Losing Myself.
We mananged to watch I Love The 90's: 1994 & 1995. Great stuff! I'm compiling a list of my fave things about the series that I will share when all the episodes have aired.
Day Two with Majik in the hizzy went pretty smoothly. The cats are avoiding one another and there is still growling and hissing but no fighting. I'm confident that they'll eventually adjust to one another.
We're cute ain't we?
Erik went to bed and I ended up watching part of Darkness Falls (horrible flick; Emma Caufield [Anya on Buffy] is in it but it still sucks) and all of 8 Mile.
Man, I was reminded how good a movie 8 Mile is. It doesn't matter what you think about Eminem, the movie is very solid. The scenes shot in Detroit are very very cool. Much of the movie was shot on location here in Detroit:
I have to admit, it's pretty cool seeing parts of the city in the movie. I understand why they did not use the real interior of the Shelter (probably because of size) but they could have used the real exterior of the Shelter/St. Andrew's Hall. Regardless of that little oversight I really think the movie is amazing.
I used to bitch a lot about Detroit, mostly because I was just itching to move away to the West Coast. I don't bitch about it anymore though. Regardless of whether I end up moving or not, I will always consider D-Town home. Detroit has giving me the most important things in my life and maybe I shouldn't be so hasty about leaving.

Thumbs Up / Thumbs Down
Thumbs up!
It has 3 new songs that totally rock! The Mozzer is really releasing some great stuff this time around. I am totally digging his vocal structure and, of course, his lyrical style. Of the new songs I think I like Mexico the best. It's a cute little song that manages to get another dig in at America; Pure Moz!
On the other hand, I listened to Ashlee Simpson's entire album Autobiography (courtesy of MTV's The Leak) and found it bland and boring.
Thumbs down.
There wasn't one song that I even wanted to download via iTunes. The only songs that sounded remotely interesting where the ones that have been featured on her MTV show. Those songs aren't particularly good they are just familiar because I've already heard them on the show.
As a side note, I figured out today that I have downloaded over $50 worth of music from iTunes since I got my iPod. That's a lot of money for downloaded music! And to be completely honest, 98% of all my downloaded music now is strictly from iTunes. The only songs I download from other sources are songs that are not available at iTunes. And even then I'm very wary of downloading the music from other sources because I'm afraid I'm going to get a shitty-quality sounding song; I only want pristine music on my iPod. It's interesting how iTunes and my iPod have completely changed my downloading habits.

The Whole Story.
These two are like a mutated reality show. We watch them in real time but have to seek out the information for ourselves. They don't make it very hard to check in with them almost every day. Seriously, who goes from convenience store to convenience store shopping for junk food only to eat that junk food on the street corner in front of the Paparazzi? With her immense wealth she could disappear from the face of the earth if she wanted to. Instead she chooses to pop up on a daily basis so that we can get a glimpse of her daily life (as sad and contrived [?] as it may be). Hmmm, is Britney playing with all of us? Time will tell and I will stay on top, as best I can (with help from the rest of the Blogosphere*), to see how it all plays out.
Ha! One last thing, whether she's toying with us or not someone thinks that it's time for Britney to Just Say No!
You can get your own trucker hat HERE.

* I have to give serious props to the many blogs that I visit on a daily and, lately, hourly basis for up-to-the-minute goss (or buzz). It's pretty cool watching the information pass from blog to blog to blog. The blogs I link are my faves and are the ones that I refer to most. Many of them (well, probably all of them) are better written than my own so make sure you check them out.

Some stuff you just can't fake.
I am very happy to read the numerous reports of the proposed same-sex marriage ban amendment failure in the Senate. 1115.org wrote a great piece on the subject. I, too, give props to the members of the Senate for doing the right thing. Amending the U.S. Constitution in a manner that discriminates against a group of people is so completely asinine and anti-American.
Divas Update: Courtney Love is now in an "institution" having been released from an New York hospital. Reports are now that she did not suffer a miscarriage, even though her spokesperson claimed she was being treated for "a gynecological medical condition". She is now due in court for 2 different matters -- THIS WEEK and is due for a 3rd matter on September 7th. I suspect she'll be sequestered at this undiscolsed facility until the heat dies down. More on this as it develops.
And, it seems that my suspicions on the legitimacy of the Britney Nipple Slip photo were valid. Upon further inspection, the photograph was likely manipulated via Photoshop.
Looks fine at first glance, but under close inspection, there is some obvious Photoshop work being done ... The person who is the source of this picture took a known photo of Britney and altered it, adding a large portion of the left boob to make it look natural. At about 300% (3X) magnification, you can see a large portion above the areola that was obviously blurred using the smudge tool. [Defamer.com]
I kneeeeeeeew it! My Britney wouldn't be so careless as to let her boob slip out of her top. B-Girl has got class and tons of respect for herself and her fans. When she's on stage she is all business. Her #1 concern is to make sure that her fans, the ones that shell out a considerable amount of money to see her live, are given a top-notch show that is free of careless and offensive mistakes. Off stage and in her personal life, well, that's a different story.
Here we have the lovely Ms. Spears out for a lovely jaunt, enjoying a leisurely walk outside while swigging on a mini-bottle of whisky. Apparently, she is trying to get back to her roots or something in order to live like a normal person ... from the trailer park. She has, of late, taken to munching on junk food while meandering about in public.
Starter
Portion of French fries
Main course
A Subway roll, packets of cheese and onion Wheatos and salt and vinegar Lays crisps with a bottle of orangeade
Dessert
Miniature bottle of Glenlivet whisky with a Red Bull energy drink chaser [The Sun Newspaper]
I'm all for stars living their lives just like normal people but her behavior seems so blatant since she got engaged to Federline. She's just gone off the deep end and seems to have just lost all sense of dignity. Whitney Houston used to be a completely sane and incredible singer. Her addiction to drugs and her relationship with an abusive husband has turned her into a sad mess of a person. It would take a lot for Whitney to get back on track and regain her status as a marketable entertainer. I would hate for Britney to take that route to infamy. I fear that if she goes through with her proposed marriage then she is sure to end up a washed-up has been.
Okay, I'm off to supervise the kitties; make sure they don't hate one another. More later ...

Still the Land of the Free.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A White House-backed drive to amend the U.S. Constitution to ban same-sex marriage headed toward an election-year defeat on Capitol Hill on Wednesday ... While two-thirds of the 100-member Senate must approve a constitutional amendment, Republicans scrambled to get a simple majority. And they admitted they did not have the 60 votes needed to survive a procedural vote set for Wednesday.
Yes! I really think Massachusetts has set the standard. I do think there is a long road ahead but I'm confident we will eventually have same-sex marriage in the United States of America.
UPDATE: It's official, the Senate defeated the initial attempt to amend the U.S. Constitution to outlaw same-sex marriage.
The vote was 48-50, 12 short of the 60 needed to keep the measure alive. Six Republicans joined dozens of Democrats in sealing the amendment's fate.
C-SPAN has the vote tally.
