Is It Real Or Is It Memorex?

Lord have mercy ... yesterday was a very stressful day ... but it's over, everything is fine and life goes on (Pink reader Lorainne found THIS article from the Victorville Daily Press on our harrowing adventure). Let's get to the day's goss already ...

Hmm ... it was plainly obvious that Britney Spears had a few things to learn from Madonna and her influence (especially when the pair were Kabbalah BFFs a couple of years ago) but I don't think it's wise on Madonna's part to be picking up habits from Britney ... especially when it comes to child-care:

You'd think that after raising three children, achieving spiritual enlightenment, and witnessing Britney's public mishaps, Madonna would have it all figured out by now. Apparently not. On March 2, Madonna, 48, was caught taking off in her Escalade ESV without buckling up 17-month-old son, David. "There was no car seat," a source tells Us. "She sat in the middle row, and they left with David on her lap." Reps for the legendary singer/children's book author tell Us that "proper security measures are always taken for Madonna's children." You'd think that someone like Madonna who absolutely cannot escape the scrutiny of the public eye would realize that this sort of behavior hardly ever goes unnoticed ... or maybe, Maddy is just more "country" than was previously believed. Here are pictures of former Prison Break star Lane Garrison as he made his way into court earlier this week to face charges of manslaughter and drunk driving in Beverly Hills, CA:

The 26-year-old performer was accused of felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, felony driving under the influence causing injury to multiple victims and felony driving with a blood-alcohol level above the .08 percent legal limit causing injury. He also was charged with a misdemeanor count of furnishing alcohol to a minor. He faces up to six years and eight months in prison if convicted. Garrison was freed on $100,00 bail after he appeared in Beverly Hills Superior Court, where his arraignment was postponed until April 11. The judge barred Garrison from driving, drinking alcohol or going to bars. He also was barred from contacting witnesses or victims of the crash. His attorney, Harland Braun, said Garrison "has a deep sense of responsibility" and indicated a plea bargain was in the works. Garrison is "going to accept responsibility for his conduct. The only question is what is that level of responsibility," he said. Interesting ... even his lawyer contends that there is a level of responsibility that Garrison must accept -- which makes him sound pretty guilty to me. This talk of a rumored plea bargain is a bit bothersome ... either his actions resulted in death or they did not, I don't think there should be any wrangling to determine what sort of punishment should be exacted beforehand. I realize these sorts of plea deals happen all of the time but I just don't understand how the uncontested facts of this case can be bargained away. [Source]

Salma Hayek dropped a double bomb yesterday when it was announced that she is not only engaged to her businessman boyfriend François-Henri Pinault but that she is also pregnant by him as well!

Double the good news for Salma Hayek: The actress is engaged to businessman boyfriend François-Henri Pinault – and she's pregnant. "Businessman, François-Henri Pinault, and his fiancée, Salma Hayek, are happy to announce they are expecting the arrival of their first child," Hayek's rep confirmed in a statement Friday. The news, first reported by New York Daily News columnist Ben Widdicombe, comes just days after a photo of Hayek made the Web rounds prompting speculation that she was expecting. The pair have kept a relatively low profile since their relationship began – though Hayek, 40, has joined Pinault for occasional public events, including one in April at the festivities surrounding the inauguration of the Pinault Foundation's Modern Art collection in Venice's Gritti Palace. Pinault, 44, is the CEO of luxury goods firm PPR, which owns Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, as well as a French department store and national music chain. His father, François, is an avid art collector owning more than 2,500 valuable pieces, including Picassos, Miros and work by contemporary artists including Damien Hirst. Familiar on both European and American fashion and art circuits, the family fortune is estimated in excess of $7 billion. Despite the fact that this smells a bit of a "shotgun engagement", I'm sure that the couple will be very happy together ... I imagine that $7 billion bucks makes most troubles go away. Salma Hayek is an extremely beautiful woman so it makes sense why Françoise-Henri would want to get with her ... but I just don't see what she sees in him necessarily. Oh that's right ... there's that matter of $7 billion dollars. In any regard, congrats to the happy couple!! [Source]

A set of fake Beckhams have rolled into LA to partake of a little experiment ... would you be able to tell the real David and Victoria Beckham from a couple of fakes? Apparently, those eagle-eyed folks at the famed celeb eatery The Ivy couldn't be fooled ... they turned away the imposters when they showed up without a reservation:

Now, I can see a bit of similarity between these fakes and the real thing but not enough to be fooled. As soon as the fake David Beckham smiles, it's over. The fake Posh is a bit closer to the real fake thing ... but one has to consider ... does a fake fake Victoria Beckham = the real thing? [Source]

It's a shame that the fakers couldn't get into The Ivy ... they could've gotten an up-close and personal view of Sharon Stone's 86th birthday party and gotten great seats to watch her shovel food into her face and open tacky-looking gifts:

It appears that they best gift that Sharon received this year was getting Demi Moore to show up for her birthday luncheon. Not too shabby. [Source]

Well now ... looky who's all chummy once again ... ex-marrieds Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee got together (with their kids) in Santa Monica this week for a little lunch and little bit of the smoochies:

These two have managed to keep a great relationship going despite the fact that they couldn't remain a happily married couple ... which is very commendable, especially in Hollywood. They will always be united by their sons ... and who knows, maybe love will lead them back ... someday they'll just know that, love will lead them back to each other's arms -- where they belong -- OH sure as stars are shining ... okay, I'll stop now :) [Source]

Brad Pitt has left the brood in New Orleans and has made his way back to LA and to the waiting arms of his beloved motorcycle:

Eh ... nothing really that exciting (he's prolly back in town for biz) but with the impending arrival of their newly adopted Vietnamese son it's prudent to keep a good eye on all things Brangelina. [Source]

Wow ... I have to admit that I am pretty shocked at these new photos of Edward Furlong -- child actor who grew up to be ... well ... bigger than I remember ...

... it's clearly evident that he loves his baby boy (tho, he'd love him even more if he didn't practically smoke in the baby's face) but it's also evident that Eddy loves to eat. He's practically grown to Brandon Davis proportions ... I hope he stops before he reaches Jason Davis proportions. EEK! [Source]

Pete Wentz keeps his naughty bits fully covered on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Nylon for Guys magazine:

Hoodies, eye-liner, attitude ... you know, the usual. [Source]

Rufus Wainwright has unveiled the cover artwork for his new album Release the Stars:

This is his first album cover does not feature him. I am very excited to hear his new music. One has to wonder if this cover artwork is at all representative of the feel of the album overall. [Source]

And finally ... it's time for this week's batch of photos sent in by Pink is the new Blog readers -- boyfriends Ray and Keith who recently climbed and reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro (Africa's highest point at 19,340 feet and the world's highest free standing mountain) send in a pic from the summit where the temps were minus 20 below. The pair made and carried a Pink is the New Mt. Kilimanjaro sign with them for six days while making the climb -- Heather (in the PITNB limited edition t-shirt) and her friend Nina celebrating Heather's recent birthday -- Andrea sends in a picture of her friend Rebecca who also celebrating her birthday this week -- James sends in a pic of his group of friends celebrating the pink lurve -- Detroiter Hillary sends in this fun pic after our good friend Mike G. "popped the question" over KFC and Boone's Farm (apparently, the couple is now registered at Target and Babies 'R Us):

Much love and congrats to you all ... Ray and Keith, well done on your climb (and thank you for including all of us on your accomplishment)! Much birthday lurve goes out to Heather and Rebecca ... and all my congrats to Hillary and Mike G. on their recent engagement -- I'm sure they'll have a long and happy life together ;) XOXO

Les News:
Blah! I was so wrecked when I finally arrived in Detroit yesterday evening ... but seeing my mom getting around on her own two feet again made it all worth it. But as soon as I got home I had to go back out again so that I could make my hair cut appointment with Tomy at Six Salon in Royal Oak. I have been in dire need of a haircut for about a week now and I couldn't leave Detroit without seeing him. He is SO the best ever.

After I chopped all of my hair off, I met up with Sarah and we did a bit of shopping and then had a very leisurely dinner at BD's Mongolian BBQ. I had plans to hang out with Mike G. and his friends to see 300 and then go dancing at Necto but I just wasn't up for it. Sarah and I ended up just chillin in her bed (just testing out her new sheets, I swear) until Mark came home and then we just sat around drankin' and talkin' ... then I fell asleep in her bed (it was the sheets, I swear).

Tonight is Angi's 30th birthday party so that's where I'll be ... but before the shindig, Mark and I are doing dinner at Little Tree -- Wee!

I hope y'all are having a faboo weekend ... mine is starting to look a whole lot better. I am out.
