Stop In The Name Of The Law

You would think with the way that all these celebs are getting busted by the cops all over the place, from Jackson, MI to Los Angeles, CA, that someone as high profile as Britney Spears would, perhaps, shy away from getting behind the wheel. Despite the fact that celebs aren't really punished nor held accountable for their crimes, I know if I were her, I wouldn't want to join the ranks of celebrity mug shots splashed across the InterWeb (I mean, really, aren't there enough unflattering photos of her out there already?). That is not to say that she was drunk driving or anything but, well, Miss Britney was apparently speeding and was pulled over by the cops ... and you gotta know that she was prolly close to making a mess in her pants when she saw those flashing red and blue lights in her rearview mirror:

We all know that Britney loves to party so I suppose it's a good thing that she got pulled over early in her evening rather than later in her evening when the outcome could've been much worse. She really should get one of the members of her ever-changing entourage to start driving her around so that she can be sure to evade any sort of legal woes in the future. [Source]

In other Britney news, Pink reader Dawn tells me that she heard a report on the radio that Brit's new Yorkie London has suffered a broken leg at the hands of Sean Preston and/or Jayden James ... then TMZ reported this morning that the SPCA is now investigating the injured dog claims. Yikes! First there was Bit Bit (Britney's cute little Chihuahua) and then there was no more Bit Bit (hopefully it's still alive out there ... somewhere) ... will this be the last we ever see of poor little London again?

Dawn writes: I just heard on my local radio station that Britney Spears' dog, London, has a broken leg. The report said that Britney had put the dog in the crib with her two children and they threw the dog out of the crib and onto the floor. According to the report, Cousin Alli is the one who realized that there was something wrong with the dog and took it to the vet.

And then this from TMZ: TMZ has learned that officials from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals were at Britney's house today to investigate why her dog was wearing a cast ... Madeline Bernstein, President of SPCA - L.A., told TMZ tonight, "We have received various sources of complaints throughout the day. Some said that Britney's Yorkie dog was injured and had a cast on, and some said the dog had a broken leg and was not treated. After the calls started pouring in, we did go to Britney's house today [on Mulholland Drive] but were just able to leave a note with the housekeeper. The matter is not if the dog had an accident, but if the dog is getting proper care." Madeline also told us they haven't heard back from Miss Spears.

I can't even imagine the horrors that must go on in that house for any poor animal that gets introduced to that environment. Something about this whole matter just has me worried for the poor little doggie. Boo. [Source, thanks Dawn]

Well, at least there is good news in Britneyland, it seems that the much rumored 2007 MTV VMAs performance will, indeed, be happening ... at least according to RJ Durell's agent -- RJ being the dude who claims to be choreographing the performance: "They're working together," McDonald told 24Sizzler.com Friday afternoon. "He is co-choreographing her performance for the VMAs with Nick Flores, who worked with her as dancer before, so he brought R.J. in." McDonald tells 24Sizzler.com that R.J., Britney and Nick are a well-matched choreographing trio: "They're very good at what they do," she said. "They're young and fresh. He's very talented" ... As for the specifics of the performance, McDonald says, "It's being kept under wraps." She said Britney and R.J. first started working together "a couple of weeks ago" and they’ve been spending time together "rehearsing the number." And so ... according to the agent of the dude who was seen with Britney earlier this week who claims to be choreographing her upcoming MTV VMAs performance, the show is a go! I guess we won't really know for sure until Sept. 9th rolls around.

Amy Winehouse and her newly wedded hubby Blake Fielder-Civil seem to have gotten over that little lovers' quarrel that they were embroiled in a couple of days ago ... the pair went from drawing blood from one another to happy smiles and hand-holding in London just one day later:

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reunited the happy family in NYC this weekend after spending part of their week apart cuz Brad had to fly down to New Orleans to help save the world. Here are cute pics of Brad and his eldest son Maddox Jolie-Pitt grabbin' a couple of hot dogs on the streets of NYC yesterday afternoon:

Nothing says father/son bonding quite like enjoying a couple tubs of street meat together in New York City. These are really cute pics ... so normal, so fun. [Source]

While Brangelina are enjoying NYC, Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale and their only begotten son Kingston James McGregor have made their way to the sunny shores of Hawaii where the fam will be spending a bit of downtime together before Gwen puts on a couple of live performances later on in the week:

Thank the Lawd that Gavin got rid of that stupid blonde hair mess he had going on a few weeks ago. He looks much better with the darker hair. [Source]

Gavin ain't the only one lookin' a might better these days ... Kelly Osbourne, who is currently appearing on the West End stage in the London production of Chicago: The Musical, has been lookin' really chic as well ... here are a couple pics:

I love the hair and the makeup ... she looks amazing. This is really a good look for her. Color me impressed. [Source]

Pink reader Kathy managed to catch Rufus Wainwright's most recent performance in Columbus, OH this week and sends in these fun pictures of Rufus on stage in drag:

I'm not sure if this is a normal part of his current show or if this was a special occasion (since I hadn't heard that Rufus has been performing in drag up until now) but there you have it. While it's true that Rufus has got himself some pretty hot gams, I dunno that I really like him all dolled up like this. I think I prefer my Rufus to be all butched out in his multicolored jackets rather than squeezed into jacket skirts. He looks more like Liza Minelli rather than Judy Garland. I can't *wait* to see what he pulls off at the Hollywood Bowl when I see him on Sept. 23rd! [thanks Kathy]

Can you guess what platinum selling pop/rock female performer is announcing the release date for her third album on her official website?

