Here We Go Again

For the second time in the same month, Britney Spears was admitted into a psychiatric facility in order to undergo professional evaluation to help determine the cause of her erratic mental state. But, unlike the last time police and EMT personnel showed up at her home to cart her away to the hospital, last night's scenario played out much more calmly and much more reasonably ... which looks like a very good sign to me. It would seem that Britney understands that she is in need of help and seems more willing to let medical professionals determine what exactly the problem is so that treatment can get underway -- at least, I hope this is what is going on. I credit last night's calm medical intervention on the fact that Britney's family is involved this time ... but there is new tension between Team Spears and Sam Lufti, Brit's BFF/manager, over what decisions need to be made on her behalf. Here are a few pics of Britney's day yesterday ... from the early morning gas station run in her pink wig to her lunch date with Adnan Ghalib later in the day ... there are reports that Britney has been awake since Saturday ... which kinda really puts everything into perspective:

Photo credit: X17 & Splash News

There were initial reports that Britney tried to commit suicide but nothing could've been further from the truth. It turns out that the psychiatrist that Brit Brit just recently started seeing was the one who suggested she commit herself to the hospital because her erratic behavior was posing a threat to her well-being ... which is why the Code 5150 was used again. Here are a few pics from the much calmer scene at Britney's home last night as she was taken away to the UCLA Medical Center:

Britney Spears has been taken to a Los Angeles hospital by ambulance to be put under psychiatric care for the second time this month. She was taken to UCLA Medical Centre around 1:30am after a carefully staged intervention planned by her mother Lynne Spears, with the police calling ahead to waiting medics with the message: "The package is on its way." Britney is on a three-day psychiatric hold, but sources say there is a "good possibility" that it will be extended to 14 days. A source told Mail Online that Britney's trip to UCLA was the result of a meticulously planned "snatch and grab" intervention led by her mother Lynne. "She had no idea it was coming," said the source, adding: "Lynne planned it down to the last detail." When Britney heard she was being taken into care, she said: "Is something wrong?" and insiders say she was too "out of it" to resist. But she then reportedly made herself a hot chocolate while she waited for the paramedics to arrive. She was strapped to a hospital trolley before being carried into the ambulance. Co-heading Lynne's team of helpers, says the source, was Britney's father Jamie, along with representatives from Britney's legal team and record label Jive Records. Contrary to reports, Mail Online understands that Lynne was fully aware the psychiatrist was planning to force Britney into treatment. "She did everything in her power to get Britney away from her boyfriend Adnan, but most of all from Sam Lutfi," said the source. Lutfi, Britney's "manager", has been a controversial figure in the star's life over the past year, and her friends and family have regularly expressed concerned over his influence. Adds the source: "He has been controlling her at every turn and they needed to put a stop to it. Lynne's opinion is that it has gone on long enough. She needs to get Lutfi out of Britney's life - and by whatever means necessary." However, according to one report out of the US, Lutfi is still attempting to control the decisions regarding her medical care. And the doctors at the UCLA are including him in the decision-making process, much to the disgust of Lynne and Britney's father Jamie. Lutfi is also still making statements to the media on Britney's behalf. "She went willingly. It was like something in her heart was telling her she should go. She knew something was wrong", he told People magazine. Britney was sectioned under code "5150" - the emergency services' way of indicating she is considered a danger to herself and others ... It appears the operation had been in planning for a number of days and vehicles were blocked from following the same route as the emergency services convoy, which included 30 police cars and several police motorbikes ... The hospitalisation came after Britney's psychiatrist visited the star and recommended she be temporarily committed on the basis she poses a danger to herself and to others, according to reports. Britney, who is being treated for bipolar disorder, had not slept in days was seen driving blindly around in a new Mercedes saloon two days before the intervention ... Her psychiatrist is said to have ruled she should be treated under a 5150 hold, the same order that led to her being forcibly taken from her house on a stretcher earlier this month after a three-hour stand-off with police during which she locked herself in the bathroom with one of her sons. Her visitation rights were stripped following the incident.

Damn ... this is a lot of information to take in ... on the one hand, I'm not surprised that something like this went down. I had a feeling that Lynne Spears's arrival in SoCal meant that something was up. I'm just really surprised that it all went down so calmly, especially after they way things blew up earlier this month the first time she was carted away. It appears that Britney's sleep deprivation worked in favor of this calm intervention ... after a good night's/day's rest who knows what the sitch will be like. Will Britney stay committed to her mental health ... or will she bust free again and revert to her erratic behavior? Only time will tell :( [Source]

It is very encouraging that Britney's family have come to town in a show of support for her:

It seems very obvs to me that they need to be the ones making medical decisions for her ... not Sam Lufti and not Adnan Ghalib. Clearly, Britney does not want them to make these sorts of decisions for her -- which is proof positive that they are deffo the ones who need to be in control:

Sources tell [TMZ] after Britney's stay at Cedars earlier this month, she had her lawyers draft paperwork making it clear she did not want her parents involved in making medical decisions on her behalf. We're told her dad had gone ballistic back then, screaming and swearing at Lutfi -- even pushing him -- in front of Britney. As to what paperwork was signed, the cleanest thing would be if Britney signed a durable power of attorney, giving someone power to make medical decisions on her behalf in an emergency. We are told no such document was signed, but somehow Britney made it clear she wanted Lutfi to make those decisions.

