Pretty Love Machine

Today is a lazy day for me ... after such an amazing night like last night, I thought it would be nice to sleep in for a bit today. But, no rest for the weary ... there is goss to be had so let's have at it.

Mariah Carey fans rejoice -- her new album is nearly upon us since we know now the release date is April 1 ... new album deets have been released and here is our first look at the album cover artwork for Mimi's new album titled That Chick:

Mariah Carey has set an April 1 release date for the follow-up to her mega-selling album "The Emancipation of Mimi," which was the biggest selling album of 2005. Dubbed "That Chick," the set features production from Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am and Rodney Jerkins, plus collaborations with the likes of T-Pain and Damian Marley. The album veers between breezy pop tunes like "Lovin' You Long Time" and the title track, ballads like "Love Story" and urban club bangers like the standout "Migrate." The latter features T-Pain in a guest slot, providing the counterpoint to Carey's anthemic "single girls on the town" lyrics with the killer line: "Don't wait for me to buy drinks, or you're going to dehydrate." Other highlights include the frisky R&B of "Touch My Body," with Carey cooing, "If there's a camera up in here then I best not catch this flick on YouTube," and the catchy "OOC" -- short for "out of control." There's also a new sound for Carey on "Cruise Control," which features Marley and sees the artist try her hand at Jamaican patois. "It's kind of strange but I heard a lot of her records and it sound like the album is better than the last album," Dupri recently told Billboard.

Interesting ... I'm really excited to hear any new music from Mimi and I love that she's working with some of the hottest new talent in the biz (what up, T-Pain) but I'm a bit concerned about her attempt at Jamaican patois. The first thing I thought was, I hope it doesn't sound like Britney's attempt at a British accent. This is great news ... and gives us something to look forward to come April Fool's Day. Pharrell and Joshua Jackson joined Marc Jacobs and others at the Louis Vuitton Men's Fall-Winter 2008-2009 fashion show in Paris, France this week ... here are a few pics from the show:

See, LV can be appreciated by both men and women. I never pegged Joshua Jackson as a fashionista but I approve. The new LV threads look pretty dope but are usually so pricey that they can't really be worn by real people. That said, it does give us something to aspire to, no? [Source]

Zac Efron fans can take heart ... Zacy poo has been released from the hopsital following his emergency appendectomy last week and was already back on the scene in Toluca Lake where he met up with Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale for lunch at Patty's Restaurant yesterday:

I understand that filming on Zac's new movie Seventeen was called off for the rest of this week so that Zac could recuperate before getting back to work. I'd expect a little trooper like Zac Efron to be back to normal in no time and back to work on his movie. [Source]

In other post-medical emergency news ... we now know what it was that forced Gwyneth Paltrow to be admitted to the hospital last week ... speculation ran amok that she and hubby Chris Martin may be expecting a new baby ... it turns out that she did suffer a malady in her stomach region, but it was deffo not baby related:

Gwyneth Paltrow was taken to New York's Mount Sinai Hospital Monday for "a little gastrointestinal situation," her pal, chef Mario Batali, told Usmagazine.com. "It's now been straightened out," he said at the grand opening of The Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas Thursday. "She's [doing] great." In three weeks, he said they're going to Majorca, Spain, and then Valencia, Spain, to shoot a PBS cooking show, set to air in October.

Aww ... poor Gwynnie. So either she had the runs or she couldn't "run" at all -- either case is kinda gross. And OUCH! Now I deffo believe that she and Chris are not having a baby ... this doesn't sound like your typical cover story. LOL! [Source]

In real baby news, Jessica Alba and her babydaddy Cash Warren were snapped making their way thru LAX airport all bundled up for their arrival in Park City, UT for the Sundance Film Festival that is going on right now:

It looks like they took great pains to prepare for the bitter coldness of Utah. Safety first ... they do have a baby bump to take care of. [Source]

Here are a couple pics of Eliza Dushku with her brother already enjoying the sights and sounds of the Sundance Film Festival. Apparently last night a blackout threatened to derail the festivities, plunging countless celebs into pitch darkness as they tried to party the night away:

This from TMZ last night: Tons of huge stars are partying at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah right now -- but they're all gettin' down in the dark! We just got word that a major power outage in the city has turned the lights out on Main Street. Spies inside several parties including the Hard Rock Hotel Flaunt Magazine party tell us stars like Brittany Murphy, Paris Hilton and Mos Def are standing around in total darkness while the city figures out how to get the lights back on.

