Pink reader Sarah sends in a batch of really great pics of Johnny Depp on the set of his new movie Public Enemies which is currently filming in her small town of Columbus, Wisconsin. Here are a few pics of Johnny in full costume as John Dillinger shooting a scene for the movie complete with old skool machine gun and a bag of money:
Sarah writes: Because shooting started in my small hometown of Columbus (population: 4,500), I was able to go and watch them shoot. The pictures that are attached my brother, Jamie, actually took at the bank that my mom works at. Apparently, Johnny actually went into the bank and took some pics & signed some autographs right before my brother & mom got there. Boo. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Channing Tatum (damn!) or Giovanni Ribisi; we're not even sure if they were there or not. But none the less, my brother got these pics and I thought I would share them with you.
I love these pics! Even tho I'm not a fan of period pieces, I'm loving what I've been seeing of this film so far. I guess I'm kinda bummed that the money bag doesn't have a $ on it but still, the pics are very cool. Much, much love goes out to Sarah and her bro Jamie for sharing these amazing pics. I imagine it is very exciting to have a big Hollywood film set come to town (OR it's a huge pain in the ass ... more probably, it's a mixture of both depending on who you ask) and I really appreciate hearing how filming like this takes place from the locals themselves. [thanks Sarah and Jamie]
Not since the days that the Jheri-churled AC Slater roamed the halls of Bayside High School on Saturday mornings thruout the '90s has Mario Lopez been riding such a career high. Since his days on Saved by the Bell, Mario has played Greg Louganis in a biopic movie of the week about the Olympic diver, he played Dr. Christian Ramírez on The Bold and the Beautiful (where he basically brought Felicia Forrester back from the dead) and played Dr. Mike Hamoui on Nip/Tuck (in an awesome butt-bearing role, I may add). Currently, Mario plays host on the MTV dance competition show Randy Jackson presents America's Best Dance Crew -- and SOON will be releasing his very own fitness book called Mario Lopez's Knockout Fitness. Things are going very well for Mario Lopez these days:
I am all for any career move that features a semi-to-mostly nekkid Lopez so I may have to check out this book when it gets released. Of course, I have *zero* interest in the fitness part of the book but I understand the hardcover version of this book comes with full color glossy images. See kids, this is why it's fun to read. Last night was another of those great nights that make me feel so lucky to get to do the things I get to do. Fortunately for me my NYC trip to visit David for Easter corresponded perfectly with last night's premiere party for The Hills so I was able to attend the festivities in person. David isn't a big Hills fan so I asked Monique if she'd be interested in going with me and she was totally up for it. We arrived at the appointed time and chilled outside for a bit before the crazy hoopla got underway. As I mentioned before, Mariah Carey's performances were the first things filmed last night so that the rest of the night could be all about The Hills. Here are a few of my pics from last night's fun ... I got to chat for a bit with LC, Audrina & Whitney and, much to my amazement, got to meet and take a couple pics with Mariah Carey before the night was over:
Mimi had to do her performance of Touch My Body twice because someone at MTV asked her to, she didn't seem too pleased to have to do the performance again but, after she apologized to us lambs for the delay, churned out 3 amazing performances. The rest of the show was pretty much focused on the premiere episode, it was very cool hearing the audience reaction whenever drama stuff went down on the show ... The Hills is best watched with a group of about 200 people :) Jason Preston was seated at the table next to ours (Mo and I were seated with Tim Stack, my boy at Entertainment Weekly) and came over to say hello and compliment me on my outfit! He looked good so I complimented him -- it was a cute lovefest. After everything was done, Monique and I were ready to bolt when we ran right into Mariah Carey and her people standing by the entrance watching her performance on the big screen. We quietly waited for her to be finished and fellow blogger Micah Jesse asked her for a photo ... she obliged and then took pics with quite a few fans ... it was really cool of her to take the time, she could've just peaced out and bailed. I also noticed that Mimi was wearing a couple of really cute Hello Kitty band-aids on her right hand:
I'm not sure what happened to poor Mimi but her band-aids are really cute. She wasn't wearing band-aids on her other hand ... I know this because she accidentally stuck her fabulously manicured finger in my ear in the process of her putting her arm around for the photo. Thank the Gods I cleaned them out earlier in the day :)
I also got to meet a couple of Pink readers last night ... I want to say he to Steven (who is pictured above) and Shirley who I got to chat with for a bit with during commercial breaks.