TMZ has learned Britney's parents have won round one in the tug of war with Sam Lutfi. We're told the doctors at UCLA are now "fully cooperating" with the parents in the treatment of Britney Spears, however, the war probably is not over until a judge signs an order as to who has control. By the way, the men in white coats are giving props to LAPD's "SMART Unit" which specializes in mental health cases for coordinating the events that went down last night and early this morning. UPDATE: Sam Lutfi left the hospital before 4:00 AM. Papa Jamie just left.

I can't help thinking how different, how much healthier her life might be right now if she were in the care of her family members rather than in the care of her shady yes men over the past few months. It is my sincere wish that Britney gets the help that she's been in desperate need of for so long ... I'm pretty sure the battle between Team Spears and Sam Lufti is far from over ... but I'm rooting for her family. It is my staunch belief that they are the only ones involved in all of this mess that have Britney's best interest at heart. [Source]

Okay ... moving on ... Matthew McConaughey with his beautiful babymama Camilla Alves were joined by co-stars Kate Hudson & Donald Sutherland and Julie Benz (among others) at the Hollywood premiere of his new movie Fool's Gold which was held at Grauman's Chinese Theater in LA last night. Here are a few pics from the red carpet:

Well, Lawdy, Lawdy -- doesn't Matthew clean up real nice when he puts on a shirt, shaves his face and combs and/or washes his hair. While I like seeing him out and about all shirtless and sweaty wet, I think he looks just as nice while wearing clothing. Fool's Gold looks like a completely mindless movie, one that I doubt I'll be hauling my cookies to the cineplex for ... but I'm sure may seem cute to some folks. I like Kate Hudson but I don't know that I like her enough to take a chance on this flick. [Source]

Les Spices are back on US soil and yesterday, Vicki B. took the opportunity to ditch her lady friends and show up at a Saks Fifth Avenue department store to do a promo appearance in support of her dVb Denim collection. Here are a few pics of Vicki B.'s appearance yesterday ... including a pic sent in by Pink reader Darren, who was lucky enough to press the flesh plastic with the Posh one herself:

I'm completely convinced that this being is completely devoid of any smiling facial muscles at all. I dunno how she manages to look human in some TV specials (like her Coming to America special on NBC last summer where she actually looked ... personable ... I suspect it's the result of TV studio trickery) but she is clearly incapable of even giving away a hint of emotion for a vast majority of the time she spends in the public eye. That being said, I'm INSANELY jealous that Darren got to meet the robotic one herself. [Source, thanks Ross]

At the Saks event yesterday, Vicki B. inadvertently showed off a new tattoo that she had inscribed on her wrist ... behold:

Unfortch, it's unclear what the new ink says. The script lettering is too blurry in this pic to accurately decipher. It looks like it reads, De J-something or De G-something. Hmmm. I wonder if she and hubby David Beckham got their new ink together at the same time. [Source]

And speaking of ... it turns out that Becks's new tattoo is made up of more than just those stars we saw yesterday ... Becks had a pin-up style portrait of Miss Vicki B. herself tattooed on the back of his arm. Here is a bit of a look at his new tattoo and the photo of Posh that the tattoo was based on:

David is wearing his love for wife Posh – literally – on his forearm. The football star unveiled his latest tattoo - a six-inch replica of wife Victoria inked on his arm - as he enjoyed a kickabout on a sun-kissed beach in Brazil. The footballer unveiled the intricate new design of a semi-nude Victoria reclining, wrapped around an existing Hindi inscription of wife Victoria's name. A source told The Mirror: "They are both thrilled with the result. It has been beautifully done. Victoria is flattered."

Oh, Becks. You so crazy. You're lucky you're hot, otherwise I might have to end our pretend lurve affair over this latest bit of over-the-top devotion to your wife. [Source]

And since we're on the subject of Becks's hawtness ... here are a few more pics of the lad shirtless on a Brazilian beach earlier this week:

MMM ... you know ... I can forgive a semi-nekkid Becks pretty much anything. Le sigh. [Source]

In NYC, a couple of Heroes, a couple of Gossip Girls and a host of others made their way out to the Eyebeam Atelier for an Old Navy event which was dubbed Old Navy, New Year. Here are a few pics from that event's red carpet:

You know, I'd be shocked if any of these celebs actually wore Old Navy clothing because they really like the clothes rather than being paid to like and wear the clothes ... but, I digress. I love me some Hayden but she kinda needs to tone down the red lipstick ... I think it makes her look too tarty. Kristen Bell and Blake Lively both looked very nice but no one was prettier than Chace Crawford. That boy could give Zac Efron a run for his money for the title of prettiest actor in Hollywood. The edge might go to Zac, who clearly spends more time plucking his eyebrows than Chace does ... but, with enough tweezing, Chace could get back in the game. [Source]

