Giving Up The Ghost

Radio station KIIS FM here in LA debuted a new Heidi Montag track titled Dramatic that was described as an "exclusive Britney Spears and Heidi Montag song" which "features both starlets" ... so natch, I assumed it was some sort of mash-up or maybe even a bona fide duet ... but after listening to the track, I do not believe that either is actually the case:

Click HERE to hear the song for yourself. It sounds to me like Heidi got a-hold of an old, unreleased Britney Spears demo track and just laid her own vocals over Britney's to create the duet effect. To be honest, it's a genius move. What better way to get the song promoted than to use a track with Britney's vocals on it. Personally, I'm not really digging the song that much ... it's too breathy for my taste but I would deffo give Heidi an A for effort. There isn't a lot of information about this song out there right now so it's unclear if the song will make it on Heidi's debut album. We also don't know what Brit Brit thinks about this ... I suspect that she might not take too kindly to the use of one of her unreleased songs in this manner. [Source]

In other Heidi news, it is being reported today that Heidi's step brother Eric O'Hara died in a freak work accident late last week ... she talks to US Weekly about the loss:

On Thursday Heidi Montag received the tragic news that her step brother died. Eric O'Hara, 24, was working on the roof of the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel in Steamboat, Colorado when a piece of ice broke loose and he fell off the building. O'Hara had been home just a month since serving as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division in Iraq and Afghanistan over three years. "I just loved him more than anything," Montag told Usmagazine.com. "He couldn't wait to meet Spencer. He was very much a brother to me," she said. "He called me his sister, not his step-sister. He was always like, 'I love you! I have to meet Spencer and make sure he's cool to you!' Just like a brother ... He was just back [from Iraq] and was ready to go back to school," Montag explained. "He went up to Steamboat for the weekend where my dad lives. He was just so patriotic," Montag told Us. "He just really wanted to go there and help and do all that he could for his country. He felt like it was his duty."

Irregardless of what your personal feelings about Heidi Montag may be, I think it's safe to assume that we can all sympathize with her as she struggles with the pain of this loss. I have been very fortunate not to lose someone so close to me ... it is my sincere hope that Heidi and her family can find the strength to handle this loss. May Eric O'Hara rest in peace.

Getting back to the Britney-related biz for a hot minute ... here are a couple of photos of the Babydaddy of the Year Kevin Federline enjoying himself a quick game of golf over the weekend:

Yes, yes ... it is a bit unsightly seeing K-Fed in this way (as a bloated suburban golfer) but at least this new sports hobby is keeping him out of the recording studio. Anything that will hinder the creation of Popozão pt. 2 is aces in my book! [Source]

Amy Adams, Lee Pace (from Pushing Daisies), Rufus Wainwright (with boyfriend Jorn Weisbrodt) and Morgan Freeman were among the celebs in attendance at the NYC premiere of the new movie Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day which was held at the Tribeca Grand last night ... here are a few pics from the red carpet:

I really love Amy Adams and I am a big fan of her movies so I am really looking forward to seeing this film. Miss Pettigrew strikes me as really cute movie that could turn into a big success. Frances McDormand stars as the ex-governess turned fake social director in the film and anyone familiar with her work knows that she is an amazing actress. I'm also interested in seeing how Lee Pace comes across on the big screen ... he is really great in Pushing Daisies. AND, I love that Rufus came out to the premiere with his boyfriend Jorn as his date. We don't get to see the two of them together very often (in fact, I am not sure I've actually seen what he looks like before today) so it's great to finally put a face to the mythic man who managed to tame the wild, boycrazy Rufus Wainwright. In any regard, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day opens in limited release this Friday. [Source]

Paris Fashion Week got well underway this weekend as a few of the really big designers held their fashion shows this weekend to get the festivities started. Here are pics of Kanye West, Dita Von Teese, Zhang Ziyi and Milla Jovovich at the Louis Vuitton Fall-Winter 2008-2009 Ready-to-Wear collection show from this weekend:

And here are a few pics of the man of the hour, LV designer Marc Jacobs, strutting down the catwalk and then posing with Maggie Gyllenhaal and Sofia Coppola:

As much as fashion shows aren't really my thing (except for the rare occasion when I receive an invite to attend the Project Runway Finale Fashion Show), I can appreciate that the LV show is usually a big draw for celebs. After all, who doesn't love a little Louis Vuitton in their life? Certainly, not I. Some people are not really fans of the overused LV logo splayed all over their clothes and accessories ... I am not one of those folks. I think there is something to be said for the wise use of gaudily chic, majorly expensive designer wear ... just ask Kanye West. [Source]

