Weathering The Storm

Britney Spears emerged in public yesterday morning, afternoon and night after spending a few days on the downlow as her custody battle with Kevin Federline was taking place in court. You may recall that Britney suffered the loss of her manager and attorney this week and has already moved on from her replacement attorney to her replacement replacement attorney. She is now being repped by Sorrell Trope in her bid to keep K-Fed's desire to gain full custody of their 2 sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, at bay. You'd think that all of this legal wrangling would keep the girl down ... and you'd be incorrect. Yesterday morn, Britney showed up in Malibu, CA to pick up a new pair of eyeglasses ...

... when, by the looks of it, she should've been picking up a new hair stylist. I'm just stunned at her inability to care about pretty much all the important things in her life. I'm not even talking about her looks or her hair ... it just seems to me that if I were trying to impress upon the court the fact that I was a stable and competent parent I wouldn't want to be seen in public looking like a disheveled mess. The poor dear looks like a family of squirrels nested and then ravaged her poor weave. [Source]

After her trip to the eye doctor, Britters had to make one of her famous public restroom/junk food stops:

Nothing says MMM, MMM good like an ice cream bar break right after visiting a public restroom. [Source, Source]

Again, you'd think that Britney would keep in mind that her every move is being monitored by her enemies (K-Fed and all those aligned with him to steal custody away from her) and the court itself (well, not that the judge in her case reads tabloids, blogs, etc. but he might catch the new TMZ TV show after work). After all, the judge has already handed down a pretty scathing set of rules (including drug testing for Britney!!!) that both Britney and Kevin have to abide by as the custody battle rages on ... here's a look at the stringent court order:

Britney Spears is an 'habitual and frequent user' of controlled substances and alcohol, and has been ordered to undergo random drug testing and hire a parenting coach in order to keep her children, a judge in the singer's custody case ruled. Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled: "Based on the evidence presented, the court finds that there is habitual, frequent and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol by the petitioner". Gordon ordered Spears to undergo testing for drugs and alcohol twice per week on random dates and times. Both Spears, 25, and Federline, 29, are to undergo 'joint co-parenting counselling' and the judge said each must refrain from making derogatory remarks about the other. And the pair were also barred from using drink or drugs for 12 hours before having custody of the children. But he saved his most stringent requirements for troubled Britney, who in recent months has exhibited bizarre behaviour after completing a rehab program in March. Britney was ordered to meet with a counsellor at least once a week to address parenting issues and she must work with a parenting coach at least eight hours a week, according to court documents released after the hearing. "The parenting coach is to observe (Spears's) interaction with the minor children and her parenting skills," the Commissioner wrote. The coach will provide lawyers on both sides with written reports, and will appear in court at the next hearing scheduled between Spear's and Federline on Nov 26. Federline, 29, who Britney has now divorced, had been asking for increased custody of the boys, but Gordon maintained the current 50/50 joint arrangement. Yikes! Honestly, it sounds very lucky that the 50/50 order was upheld .. especially with all these new provisions. It remains to be seen, 1.) how seriously Britney will take these new restraints and 2.) whether or not she'll be able to comply in a successful manner. All eyes will be on Britney Spears from now on ... which is like, you know, any given day in her life. [Source]

Oh yeah ... I guess it should be noted that Britney, obvs not really sweating this new order by the court, decided to go out and do a little partying at Winston's:

Just hours after a judge ordered random drug tests for Britney Spears, the singer hit the Los Angeles nightclub scene overnight Tuesday with Avril Lavigne. Followed by a pack of paparazzi, Spears first was seen at Winston's in West Hollywood with Lavigne and Spears's friend Alli Sims. The women left around 1 a.m., and Spears was later spotted at Hyde Lounge in West Hollywood until the club closed. "They kept bringing (Spears) shots and so they were drinking," says a Hyde observer. "She was dancing on the tables trying to be really sexy, even putting a black sock over her head as a hat, and putting on a show for everyone." Another observer saw what appeared to be alcohol in front of Spears but didn’t see her drink it. At one point in the evening, Spears drove to the Beverly Hills Police Department and complained that photographers were following her, but no action was taken. Again, I have to stress that there is really nothing wrong with a single mother going out on the town every once in a while, I'm not faulting her for that, but it just seems reckless and very unwise for her to decide to hit the nightclub scene on the very day that the judge handed down these new anti-partying restrictions ... especially when the custody of her children (that she claims are "her life") is at stake. PS: I hate her fugly fur coat ... I guess we know what happened to that family of squirrels who tore up Britney's hair. [Source]

