"If You're Still In, I'm Still In"

The least shocking news of the day is that Britney Spears failed to prove to the court that she is in any condition to spend any alone time with her young children, let alone be capable enough to care for them in any significant way. The big question was whether or not Britney was going to show up in court to hear this ruling in person or if she was going to skip out on court and have to hear about it thru her lawyers. It seemed pretty sure that Brit Brit was not going to show up at the courthouse yesterday morning but then there was movement in the early afternoon and it then appeared that she was going to show up after all ... and show up she did, wearing the wedding dress that she wore this past weekend, to face a crush of paparazzi -- only to turn tail, hop back into her car and leave the courthouse without having actually gone inside:

In a bizarre and chaotic scene outside the courthouse, Spears arrived for the afternoon session of the proceedings – but abruptly left the courthouse after paparazzi surrounded her. "I'm scared. I want to get in the car. I'm going in the car," she said after stepping out of the car as photographers crowded around her. Spears, 26, then got back in the car. Police tried to coax her out, but she slammed her back against the seat and shouted, "No!" Spears's car eventually drove off.

It seems odd that Britney would be frightened away by the paparazzi when she is surrounded by police at a courthouse but she is not frightened away from shopping malls, coffee shops, furniture stores or gas stations when she is surrounded by paps and there are no cops in sight. My guess is that she really didn't want to go to court but showed up to make it look like she wanted to go to court but was frightened away. Maybe in her mind the court would find favor in her attempt ... but that's not what happened, it only made her look as erratic as she has been lookin' over the past few months. [Source]

And so, the commissioner overseeing the Spederline custody battle really had no choice but to deny Britney visitation with her children, yet again, until the next court hearing on February 19. Here are pictures of Mark Vincent Kaplan, K-Fed's lawyer, addressing the media after the ruling was handed down and a page from the actual ruling itself:

L.A. Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled that Britney Spears' visitation rights have been suspended indefinitely. The next hearing is set for February 19. "The word victory is not something that Mr. Federline or his counsel would ascribe to the results of the court," Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told reporters after the ruling. "There is no joyous feeling," Kaplan added. "This is a grave situation for everybody. And while we believe Mr. Federline is pleased that the court did make an order that we feel is an appropriate, there is no joy in it for him." At [yesterday]'s hearing, a judge heard testimonies from Federline, two LAPD officers, court monitors Pamela Strong and Lisa Hacker and Spears' former bodyguard Lonnie Jones. Spears arrived at the courthouse briefly, but fled to go to a church to pray. "She was not ordered to be here today," Court PIO Alan Perichini told reporters. "She was welcome to come. It was my understanding the Sheriff's department did everything they could to facilitate her arrival."

Despite the fact that we can never really guess exactly what sort of insanity will come from Britney Spears on any given day, I think it's safe to assume that NONE of this comes as a surprise to anyone. Unfortch, no one really expects her to behave in any sort of rational way any longer. [Source]

After Britney fled the courthouse she apparently got a case of religion and decided to head off to a small church to pray or something. Honestly, many folks believed she and her new leech Adnan Ghalib were headed to the chapel to get hitched but that would've been impossible since Ghalib is already married to another woman. Britney's former leech Sam Lufti joined the party and went to the Little Brown Church in Van Nuys, CA with Britney and Ghalib where, according to OK! magazine, she "broke down" and then "cried her make-up off" at lunch afterwards:

A spokesperson for the Little Brown Church in Van Nuys, Calif., confirms exclusively to OK! that Britney Spears and her beau Adnan Ghalib were indeed at the place of worship on Monday following her quick visit to the courthouse. And witnesses tell OK! that the pop star had a minor meltdown inside — but were they there to get hitched? That would have been impossible, with Adnan already being married and no one but the nighttime caretaker on-hand.” No weddings were booked because the pastor's stepmother passed away and he is out of town attending the funeral," the church's spokesperson explains to OK!. It has also been confirmed that no weddings were held today or booked for the next week. So why were they there? "The church is a place of prayer open 24 hours of day for people seeking peace," says the spokesperson. Perhaps Brit was looking for the strength to deal with today's flubbed court hearing? Following the quick visit to the church, the pair headed over to Gaucho Grill on Ventura Blvd., where they are enjoyed a meal together with Sam Lutfi, who drove them both to and from the courthouse this afternoon. But according to eyewitnesses, all was not well. "She had cried all of her makeup off," one person outside the restaurant tells OK!. "She needed help walking and standing." The pop star was driven back to her home behind the gates of The Summit around 3:45pm PT

What is left to say. She is now in the care of 2 seemingly unscrupulous men and no longer seems interested in enjoying any time with her two sons who she claims to love. Britney has said that she would "die" for her children and yet, she cannot even find the resolve within herself to show up in court to try and prove that she even cares if she sees them again. I guess she no longer has room for Sean Preston and Jayden James now that she's got Adnan Ghalib and Sam Lufti. Sad, sad sad :( [Source, Source]

