Quit While You're Way Behind

Hulk Hogan, in an attempt to seem repentant and explanatory, paid a little visit to the Larry King Live show last night in order to discuss matters dealing with his son Nick Hogan's incarceration (for almost killing his friend John Graziano) and all the bullshizz that has come to light since. The highlight from the interview for me was the point where Hulk was explaining that it is his belief that John Graziano is now in a permanent vegetative state (which resulted from the car accident where Nick was driving) as a part of "God's will" to make John "a better person":

Hulk Hogan broke his silence on his son's imprisonment and his wife's new relationship on Larry King Live Tuesday. "He made a mistake," Hogan said of his son Nick Bollea, 17, who pled no contest after a reckless driving incident last August that left his friend, John Graziano, in critical condition. Bollea is currently serving an eight-month sentence in a Florida jail. Hogan broke down when discussing the difficulties his family has faced over the last several months. "Yeah, it's been hard," he said. "The main focus is my son, my children and John Graziano. This is in God's hands. Things happen for a reason. This is to make Nick a better person. This is, in my belief, this is to make John a better person. Like I said before, it's God's will, where we're at."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The wrestler also addressed the jailhouse tapes that were released to the media, in which Hogan and his son discuss a possible future reality show. "[Will] you get that thing lined up so the minute I walk out of wherever I walk out of, it's there, boom?" Bollea can be heard asking Hogan on the tapes. "I just wish someone would play the two hours before, or the hour after, and please put everything in the proper context," Hogan told King, visibly frustrated. In the conversation before that excerpt, he went on, "I was trying to keep [Nick's] spirits up, trying to get him to move forward." Hogan acknowledged that in such a turbulent year – he and his wife Linda split after 23 years together – "it is a constant soul searching mission ... for everything just to disappear on me, for my wife to file for divorce and the marriage to be broken long before that, and then the accident happened and the civil case, and my son getting put in jail ... I just soul searched figuring out what could I have done. It's just hard." As for his estranged wife Linda, Hogan confirmed her new relationship with a younger man and denied reports that he is dating a friend of his daughter Brooke. "[The woman] that I'm dating is 34 years old and it's not one of Brooke's friends," he said, "and from the reports I'm hearing, my wife is dating a 19-year-old." But, he added, "Larry, at this point my only focus is on John and Nick. Linda has her own life, and her own agenda."

Seriously, the Hogans should just keep their mouths quiet at this point ... they only make things worse every time they talk. Today, Hogan is now apologizing and explaining what he really meant by his "God's will" comment:

"It was like the whole world [was] crashing down on my son. Solitary confinement — most hardened criminals unravel after two or three days. Nick survived in there 28-29 days," Hulk said. "During that period of time as I’m sitting there, 28 or 29 days, hardly any sleep, I did everything I could to laugh, to cry with my son. I was trying to help [to] give Nick some type of relief because he [was] consumed with the unknown," Hulk continued. "I was just trying to explain to him that it's 'God's hands' or it's 'God's will.' That's what people have said for thousands of years and did I say things wrong? Yes. I am I sorry." Hulk admitted he made some of the comments recorded during phone calls, including discussing a future reality show for Nick, to "protect him physically because his mental state was unraveling." And while he knew the calls were being recorded, Hulk also expressed his disappointment that the calls were released to the media. "This was the only thing Nick had left. This is the privacy everybody had in prison ... and to have that taken away?" Hulk sighed. "I was more worried than ever about his mental state." Hulk broke down at the end of the broadcast, and through choked back tears, said that he believed the public understood his family's plight.

See, I think that "the public" sees his family for what they are ... completely out of touch with reality. What planet are these people from? He is shocked that his son is suffering in jail? WILL SOMEONE TELL HIM THAT IS WHAT JAIL IS FOR? Can someone get a piece of paper and a crayon and draw a photo illustrating that JAIL IS PUNISHMENT? How does he not understand that YOU LOSE ALL PRIVACY WHEN YOU GO TO JAIL because INMATES ARE BEING PUNISHED FOR THEIR CRIMES. It's not a vacation, jails aren't there to cater to your comforts. Nick Hogan doesn't even know the meaning of real jailhouse punishment. And beyond that, even the worse jailhouse punishment might be preferable to existing in a permanent vegetative state. I can't even convey my disgust with this whole thing. It just keeps getting grosser and grosser. [Source, Source]

In other Hulk Hogan news, folks are now being warned that the Hulk Hogan Ultimate Grill may kill you ... or burn your house down. Wanna stay alive, use a George Forman Grill instead.

Lindsay's Still In Labor

Filming on Lindsay Lohan's new movie, Labor Pains, continues here in SoCal but has moved to Sherman Oaks, CA ... you know, in case you are trying to track her every move in order to know where she may be at any given time. Anyways, here are a couple pics of Lindsay lookin' hawt and fake pregs on set earlier today:

Let me tell you, I'm glad that Lindsay's rockin' the prosthetic baby bump and not the real thing ... we've already got damn too much celeb spawn running around town right now. Lindsay looks good, tho. It's been a long time since we've seen her this happy and contented with life. It's a nice look for her. [Source]

Sub Standard

Prince Wills spent part of his day yesterday touring the HMS Alliance during his visit to the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport, England. It was also announced yesterday that Wills has been named the patron of a multimillion-pound appeal to conserve the HMS Alliance -- Britain's last remaining Second World War submarine. Here are a few pics of Wills touring the sub and examining the cramped control room and engine compartment ... which is kinda hot for those of you who may enjoy Navy sea men fantasies ;)

The prince, who is on a two-month attachment with the Royal Navy and is Commodore in Chief of Submarines, toured HMS Alliance on Tuesday. He said it was of "great importance" that maritime heritage was safeguarded. HMS Alliance, launched in 1945, was in service for more than 25 years and is now on show at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport, Hampshire. The 25-year-old prince said it was important for future generations to understand the sacrifice made by submariners. The submarine has been on display at the museum since 1981 but urgent restoration is needed, which is expected to cost millions. Prince William said: "I am delighted and honoured to become patron of the HMS Alliance conservation appeal. "It is of great importance that such heritage is safeguarded to help future generations to understand the past heroism and sacrifice of Britain's submariners. I wish the appeal every success in its crucial efforts to preserve this historic submarine for the nation." The fund was started in October 2007 and will run for two years to try to raise enough money for the vessel's conservation ... During his visit to the museum, Prince William - known as Sub Lt Wales - opened a memorial dedicated to submariners who have died defending the UK. An area of remembrance lists 5,300 personnel who have died between 1904 to the present day.

See ... Wills looks sharp in a suit and all but I think he should've worn his Navy uniform. What kind of Sub Lt. who has just been named patron of a conservation campaign to save such a revered vessel as the HMS Alliance would tour the sub out of uni? Well, he's lucky he's an heir to the British throne otherwise he might've gotten a stern talkin' to by one of his superiors. Isn't it fun watching the Royal Princes of England play military games? Harry goes to Afghanistan and gets his face dirty while Wills gets his hands dirty by swabbing the poop deck of his assigned ship and they're suddenly heroes. It must be real nice being Royal. The TV Guide: Signing Off ... Almost

Welp ... it's almost that time. I only have a few more posts for this ol' gal (my trent.blogspot.com addy) before the site moves on into its next incarnation. I always tend to wax nostalgic when milestone events like this come around (tho, none quite as milestone as this relaunch) thinking back to my first blog at trent.easyjournal.com and then my first posts here back in June of 2004. My life has changed so drastically from my first blogging days. Sarah and I were living together in Grosse Pointe Park, MI, I was a brand new teacher still in graduate school ... I was dating Tony, who was then living in St. Louis, MO. I never, ever dreamed that I'd be able to blog for a living and here I am, living a very happy and comfortable life in SoCal. It's because of my blog that I met David and have been allowed to experience some amazing things and meet some amazing people. It's really remarkable how much my life has been enriched ... and all because of I decided to start writing an online journal for fun. Thruout the years, I've communicated and have been very fortunate to meet a plethora of Pink readers ... having an ongoing, back-and-forth conduit to get to know the many of you who enjoy reading my blog has prolly been the best perk afforded to me by my blog. I very much look forward to continuing our communiqués and am anxious to hear your feedback on the new site (which will go live at midnight Eastern Time tonight).