Mo and I had a great night ... we ended up grabbing a snack at UNO before calling it a night.
I think David and I may hook up again with Monique tonight ... and then we leave for LA tomorrow afternoon. Short but sweet, NYC is always amazing.
WOOT! WOOT! WOOT! At long last new eps of The Hills returned to TV last night as the new mini-season (or extended season, I'm still not quite sure what they're calling it) kicked off in grand style right here in NYC. Lauren LC Conrad, Audrina Partridge and Whitney Port were joined by the utterly fabulous Mariah Carey at Gotham Hall for a premiere event called Live and Glamorous in Gotham last night in celebration of new eps of The Hills. My friend Monique and I were very lucky to be invited to celebrate with the lovely ladies of The Hills and Miss Mimi herself as well. Here are a few pics of LC, Audrina, Whitney and Mariah from last night's event:
The shindig really was a pretty swanky one ... MTV pulled out all the stops this time around ... but we'll get to that in moment. First off, let's run thru last night's 1-hour premiere ep ... [Source]
ATTENTION: THE HILLS SPOILER ALERT WARNING
So, it's been a few months since last we saw The Hills girls doin' their respective things ... LC was having relationship trubs with Brody, Audrina was trying to find a replacement for Justin Bobby, Heidi was fed up with pressure from Spencer to get married and Whitney was running dangerously low on facial expressions. Last night's ep picked up right where the last ep left off ... LC and Whitney flew off to Paris, France in search of new men and new facial expressions (well, ok, they were really on assignment for Teen Vogue but that was just a minor plot point), Audrina stayed home (and wasn't really featured all that much in last night's ep ... tho we did get to hear her voice on the phone) and Heidi retreated back to her parent's home in Colorado to take refuge from Spencer ... and so begins the new season:
Man ... have I missed this show ... there is always so much entertainment wrapped inside each ep, I hardly know what to do with myself. You gotta love that Whitney doesn't know how to pronounce Givenchy properly -- especially when you consider that she's been working at Teen Vogue for a couple of years now :) She's cute tho and she keeps rockin' those awesome facial expressions so I can't really hate on her. The Parisian scenes were so beautifully shot ... it really made me miss that beautiful city. I was confused tho, of all the men in France, how MTV managed to scrounge up the guys that they did. Clearly, the scruffy French guitarist was the only feasible option for LC ... I mean, her options were very limited. That said, the airhead escort wins big over the poor guy with the monobrow. It's unfortch that the one hot guy was only the "tambourine player" because, really, would anyone want to fool around with the tambourine player no matter how hot he is? I wasn't really feeling the wrecked dress bit ... it seemed too obvs clichéd. How many of these types of stories feature a ruined dress which can be replaced at the last minute? LC did make this scenario her own tho ... she ended up thinking it'd be a good idea to tool around Paris on the back of a Vespa while wearing her equally expensive replacement dress ... in the rain. LOL. All in all, the Paris trip looked great but not at all fun ... all they did was work ... poor things. Back in the US, Feminist Hero Heidi Montag took refuge with her parents in Colorado so that she could clear her head from all the Spencer drama. You could tell by the horrible state of Speidi's condo that Heidi was the person in charge of cleaning ... and as a Feminist Hero, Heidi had had enough. I loved how in every scene that Heidi was in you could see all the make-up and bronzer that she was wearing. The matted stuff did not blend well with the snowy white background of Colorado. She would walk in out of the cold in full make-up -- I loved it! Things are off to a great start, I think. I can't wait to see the rest of the season. I'm sure y'all noted that Stephen Colletti will be showing up in the new eps (the room erupted in screams from the audience last night when his face came on the screen) so we're bound to have some great stuff ahead :) [Source]
Okay ... so the show ... because Mariah Carey's performances were filmed first, I was sure that she was going to bolt as soon as possible but it turns out that Mimi stayed in the hiz all night long, came out at various times to film some things and waited til the very end of the show to watch her performances on the big screen. Here are a few pics of Mimi on stage performing and being interviewed:
Here is a short clip from Mariah's performance of Touch My Body (IT MAY STILL BE PROCESSING BUT SHOULD BE AVAILABLE SOON):
She was really pretty amazing. In all, Mariah performed Touch My Body and We Belong Together for airing on the show ... and then she performed the song That Chick from her new album E=MC2 for streaming online at some point (the vid has not been uploaded to MTV's site yet). You'll be happy to know that she referred to us as her lambs ... it was quite an honor.
