Here They Are, Mr. & Mrs. America

So, as you would expect, Beckham mania has overtaken Los Angeles, CA as the first couple of Soccer embarked on their first full day as Los Angelinos yesterday. Early in the AM, Victoria Beckham gave a phone interview to Ryan Seacrest on KIIS FM before she and David Beckham made their way to the Home Depot Center where a huge press conference was held to officially unveil Becks as the newest member of the LA Galaxy. Here are a few pics from the crazy party/press conference yesterday morning:

The morning after their ballyhooed arrival in Los Angeles, the Beckhams kicked off their U.S. press assault with a photo op for him and a self-deprecating radio interview for her. First, Victoria called in to Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM morning radio show, and engaged in some playful flirting with the host. "When I see your husband I feel a little ill because he's too perfect," Seacrest said. Replied Victoria: "He is very handsome. You're handsome, too! You're both really handsome. David's got a great sense of humor, he's very funny, he's a fantastic husband and he's great with the children." Later, when Seacrest told her, "You're as sexy as you are clever," Victoria again mentioned her husband's famous looks: "It's so nice that you say that. Normally what we get is, 'David is so handsome, he's just gorgeous – but she's so funny.' But you know what that means, it means you're a pig with a sense of humor" ... Asked by Seacrest, "How are your teeth? Are they okay, or are they British?" she replied: "My teeth are fine! They don't look like a row of bombed-up houses or anything." Later Friday morning, David was formally introduced to the press as the newest member of the L.A. Galaxy soccer team after Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber called him "more than just a terrific player, he's a guy with tremendous character and tremendous integrity." Galaxy coach Frank Yallop noted: "We're getting a great person, a winner on and off the field." Wearing a gray suit with a white shirt and a silver tie, Beckham stepped out in a cloud of confetti, holding up his new Galaxy jersey and then turning it around to show off his name and number 23 on the back as fans cheered and photographers' flashbulbs popped. "It's nice to see so many fans, and I thank you for that," he said at the podium after the photo op. "I have always looked for challenges in my life. My family has moved to Los Angeles and this is something we are proud of. Right now, everything is perfect. My family is the most important thing for me, but the soccer is second." I got to hear the KISS FM interview and watched the piece with Matt Lauer on The Today Show and I must admit, I was impressed by Posh's performance. She seemed warm and engaging -- not at all what I expected from a robot of her caliber. She claims that her icy demeanor is a product of tabloid machinations and I suppose I can sorta believe that argument ... we'll see if she remains sweet and emotional as time wears on. And with one full day under their belts here in America, the Beckhams have been welcomed with open arms. Without skipping a beat, Posh made her way to her fave trendy LA shopping spots to pick up a few things she prolly doesn't need but didn't want to let her first day in LA go by without doing at least a wee bit of shopping. Yes, they will fit in very nicely around here. [Source]

David Beckham launched his official site this week and in his official blog's first post promises to try and keep everyone updated with his goings-on here in the States:

Hi everybody,

Thanks for joining me on davidbeckham.com – it does seem incredible that in all my time playing professional football, I haven't had my own website.

So here it is at last.

It also gives me the perfect opportunity to say goodbye to all my friends in Spain. After four years in Madrid, I'd just like to say thank you to the people there and Real Madrid fans for being absolutely incredible, not only to me, but to my family as well. I was so happy to be able to leave having given the fans something to celebrate by helping to win La Liga.

I am now moving on to an exciting new challenge at the LA Galaxy. So far, everyone has been amazing, and my family and myself have been made to feel extremely welcome. I now have a great opportunity to raise the profile of football in America, (or soccer I should say!) and that's something I'm genuinely excited about.

Meanwhile, I'll do my best to keep you updated with everything that's happening whilst I am playing in the States.

I look forward to catching up with you all soon.