But first, comes the party ... folks, I'm nervous as hell. I've never had a big party like the one that I'm having tonight and I'm excited and a bit scared all at once. We got my girl DJ Samantha Ronson to spin and the shindig will be at S Bar. I hear the guestlist looks really fun ... there may be a celeb or two in the hizzy (not to mention some of the Hot Dudes of the Week from All American Guys IN THE FLESH -- Woot!) ... but I'm most excited that my friends and loved ones can party with me tonight. I picked up Sarah from the airport last night and all of my SoCal friends (and some imports) who are in town will be with me tonight. Much love goes out to my party sponsors Nestea and Nikon COOLPIX for their hard work on this party. I'm just very excited for tonight ... I can't wait to share all the pics and stories with you tomorrow :)

And so ... I have a few more posts to go and then I'll be out for good on THIS version of the blog. I've got a whole lot planned for the future on the new site ... I look forward to moving forward with all y'all in my new endeavor.

XOXOXO

It Better Be Set In Detroit

Superhero Hype! posted a photo of a teaser poster from the 2008 Licensing International Expo which is currently taking place in NYC ... it looks like a new Robocop movie is set for release in 2010:

Many of you may not recall the first round of Robocop movies which came out in the 1980's but I do -- I love that the movies were set in the Detroit, MI of the future. The movies may have been cheesy as hell (after all, weren't all the great action movies of the 80s cheesy as hell?) but they were ridiculously fun. I'm hopeful that this new movie will be just as fun. I couldn't find any real info on this new movie (whether it's a remake or, yet another, sequel) but alls I know is that it better be set in Detroit, MI of the future. Period. [Source]

Field Trip

Here are a couple pics of Nicole Richie and Joel Madden making their way into the LACMA (the Los Angeles County Museum of Art) yesterday afternoon to enjoy some culture and stuff:

I understand that the LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States and houses some pretty incredible artwork. I've been dying to get my ass to the BCAM (the Broad Contemporary Art Museum) at the LACMA to check out the contemporary art on display but I've yet to make the time. Sadly, there are no dinosaur bones at the LACMA (much to my and Joel's chagrin) but it sounds like a fun place to visit nonetheless. HMMM ... I guess I'll have to ask Joel how the museum is the next time I see him. [Source]

Chace Does London

Gossip Girl heartthrob Chace Crawford has made his way to the other side of the pond to enjoy some downtime in between filming. Chace spent part of his lovely Monday in London, England shopping on Bond street (making sure to drop some cheddar at the Alexander McQueen boutique) as well as curling up with a good script at the park. Here are a few pics:

Aww ... Chace is a cutie. I'm actually surprised that homie is traveling abroad all by his lonesome. I'm not sure if he made his way to the UK with anyone or if he's planning on meeting anyone while he's over there (anyone know where JC Chasez is these days?) but I'm really hoping that we get to see new party pics from our dear Chace. He looks like so much fun when he's all, you know, toasty ;) [Source]

A Swell Gal

Well now ... it looks as if newly married Ashlee Simpson is finally starting to show that she really is pregs, only weeks after the official announcement was made that she is with child. Here are a couple of very recent photos of Ashlee here in SoCal this week showing her bump progression ... one day it's nonexistent, the next day it starts to show:

Weeks after confirming she's expecting, a pregnant Ashlee Simpson is starting to show. The newlywed popped by Hollywood's RenMar Studios in a flowy maxi-dress with a plunging neckline on Monday. Her husband Pete Wentz recently admitted he was "nervous ... the first time I ever went to the doctor's office." But after hearing the baby's heartbeat, "I felt totally content and at peace with everything," he said. "It feels good."

It still kinda blows my mind that A.) Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are a married couple and B.) she is pregs with their first child. I am very happy for the couple ... I'm sure they're thrilled at the prospect of becoming parents (I, for the life of me, cannot imagine what that must feel like). That being said, this miniscule baby bump seems pretty small for Ashlee to have been pregs way back when the rumors started to swirl back when she was promoting her new album. Obvs, I'm no OBGYN but I'm still pretty sure that Ash only got pregs after she started playing coy with the "is she or isn't she?" pregs thing a few months ago. Irregardless of when she got pregs, I'm looking forward to the birth of this little emo baby. Here's hoping it has Ashlee's old nose and Pete's flat-ironed hair. [Source]

The Two Stogies

Britney Spears and Mel Gibson met up for one of their strange but fairly regular "dates" last night at the uberexclusive, members-only Havana Club in Beverly Hills, CA. It is believed that the couple are engaged in on-going guidance and business sessions (it was discovered that the pair have been meeting regularly back in March and last month, Britney flew down to Costa Rica to vacay with Mel on his estate) but it's very unclear as to what sorts of guidance (spiritual?) or business (a possible movie together?) items they discuss. Here are a couple pics of our dear Britney as she made her way into the Havana Club last night:

For more than two-and-a-half hours, the singer, 26, and the actor-filmmaker, 52, met in what was confirmed to PEOPLE as a more of an ongoing guidance session than a business pow-wow. For their rendezvous at the members-only Havana Club, both showed up separately shortly before 7 p.m., well into the third game of the NBA finals between the L.A. Lakers and the Boston Celtics, which was playing at the bar. As for the smoking and watering hole itself, habitués include Ben Affleck, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Danny DeVito. When Spears arrived, her bodyguard drove a Jeep Commander into the underground parking garage, and she exited with her blonde hair up and pulled back by a white headband. Also with Spears were her assistant Brett and a bodyguard. "She looked pretty in her new Capri jeans a blue blouse, white shoes and a brown bag," says a photographer. Earlier in the day, Spears was seen shopping at the Lisa Kline boutique in Beverly Hills, where she purchased the new jeans and tried on several necklaces. "Britney looked like a doll with bright red lipstick," added the photog, who described her as "very quiet" and "with a serious look on her face as she walked in to the Havana Club." By contrast, an upbeat Gibson left his silver Lexus with the valet and walked in holding what was described as a "man-purse" up to his face and a look of "okay, you got me" as paparazzi snapped his picture. Around 9:30, Spears left the club for home, while Gibson hung around until about 11.