The night was fantastic ... Jason Preston (recently separated from Marc Jacobs) was there to support his friend Mariah and First Daughter Barbara Bush was also in the hiz ... but she bolted after Mimi's performance was finished. I have to send out much love to Emily from MTV for taking amazing care of us ... we had a blast, as usual. I did get to meet some of these lovely folks at the party last night ... but I'll post those pics in the personal blogpost a little later on :)
Radar magazine has officially launched their new weekly advice column called Yo Spencer which will feature submitted reader questions and advice from, none other than, Spencer Pratt of The Hills infamy ... here is the first question and Spencer's sage advice in turn:
YO SPENCER! I just started dating this guy who I really like. The other night, we went out and got hammered. I ended up passing out in his bed. When I woke up, I discovered that I had wet the bed. I was so embarrassed that I left while he was still asleep. If I call him, do I have to apologize or can I pretend it never happened? Or do I have to wait for him to call me?
Wow! This is a situation you do not want to find yourself in. I personally would never want to be with a girl who gets so wasted that she's pissing in bed. It's time to sign up for AA, my dear, because drunks are not sexy. Regardless, if the guy's really, really, really cool, he might understand. But I wouldn't count on it. Best bet is to be honest and tell him that was the drunkest you've ever been and that it was a huge mistake and it'll never happen again. And make sure you buy him new sheets.
I must agree ... pissing in bed is a no-no ... so I think that Spencer is off to a long and successful career in advice giving. Head on over to RadarOnline.com to read the rest of Spencer's advice column (you'll never guess what he believes is the "tightest bond in history"). Yo Spencer will be updated every Tuesday. [Source]
A radiant Gwen Stefani showed off her huge bump yesterday as she welcomed guests to her baby shower at the Los Angeles home she shares with husband Gavin Rossdale. The heavily pregnant pop star, who never scrimps on glamour when it came to her maternity wear, wore a flowing empire line floral dress and towering wedge heels for the afternoon affair. Stars including Courtney Cox's husband David Arquette and Gwen's former boyfriend and No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal arrived baring gifts for the expectant singer. Gwen is already mother to Kingston, who turns two in May, and it is a role she revels in ... The 38-year-old says she "definitely" wants to have more than two children, quipping: "It's fun trying to get pregnant."
I just love Gwen ... she is always such a beautiful sight no matter what her circumstance is. She really wears pregnancy well ... she always has actually. I'm sure she can't wait to birth this baby so that she can get back to makin' a new one! [Source]
UPDATE: It has come to my attention that these pics of Gwen are old even tho they have been captioned "Gwen Stefani showed off her growing baby bump in LA yesterday". At any rate, Gwen always looks amazing plump and pregs and that is really the point :)
A heavily-pregnant Jessica Alba looked like she wanted to go home - and fast - after dining out with her fiancé in New York. The normally cheerful beauty, who is reportedly expecting twins, looked miserable in the Big Apple at the weekend. With her due date not until June 8, the Fantastic Four actress still has almost three months to go before she gives birth. Perhaps it was being in the city that never sleeps and not home in California, that put 26-year-old Alba in such a bad mood, as her demeanour was a complete contrast to her previous glowing comments about pregnancy. "It's (being pregnant) awesome. It's the best time ever," she said. Of her changing figure, she added: "When you're pregnant, your breasts are engorged and your stomach is getting bigger by the second."