While various celebs were hob-nobbing at Paris Fashion Week shows for Louis Vuitton, John Galliano, Chanel, Stella McCartney, Yves Saint Laurent and others this weekend, our favorite robot -- Vicki B. -- was doing a bit of hob-nobbing and shopping of her own ... at Target! Yes, folks, Target:

The world is accustomed to the sight of Victoria Beckham, usually groomed to within an inch of her life, sashaying in and out of exclusive designer boutiques. So when she emerged yesterday for a low-budget shopping spree in LA looking more like an average soccer mom than international superstar, she left onlookers dead in their tracks. The former Spice Girl swapped her trademark tightly nipped-in pencil skirts and cleavage hugging tops for a pair of flared jeans and – gasp – a sloppy grey T-shirt. There was no designer handbag in sight as the mother of three trawled through discount store Target with son Romeo – she instead totted a red plastic basket as she made her way through the aisles.

Surely the end of the world is nigh. Isn't one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse a robot headed for a bargain shopping center? We're doomed! Doomed, I say! [Source]

Hmmm ... I'm not exactly sure what is going on with VB these days ... she spent the weekend doing a lot of things that were very much out of character for her. Not only was she caught shopping at Target (while wearing jeans and a t-shirt, no less) but she also spent a late night on the town sans hubby David Beckham (who is currently in China with the LA Galaxy) wearing an outfit that she's already been photographed in! The Horror!!

[On Saturday night, Victoria] was spotted enjoying a late night out with friends in Hollywood, leaving a restaurant looking worse for wear at 2am. And in another sign the self-appointed fashionista is off her game, she was wearing exactly the same grey (her favourite colour, it appears) stomach-baring outfit she wore last month ... Meanwhile, David Beckham was swarmed by camera-carrying crowds as he arrived in China yesterday for a game against the Shanghai-Hong Kong United team on Wednesday. After the team's swing through Asia, its regular Major League Soccer season will start at the end of March. The Asian tour started in Korea, where Beckham was the only one of five Galaxy players to convert in a penalty shootout as the MLS outfit lost to South Korea's FC Seoul 2-1 in an exhibition game Saturday.

It would seem that, quite literally, Victoria Beckham must have a screw loose. We've all seen her malfunction before (an errant smile here, a lopsided boob there) but this behavior is extremely troubling. It sounds like she is desperate need of a complete overhaul. Someone get this robot to a mechanic STAT otherwise we may lose our Posh Spice forever. [Source]

On Saturday we got to see pics of buddy-ol-pals Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal hamming it up for the photogs as they walked together head (hers) in choke-hold (his) here in SoCal this week. It appears that the couple has flown the coup and made their way to NYC where they were not spotted walking head in choke-hold or even hand in hand ... the were spotted with several feet between them. Hmmm ... could there be trubs afoot in GyllenSpoonland?

Yeah, I don't get it ... the secret's already out, they're supposedly "together", so why the need to pretend? Maybe things aren't as happy for these two as we'r led to believe. Could it be that the magical effects of romance brought on by movie studio match-making in order to promote their new movie is finally beginning to wear off? Sad. [Source]

In related news, Reese's ex-hubby Ryan Phillippe spend the weekend snowboarding in Big Bear, CA with his kids Ava and Deacon ... here are a few adorable pics:

Aww, looks like fun. I am so sure that Ryan is a fun dad ... and you just know that he prolly lets his kids get away with murder since he doesn't get to spend all his time with them since he shares custody with Reese. [Source]

Getting back to happy couples news for a sec, here are a couple of new pics of besties JC Chasez and Chace Crawford trying to sneak their way past the paps as they tried to make their way thru security at LAX Airport this week:

Interesting ... these two have been spending an awful lot of time together lately ... they really have become the happy couple du jour -- not that there's anything wrong with that. Hmm ... I wonder what is really going on with these two? [Source]

While I wouldn't necessarily call these two a couple (altho, I think I much prefer Paris with this monk rather than with Benji Madden), Paris Hilton and her new Buddhist monk friend do appear to be getting friendlier by the moment ... yesterday we saw pics of Paris chillin' with her monk at Urth Cafe and the Bodhi Tree bookstore and today we see the two of them heading off for a little jaunt together in her car heading off to who knows where:

I sincerely doubt that the path to enlightenment goes thru the latest Hollywood hot spot of the moment. If this monk ever had a chance at eternal salvation, I'd wager that his chances are pretty much shot by now. [Source]

In busted celeb news, hip hop rapper Game has surrendered himself into the custody of the Los Angeles Correctional Facility known as the Twin Towers to begin serving a 60-day jail sentence for weapons possession ... and here is his latest mug shot:

The Game checked into the Twin Towers Correctional Facility tonight to begin serving his sentence for pleading no contest to a felony charge of possession of a firearm in a school zone. Last month, Game (real name Jayceon Taylor) was sentenced to 60 days in jail, 150 hours of community service and three years probation. In February 2007, Taylor allegedly got into a heated altercation with a player from an opposing team during a pick-up basketball game at a school in South L.A. After allegedly punching the other player, prosecutors said Taylor then pulled a gun from his Escalade and threatened to shoot the victim.

