Letter Of Truth: Thanking The Gods For Undergarments Edition

BritneySpears.com has been updated with a message from Britney Spears herself ... well, it's more likely that someone advised her to up the message up (thanks Larry Rudolph), but that is beside the point. Here is Britney's latest message to the masses:

It would seem that Britney has finally realized what toll her latest nether-lips bearing actions have been taking on her public image and is trying to explain her side of the situation. It's a bit sad to read that she hasn't celebrated her birthday in 2 years. The bit about the Victoria's Secret underwear is cute (and I agree, Thank God!). Hopefully she got all of her hard-partying out of the way and will now focus on her children and her work. It takes so little effort on her part to make her fans happy ... I think this is a step in the right direction. [Source]

Brit's decision to try and clean up her act couldn't come at a better time ... it sounds like she got it out of her system and now she's ready to get down to bizznazz. Altho, Pink reader Mary brought something to my attention. Over at the Fox News website, there is a picture of Britney from the American Music Awards (where she showed up as a surprise presenter a couple of weeks ago) that makes it look like her right nipple is peeking out from her dress ... now, I haven't seen this picture before but the more I look at it, the more it looks like a bona-fide nip slip:

Click above to see potentially NSFW uncensored image

It's a strange photo ... because there doesn't appear to be anything on her dress that could look like her nip and yet, there is appears to be. The second picture is also from the Fox News site and from that angle you can't see anything that might be on her dress. Is it a nip? Am I worrying too much about this? Probably ... but now that Brit-Brit has vowed to start wearing underwear again, I guess we'll have to take what we can get. [Source, thanks Mary]

Here are a few new pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal as he dined at Orso restaurant in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday ... and Lordy, Lordy ... is that a see-thru shirt that he's wearing?

Hmmm ... it's not quite a see-thru shirt but it does look like one of those amazing garments that celebs wear that seem to disappear as soon as flash bulbs go off. Damn, I am not complaining one bit. [Source]

Gwen Stefani held a press conference here in NYC to announce her new partnership with Coty fragrances. It looks like very soon you will be able to not only dress in L.A.M.B. but you're be able to smell like L.A.M.B. as well:

Ya know, I'm not a big fan of leopard print (actually, I'm not usually a fan of any animal print at all) but something about this ensemble makes it work -- I think it's Gwen's hot legs. I am fairly certain the world does not need another celebrity endorsed fragrance (isn't Britney Spears Curious quite enough?) but if they keep building enough shelves at Wal-Mart to sell these perfumes then I think they're gonna keep on coming. Gwen's new smell is due out by Fall '07. [Source]

One more Gwen thing, check out these adorable pictures of Gwen leaving her press conference with little Kingston James in tow:

He's such a little doll! He's lucky to have a hot mom like Gwen. [Source]

Well, it appears the speculation over whether or not Mario Lopez is romancing his Dancing with the Stars co-star Karina Smirnoff is pretty much over. Here are a few pictures of the pair canoodling as they vacation together down in Mexico:

Karina seems like a pretty cool chick ... the fact that she has no probs being seen in public smooching with Mario while he wears that ridiculous-looking headband is pretty admirable ... but hey, maybe that's how he gets rid of those AC Slater jeri curls. Congrats to the new couple ... with the way things have been going in Hollywood lately, the relationship might end before their vacation does. [Source]

Quick question ... why does Mario Lopez have to be the one to pose with the pinatas?

Are there no other Mexicoids that can do the job? [thanks Sarah]

It appears that Diddy is once again Puff Daddy ...

... tho I suspect that he has been Puffy all along. [Source]

Cameron Diaz paid a little visit to MTV's TRL earlier this week, here are a couple of pics from her appearance:

Cam showed up to TRL to promote her new movie The Holiday which co-stars Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black. Um, if I were Cameron I would never make that face again ... rotund is not a good look for her. The Holiday opens in theaters this Friday. [Source]

Jennifer Hudson is on the cover of the new issue of The Advocate magazine, which caters to the LGBT audience, and it's no secret that she has been courting the Gay audience since she started doing promo for Dreamgirls -- which I think is awesome. But there is much ballyhoo over an interview that Jennifer gave to the Dallas Voice newspaper where it seems that she was caught off guard by the interviewer and was forced to give the answers that the interviewer was looking for:

How Christian is Hudson? As a kid, Hudson says she visited Dallas a few times. "For church conventions," she explains. What's her faith background? "I'm Baptist, if that's what you mean," she says ... As a Baptist who's singing at circuit party, has Hudson reconciled her spiritual beliefs and her gay fan base? Does she support same-sex marriage? "Nobody has ever asked me these questions," she says. "Everybody sins," Hudson continues. "No sin is greater or different than the other. To each his own. If it don't bother Jennifer, then Jennifer don't mind. I don't really even think about it because I don't believe in judging people for what they do." When referencing themselves, lots of divas probably do that schizophrenic thing where they toggle between first and third person. But did Hudson just say that being gay is a sin? "According to the way we're taught, and what it says in the Bible -- it is," Hudson says. If her answers didn't already sound like fundamentalist cliches, Hudson then added, "I have plenty of gay friends." C'mon, it's clear to me that the interviewer was only interested in getting Jennifer to say something that could be perceived as "anti-gay" in order to give the story the controversy it needed to reach a wider audience -- unfortch, the little ploy worked. The interviewer actually tried to portray her as fundamentalist?! That is ridiculous. Jennifer does not strike me as "anti-gay" in the least, in fact, she strikes me as quite the opposite. In response to this interview, Jennifer has responded personally on her blog on her official website:

"In a recent interview, I was asked how I reconciled being a Christian with performing at events for my gay fans. I find it upsetting that some folks equate being a Christian with being intolerant of gay people. That may, unfortunately, be true for some, but it is not true for me. I have talked often of my love and support of the gay community. I have said again and again that it was the gay community that supported me long before and long after AMERICAN IDOL, and kept me working and motivated. It is the gay community that celebrated my voice and my size and my personality long before DREAMGIRLS. Yes, I was raised Baptist. Yes, I was taught that the Bible has certain views on homosexuality. The Bible also teaches us not to judge. It teaches us to love one another as God loves us all. I love my sister, my two best friends and my director dearly. They happen to be gay. So what? While some search for controversy, I hope that my friends and fans who know me, know where I stand." -Jhud

It's clear that she is not shying away from the gay community ... not that she needs to court it either. I think she has been handling herself just fine. Everything that she says when it comes to religion is going to be scrutinized to death ... it just comes with the territory. I'm with you J. Hud ... you're deff all good in my book. It don't bother Trent and Trent don't mind. [Source, thanks Ryan]

David and Victoria Beckham are featured in the new issue of Hello magazine showing their love for one another:

OY! Becks just looks insanely hot. Victoria Beckham is one lucky artificial humanoid entity. [Source]

Tori Spelling is in dire need of your money ... so this weekend she is going to be selling her shizz at a yard sale in Studio City, CA in order to get your money:

I'm actually heartbroken that I'm going to miss this yard sale ... can you imagine what Donna Martin treasures can be found amongst her piles of crap that she's trying to unload? If you are interested in attending this weekend's, ahem, estate sale then click HERE for further deets ... and then send me pictures of what you score. [Source]

And finally, I have to give big props to my good friend Adriana aka Furious Georgette for successfully participating in her first Roller Derby game this past Saturday as she took to the rink for the LA Derby Dolls:

She looks amazing in these pics, don't cha think! Congrats on surviving your first game fully intact, AY! I'm looking forward to many more games to come. XO

ONE MORE THING ... I have to send out lots of Birthday Lurve to my dear sweet Louise Post, from Veruca Salt, who turns another year older today:

I have been so lucky this year that I finally got to meet Louise and I just couldn't let the day go by without wishing her a very Happy Birthday. I hope all of your Birthday wishes come true, Louise! XOXO [Source, thanks Lauren]

Les News:
Last night, David and were lucky enough to see two of my favorite performers on the same stage at the same show. Leona Naess opened up for Ryan Adams and the Cardinals at the Town Hall here in NYC. Generally, the show was pretty good ... we had a good time ... but the show did have a few probs that left a bit to be desired:

Leona came out and had a guest sing backup for her on her first song ... it was Ryan Adams himself. It's interesting to see these two working together again ... they are ex-lovers and it was my understanding that things ended on bad terms. It would seem that they've gotten over that drama and are friends again. I was a little bummed that Leona only played about 6 songs ... her set was very short. I was really left wanting more but it was good to see her nonetheless.

Ryan was a total freakshow ... he wore two different sets of platform shoes and two different ponytail configurations in his hair (which he changed during the short intermission mid-way thru the show). He got a little bitchy after people kept yelling out songs for him to play ... which is understandable because I wasn't in the mood to hear drunk people in the audience yelling out song titles every five seconds. He explained that he's been sober for 7 months and that it was weird for him to perform some of his songs sober ... and then someone yelled out for him to play Summer of '69. I thought for sure he was going to get pissed and walk off stage but he didn't ... he played a couple more songs and then walked off the stage and ended the show. No encore, no explanation. Honestly, it felt like the show would've been longer if the audience wasn't so horrible (I once saw Ryan play 2 full 2-hour sets back to back one night just because he was "feeling it"). Even still, his performance was amazing. He sounded great and he played a lot of really great songs.

I was really hoping he would play Firecracker because that is the song that David and I bonded over when we first met in Amsterdam. I heard that he played the song in concert the night before our show therefore, because he was not playing any songs more than once over his 3-night stint at the Town Hall, we weren't able to hear the song live. So ... thanks to Stereogum, we can watch Ryan's performance of Firecracker on YouTube from the night before:

Even if we couldn't hear it live, this is better than nothing. Head on over to CK's Life to watch some video from all 3 of Ryan's shows. [thanks Melanie]

I have to give a shout out to Pink readers Sarah, Nicolette, Erika and Kate who I met at the show ... and Thomas and Amy who I met at the Virgin Megastore afterwards. It was awesome getting to meet you all.

I'm not sure what David and I have planned for today ... prolly just hanging out in the city. And ... I guess that's it! Lates!