In NYC, Jess Weixler and John Hensley (from Nip/Tuck) were both on hand for the premiere of their new movie Teeth which was held in the Celeste Bartos Theater at The Museum of Modern Art last night. Here are a couple of pictures:

Now, I have been hearing buzz about Teeth for months now and was wondering when the movie would be released to theaters. Then when David and I saw Sweeney Todd in NYC I got to see the first trailer for the movie and was ... seriously grossed out and intrigued. I'm not exactly sure how to explain what the movie Teeth is all about but if you click HERE and watch the trailer for yourself, I think you'll be able to figure it out. It looks like, uh, an interesting movie ... I can't wait to see how the public recieves it. [Source]

Katie Holmes was lookin' all kinds of stunning last night, also in NYC, as she made her grand entrance to The Late Show with David Letterman. Wearing a hot red jacket and a whole lotta legs, Katiekins was a sight to behold:

Which makes it so unfortunate that she is so embroiled with Tom Cruise ... especially when you consider that THIS is the sort of thing that he is now best known for. Shame. [Source]

Elsewhere in NYC, Cobra Starship paid a little visit to the MTV Studios to make an appearance on TRL. Here are a few pics from their appearance on the show yesterday afternoon:

Well now ... Cobra Starship are becoming quite the little MTV darlings these days, aren't they? Could it be that CS may one day enjoy the heights of success that their Fall Out Boy predecessors have enjoyed in recent years? I, for one, really hope that this band does get to enjoy all the success in the world ... they are deffo the coolest kids around and they make some sick music. I'm really happy to see that they are getting more attention from the media cuz the world should be all about the Cobra Starship. One thing, tho, I'd advise Cobra Commander Gabe Saporta to go a little easy on the rouge ... the emo make-up may work for Pete Wentz but I dunno that it's a great look for Gabe ;) [Source]

Joel Madden has posted the official birth announcement of his newborn baby daughter with Nicole Richie on the DCMA Collective website. Here is the full text of Joel's message to the world concerning his babygirl Harlow Winter Kate Madden:

ITS A GIRL!!!!!

Well I am finally home with my beautiful girlfriend and our brand new little daughter. Harlow Winter Kate Madden was born on January 11th 2008 at 3:13pm. She weighed in at 6 pounds and 7 ounces. She is 19 inches long and growing everyday already! She really is a wonderful addition to the GC/DCMA/DEADEXEC family. We are so blessed to have this beautiful little baby in our lives. I want to thank everyone for all the love and kind words they've sent our way. We apologize we weren't accepting gifts/cards/calls at the hospital, but if you'd like to send something, we'd rather you make a donation to the richie-madden foundation, which we started in Harlow Winter's honor. She looks so much like her mom its crazy! She eats like a little maniac and she’s really sweet. She barely ever cries, even when daddy is changing her diaper, and believe me i suck when it comes to diapers, but i’m learning! I cant wait to show off some pictures, until then, THANKS!! and GOD BLESS ..... Joel

OMG ... isn't that the cutest thing ever? I am fairly sure that Joel and the entire Madden and Richie families are on Cloud 9 right about now. I am so happy that the baby was born healthy and happy ... and I wish them all a long a very happy life together. I, for one, would love to see video proof that Joel does indeed change diapers ... not that I doubt his sincereity but I'm just having a hard time visualizing it. Pictures of the beautiful baby can't come quickly enough. Again, congrats and much love!!! [Source]

Despite the fact that Jessica Simpson's people released word that she would not be attending this past weekend's Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants football game, the New York Post wasn't gonna take any chances ... apparently, a Jessica Simpson look-alike was hired to attend the game and sit right behind the Cowboys bench to try and shake 'em up:

The NEW YORK POST reports that it hired a woman who resembles Jessica Simpson to sit in the stands at Texas Stadium yesterday in order to distract the Dallas Cowboys during their playoff game against the New York Giants. NYP: "We sat her in the third row behind the Dallas bench, and she must have made the difference - (Tony) Romo's final drive was stopped short of the end zone." We're dubious of her effect on the 'Boys (then again, so THAT'S who Flozell Adams kept looking at!), as the Post only published one less-than-revealing photo of the woman. But, alas, it didn't take long to find more photos of her strewn across the web. The woman's name is Lynsey Nordstrom and the NYP reports she's a 21-year-old nanny from Bethell, Wash. The NEWARK STAR-LEDGER reports she's also a professional Jessica Simpson look-alike and "will show up in her Tony Romo jersey for her usual appearance fee: $500 for the first hour, then $250 each hour after that."

Effing brills! I'm all for good sportsmanship but in a situation like this, I can't help but love this idea. Who knows if it's what made the difference in the end -- the NYPost really wanted to see Dallas lose that that's exactly what happened. Hahahaha ... that is some seriously funny shizz ;) [Source, thanks Katie]

Paris Hilton was seen sucking face with a hot guy here in SoCal this week ...