One last bit of Britness before I move on ... here are pictures of the raven-haired Britney chatting up a storm on her cellphone at her new Beverly Hills home earlier this week:

I don't ever want to see her sans underwear again ... period! We know she owns them ... she needs to keep wearing them!! [Source]

Last night, The Advocate celebrated it's 40th Anniversary at Republic here in LA and a whole bunch of important gays (and a few really cool straights) were in attendance. I was also lucky enough to attend the event ... here are a few pics from the red carpet:

I've gotta say, of all the events that I am very fortunate enough to attend, events like last night's Advocate party are really amazing to be a part of. I am always very impressed with the strides that have been made in GLBT visibility and celebrating 40 years of existence for a magazine like The Advocate is quite a feat. I have a few personal pics that I'll post below along with some anecdotal stuff. I brought Mike along with me and we had a blast! [Source]

Maxim magazine also threw a little shindig of its own last night at Avalon ... here are a few pics from the Maxim Style Awards '07:

Mike and I also made it out to the Maxim party, cosponsored by Casio, altho a bit late. We got so hung up with the gays (ie. we had a blast) that we almost didn't make it out. I love The Bravery (who performed at the Maxim party, pics at the end of today's post) so I was very pleased that we arrived just in time to catch their set. The atmosphere at Avalon was very chill, the tunes were very fun to dance to and the open Skyy Vodka bar wasn't so bad either. Those Maxim folks really know how to throw a fun party ;) [Source]

Over in NYC, Broadway turned PINK for the special taping of Legally Blonde: The Musical which will air in a few weeks on MTV. The red pink carpet was rolled out for the MTV audience last night ... and here are a few pics:

The ladies from The Hills, LC, Whitney and Audrina, joined Laura Bell Bundy and the rest of the cast of Legally Blonde for the big show. From what I understand, the atmosphere was crazy and I am very much looking forward seeing how the show translates to the small screen. I've said this many times before, Legally Blonde is a really fun, totally enjoyable musical ... and I'm very glad that it will be seen by a much huger MTV audience very soon. The show is scheduled to air on MTV on September 29th (with multiple reairings to follow, as MTV is usually wont to do). [Source]

Elsewhere in NYC, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Casey Affleck, George Clooney and others were on hand for the premiere of Brad's new movie The Assassination of Jesse James at the Ziegfeld Theatre. Here are a few pics from that red carpet:

Yeah, I'm not really big on the Westerns but from what I hear this movie plays like a "love" story without actually being a "love" story. Someone described it to me as Brokeback Mountain meets Bonanza. LOL! I might have to put aside my anti-Western sentiments to see what all the hubbub is about for myself. [Source]

Paris Hilton was spotted emerging from a modeling agency (presumably, her modeling agency) with her new boy, her newest dog and her new model card all in tow:

Which, on second thought, isn't at all very interesting in the least. [Source]

BUT, in somewhat more interesting news, a few Pink readers (Emma, Karolina and Malin) gave me the heads up that Paris's new dude does, in fact, have a name. His prettiness hails from Gothenburg, Sweden, is 20 years old and is named Alexander von Zweigbergk Väggö. Fancy. Here are a few of his modeling pics:

With cheekbones like this, of course he's a Swedish model. I just don't know that the boy fully understands what he's in for. I wonder what the Swedish word for free-clinic is? [Source]

Here is a newish pic of Amy Winehouse:

I know, the joke was *way* too easy but I kinda had to. [Source]