Mel Gibson completely lost all my respect once his anti-Semetic views came to light after his DUI arrest in 2006 (at the time, I was unaware of his numerous homophobic remarks otherwise he would've lost my respect years ago) but I can appreciate that he is taking an active part in Britney's rehabilitation. While he is not someone I would want life coaching anyone I care about (or even remotely know), I'm glad that Britney Spears can, at least, get something positive from him. As I've said many times, she has been working very hard to get her life in order and I'm totally cool with her achieving that goal as best she can -- I just hope he isn't doing more harm than good ... and I'd love it if she'd kick that nasty and deadly smoking habit but, I'll take what I can get. Back In The Game

At last, the LA Lakers have gotten back into the game ... after losing the first two games of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics, the LA Lakers finally came back and won game three on their home turf at the Staples Center here in downtown LA last night. Here are a few pics of some of the many celebs who came out in support of their LA Lakers (with Donnie Walberg rooting for the Celitcs) and cheered them on to victory:

In front of a constellation of Hollywood stars, the desperate Los Angeles Lakers nearly faded into oblivion Tuesday night in Game 3 of the NBA Finals before they rallied to subdue the Boston Celtics for an 87-81 victory. Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic's dead-eye shooting — he shot 70% from the floor, including three three-pointers — helped seal the win with a career postseason-high 20 points. Backcourt teammate Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 36 points, including a twisting floater with 38 seconds remaining ... Los Angeles avoided the near-impossible roadblock of needing four consecutive triumphs. No NBA team has overcome a 3-0 lead in any playoff series (0-for-85). The Lakers, 9-0 at the Staples Center this postseason, trail the Celtics 2-1 in the best-of-seven series. Game 4 is Thursday night. "Kobe was fantastic," said coach Doc Rivers, whose Celtics are 2-8 on the road in the playoffs. "But I thought Vujacic was the key to the game."

Now, anyone who knows me or even casually reads my blog knows that I'm a big sports person. But I do tend to perk up around Championship games, particularly when my home teams are involved. I watched a bit of the Eastern Conference Finals only to watch my beloved Detroit Pistons fall to the Boston Celtics. Now that Detroit is out of the game, I have to throw my support behind the LA Lakers since they are my adopted hometown. I'm relieved that the Lakers finally woke up and won a game ... it would've been pretty dire had they lost last night's game against the boys from Boston.

To be fair, another major reason that I tend to pay attention to sports is the celebrity involvement (natch) and when it comes to sports celebrities, well, I don't usually miss an appearance by David Beckham. Here are a few pics of Becks with his eldest son Brooklyn at last night's game:

I don't believe that Becks spent any of last night's game ogling the Laker Girls cheerleaders (or at the very least, he wasn't caught ogling any of the cheerleaders) ... he was just there to support his adopted home team in their quest for the NBA Championship. Oh, he was also there to tout his sexy hawtness, too.

I understand that the Lakers are undefeated at home ... which implies that they will tie up the series with a win at home on Thursday. It'd be awesome (for me at least) to have the Detroit Red Wings win the NHL Championship and the LA Lakers win the NBA Championship all in the same year ... c'mon Lakers, do it for me :)

"Regretful" & "Embarrassed" Does Not Equal "Sorry"

A rep for Shia LaBeouf has issued a statement exclusively to E! News's Marc Malkin regarding that idiotic You Tube video that was going around last night and today which featured Shia calling his friend a "faggot" and getting slapped in the face. Because this isn't the kind of behavior that folks like to see in their young, up-and-coming box office stars, the rep issued the statement to explain how "regretful" and "embarrassed" Shia is that this video was made public ... tho, no mention of an apology made its way into the release:

A rep for the Indiana Jones star says he's "embarrassed" by a YouTube video that made its way around the Internet yesterday and earlier today. The clip, which has been pulled by YouTube, shows LaBeouf participating in a sophomoric slapping contest with a friend during what appears to be a boozy house party. LaBeouf successfully provoked his pal to whack him by calling him a "faggot." "The video tape that is currently being circulated is several years old and captures Shia playing a game amongst friends in which he uses a derogatory word towards a friend," LaBeouf's rep tells me exclusively. "He regrets having used the word in any capacity and is very embarrassed that this footage is being seen by anyone."

As I mentioned before, I was pretty grossed out by what I saw in that video. I still think an apology is in order. [Source]

Yee Haw! Jessica Reps The Big D In The Big Apple

Jessica Simpson has relocated, yet again, surfacing in NYC this week presumably to work on her new Country album ... or whatevs. Here are pics of Jess out on the town last night showing her Cowboys pride proudly on her hat:

Hey, if rockin' the Dallas Cowboys star will keep the Tony Romo lurvin' a-comin', I can't hate. She's got a good man in him (well, a cute man, at least) ... I don't blame her for workin' overtime to hang on to him. [Source]

Veronika Stars

Sarah Michelle Gellar was spied on the streets of a very hot (and I'm hearing miserable) New York City this week making her way to and fro her trailer on the set of her new movie Veronika Decides to Die which is currently filming:

I love that SMG is bringing back the big, bug-eyed sunglasses that Hollywood "It" Girl Nicole Richie made the summer fashion trend a few summers ago. I'm also glad that SMG is hard at work on a new movie ... er, one that doesn't have Scooby Doo in the title, that is. I think the world could always use a little more SMG. [Source]

Darkness Calls

Apple may have just announced the release of the second generation iPhone yesterday (which, IMHO, doesn't have enough changes to warrant me picking up a new one to replace my old one) but I'm a bit more excited about the prospect of the new Batphone The Dark Knight Edition Nokia 6205 cellphone from Verizon. Okay, not really ... but I have always dreamed of one day owning a Batphone. Unless this thing turns red and starts flashing when a call comes thru, I might take a pass ... here is is anyways:

Don't get us wrong, there's nothing wrong with Batman, nor is there anything wrong with this phone (that we know of, anyway) -- we're just having a hard time saying the full name of it with a straight face. The rumored Nokia flip is getting really close to release, it seems, and Verizon's getting the party started with "The Dark Knight Edition" which will come loaded with some "exclusive" content related to the latest Gotham City thriller. With a 1.3 megapixel cam, GPS, Bluetooth, and EV-DO, it's not likely to set Verizon's retail stores ablaze with sales -- but more importantly, it marks a renewed interest on Nokia's part in bringing decent equipment to the CDMA side of the fence. Look for it to be available on June 15 for $119.99 on a two-year contract before rebate.

See ... I always figured Batman for more of a BlackBerry type of fellow. That way he can BBM with Alfred or Robin while he's lying in wait for the bad guys to do something bad. That being said, I'm anxiously awaiting the release of the BlackBerry Bold and will leave the new iPhone and this Batphone to other more overzealous parties. [Source]

Dressing Down

David Beckham was lookin' pretty casual as he made his way into the ABC studios this week (mostly hidden behind his larger male bodyguard) to tape an appearance for Jimmy Kimmel Game Night which is set to air ahead of the next NBA Finals game in the Eastern and Central time zones and after the game in the Mountain and Pacific zones ... here are a couple of pics:

Other guests on the Kimmel show include Magic Johnson, Adam Sandler and Liv Tyler. It's horrible, I know, but I've not been paying much attention to the NBA Finals despite the fact that my adopted LA Lakers are playing for the championship. I do know that they've lost the first two games to the Boston Celtics (who took my beloved Detroit Pistons out of contention). But if Becks is appearing in this little Kimmel show, then I might have to tune in at least once. I love it when Becks goes casual ... cuz that's when he wears his white flip flops. It's a cute look for him ... and don't look at me weird like I'm a fetishist cuz I know many of y'all feel the same. [Source]

The TV Guide: Gettin' Down To The Wire

UGH! You don't even want to know what kind of week I've been having thus far ... but I'm gonna clue y'all in anyways ;) Things on the redesign/relaunch are coming together at a furious pace and I'm pretty confident that the site will be tweaked to near perfection by the launch day on Thursday ... then y'all can have at it and tell me what's wrong or still needs fixing :) Honestly, I'm really looking forward to hearing input from all y'all on what you like, don't like or you find doesn't work or look right once the site goes live. I have a great team of folks who are working very hard to test everything, tweak everything, etc. but I'm sure we wont catch it all. With new functionality come new unknown problems. Things that are commonplace on other sites may take some time to get just right on the new Pink is the new Blog.