Woo ... sounds like fun. It's so unfortunate that Sundance always takes place in January when it's freakin' cold as hell. I never have any interest in partaking of the festival's festivities for that exact reason. I do have some friends who are there, tho, and have promised to provide me with some info that might be interesting. Thus far, all I've heard is that Paris Hilton was spied making out with Simon Rex (typical) and Kevin Sorbo is kinda creep-creep. Yeah, it doesn't sound like I'm missing much. A Rick Solomon-less Pamela Anderson is spending her weekend at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida where, tragically, Anna Nicole Smith passed away last year. The latest on her rollercoaster marriage to Rick is that, despite the fact the pair have been seen together recently, the divorce is deffo back on ... and she claims that she is not pregs with his baby:

Photo credit: Wireimage & Splash News

TMZ has learned Pam Anderson has changed her mind yet again -- the divorce is back on. Pam filed for divorce against Rick Salomon on December 14, a little more than two months after they married. Days later she called off the divorce. This past weekend, TMZ got a photo of the two lookin' like a couple again. But now we've learned Pam wants out. A little unfinished business -- as TMZ reported, Pam was carrying Rick's baby, at least as of earlier this week.

Yes, Pam's baby sitch is a bit cloudy ... either she was never pregs or she is no longer pregs ... it's difficult to determine which is the case since all the language being used in the reporting of her situation doesn't seem to give a definitive picture:

TMZ has learned the divorce between Pam Anderson and Rick Salomon has just gotten less complicated, because Anderson is no longer pregnant. As we first reported, a then-pregnant Anderson filed for divorce last month, but briefly reconciled with Salomon. But then it was on again. And then there were photos last weekend that made it look like a second reconciliation was in the offing. Now we've learned the divorce is definitely on, and there will be no child support issues to complicate matters.

Whatever is going on here, the lesson to be learned from all of this is that it does not behoove one to enter into a matrimonial contract with Pamela Anderson. The whole thing sounds like more trouble than its worth. [Source]

Yesterday we saw pics of a disheveled and overwrought Amy Winehouse at the courthouse where the case against her hubby, Blake Civil-Fielder, got underway and today we get pics of Amy's after-court trip to dine and unwind at her fave restaurant -- McDonald's:

There must be something about a dinner that is made up of two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame bun to chase away the My hubby may be going to prison for perverting justice blues. [Source]

Well now ... Haylie Duff seems to move really fast ... Nick Zano, her former flame, hasn't been broken up with his last significant girlfriend, Kristin Cavallari, for more than a few weeks and Haylie's already gone in for the kill. Is love back in the works for HayNo?

Nick's a hottie so I can understand her zeal to get back into his pants. I guess we'll see if anything comes of this new ... interaction. [Source]

And finally ... here is this week's batch of photos sent in by Pink is the new Blog readers -- my girl Tiffany in Anaheim, CA sends in a cute pic of her two favorite men rootin' for the Dallas Cowboys -- Jacci sends in an adorable photo of her little one, Scarlett Olivia, posing for her 6 month old pictures -- Natalie sends in a pic of her beautiful red-headed little Fairy princess daughter -- Asia sends in a picture of her sister, Aleesa, who recently graduated from Sacramento State University -- Inee sends in a pic from her 80s-themed roller-skating party for her 27th birthday with all of her friends -- Susan sends in a pic of her friend Melanie getting in some fun bargain shopping at the at the
Poconos Flea Market:

Thank you all so much for the great pics ... this is a great batch ... the babies are so freaking cute :) As always, I really appreciate that some of you take the time to send in your fun pictures each week -- I <3 them all!! xoxoxo