Pink reader Frances sends in this adorable pic of Jake Gyllenhaal wearing Michael Stipe's (R.E.M.) glasses in a pic that Michael took himself:

Are you seriously kidding me right now? Is this not the cutest pic you've EVER seen? Well ... today? [Source, thanks Frances]

Rihanna graces the cover and is featured in the pages of the new issue of the Canadian magazine Fashion Magazine ... here are a couple of pics:

I love these pics. She looks so great in both dresses (even tho the red one looks a bit like it was made of crumpled Xmas wrapping paper it still works). Isn't it cool that Rihanna is having, like, the best year ever? [Source]

Here is, what is being dubbed by both MTV and Entertainment Tonight, as the first picture from the set of the new Sex and the City movie which has begun production in NYC today:

But, if you look around a bit, you'll find that there are quite a few pics from the movie set on the InterWeb already. While I'm not the biggest Sex and the City fan (well, I'm not a fan at all, actually ... please don't stone me) I can appreciate how exciting this is for pretty much everyone else on the planet. Maybe I'll watch the entire series before the movie comes out ... it's about time that I make a serious effort to see what all the excitement is about. [Source]

And finally, Billboard magazine has announced that Kanye West has beaten, nay, crushed 50 Cent in the Album Sales Chart Showdown of 2007:

Kanye West's "Graduation" (Def Jam) easily leads the star-studded class of Sept. 11 releases, posting The Billboard 200's largest sales total in more than two years. Nielsen SoundScan will show West's album moved 957,000 during its first six days when the tracking service refreshes its charts tomorrow morning (Sept. 19). Also pumping album volume are 50 Cent's "Curtis" (G-Unit/Interscope), which will lock down the No. 2 slot with 691,000 sold. Kenny Chesney's "Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates" (BNA/Sony BMG Nashville) will bow at No. 3 with 387,000 copies. The total for West's "Graduation" is the largest by any album since 50 Cent's "The Massacre" opened with 1.1 million copies in March 2005. West's own August 2005 album, "Late Registration," was the last album to surpass 800,000 copies when it began with 860,000. So ... now we await the retirement announcement from 50 Cent. I'll be standing over here with my arms crossed and my right toe tapping in the meanwhile. [Source]

Les News:
Whew! Last night was so fun! As I mentioned above, Mike and I had a pretty fun night last night. We grabbed a quick bite to eat at Basix before making our way out to Republic for The Advocate 40th Ani Party. Here are a few pics from that event:

I was thrilled that my girl Heather Matarazzo was among the special guests for the evening ... and I was equally thrilled to finally meet her beautiful partner Caroline. I also got to chat a bit with Katherine Heigl, letting her know I'm in the movie Knocked Up with her (well, for 4 seconds total but it's better than nothing) which she seemed to get a kick out of. She is a real sweetheart. I also got to hang out with my friend Allan Brocka (director of Eating Out, creator of Rick and Steve), Emily Brooke Hands, Taylor Dooley, Rebekah Kochen (who are all featured in the Eating Out movies and Rick and Steve) and Phillip J. Bartel (director of Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds). I also got to meet a bunch of really great Pink readers:

Dustin, Elin, Amy and Lisa -- it was great meeting y'all. I also ran into my boy Johnny Lopez from TMZ and my two Toms (Lenk and Ford) who I hadn't seen in ages. It was just a big ol' lovefest all night long. Much lurve goes out to Neal from The Advocate for making sure that Mike and I were taken care of.

Here are my pics of The Bravery (tho, mostly frontman Sam Endicott) from the Maxim party at Avalon:

As I've said, Maxim throws great parties and they always have great bands playing those great parties. I was very glad that were were able to make it out to the shindig in time to see The Bravery play. It was a late night ... I'm a bit wiped ... and this post is a wee bit tardy.

I'm off to the premiere of Good Luck Chuck tonight -- I'll pass along y'alls regards to Jessica Alba ;) ... and I guess that's about all for now. I'm out.