It's exciting, tho. The site looks great ... it's different enough to warrant this relaunch and yet still retains the general look and feel of the site as it is now.

I'll be glad once it's all over, to tell you the truth. I'm very much looking forward to the day when I can get back into a normal blogging routine.

Much love and apologizes for putting up with the sparse posting over the past few days ... just this morning (and I suspect all afternoon), I got caught up helping put out fires which obvs takes away from my work schedule. But, we're close and are on track for a successful relaunch on Thursday. I can't wait for us all to start playing with the new site together :)

Carrie Underwood Does Cosmopolitan Magazine

America's favorite Country poplet Carrie Underwood is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. In her coverstory interview, Carrie talks to the mag about her innate unsexiness ("I don't consider myself sexy ... I'm kind of a nervous person in general. I'm socially awkward. I'm not tall and sensuous. I usually wear sweats everywhere I go. Oh, and I burp a lot.") her #1 relationship no-no ("Cheating is a dealbreaker. If you cheat you're gone…Getting revenge on a guy is just not worth it to me ... the best revenge I can think of is becoming famous.") among other things. Here is Carrie's cute and simple cover:

This year, Carrie Underwood won her third Grammy and toured for her megahit second album. Here, the private singer opens up about her "carnival ride" career and new perspective on love. Just three short years after winning the fourth season of American Idol , 25-year-old Carrie Underwood has seemingly undergone a radical transformation — from a shy, plainly dressed girl from Checotah, Oklahoma, to a chart-topping singer who performs in front of massive sold-out stadium crowds, sporting sexy above-the knee boots and black mini shorts. The keyword here is seemingly. The second she wraps her Cosmo cover shoot at a New York City photo studio, the petite blond sheds the designer duds that she’s been expertly posing in and slips into her own clothes: loose-fitting gray sweatpants, a blue hoodie sweatshirt, and white sneakers.

That's my Oklahoma girl ... keepin' it real to the very last. As much as I am not a Country Music fan, I find that I really enjoy both Carrie's music and her whole persona. For me, she is one of the very rare shining stars to come out of American Idol and I couldn't be more happy for her success. The entire Cosmo interview with Carrie comes out in the July issue which hit newsstands today. Check it out ... and then you'll get a feel for all the Okie folks that I came to know and love thru my college years at OU and you'll understand why I miss that place all the time. [Source]

Here are a couple new pics of an A-List actor in full make-up and costume on the set of his new movie The Informant here in SoCal ... do you recognize him?

An Incredible Cameo

ATTENTION: THE INCREDIBLE HULK SPOILER ALERT WARNING

Well ... okay, it's not necessarily a spoiler since the information that I'm about to discuss is displayed prominently in one of the trailers for The Incredible Hulk but before the Sex and the City Movie was released, I caught one trailer that gave away FAR TOO MUCH info for my liking and, as a result, I stopped watching any trailers or commercials for the movie to keep from learning any more than I had already learned. If you would like to remain completely unspoiled in regards to The Incredible Hulk then try to look away now ...

... otherwise, check out this photo and read on:

Essentially, Marvel decided to throw in a Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) cameo in the new Incredible Hulk movie and then prominently advertise the cameo in TV commercials to A.) create a link between the two superhero stories, B.) lay the groundwork for the future Avengers movie and C.) try and get folks who liked Iron Man to take a chance on liking The Incredible Hulk (ie. the folks who came out to see Iron Man and may not be comic book fans but liked the movie cuz it ruled). In all three respects, I think it's brills. Personally, I think it would've been much cooler to sit on the surprise cameo until the movie got released but ... hey, they're trying to presell tickets, I get it. Yo Bro!

So ... in the short history of reality TV programming we've had Bachelors lookin' for ladies, Bachelorettes lookin' for dudes and this summer, we'll have Paris Hilton lookin' for a new BFF ... so of course Brody Jenner, of The Hills fame, has to get in on the action as well. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Brody Jenner just signed on for his own competitive reality TV show for MTV entitled Bromance, wherein interested "bros" (I'm assuming straight dudes) compete for a chance to become an official part of Brody's entourage. Um yeah:

The network has committed to six episodes of "Bromance," which has been buzzed about online recently. The show, from Ryan Seacrest's production company, will feature a group of "regular guys" who come to Hollywood and compete in a series of challenges from skydiving to dealing with the paparazzi -- in the hopes of ultimately being chosen by Jenner to become part of his entourage. Along the way, contestants will be whittled down via "Hot Tub Elimination Ceremonies" after which rejected "bros" will be asked to leave the bachelor pad dripping wet in a swimsuit, luggage in hand. Bringing to mind various dating reality shows, contestants also will have shots at a "group date" and "alone time" with Jenner in every episode. "'Bromance' takes a successful TV format and turns it on its head," MTV senior vp series development Liz Gateley said. "Brody is the perfect fit for this concept; he is type of guy everyone wants to hang out with." ... Frankie Delgado, who also appears on "The Hills," is a producer. The project was packaged by ICM.

OMG! I love it! I can't wait to see what these "hot tub eliminations" look like ... not to mention the "group date" and "alone time" segments. So lemme get this straight, interested "regular guys" are going to compete for "alone time" with Brody Jenner in the hopes that they escape "hot tub elimination" on a weekly basis? And the prize is, essentially, winning Brody Jenner? Didn't we already see a show like this called Boy Meets Boy? Hee hee ... I jest, I jest. I dunno if this sort of thing has the wings to fly but it's an interesting-sounding concept. I can attest that hanging out with Brody Jenner is really fun so the prize is deffo worthwhile. I'm glad that Brody's getting his own show ... it'd be cool to see him on TV from week to week ... well, again. I just hope that Bromance stays on the air longer than Princes of Malibu did ;) [Source]

Prince Wills Takes A Dive

Prince William is really gettin his feet wet with his new Navy training ... literally. Prince Wills and his naval cohorts took part in wet winching drills in Portland Harbour this week ... here are a couple pics of Wills after he was deposited into the water and then hoisted back up:

As part of his training, Wills was ejected into the sea and he had to release smoke flares to gain the attention of his "rescuers" ... then he was hoisted back up to "safety" by a Lynx helicopter. Sounds like fun to me. Even tho his military training looks a bit like an episode of Fear Factor, I'm sure that Wills is taking it all seriously. Besides, I'm sure that all of this hardcore military training goes a long way in inspiring his girlfriend Kate Middleton to show him a little more lurvin'. But honey pie, I had to jump out of a helicopter into the Portland Harbour todaaaaaay = nookie. [Source]

While Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott are welcoming the arrival of their baby daughter Stella Doreen and Jessica Alba & Cash Warren are welcoming the arrival of their baby daughter Honor Marie, Amy Winehouse is welcoming an arrival of her own ... and that can't be a good thing:

Poor thing. I'm not sure what exactly is in this pet carrier but I'm sure it's not all that excited about A.) living in that residence and B.) having Amy Winehouse care for it. I have my concerns too ... I just hope that Amy doesn't smoke it. [Source]

Tori Spelling gave birth to her second child at 3:13PM PT today ... bringing forth into the world a beautiful, bouncing baby girl:

Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott welcomed their second child, a daughter, on Monday, PEOPLE has confirmed. Stella Doreen McDermott was born at 3:13 p.m. in a Los Angeles hospital via C-section. She weighed 6 lbs., 8 oz. and was 19 3/4 inches long, a rep for Spelling says.