David

Something tells me that his blog prolly won't be updated with the frequency that we'd prolly like (and I'm not totally convinced that he will actually be authoring these blog posts) but I'll take what I can get. A quick perusal of DavidBeckham.com doesn't really reveal any earth-shattering new information but I'm sure that they'll be adding new stuff soon ... I hope. I just can't picture Becks as a blogger. Pretty On The Outside found inspiration from the cover of the new issue of W magazine and decided to create different, more entertaining cover artwork:

Alas, if Tom Cruise had his druthers, this might've been how things turned out. [Source]

Life has been a little kooky for Britney Spears these days (go figure) what with her taking up new residence at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA with a new bodyguard that she may or may not be dating. So what better way to not add to the crazy hoopla than for her to pick up a new animal to try and take care of. Here are a couple pics of Britney carting around the new dog that she bought this week:

It really turned out to be a dog day afternoon for Britney Spears. The pop star and her bodyguard headed to Pets of Bel Air in the Glen Center in Bel Air on Friday – and left with a new puppy, a source tells PEOPLE. An "excited" Spears walked into the store and right up to the dog section where she asked to see one dog in particular -- a $3,000 Yorkie, says a fellow shopper. "She picked up the dog and loved it right away, she was incredibly nice and very pleasant." Pleasant and fast: The pop star gave the cashier her credit card and headed out with her new dog in hand after spending less than a half-hour in the store. The new addition to the Spears's clan has been reportedly named "London" ... Spears's Yorkie joins another recent addition to her animal menagerie: a $19.99 parakeet she picked up at a Petco last month. Um, does anyone else think it is a really bad idea for Britney Spears to be purchasing new animals to keep under her own care when she's already dealing with so many other problems in her life? She's not even living at home right now and yet she thinks it's a good idea to pick up a new dog to take care of. Hopefully little London won't get thrown to the curbside much like Cousin Allie did when its usefulness is no longer required. [Source]

In other new pet news, Paris Hilton (who has been keeping a relatively low profile despite her recent attempts to return to the party scene) has also picked up a new doggie of her own. Move over Tinkerbell, Paris is bringing home a new bitch to rule the roost:

Interesting ... both Britney and Paris picked up new Yorkie dogs to add to their already huge collection of animals. UGH, these ladies really should learn to take care of themselves first before they go trying to take care of anything else. [Source]

Last night Hilary Duff was the special guest performer at PopStarz at The Factory and put on the best 8 minute show possible. Yeah. David and I didn't make it out to see the show but, from what I understand, Hil D. did a great job ... with her 2 songs. Here are pics of Hilary greeting the fans on her way out of the venue:

Two songs may not sound like much but I'm sure the gays in attendance didn't mind a bit that the show was so short. Props to Hilary for coming out and showing her gay fans the love. You may recall that Hilary held her CD release party at The Abbey a few months ago and now she's performing at gay clubs. She knows what's up and who really loves her. [Source]

Tori Spelling also has much love for the gays (even going so far as to become officially ordained so that she can perform same-sex marriages) that she showed up at the Outfest opening night event to play DJ. Yessir, Tori is a true jack of all trades:

For $50 bucks I bet Tori would come over and calk your bathtub or re-grout your tiles. You got odd jobs and cash to spend? Then Tori Spelling is your go-to-gal. [Source]

Here are a bunch of pics from the Chicago set of The Dark Knight where scenes involving Lieutenant (soon to be Commissioner) James Gordon (Gary Oldman) and the Joker (Heath Ledger) were filmed this week. Additionally, Pink reader Crystal happened upon the set and snapped a few pics of some of the Gotham Police vehicles and shares the last pic with us:

Super Hero Hype is also reporting that the first teaser trailer for The Dark Knight might be shown in front of The Simpsons movie when it opens in a couple of weeks. Coincidentally, The Simpsons movie opens on the same day that Comic Con opens in San Diego so it kinda smells like the right time to launch an early teaser trailer. [Source, thanks Crystal]

Speaking of The Simpsons ... they are featured in the new issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine in a "photospread" with supermodel Linda Evangelista and a few famous fashion designers showing off the latest French fashions:

I love it! What a great idea to cross promote. The Simpsons are going all out to hype up their feature film debut and I must say that I am impressed with all the promo so far ... now, if the movie turns out to be good then I'll be thrilled. I am a huge Simpsons fan and I really want this movie to rock balls. I'm gonna be there on opening night. [Source via ONTD!]

Les News:
So yeah ... yesterday day was spent pretty much in slow motion ... there was a lot of nappin' in the afternoon to try and make up for all the debaucherous fun from Thursday night's party. David and I spent some very nice quiet alone-time yesterday before we went out for a sushi dinner last night. We entertained the idea of going out last night only to decide to stay in instead.

I'm feeling pretty much back to my usual self so I think we'll actually venture out into the world today. Have a great weekend y'all! I am out.