... but what makes this different from any other day is that she was being paid by FILA sportswear do to the sucking. That's all ... carry on. [Source]

Mariah Carey has completed all of her holiday globetrotting this week as she was seen back home in NYC in the company of her BFF Da Brat and the love of her life, her pooch Jack:

Now that all over vacationing is finished maybe she can get back to work on that new album of hers which is due out sometime this year. I hope the damn thing comes out sooner rather than later since we were told last year that it would be released back in November and then was pushed back into 2008. I am in desperate need of some new Mimi ... I would love to be hearing something very soon. [Source]

Yesterday we saw pictures of Kylie Minogue making her way into the Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick down in Australia and today we have a couple pics of Kylie inside the hospital spending time with the sick children there:

The little darlings look so cute ... I just love that Kylie took the time to visit the kiddies to try and make them feel better as they recuperate in the hospital. [Source]

After Kylie's visit was finished, she packed her bags and headed for the airport where she boarded a plane bound for the good ol' US of A where she is scheduled to begin work on the music video for her new single Wow:

Kylie will also be here in the States to partake of the G'Day USA Australia Week events that are scheduled this month. This from the official G'Day USA website:

Growing from its inception in 2004 and celebrating its fifth year of success, Australia Week is now arguably the largest foreign country promotion held annually in the United States showcasing all things Australian from trade and investment, food and wine, film, arts, fashion, lifestyle, to indigenous culture and tourism. This ten day program of events highlights Australia's vitality as a place to visit, and a place to do business in the 21st Century. THE KEY OBJECTIVE: to demonstrate that Australia is an innovative, sophisticated economy, with leading edge research and technology in products, goods and services. In short, the overall goal is to raise Australia’s commercial and cultural profile in America. THE STRATEGY: create a series of concentrated events that are uniquely Australian so as to generate media profile and immerse the audience in relevant messaging as well as deliver commercial results for business, trade, investment and tourism. THE PHILOSOPHY: in securing sponsorship and partners we combine resources and talents tha advance the agenda for the mutual benefit of all invested parties.

This is amazing ... Kylie will be so close to where I am. I think maybe I might round up The GangTM so that we can host our own G'Day USA celebration at our friendly neighborhood Outback restaurant where we can celebrate with Aussie Cheese Fries (pronounced Ozzie Chayze Froys) and Wallaby-Darned mixed drinks. Maybe Kylie would be interested in attending? Woot! It would be so totally RIPPA!!!* [Source]

*apologies to the Aussie Pink readers out there who may be cringing in their seats as they read this ... I assure you, I am mostly kidding ;)

One last bit of Kylieness, here is our first look at the set of action figures that will be sold based on the recent Dr. Who Xmas Special which aired in the UK on Xmas day:

Kylie has been made into doll form before but I really like the way this one looks. The Barbie-type Kylie dolls that were made a couple of years ago didn't really look like her ... this one does. I like. [thanks Jon]

Carrie Underwood is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Shape magazine:

Red is a good color for her ... actually, I don't think I've met a color yet that doesn't look good on her. She's so damn purdy ... they really know how to grow 'em in Oklahoma. [Source]

And finally, here are a few more pictures from the new Versace ad campaign featuring Patrick Dempsey:

Hahahahaha ... I think he looks a bit silly in the sunglasses but he looks damn good in the other pics. Trust me, I much prefer my Patrick Dempsey as nekkid as possible but if I have to see the man fully-clothed, I'm happy to do so in fine Versace designs. [Source]

Les News:
After running around town yesterday taking care of a few things, I met up with Jim (who is finally home again after being away for so many weeks on his America's Next Top Model job) so that we could finally hang out for a bit together ... and we decided to, at long last, go see the movie Juno:

Let me state, for the record right off the bat, that I really loved this movie. It was funny, well cast, well acted and really very sweet and poignant overall. I bristled for a bit a first at how "indie" and "emo" it seemed. The dialog struck me as a bit forced, as if the screenwriter was trying too hard to make the audience aware of how "indie" the characters really were ... but once that fell away a bit, the heart of the story was able to step to the forefront and really take hold. Ellen Page was amazing ... she was so real, I can really see why everyone is going nuts for her performance. Jennifer Garner was a revelation. I've seen her in many things but this is the first time that I really loved her in anything. She was so delightful in this role -- I loved her character and I loved what she brought to the character with her acting. Michael Cera, on the other hand, I can do without at this point. He plays the same character in every thing I've ever seen him in. I'm sorry, if I have to see those pasty white legs in anything else in the near future, I'm gonna scream my head off. He was fine in this role but I didn't think he really brought anything new to his performance ... his awkward, geekyness just seemed recycled. But all negatives aside, I really responded to this movie. It did not turn out the way I thought it would ... which was a nice change of pace. Count me among the movie's supporters ... I really hope it continues to do well with the awards this season.

Tonight I'm meeting up with my friend Michael for dinner and hanging out ... I haven't seen him since before the holidays so it'll be nice to catch up with him. The weather here is getting really freaking nice ... yesterday's temp got near 80 and there were folks all over the place wearing shorts and tank tops already. I didn't think it was quite warm enough to dress that way myself but I can appreciate other people's excitedness. Shorts season is nearly upon us :)

That is all ... I'm out.