Newborn Stella is the second child for Tori and hubby Dean McDermott (they already have a 1 year old son named Liam Aaron) ... he has a child from a previous marriage. Much congrats to the happy couple on the birth of their baby girl. [Source]

Sloppy Seconds?

Lindsay Lohan is featured in a new campaign for the Visa Fashion Swapping event in the UK wherein she is photographed wearing second-hand clothing which, on her hot bod, looks pretty damn slick ... here are a few pics:

Hollywood stars usually hate being pictured in an outfit which has been worn before. But actress Lindsay Lohan showed she was proud to wear second-hand clothing as part of a campaign for ethical fashion. The 22-year-old was pictured wearing vintage clothes in a bid to encourage people to swap their unwanted threads. Lindsay is fronting this year's Visa fashion swapping event, which will take place in London this month in association with clothing charity TRAID. And she had no trouble making the re-cycled clothing look like they had just come off the shelf of a designer store. In one picture the sexy actress looked racy in a simple black blazer and a short red mini skirt. And without a top or bra under the blazer, the singer looked seductive as she posed for the campaign. Lindsay who has recently started her own fashion leggings range looked stunning in the second hand attire. The star who is backing the campaign to encourage shoppers to swap their unwanted clothing in the Visa Swap shop in Covent Garden says she is excited to have taken over this years event ... Lindsay said: "The concept of swapping clothes, getting something for nothing and refreshing your wardrobe appeals to everyone."

MMM MMM ... Lindsay generally looks good in anything that she wears, so it shouldn't be difficult for her to inspire others to participate in this Visa Fashion Swap event to help raise money for TRAID (the Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development). Linds is lookin' pretty sexy for a charity that sounds so dry. Leave it to L. Lo to sex up recycling :) [Source]

Chop Chop

Hayden Panettiere, who was spied lookin' all cute and cozy with her paramour Milo Ventimiglia backstage on the set of Heroes last week, was spotted out and about over the weekend showing off a new hairdo:

I hope this haircut was authorized by the Heroes producers ... not to mention her dude Milo ;) I'm not sure how I feel about it, to be honest, it looks a bit uneven in the back. Watch it turn out to be a janky wig or something ... course, if it's not a wig and it's just a janky haircut, well, oops. [Source]

L. Lo In Labor

Lindsay Lohan spent part of her weekend relaxing by the pool at the Roosevelt Hotel but was up bright and early today to be on set for her new movie Labor Pains which is currently filming in Woodland Hills, CA. Here are pics of Lindsay and 6 of her closest friends arriving on set this morning:

You know, now that it's the "in" thing to be all responsible and not crazy, I bet Lindsay really working towards keeping her life on track so that she doesn't end up ruining what great progress she's accomplished over the past few months. I think this is a great sign of things to come ... I am very much looking forward to the new, improved and stable Lindsay Lohan. [Source]

For The Lurve Of Becks

Our boy David Beckham has been known to inspire love and devotion from hordes of people, both men and women, the world over and is generally not all that surprised when he ventures out in public when he is accosted or surrounded by his legions of fans. There ain't much that fans can do to shock our dear Becks ... that is until he took to the field at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA this weekend as the LA Galaxy took on the Colorado Rapids in gameplay. An overzealous fan ran into the field to show Becks how much he loves him ... and then was immediately given the smack-down by LA Galaxy player Chris Klein ... here are a few pics of the lurvefest:

David Beckham received a new first in his playing career today when a 'love struck' male fan ran onto the field to hug and high-five him, as his LA Galaxy side clung to a 3-2 lead over the Colorado Rapids in America's Major League Soccer. A shocked Beckham looked on as the fan was knocked down by Galaxy teammate Chris Klein and then pinned by one of Beckham's suited security men. But ever the gentleman, after realizing he was in no danger, Beckham helped pull the fan to his feet before the youngster was taken away. "I was slightly concerned when I first saw him running at me because he didn't have a smile on his face and he didn't have a Galaxy shirt on," Beckham told the LA Times website. "So I didn't know if he was going to come and give me a hug or something else. These things happen in games all over the world. Luckily, he just wanted to give me a high five and that was the end of it."

Awww ... what a good sport. Becks is a sweetie even when he's not sure if he's about to be accosted by an unknown assailant. Good for him. Pics not enough? Click HERE to watch the video. [Source, Source]

In related news, the littlest Beckham, Cruz, showed up at the Galaxy vs. Rapids game over the weekend showing off a few new tattoos ... just like his daddy:

Aww ... so cute. You know, it won't be long before these pretend tattoos become real tattoos. Something tells me that the Beckham boys are prolly gonna follow in their father's body modification footsteps very early on ... surely to the chagrin of their parents. Cruz would look ace with a full back tattoo, no? [Source]

The TV Guide: Sex! Sex! Sex!

Yesterday was pretty chill ... I ended up staying home for most of the day to work on redesign stuff. OY! There is still so much more to and I keep looking at that countdown clock and it's stressin' me OUT bigtime :) I'm glad I have David here because he is a wiz and will, hopefully, be able to help sort out the last minute stuff we've got left to take care of. That being said, there is still a chance my head might explode so ... fun times ahead ;)

We did venture out last night to meet up with Steph, Alek, Jordan and his friend to see Sex and the City (the third time for me, second time for S&A and first time for David, Jordan and his friend) ... after the movie, Jo Jo and his friend had to jet off while the rest of us grabbed some grub:

Then it was back home to work again. This afternoon, more work awaits ... I have a bazillion other things to do as well in the next couple of days. Sarah arrives tomorrow night and then the big party Wednesday night ahead of the relaunch ... Gods, give me strength.

Merde!

Mischa Barton was among the attendees at the annual A Time for Heroes Celebrity Carnival here in LA yesterday and I came upon a couple photos of Mischa enjoying everything that the party had to offer:

She's one of Hollywood's most glamorous young stars often praised for her sense of style and elegance. However Mischa Barton has fallen foul to that much-dreaded social faux-pas - treading in dog mess. The beautiful 22-year-old, sporting a pair of pink butterfly wings, was leaving the Hero Awards in Los Angeles with her mother when she took a wrong step and stood in the canine excrement. Fortunately Barton appeared unfazed by the mishap when it was pointed out to her by another guest.