I am a huge fan of this person's music and cannot wait to hear what she's got in store for us this time around. I hope the prominent use of the boom box in this teaser photo is a good indicator of the album's sound. Woot! [Source]

Here's a question ... how much did you spend on your car? Chances are, if you do own a car then you are still making payments on that car. Here's a sobering thought ... Louis Vuitton has crafted an extremely limited edition purse (there are only 24 of them in the world) that most probably cost more than the car that you are currently still making payments on. Behold, the $52,000+ Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork purse:

Forget your Coach purse. Put away your Kate Spade. Even Hermes's famous Birkin bag seems positively discount. The Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork is this summer's ultimate status bag, ringing in at $52,500 ... "We find the customer there is a very sophisticated client," said Brigid Andrews, Northeast regional vice president for Louis Vuitton. "When there's something that is this special, I'm really not surprised that we had a client who wanted it for her own collection." The company made the bag that special not only by price tag and design -- 14 LV bags were cut up and sewn together to make it -- but also by offering only five for sale in North America and 24 worldwide. R&B superstar Beyonce Knowles got one. The other four? Their names have not been revealed. The bag, says Milton Pedraza, chief executive of market-research firm the Luxury Institute, is a lesson in creating cachet. What, after all, is a luxury retailer to do when even suburban high school students are wearing sunglasses with Chanel's interlocking Cs and toting purses plastered with the LV logo, both real and fake? "If my Louis Vuitton, which I'm paying a few thousand for, everyone has one, what do I get?" Pedraza said. "How do I get that exclusivity that I long for?" To achieve that, darling, you had to pre-order the Tribute Patchwork bag months ago. Louis Vuitton boutiques in New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Chevy Chase got the call. Delivery began discreetly in July, with the bags arriving in a clear, Plexiglas trunk covered with the LV logo. It was publicly photographed on Knowles's arm last month. Purse bloggers (yes, they do exist) also reported spotting the singer toting the bag while wearing a satin shirt, shorts and sky-high stilettos as she left a taping of MTV's "TRL." The Tribute Patchwork is Louis Vuitton's most expensive and exclusive bag to date ... The Tribute Patchwork is handmade at a workshop in France and is made up of pieces of 14 Louis Vuitton handbags, including the monogram denim from spring 2005, the Lady Steamer with Alligator from fall 2006, the Cuir Tresse from spring 2007 and the Talentueux Suhali from spring 2003. Andrews said Louis Vuitton's creative director, Marc Jacobs, designed the Tribute Patchwork "as a celebration of the history of Louis Vuitton." I, uh, don't know that this purse really comes across as a celebration of Louis Vuitton so much as it looks more like a thing thrown together from pieces of other purses salvaged from the trash dumpster. This Frankenstein purse looks really tacky, I think, and yet it comes splashed with a $50k price tag and everyone is gonna want one. I am an LV fan but I really think this bag is fugly as hell. And, from what I've gathered on PurseBlog.com, it isn't much loved by other LV fans out there either. LOL -- Beyonce would be the type of celeb to rock this bag in public. [Source, Source, thanks Kate]

And finally, it's time for this week's batch of photos sent in by Pink is the new Blog readers -- Heather from Atlanta, GA sends in a pic of her 5-year old daughter Caitlin and her dog Shula on her first day of Kindergarten -- Lauren sends in a pic with some friends at a recent Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Indians game at Comerica Park in downtown Detroit, MI -- Becky from San Diego, CA sends in a pic with a bunch of her girlfriends at her 30th birthday party in Temecula Valley Wine Country -- Kattrin, from Toronto, Canada, sends in a pic all the way from Costa Rica where she found other PITNB readers while she vacationed -- Nelse sends in a pic with her friend Christine as they competed in a race called the Muddy Buddy in Richmond, VA:

Thank you all, so much, for all the fun pics. I say it all the time but I really enjoy receiving these pictures. I love how happy everyone looks in the pics and it makes me feel great that y'all choose to include PITNB in your happy times. XOXO

Les News:
The cool, breezy, rainy weather has finally departed and left a really humid mess in its place. That said, I'm still having a gret time here in NYC. David and I keep things pretty quiet last night ... we had dinner at a new place called Jodie's Friends in the West Village (which has just opened and was quite delicious) and then retired to a quiet evening in at his place. Honestly, we were just lazy but it was a nice night nonetheless.

Today is my last fully day here in NYC so I'm gonna make the most of it ... hopefully I'll get to hang out with Oriana at some point this evening and then we'll see where the rest of the day takes us. Have a great weekend, y'all. I'm out.