Aww ... poor Jess ... I'm sure things will get better for her soon. And, to be fair, she doesn't really like getting photographed by the paps under any circumstances so maybe she was just in one of her regular crabby moods when she saw the paps. That being said, I imagine Jessica Alba can't *wait* for June to roll around to pop this baby o-u-t ;) [Source]
A pregnant Angelina Jolie and Zahara, 3, toyed around in Texas last week. On Wednesday, they hit Party Pig Superstore in Sunset Valley. Hiding her bump in a black trench coat, Jolie, 32, carried Zahara, who held on to her blankie as they browsed the aisles for an hour.
It's unclear why Angelina did not deign to bring along her other children with her but I'm sure there was a very good reason. Perhaps Princess Z decreed that none of the other rugrats be brought along for this little shopping jaunt ... perhaps Z finds them tiresome and a horrible distraction. I suspect that what Zahara wants, Zahara gets. I imagine that she may not be too happy with the fact that Brangelina are bringing forth new babies to horn in her domain and perhaps Angelina is trying to placate Miss Z with baubles and presents in the meantime. It makes sense ... you do not want to get on Zahara Jolie-Pitt's bad side. [Source]
Pink reader Amanda gave me the head's up that Carrie Underwood confirmed on the radio this morning that she is no longer dating Chace Crawford. HMMMM ... could it be that JC Chasez has finally come between them?
I haven't been able to find any other confirmation of their dunzoness thus far but if you consider that Chace refused to answer the question about the status of his relationship with Carrie at the Paley Center panel discussion for Gossip Girl last Friday ... well, I'm pretty sure they are dunzo for good. It makes sense ... Chace has been spending way more time with his BFF JC than with Carrie (who I don't think he's been seen with for months). [thanks Amanda]
Maybe the dunzoness has nothing at all to do with JC or with anyone else for that matter ... after all, Chace and his GG cohorts have been workin' really hard on the set of Gossip Girl lately (and let's not forget that Carrie has been really bizzy with her stuff too) ... which brings us to this new batch of photos of Chace shooting new scenes with his co-star Jessica Szohr who plays Vanessa on the show (better known as Dan and Serena's cock-block):
Okay ... so what did y'all think about Britney Spears's guest starring part on CBS's How I Met Your Mother which aired last night? I must admit, I wasn't home to watch the show when it aired at 8:30pm but I did watch it before I went to bed. Here are a few screencaps from Britney's appearance on the show:
In case you missed the show last night you can watch the entire episode in 4 parts HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. I was actually surprised at how small Britney's part was in the ep ... but I guess it makes sense that she play the whacky receptionist, especially considering the way things have been going in her life lately. It makes sense to ease her back into the public consciousness without overstepping too soon. I loved the Sarah Chalke character (which was originally supposed to be played by Alicia Silverstone, who I understand bowed out of the part after learning that Britney was cast as well for fear of being overshadowed) and I thought the whole ep was really funny overall. That being said, I think Brit could've been a little bit more natural ... her lines seemed a bit forced, as if she spent a lot of time enunciating before shooting her scenes ... but I was so happy to see that she pulled off the part perfectly. Her awkward manner of speaking fit in nicely with the character (and as much as I love her, I know her awkwardness wasn't by intentional design ... it looked like nerves). People magazine has posted a very thorough treatise on Brit Brit's performance HERE, in case you're interested. It's an intiguing read, if a bit too serious and overblown. I think this was a great little comeback for our dear Britney. I would've never imagined that she'd be back to semi-normal so soon after her mental breakdown in January (that was just 2 months ago, folks). Things are looking up ... I really believe she can keep things on the upswing from here on out :) [Source]