Hee hee ... I think it's a bit much to say that Mischa Barton is "one of Hollywood's most glamorous young stars often praised for her sense of style and elegance" but I do feel bad that the poor girl stepped in a pile of dog doo while wearing her fabulous Christian Louboutin shoes. Tho, I feel worse for her guest/assistant/whoever who it fell upon to scrape the mess off Mischa's shoes. ICK but LOL! [Source]

The Incredible Hulk Premieres

Hollywood's second stab at a big screen movie adaptation of The Incredible Hulk had its Hollywood premiere here at Universal City at Universal Studios in the Gibson Amphitheatre yesterday afternoon. The Incredible Hulk stars Ed Norton, Liv Tyler and Tim Roth were joined by folks like TV's own Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno, Buffy alum and Dexter star Julie Benz and Days of our Lives star Alison Sweeney among others. Here are a few pics of these folks as they took to the green carpet Sunday afternoon:

On the one hand, I'm glad that they are giving the Hulk another shot at box office glory ... on the other hand, I'm afraid it might turn out just as terrrrrible as Ang Lee's movie Hulk. I'm encouraged that the story is much more in line with both the comic books and the 1970's TV series but the CGI graphics kinda look a bit similar (ie. kinda Shrekish). My gut tells me that this movie will be better than the previous Hulk movie but it remains to be seen if that will actually the case. The movie opens in theaters this coming Friday ... I hope it has an incredible opening weekend :) Yes, I should be shot for that lame line. [Source]

Super Heroes

While a few celebs partook of the 2008 LA Pride festivities in West Hollywood, CA and a bunch of others made their way out to Santa Monica, CA for The 6th Annual TV Land Awards ... others still made their way out to the Wadsworth Theatre Grounds in Los Angeles, CA yesterday to participate at the annual A Time for Heroes Celebrity Carnival (which benefits the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation). Here are a bunch of pics of some of the folks who came out for the carnival yesterday:

Awww ... it looks like Nic/Joel, Speidi and Lance Bass all made friends with Barney the dinosaur -- which is really funny because my friend Darion ran into Lance later on yesterday night at a private Pride pool party and had little encounter with him. I wonder if Lance grabbed Barney's butt, too? Anyways, I love that Heroes star Zachary Quinto, Buffy alum Seth Green and ex-Young and the Restless star Lauralee Bell all came out to support the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. It is very heartening that Young Hollywood is so willing to lend their support to such an amazing charity. It's events like this that give me hope that Hollywood isn't really filled with vapid, self-serving folks and that people actually care. Wee! [Source]

TV Royalty Gets Its Day In The Sun

The 6th Annual TV Land Awards took place at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, CA yesterday and a cavalcade of classic TV stars took to the red carpet for the event. It must be said, tho, that whoever the genius was who decided to make the celebs walk the carpet (and be photographed) in the blinding mid-day SoCal sun should be fired ... you could almost see the make-up melting off the faces of some of our most beloved and revered classic TV celebs. Too cruel ... too cruel, indeed. Anyways ... here are a few photos from the TV Land Awards red carpet and a few golden moments as noted by USA Today:

As usual, the TV Land Awards brought together an unusual collection of Hollywood stars. On the red carpet and during the show, taped Sunday, they joked around or, more seriously, shared details of their lives. USA TODAY was at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., to catch the action:

Lionel Richie, who was presented the Icon Award for his 40 years in show business. He said on stage as he accepted his award, "Just surviving 27 years of Nicole Richie. … I stand here as survivor."

Justin Timberlake, who presented Mike Myers with his award. He was greeted by shouts of love from a male audience member. "That's OK. Nothing wrong with a little bromance," Timberlake joked.

Dawn Wells of Gilligan's Island. She talked about the October arrest in Idaho that made headlines in February; she was placed on probation after being caught with marijuana in her car. "None of it was true," Wells said. "I was weaving on the road and trying to find the (car) heater. (Police) never gave me a breathalyzer test, but they asked to search my car and found three (marijuana) roaches. My friend had been driving my car earlier in the day. He admitted to it all." She continued, "The story mushroomed, and I lost out on a Girl Scout speaking engagement."

Gary Coleman of Diff'rent Strokes. Coleman walked the carpet solo but says that despite reports, he and wife Shannon Price are still together. Their one-year anniversary is Aug. 28, and she is expecting him "to come up with something spectacular," he says. He wouldn't comment on reports that he's still a virgin, but he had plenty to say about Price otherwise: She likes to sell items on eBay, including Coleman autographs. And she wasn't with him because she was at home, where "she has three dachshunds. She is very much a caregiver to them."

Um, hello! Clearly the most Golden moment of the whole affair was the arrival of 3 of the Golden Girls on the TV Land red carpet -- Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan and Betty White. Altho all 4 of the Golden Girls are still alive, Estelle Getty suffers from Lewy Body Dementia and is no longer well enough to able to make public appearances (Rue McClanahan revealed in an interview a few years ago that Estelle has deteriorated to the point where she no longer recognizes any of her GG co-stars and, very sadly, has no recollection at all of the show). I know Estelle was there in spirit tho, she is always present in spirit whenever the Golden Girls get together. Despite the fact that we are inundated with a plethora of (oftentimes useless) award shows, I really love the TV Land Awards for the mere fact that all of our favorite classic TV stars have a chance to be featured all together at least once a year. I mean, how else would Barry Williams be able to occupy his days? The TV Land Awards will air on TV Land on June 15th. [Source]

Cuchi-Cuchi, Bitches!

Olivia Newton-John wasn't the only fabulous international performer to take the stage here in West Hollywood, CA this weekend to perform for the 2008 LA Pride celebration ... María del Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza Rasten was also in the hiz to perform for the assembled revelers. You may know her better as Charo:

Seriously ... Charo has to be the one of the fiercest women IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. I've been a huge fan of Charo ever since I was a little kid ... my parents have been big fans of her for years. Some of you may know Charo from her stint on The Surreal Life a few years ago but she has been an accomplished performer for decades now. I wish I had known that Charo was performing this weekend cuz I would've gotten my buns down to the fete to see her perform. This post is for my boy Erik back home in Detroit who has to be the biggest Charo fan I've ever met ... I'm sending out a major Cuchi-Cuchi to you!!! [Source]

Take Pride In Your Work

Australia's own Olivia Newton-John (who we last saw earlier this year trekking along in China for her Great Walk to Beijing charity walk with Dannii Minogue among others) was the headlining performer at the 2008 LA Gay Pride celebration in West Hollywood, CA this weekend. Here are a few pics of Olivia on stage during her performance:

From what I understand, this weekend's performance will be her only concert stop of the year. After Olivia completed her second of two encores, she was brought back on stage to be presented a proclamation from the City of West Hollywood which essentially named her the coolest woman on Earth! This year's Pride event scored a real coup by getting Olivia Newton-John to perform but it was really no surprise me. Olivia has been a huge supporter of GLBT rights and it made total sense that she would sign on to headline this year's event. Olivia, it is with all sincerity that I say, I Honestly Love You :) [Source]

Jessica Alba Gives Birth To A Baby Girl ... Possibly

US Weekly is reporting that Jessica Alba and new hubby Cash Warren became the proud parents of a baby girl that was born "sometime" this weekend here in SoCal. According to the mag (which is, thus far, the only publication reporting this news), the baby was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and granddaddy Alba was overheard talking about how beautiful the baby girl is. No formal official confirmation has been released by the couple thus far:

Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren have welcomed a baby girl. She was born this weekend at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Alba's father was overheard saying "she's beautiful." Warren -- in a T-shirt, jeans and baseball cap -- was spotted carrying food into the maternity ward Sunday. Her rep had no comment. Alba, 26, and Warren, 28, announced they were expecting last December.

HMMM ... the report is very light on deets and has no official confirmation. Also, People magazine has yet to report this news so ... I'm holding off on the congrats until we know for sure. [Source]

UPDATE: People magazine got confirmaion from the couple's rep, they did indeed have a baby girl:

Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren have welcomed a baby girl. Honor Marie Warren was born June 7 in Los Angeles, her rep, Brad Cafarelli, confirms. This is the couple's first child.

Accordingly, much congrats are in order!!!