One last bit if Haydenness ... here is a cute pic of Miss Panettiere passing the time with a good book while she awaits the arrival of her train in Union Station in Washington DC bound for NYC this week:

Hee hee ... I think this pic is so cute. Love it. [Source]

Look out world ... Paula Abdul, pop star extraordinaire, is back on the scene ... er, well at least she's trying to make it back on the scene. Here are a few screencaps of behind the scenes footage of Paula shooting the music video for her new song Dance Like There's No Tomorrow:

Can I just say that I love that Paula still has love for those semi-tacky boustier-type dresses that she wore back in the late 80s/early 90s? I wonder if she dug this little number out of her closet ... or if some horrible designer actually still makes these things. EEP. In any regard, her new song is growing on me ... I don't love it but it gets better every time I hear it. They played it at the Diesel Store in the Beverly Center yesterday and those punky little hipster fashionistas were really rockin' out to that song. I love that we live in a world that would give a Paula Abdul another crack at music stardom! [Source]

In happy news, Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays the amazing Chloe O'Brian on my fave network TV drama 24, has announced that she is knocked up with child. Here are a couple of recent pics of Mary Lynn from the Sundance Film Festival last week and a couple pics of Mary Lynn with her hot babydaddy Matthew Rolph (at least, I think it's him) at an event last Fall:

Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays computer whiz Chloe O'Brian on Fox's 24, is pregnant, she tells PEOPLE. Rajskub, 36, and her live-in boyfriend Matthew Rolph, 27, a personal trainer, are expecting their first child at the end of the summer. "With the strike going on, I had to keep busy!" Rajskub jokes. "We are thrilled and couldn't be more excited." Rajskub recently attended the Sundance Film Festival promoting Sunshine Cleaning, in which she costars opposite Amy Adams and Emily Blunt. On Friday, Rajskub will make an appearance walking in the Red Dress Fashion Show to benefit The Heart Truth in New York.

Woot! Woot! Woot! Woot! This news is so great, it's deffo worth 4 Woot!s. I have to say, I think that Mary Lynn Rajskub is one of my fave people on Earth ... I know that she will be an amazing mother and I couldn't be happier for her. She sounds really happy and I wish her and her babydaddy all the happiness in the world. Much congrats!! xoxo [Source]

Yesterday we got to see Kylie Minogue on the cover of the new issue of Woman & Home magazine ... today, we get to see some of the pics that accompany the coverstory:

Apparently, Kylie used this appearance in Woman & Home to talk about her new line of bed linens, which will go on sale in the UK next month. Kylie lingerie -- I get. Kylie perfume -- I get. Kylie duvets and bed spreads -- I do not get ... but I'm sure they'll sell like hotcakes. If Martha Stewart can move that stuff, I'm sure Kylie can, too. [Source]

Pink reader Kim gave me the heads up that Marc Jacobs has splashed quite a few nekkid celebs on his new charity t-shirts ... here are pics of the Heidi Klum, Naomi Campbell and Joss Stone versions ... along with a random hot nekkid model guy:

The shirt designs can be found at MarcJacobs.com but can only be purchased in Marc Jacobs boutiques. Too bad Becks didn't pose in the nude ... I'd buy their whole stock. [Source, thanks Kim]

And finally, Pink reader Rachel has sniffed out the My Space profile for Jeremy Green ... the guy who is supposedly Lindsay Lohan's new boyfriend:

Hahahahahaha ... yeah, I somehow doubt that Linds would get seriously involved with a tool like THIS. The guy hangs with Papa Joe Simpson ... LOL!!! [Source, thanks Rachel]

Les News:
Last night I surprised David with tickets to see Ryan Adams & the Cardinals play a live show at Royce Hall on the campus of UCLA ... which is significant because Ryan sings the song Firecracker, which is one of our songs together:

After a quick shopping trip and a nice dinner (where I got to meet Pink reader Kim), we made our way to UCLA for the show. Ryan, as always, was erratic on stage but gave a stunning performance. The man is a musical genius ... I am always in awe of his insane talent. He and the band played an hour and half set, took a 20 min. break and then came out to play another whole set -- it was brills! We didn't get to hear Firecracker (which was a bummer, watch him perform it tonight) but we did get to hear the band play an impromptu death speed metal song by the band Sarcophogus (no lie, it was awesome). The show was just awesome ... we had a great time.

I have to give a shout-out to Pink readers Jill and Megan who I got to meet at the show ... it was very nice meeting you both.

Tonight, David and I are going to the Hollywood premiere of the Lion's Gate movie The Eye which stars Jessica Alba. I am very excited to see this film ... and I hope to get a nice close-up look at Jessica's burgeoning babybump. I'll be posting pictures directly from my Nikon Coolpix s51C camera to www.pinkismypicturetown.com so if you haven't registered then you might want to do so before tonight in order to see the pics as soon as they get posted to the album.

And so ... that is all ... I'm out.