Yikes! It sounds like Game really takes his basketball very seriously. Despite the fact that he will most likely not have to serve out his entire 60-day jail sentence, I would hope that Game realizes that it's not really worth brandishing a weapon at a sporting opponent just because you get called for double-dribbling. He always struck me as a level-headed, kind rapper. [Source]

Here are a bunch of really cute pics of Lance Bass with his steady boyfriend Ben Thigpen lookin' all amorous together in a few candid photos that have been uploaded to Facebook:

I just love that La-Ben are still happily together. Not only do they make a hawt couple but they really do look happy with one another ... despite the fact that Ben feels the need to look all serious in some of their pics. The cheek peck pics are my faves :) [Source]

Here is a great pic of Gwyenth Paltrow, Liv Tyler and Maggie Gyllenhaal from this week's edition of USA Weekend:

As you've prolly ascertained, these ladies are grouped together for this photo because they will be playing superhero girlfriends in their new movies. Gwyneth will be playing Pepper Potts (the love interest in Iron Man), Liv will be playing Betty Ross (the love interest in The Incredible Hulk) and Maggie will be playing Rachel Dawes (the love interest in Batman: The Dark Knight ... taking over for Katie Holmes who played the character in Batman Begins). It's a great pic ... they all look really great ... even Maggie's trademark mouth pout isn't all that bad. Behind every great superhero there is a woman to lurve them ... I guess it kinda helps if they're hot. [Source]

And finally, Trent Reznor announced on Saturday that new Nine Inch Nails music would be available for FREE DOWNLOAD starting, well, the moment that the announcement went live. Ghosts I-IV is a sprawling 36-track instrumental collection that can be downloaded for free (Ghosts I) or can be purchased in various other formats ranging from $5 to $300:

This from the official Ghosts I-IV website: Nine Inch Nails presents Ghosts I - IV, a brand new 36 track instrumental collection available right now. Almost two hours of new music composed and recorded over an intense ten week period last fall, Ghosts I - IV sprawls Nine Inch Nails across a variety of new terrain.

Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point. This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams. I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."

Weeeeeeeeeee! I marked my calendar that NIN.com would have a huge announcement on March 1 but our trip to San Diego distracted me from paying attention. Much love goes out to the Pink readers Keri, Daryl and Anu for giving me the head's up about the new music. Click HERE to access a flash player that lets you preview some of the new music available. I spent part of my morning listening to tracks from this flash player and I love it all. I already placed my order for the mega expensive deluxe version of the collection (which won't be delivered until May) but I have not been able to download the music to my computer yet because the server strain on the site keeps causing errors. Normally, I'd be upset about something like this but I'm happy that there is so much demand for this new NIN music that I can't be too angry. I suspect that Trent will be gauging the success of this enterprise to see how well this sort of music distribution works ... I hope it does well (ie. that folks pay at least $5 for the new music) so that he will continue to release music in this way.

Les News:
David and I spent the early part of yesterday in San Diego just enjoying the beautiful weather. We ate an amazing breakfast at this cute place called the Naked Cafe ... I dined on coconut french toast and, let me tell you, it was amazing :) The drive back to LA was so easy ... we got home in about 2 hours exactly.

Last night, we met up with our friend Gillian and her fiancée Tim for dinner at Little Dom's in Los Feliz. During dinner, Tim noticed that Christina Ricci came in with some friends and spent a lot of time waiting for a table ... we were told by our server that she likes to sit at our table and we weren't nearly close to being done (after all, we were only on our first bottle of wine) so, sadly, Christina had to eat elsewhere. Sad face. Dinner with Gillian and Tim was great ... they are getting married in a little over a month so it was great to hear how everything is going with them. I just love the both so much ... we had fun.

Tonight, David flies back to NYC but, thankfully, he is taking the red eye flight home ... which means we have all day to spend together :)

I hope your Monday is going well ... I am out.