(On My) Radar

Hot on the heels of the rumored cover artwork for Madonna's new single Give It 2 Me comes this first look at the supposed cover artwork of Britney Spears's new single Radar ... as reported by World of Britney:

This single cover artwork looks less authentic than the Madonna artwork but, again, who knows if any or either of these photos are genuine. It's not a bad pic either way ... I guess we'll find out soon enough. [Source]

Eva Mendes stars as Sand Saref in Frank Miller's new movie The Spirit which opens in theaters this Xmas ... here are a couple hawt posters featuring Ms. Mendes in the role:

I absolutely love anything with Frank Miller's name on it so I am eagerly awaiting this film. Sin City did wonders for Jessica Alba's career, I'm hoping that The Spirit does the same for Eva Mendes. We need a lot more hawt latina actresses in big roles like this ... Eva is a beauty and I can't wait to see her in the role. [Source]

Earth Angel

Ex-American Idol season 5 winner Taylor Hicks made his official Broadway debut in NYC this past Friday night starring in the new production of Grease at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Hicks plays the Teen Angel in the production (a role made famous on the big screen by Frankie Avalon) ... here are a few pics from his opening night performance:

"American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks makes his Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated revival of Grease at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre June 6. Hicks, who was the Season Five "American Idol" winner, succeeds Stephen Buntrock as Teen Angel in the summer-lovin' musical. The Alabama native is scheduled to stay with the production through Sept. 7. In a recent statement "Idol" winner Hicks said, "I am incredibly excited to be a part of one of my favorite musicals. The Soul Patrol's gonna invade Broadway!"

Now see ... I know that Taylor Hicks isn't all that old (he was born in 1976) but he normally looks pretty old with all that grey hair ... this Grease hairdo doesn't do much to make him look any younger. Nonetheless, I'm sure that Taylor Hicks will do a fine job on Broadway. He is a talented singer, which puts him ahead of the game of some of the other celebs doing stints on Broadway. I find him way more talented than Clay Aiken, so he gets my vote for Idol on Broadway. [Source]

Give It 2 Me Artwork Revealed ... I Think

Here is our first look at what is purported to be the cover artwork for the new Madonna single Give It 2 Me:

There really has been no official confirmation of this cover artwork's authenticity (official confirmation comes out this week) but it looks pretty genuine ... tho, the InterWeb does make it very difficult to ascertain what is real and what is fake these days. Nonetheless, I think it's worth posting so ... enjoy!! [thanks Kevin]

The TV Guide: Say Cheese!

Yesterday turned out to be a whole lot more fun than I thought it would ... Le GangTM decided that we needed to take a family portrait together so (after a bunch of scheduling conflicts) we finally decided that yesterday would be our photo session at the Sears Portrait Studio. We decided to wear different color American Apparel track jackets as our outfits and convened en masse in Santa Monica for the shoot. Without further ado, here are some of the pics that we took:

There was a bit of stress getting everything coordinated but once we got in front of the cameras we had a blast! The pics came out so well, I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome. We ordered all of these pics in various configurations so I can't wait to see the final products.

In between shoots, some of us sneaked away to take our own fun pics around the Sears Portrait Studio:

If you can believe it, I ordered one of the group shots (the one with the paint buckets and brush) be made into a full-size, knit throw blanket! Ha! I can't wait for it to be made :)

After the shoot, Paul had to jet off to meet up with Corey but the rest of us went out to dinner at Baja Cantina in Venice, CA for dinner:

Yes, that monstrously large coconut margarita was all mine for the drinking ... and it was well worth the numerous brain freezes to get to the bottom of that massive tub o' booze.

After dinner, Kirsten ran off to meet up with some boys (hopefully to smooch on) and Mike peaced out for home ... then the rest of us went over to Darion's place to play a little Rock Band ...

... cut to 4 hours later, I'm still shrieking on the mic, David was kicking ass on the drums and Darion was rawkin' out on the guitar. Poor Steph and Alek ... they looked like they wanted to shove sharpened pencils into their ears with every song we did. We had a blast tho, as these pics can attest.

This afternoon, David and I are hoping to head over to Adriana's place for her birthday shindig and then we're thinking about meeting up with some of the guys to see a movie. David hasn't seen Sex and the City yet ... and I know that we'd be happy to see it again with him :) I hope all y'alls weekend is going well ... we are having a blast!!!

Hot Dude Of The Week: Nick

It's that time of the week again ... that happy time that we pause to take a gander at the Hot Dude of the Week (huzzah!). This week we've got ourselves a new young chap, who has an affinity for body oil and micro swimwear ... say hello to Nick:

SoCal has finally warmed up to the point where one can take regular trips to the beach to soak up the sun and/or go for a swim in the surf ... and with enjoyable sights like Nick to sweeten the pot, well, you can see how much of an alluring prospect that is. As much fun as it is to see mere photos of Hot Dudes like Nick, I bet it's much more fun to actually meet them in person ... which I why I'm very excited that a few of the Hot Dudes from All American Guys will be coming to my Pink is the new Blog Relaunch Party this Wednesday night :) Because the gents will be coming to the party as guests, I suspect they'll be wearing actual clothes (boo) ... but there will still be fun pics to share, I'm sure ;) Woot!!! Sometimes They Grow Up

Hollywood "It" Girl turned Hollywood "It" Mom Nicole Richie was snapped taking her precious little baby girl Harlow Winter out for a morning stroll in Glendale, CA this weekend ... here are a couple of pics:

I have to say ... it's really remarkable how much things have changed in the world of Hollywood "It" Girldom and celebrity overall. Gone are the days of the wild parties and the crazy antics for ladies like Nicole, Britney and even Paris. I never thought I'd see the day where the "It" Girls would grow up and become responsible mothers. I must admit, tho, that I kinda miss the halcion days when the "It" Girls would do some whacky stunt or whatever, allowing us to laugh along with them. It really seemed to me that the "wackiness" jumped the shark around the time that the wardrobe malfunctions started up (and really spiraled downward once they started getting arrested). Once it became de rigueur for a boob or a naked crotch to be the talk of the day (not to mention the latest mug shot), things stopped being fun and started getting trashy. Who knew that the women were mere months away from really cleaning up their acts and settling down with children or serious relationships? Even Hollywood "It" Girls can grow up and mature, imagine that. While those whacky days of yore were fun, I much prefer seeing the ladies settle down with their families. Now we can look forward to seeing new baby pictures rather than new mug shots. [Source]

The Dynamic Duo

Hollywood's favorite BFFs du jour, Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson, have been hitting up all the usual hot spots around SoCal in recent weeks (whippin' up a frenzy wherever they go) and decided to take a little shopping trip together to The Grove in Glendale, CA for some illin' and some chillin'. Here are pics of Sam and Linds upon their arrival at The Grove this weekend:

I'm pretty surprised how much ado everyone has been makin' over nothing when it comes to these two ladies. The pair have been really good friends for a very long time so I don't really get why everyone is all agog that they seem so close lately. To me they seem like just another pair of besties where one is a superstar DJ and the other is a Hollywood "It" Girl ... you know, your regular ol' run-of-the-mill sort of friendship. I'm convinced that the ladies are having a fun time watching everyone fall over themselves to try and "figure out" what is going on between the two of them. I think it's brills and totally fun. I can't wait to see where the friends will show up next ... and how many photogs will be tripping over themselves in their wake. [Source]

Trent Reznor Does The New York Times

Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails (the best mothereffing group on Earth, IMHO) is featured in today's issue of the New York Times Music section wherein he talks about his new style of releasing music (ie. giving it away for free), how much little thought process was involved before he created his recent 2-disc collection of instrumental music called Ghosts I-IV (saying that he set out to record the new material "with very little forethought"), how the latest NIN album, The Slip, was completely created in just three weeks (after only a month of songwriting) and more. Here are portions of the NYT piece on Mr. NIN:

"This one's on me," Mr. Reznor announces on that Web page. The album was downloaded more than a million times before the end of May, according to him. A retail CD version of "The Slip" is due shortly before Nine Inch Nails starts its tour on July 25 in Vancouver. "Aside from any kind of monetization of it, I'm glad to know that a million people have it on their iPods," Mr. Reznor said. "If you paid for it, great, but I want everyone to hear it, you know? I want to blow people's minds." He has joined the superstar exodus from major labels. Acts with large audiences and established brands like Radiohead, Madonna and the Eagles no longer need the labels' star-making clout. They have calculated that they can do better, and have more options, outside the old system. Now that Mr. Reznor has finished his contract with Interscope Records, he is following his impulses on when to release music. "I don't have to ask permission," he said. The situation suits his business sense and his temperament. In "Head Like a Hole," the climax of countless Nine Inch Nails concerts, he sings, "I'd rather die than give you control." Mr. Reznor, 43, is an unlikely combination of recluse, showman, tortured Romantic, workaholic and tech geek — which may just be an effective personality for a musician in the digital age. His songs have become perennial adolescent anthems because they blurt out frustration, fury and self-loathing in a dramatic balance of pop melodies and ominous, lacerating noise. And in conversation, he doesn't hide negative thoughts. "Fear has governed my life, if I think about it," he said. "I don't even know why I'm saying this in an interview situation, but I always feel like I'm not good enough for some reason. I wish that wasn't the case, but left to my own devices, that voice starts speaking up." He wonders, in the songs on "The Slip," whether he is irrelevant. The music revives Nine Inch Nails' past, from stomping hard rock to dance-club beats to piano ballad to inexorably building instrumentals. Yet amid walloping drums and distorted guitars — the sounds of angry youth — Mr. Reznor ponders his place in the present. "Start it up again like it matters anymore/I don't know if it does," he sings in "1,000,000." Nine Inch Nails, Mr. Reznor said, is "an aggressive, honest, naked, angry, ugly thing. I don't hear anybody doing anything like that right now that I'm aware of. Maybe there are, but it doesn't seem like it's the flavor of today." As a musician and fan, Mr. Reznor is an old-school rocker who is devoted to the album as a creative unit to be savored and pondered as a whole. But he has also reinvented himself as a digital-era adept. Unlike the Eagles and Radiohead he's not taking years to make albums; he has recognized that while he grew up treating an album like a novel, younger listeners, freely downloading music and setting their iPods on shuffle, are more likely to treat it like a magazine. Mr. Reznor lets his music travel freely at Internet speed, extending album concepts into parallel online universes. He's familiar with file-sharing sites and music blogs, including those that irk him by taking potshots at Nine Inch Nails. Playing live, his laptop now replaces pedals and effects. Mr. Reznor even posts online all the raw digital tracks from Nine Inch Nails albums for anyone to remix. "I'm done with them," he said. "Why not?" "Ghosts I-IV" grew out of ideas after a 2007 tour, which Mr. Reznor set out to record "with very little forethought," he said. He released the album in March, making it available in multiple formats, from a bargain downloadable version for $5 to standard CDs and LPs to a luxury $300 limited-edition boxed set of CDs, vinyl, DVDs and artwork. (The 2,500 copies of that set sold out immediately, for a quick gross of $750,000, and now fetch $500 on eBay.) "The Slip" was knocked out in three weeks of studio time after a month of songwriting. During the sessions he sent one song, "Discipline," to rock radio stations, which have given it Top 10 airplay. The new music, Mr. Reznor acknowledged, relies more often on reflexes than does an album like "The Fragile" (1999), on which every sound is painstakingly shaped; he said he expects his next project to take more "editorial time." With "The Slip," however, he finished recording the songs on a Wednesday and completed mixing, mastering and graphics to release the album five days later. "That was fun," Mr. Reznor said. "You never could have done that before." To release "Ghosts I-IV" and "The Slip" online Mr. Reznor found he needed software to distribute digital files, assemble databases and connect easily with other applications. That too will soon be available free. "We've spent the money to make it," Mr. Reznor said. "Take it." Going independent "was a weird feeling," he said. "It was bittersweet. It was happiness: 'We're finally, finally free of this bureaucracy. Oh, no, now what are we going to do?'" ... Mr. Reznor has no global solution for how to sustain a long-term career as a recording musician, much less start one, when listeners take free digital music for granted. "It's all out there," he added. "I don't agree that it should be free, but it is free, and you can either accept it or you can put your head in the sand." He knows what he doesn't want to do: make his music a marketing accessory. "Now just making good music, or great music, isn't enough," Mr. Reznor said. "Now I have to sell T-shirts, or I have to choose which whorish association is the least stinky. I don't really want to be on the side of a bus or in a BlackBerry ad hawking some product that sucks just so I can get my record out. I want to maintain some dignity and self-respect in the process, if that's possible these days." Nine Inch Nails was a multimillion-selling band throughout the 1990s and has steadily replenished one of rock's most loyal followings, filling arenas on tour ... Before the full band's first rehearsal, at a complex in Burbank, Mr. Reznor had an hourlong conference call with Moment Factory, a high-tech production company in Montreal. Mr. Reznor's eye for technology keeps colliding with his budget. "I don't make any money because I spend it on the production," he said. "But I can't afford to go lose money to play shows." With his longtime graphics co-conspirator, Rob Sheridan, at his side and an e-mail memo on his Mac laptop screen, Mr. Reznor went through a prospective set list, song by song, with Moment Factory, explaining where three giant video screens would be and which disorienting effects he wanted from the programmers and hardware makers — like being able to move a video frame across a musician that also changed the sound of his guitar. "What I'm trying to do is use the stage as an interactive instrument," Mr. Reznor said. "I'm in the world of science fiction now." Nine Inch Nails has been on the arena circuit since the mid-1990s. As Mr. Reznor’s audience grew, so did his ambitions and his self-destructive side: alcoholism and heroin addiction. He went through rehab in 1997, but he backslid as he labored over "The Fragile" for two years. "'The Fragile' ended me," he said. After the tour for "The Fragile," Mr. Reznor went silent for half a decade. He has been sober, he said, since 2001, but he did not release another album until "With Teeth" in 2005. He had feared that without his addictions he'd no longer be creative; he had also feared obsolescence. "I know how old I am," he said. "I'm not trying to fool anybody." ... "These days I work too much, I think, because it makes me feel good," Mr. Reznor said. "I don't know how to do that in a relationship. I don't have a family. I'd like to have one. I just haven't somehow gotten around to it yet. But I know that if I work, it's likely I'll come up with something I'm proud of and that gives me a sense of worth. Not for money or fame — it's, I feel good about it. So like any good addict, if I find something that feels good, if that feels good, maybe doing twice as much feels twice as, you know. ..." His day was just beginning. There was a photo shoot, a band rehearsal, more stage plotting. "Make me look cool," he said by way of goodbye. He caught himself, and laughed.

Brilliant. This has to be one of the most insightful profiles on Trent Reznor that I've read in a very long time. To be honest, I don't recall knowing that he suffered with a heroin addiction in his past (tho, I could just be forgetting) but I've always been impressed with the man's integrity and his commitment to staying true to his beliefs. I've been a huge NIN fan since 1988 and it is just really effing cool that they are still going strong after all these years. I can't wait to see NIN on tour later on this year ... it's been far too long since I've ventured into the depths of a mosh pit. Yes, I realize that that sounds horribly 1994 but it's really the only way to really experience Nine Inch Nails live ... so that is where I'll be. [Source]
