of business to be full up with desperate for attention has beens and never beens who are seeking to get even a smidge of the attention that Britney Spears did Friday night and all of Saturday ... and then expect to never hear of her again. [Source]

Gallery of the Absurd decided to commemorate Britney's latest do don't with a cute little illustration:

Yes, I think this picture pretty much says it all. [Source]

Speaking of illustrations, the website Pretty on the Outside has yet to post a picture of the Bald Britney ... but the site did post an amazing likeness of Victoria Beckham:

You can really see it's a striking resemblance ... especially in the nipples. [Source]

The West End stage play Equus which began its preview run on Friday night has yet to let a clear photo of the nekkid Daniel Radcliffe make its way outside of the theater but Pink reader Kate was fortunate enough to see the show on Saturday afternoon and sends in this photo from outside the theater:

She explained that security is EXTREMELY tight at the venue and ABSOLUTELY no photography is allowed (but she did mention that Daniel is amazing in this role and that "he looks great naked. Especially through ... opera glasses" Tho a good, clear shot of the good stuff is bound to get out eventually. So far, this is only the second picture to leak from the show and altho blurry it gives you an idea of how Daniel looks nekkid from the backside on stage:

Well ... we're getting warmer ... the goodies can't be far behind (er, pardon the pun). Let's see the GOOD STUFF, Danny Boy! [thanks Kate, Source, thanks Grace]

Paris Hilton is finished tormenting the good people of Austria and is back on US Soil where she rightfully belongs (at least the US deserves her). She decided to throw herself a little birthday party in Las Vegas and invited a veritable Who's Who of the Hollywood Glitterati to attend:

Unfortch for Paris, all she got was Jamie Kennedy, that kid who used to be cute on Bay Watch but is now just kinda scary and some lame chick from the Real World. I guess the Angelinas and Madonnas of the world must've had their invites lost in the mail. Happy Birthday, Paris! [Source]

Well now ... what have we here? It appears that Bobby Brown is done crying over having his ass dumped by Whitney Houston and is finding comfort in the mouth of another woman ... who is strangely about as skinny as Whitney is:

Shoot ... I say if Whitney can be messin' around with Brandy's little brother Ray J then Bobby can do some messin' around of his own. I just hope that chick didn't steal his wallet when she was done with him. [Source]

Trent Reznor, the genius behind the amazing band Nine Inch Nails, is speaking out after reading reports from various sources that he is "marketing" his new album while Trent contends that he is merely expressing his art in an inventive way. Here is the text from his latest blog post written exclusively for NIN fan club members and then the text from an email sent out to those same fan club members:

Trent's Blog:

02/16/07 : EVERYBODY'S GOT ONE

Exciting times. Maddening times. Somebody needs to get the internet working in Europe for one. The term "marketing" sure is a frustrating one for me at the moment. What you are now starting to experience IS "year zero".

It's not some kind of gimmick to get you to buy a record - it IS the art form... and we're just getting started. Hope you enjoy the ride.

The Email:

A message from Trent:
This record began as an experiment with noise on a laptop in a bus on tour somewhere. That sound led to a daydream about the end of the world. That daydream stuck with me and over time revealed itself to be much more. I believe sometimes you have a choice in what inspiration you choose to follow and other times you really don't. This record is the latter. Once I tuned into it, everything fell into place... as if it were meant to be. With a framework established, the songs were very easy to write. Things started happening in my "real" life that blurred the lines of what was fiction and what wasn't. The record turned out to be more than a just a record in scale, as you will see over time.

Part one is year zero. Concept record. Sixteen tracks. All written and performed by me, produced / programmed by me and Atticus Ross, mixed by Alan Moulder, mastered by Brian "Big Bass" Gardner. Release date: April 17, 2007.

What's it about? Well, it takes place about fifteen years in the future. Things are not good. If you imagine a world where greed and power continue to run their likely course, you'll have an idea of the backdrop. The world has reached the breaking point - politically, spiritually and ecologically. Written from various perspectives of people in this world, "year zero" examines various viewpoints set against an impending moment of truth. How does it sound? You will hear for yourself soon enough, but given the point of this document is to provide information...

This record is much more of a "sound collage" than recent efforts from me.
A lot of it was improvised.
It is very tedious describing your own music.
It's not just music.
It's probably too long, but it felt like the right thing to do to paint the complete picture.
It will sound different after a few listens.
You can think about it and it will reveal more than you were expecting.
You can dance to a lot of it.
You can fuck to a lot of it (maybe all of it depending on what you're into).

I gotta say ... I love the whole concept so far. I'm just glad that Trent is finally letting his music be used on the Internet after so many years of speaking out against any use of his music online. The official NIN MY Space profile is now streaming the 2 songs from Year Zero that have been "leaked" thus far -- My Violent Heart and Survivalism. I am also THRILLED to learn that Nine Inch Nails are playing a show HERE in Barcelona, Spain tomorrow! I tried to purchase tickets online but they are no longer available online so David and will be at the venue tomorrow in the hopes that we can get tickets for the show. I have seen NIN so many times, in so many places ... but this will (hopefully) be my first European NIN show. If we get to go I will do my best to have some kickass pics to share. Woot! [Source]

Brad Pitt is on the cover of the new issue of Interview magazine ... tho, he seems to have misplaced his shirt:

Yeah, I'm not sure many people mind. Hot! [Source]

And speaking of hot ... it's time for the Hot Dude of the Week ... let's say hello to John:

Poor John ... he looks like he is soooo tired ... perhaps tired from traveling so much lately ... like me. Yeah, I don't really look like this when I'm in repose on the bed but ... well, John can be hot enough for the both of us. Enjoy! [Source]

Sorry ya'll, no newslinks today.

OY ... it's been a long day and I'm ready to hit the sack ... but here are a couple of our first pictures from Barcelona. We have the most amazing view from outside our balcony:

It's stunning really. At dinner, David and I actually met a Pink reader from Toronto, Canada. Ashley and her dinner guest Susan were sitting at the table right beside ours at the tapas bar we wandered into -- the world really is a very small place!

Blog posts will continue as usual, barring any emergencies or craziness. The time difference finally works in my favor. Have a happy day -- er, night ... and I'll be back tomorrow.

I am out.