Les News:
So ... me and 9 of my friends (Mike, Darion, David, Will, Michael, Justin, Jim, Paul and Corey) all met up for the 8pm showing of Cloverfield at the Sherman Oaks ArcLight Theater (where, again I feel the need to mention that, I was very fortunate enough to get to meet Trent Reznor). Of the 10 of us, only one person wasn't feelin' the movie like the rest of us. I have been getting some emails from quite a few Pink readers with their feelings about the movie and overwhelming the response is that folks like the movie. There are those, tho, that really didn't like the movie ... which is totally fair. I get that it's not for everyone. I just really want movies like this to succeed so that other filmmakers might get inspired to think outside of the box and come at us with new and inventive ways of movie making. Besides, I really do think this movie rocks balls. 1-18-08.com, the first website associated with Cloverfield, was updated with some new pictures ... like these which seem to show some more effect caused by "the monster":

Having seen the movie twice now, I just found out that I have to go and see it one more time because I missed seeing something the first two times. If you've yet to see and plan on seeing it, pay close attention to the background of last scene of the movie ... there is, apparently, a clue as to where the "monster" comes from. Also, THIS site answers a lot of unanswered questions about the movie (including what the movie title means) and talks about a possible sequel.

After the movie, the bunch of us minus David and Will met up with Jordan and his beautiful and charming mom at the Hollywood Hills home he is house-sitting for a little impromptu soiree:

And then we hauled our goodies into WeHo for some dancing at Eleven. The night was really a great one for me ... one that I will remember for a very long time.

I hope you're weekend is going well ... I am out.

Trent2

Now that I've sufficiently calmed down enough to actually type, I can finally write up a short blog post about how amazing last night was for me. A bunch of us got together to see Cloverfield at the ArcLight theater in Sherman Oaks, CA for the 8pm showing ... which was really fun in and of itself ... but as I was corralling our group together in the lobby to distribute tickets, make introductions, etc. I look over and not 10 feet away from me I saw Trent Reznor, lead singer of my fave band ever Nine Inch Nails, standing with a few of his friends. Now, anyone who even remotely knows me personally knows that I have been a huge NIN fan since their first album Pretty Hate Machine was released in the late 80s. Seeing Trent Reznor in person like that, up close and personal in a movie theater lobby like that just knocked the wind out of me and I kinda freaked out. I panicked and decided not to talk to him because I was afraid of embarrassing myself. Fortunately, Trent and his friends were at the theater to see the same showing of Cloverfield and was sitting four rows in front of me. Darion, who I will love for all time for this, convinced me that if I didn't speak to him that night I'd regret it forEVER ... so we decided to wait until the movie was over and then approach him in the lobby (basically D and I bolted from the theater as soon as the credits began and laid in wait in the lobby to make our move as he left the theater) ... which was the perfect way to go because not only did I get to talk with him for a minute but I also go to take a photo with him:

In my head I kept thinking, Don't sound like a crazy stalker ... so I didn't mention that I've seen NIN over 25 times (most recently in Barcelona with David last year), I didn't mention that my first tattoo was the NIN logo (and that I have two NIN related tattoos overall), I didn't mention that two of my prized possessions are pieces of keyboards that he destroyed in concert that I was lucky enough to procure after he threw the pieces into the audience ... yeah, there is a lot that I didn't spew out to him for fear that he'd run away from me as quickly as he could. Instead, at Darion's prompting, I introduced myself as a "big fan" and told him that it was an honor to meet him. HE asked ME if I had just seen Cloverfield and we talked about how we liked it for a bit ... then I got to take the pic, shake his hand and let him go. He was so nice, so friendly and was just really cool to finally get to meet. Despite the blasé look on his face in the pic (I've seen other fan photos with him and he always looks this uninterested) he was a very smiling and friendly guy. I find it strangely coincidental that we were both wearing almost the same clothes -- similar pants and jakcets -- what are the chances that we would be at the same theater to see the same movie at the same time? Hahahaha. I was so freaked out ... I'm not sure I can convey what it meant to me to get to meet Trent Reznor. His music played a huge role in my life (still does) and really defined a very significant time in my life.

I was pretty elated and shocked for most of the night and there was no way I wasn't gonna share my encounter with the world.

UPDATE: Trent Reznor updated the latest post at NIN.com regarding Cloverfield. Here is the full text of his post:

19 January 2008: Cloverfield!
What are you reading this for? Go see it!!!
