The Beginning Of The End

It's been a few days since Britney Spears has been sighted at a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game so it's prolly a good time to reveal that she is not, in fact, in a relationship with Lakers basketball player Luke Walton. It turns out that it is Britney's cousin Alli who "has the hots" for Luke and it was she who supposedly dragged Britney to all those Lakers games. It sounds reasonable to me ... I think we would have had some proof if Britney and Luke were an actual item ... other than her attendance at Lakers games. Here are pictures of Britney, out with her lately inseparable cousin Alli emerging from the Millennium Dance Studio in North Hollywood, CA yesterday afternoon:

Britney Spears cleared up any rumors Wednesday that she's got a crush on Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton, 27, whom the singer had dubbed "cute" in 2004. Spears communicated to inquiring paparazzi that it is her cousin who has the crush on the 6-foot-8 basketballer. Usmagazine.com sources say Spears nodded in agreement when her cousin Alli told photographers that she is the gal with the hots for Walton, and it was she who dragged the recently rehabbed pop star to three Lakers games in just over a week. (Bummer for Alli: Lakers rep John Black tells Us Weekly that "Luke has a girlfriend.") Spears, 25, has been spending a lot of time with her cousin since returning from her weekend retreat in Las Vegas. The two hit the Epitome Salon in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, with Spears stripping down to a white bikini for a tanning session. Then the pair then drove all over town, blasting Nelly Furtado's CD on the stereo, sipping Starbucks and shopping for kids' clothes for Spears' sons. It's funny ... Britney has this need to go out every single day. She never ever stays home anymore. She spends more time at the dance studio than she does with her kids -- is she even taking classes or is she just hanging out? I just don't know what to think about that girl anymore. [Source]

ATTENTION: LOST SPOILER ALERT WARNING

Finally ... Lost has hit its stride. Generally speaking, the episodes that have aired this year (since the "Fall finale" last year) have been pretty good (I still hate the Hurley ep but that's beside the point). Last night's great episode made me realize that there have been a good run of great eps these past few weeks so I can stop complaining and I can start paying attention to all the new info and drama the producers are finally giving us. Last night's Juliette centric ep was very good ... right up until the end. Even tho I wasn't as shocked by the ending as, I'm sure, many people were I did love how the ep wrapped itself up ... and set the stage for the final eps of the season:

Screencapures courtesy of Lost Media

You gotta hand it to the producers, Juliette has to be one of the most intriguing and interesting characters that Lost has come up with. Surely she is the best new character addition but I feel that, overall, she is the most complex and complicated character that exists on the island. She can so easily go from appearing as an innocent victim of circumstance to a cold-hearted conniving bitch at a moment's notice. As much as I hate to love her ... I love her. Her control of Jack is brilliant. He irritates me to NO END, I can't even stand him any more ... the fact that she's got him completely fooled is brills tho. Okay ... so we learned a lot this ep ... how Juliette came to be on the island, that the mysterious Jacob can "cure cancer", that the Others had no prior knowledge of the Flight 815 survivors before they crashed on the island, that women can't get pregnant on the island and that the world-at-large is aware that the plane is missing. This new info further complicates the overall story. If the survivors weren't picked and placed on the island then how does everyone's stories connect with each other -- thru coincidence? If Juliette really wants off the island, why does she keep believing that Ben will help her? How is it that Juliette can appear so innocent and yet still be so vicious? I found her romantic involvement with Goodwin very interesting ... she must have some feelings about the fact that he was killed by the survivors. The pregnancy stuff is a bit confusing ... are we to take what they say at face value? Do they know that Sun is pregs? Is she the real reason that Juliette has infiltrated the camp? That last scene, where we discovered her true intentions, was just so well done ... it was revealed in the best way. The audience was prolly snowed but I was not. I never trusted her ... even tho her backstory makes her look like an innocent. I wouldn't be surprised if her sister was in on the ruse to get Juliette on the island ... that there was no cancer to begin with. I dunno ... all I know is that we are getting more questions and the story is getting INTERESTING. Finally ... I care about the story again. This is the type of stuff that we should have been getting at the start of the season. [Source]

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie made their way to their home away from home yesterday ... the Kitson shop on Robertson Blvd. in West Hollywood, CA to film some new scenes for their upcoming season of The Simple Life:

With big sunglasses, tiny dogs and shopping bags a-plenty clutched in their mitts, the girls went about recreating a scene that we've all seen many times before. One things for sure, they really know how to make an entrance and they definitely know how to make a scene. [Source]

Paris, not contend to share the spotlight with Nicole, always manages to give the crowd that little something extra to make her stand out:

But yet, once again, it's something that we've all seen many times before. [Source]

Lane Garrison showed up to court yesterday only to have his hearing postponed until May ... but his attorney has revealed that Lane plans on pleading Guilty to the charge of manslaughter (and may plead guilty to other charges as well) when his hearing reconvenes on May 21st. Here are pictures of Lane as he made is way out of the courtroom yesterday:

Former "Prison Break" actor Lane Garrison will plead guilty to vehicular manslaughter for a crash that killed a 17-year-old boy who was a passenger in his car, his attorney said Wednesday. Garrison, 26, will make the plea May 21 in Superior Court, attorney Harland Braun said after a hearing at which Garrison's arraignment was postponed. Braun said Garrison might plead guilty to some other charges, too. The charges carry up to six years and eight months in prison. Garrison remains free on bail. "He's fairly accepting," Braun said. "He realizes that he has to step up and take responsibility for what he did." Garrison was driving a 2001 Land Rover that jumped a curb at about 50 mph and hit a tree Dec. 2, police said. Beverly Hills High School student Vahagn Setian was killed. Two 15-year-old girls also in the car were injured. Police said Garrison had a blood-alcohol level of .20 percent and cocaine in his system ... Braun said that in addition to manslaughter, his client may plead to some of the other charges and attempt to have others dropped under plea negotiations. However, Braun said "there will be no agreement on sentencing," which will be left up to the judge. I must admit that I am very surprised that Lane is willing to accept responsibility for his crime. He has a very good chance of having to serve prison time and yet he is still willing to own up to his horrible and fatal mistake. I really do hope the judge punishes the actor for his crime ... driving while intoxicated and causing death and injury is a very serious crime and it should be punished to the full extent of the law. That said, I commend Garrison for acknowledging that what he did was wrong and for his willingness to pay the penalty. We'll see how this will actually go down later on this year but I hope that Garrison remains steadfast in his conviction to pay the price for his deadly actions. [Source]

Jennifer Lopez was the special guest on American Idol this week. Now, I don't watch the show at all but David does so I caught portions of Tuesday night's ep (where J. Lo was coaching the contestants) and last night's ep (where J. Lo actually performed) and I was reminded why I don't like watching the show. In any case, J. Lo looked good even if her performance was flat and uninspired:

I liked the outfit ... and that was pretty much it. The smoke and wind machines made the whole performance look cheesy as hell ... the sad attempt at dance choreography was hilarious. I'm sure that J. Lo only agreed to do AI in the hopes that she would be able to sell more albums ... I'm not sure if her performance inspired anyone to actually buy her album but it was a good effort nonetheless. I'm sorry, I just don't get why people get excited for American Idol. From what I've seen of the performances so far ... I could care less who wins the title of American Idol this year. [Source]

Pete Doherty invited his lady love Kate Moss to perform with him on stage last night ... and then Pete used the opportunity to publicly introduce her on stage as his fiancee. Lord, could they drag out this engagement any longer? Here are pics from his show at Hackney Empire in East London last night:

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty dedicated a song to lover Kate Moss, describing her as his fiancee as she appeared on stage alongside him. Performing a solo gig at the Hackney Empire in east London, he introduced the track "KP Nuts", and said: "I am dedicating this song..." before the crowds interrupted him to shout out "Kate, Kate". The singer then replied: "Yes, to my beautiful fiancee." Moss was wearing a ring on her engagement finger as she performed briefly alongside her boyfriend, who was wearing a grey suit, colourful necklaces and his trademark hat. It appears that perhaps Kate is finally having a positive influence on Mr. Doherty ... his concert went off without a hitch. No blood, no passing out, no dying girls on the tour bus ... just a lovely duet between PeteMoss. [Source]

Additionally, Kate is featured in the new issue of Dazed and Confused where she posed very conservatively in her kitchen and in her lover's warm embrace:

Could the couple finally be ready to settle down and live like mature adults? I doubt it ... so we'll have to see how long this new behavior will last. [Source]

Pink reader Kat was lucky enough to get close to Adam Brody when he showed up for a radio interview at her local radio station recently ... here are a couple pictures that she sent in to share:

I'm much obliged that Kat sent in this scruffy goodness to share with all of us. He is a cutie! [thanks Kat]

Drew Barrymore has been chosen as the new face of Covergirl cosmetics ... here are pictures of Drew at the Covergirl announcement event yesterday:

She looks great in that yellow dress. I can see Drew as a good match for Covergirl. I'm sure it won't be long before we start seeing commercials of Drew telling us how she puts on her own make-up ... as if she really puts on her own make-up. She's a cutie, she'll make a great spokesperson, I think. [Source]

What have we here ... is Mandy Moore gettin' some lurvin' from a new dude?

Sure the pair are merely standing next to one another ... but if you recall, that's the way things got started with DJ AM earlier this year. Mandy likes to take things slow ... we'll know it's serious when they actually starting holding hands in public. [Source]

In other Mandy news, she is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of C magazine:

The cover photo is a bit odd there's something not quite right about her face ... but the other photo is great! It looks like it could've been shot for Vogue. I like Mandy all dressed up in fancy dresses. [Source]

Earlier this year it was revealed that Kylie Minogue was chosen as the face of H&M's new beachwear line ... and here are a few photos from Kylie's new H&M campaign:

Not only does Kylie's new beachwear line look great but it will also help raise money for a great cause. From the H&M press release: The Kylie beachwear line is a limited edition that contains fifteen styles. H&M customers however, will not be left wanting when it comes to poolside attire. H&M's main beachwear range pushes all the right trend buttons in a look that smacks of glam beach-life, where glinting silver and gold metallic play off graphic black and white animal prints, while sizzling hot hues of yellow, red and pink reflect the surfing influences. 10 percent of the money spent on the 'H&M loves Kylie' line will be donated to WaterAid. The international charity WaterAid is dedicated to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world's poorest people.

Prices:
Swimsuit: €19.90, Bikini top: €14.90, Bikini bottom: €9.90, Tunic: €19.90, Caftan: €29.90, Dress: €29.90

More information about WaterAid can be found HERE. Kylie looks amazing in these bathing suits ... she has still got the sexiest legs around. Sooo hot! [Source]

James Franco is this month's coverboy for the new issue of Complex magazine:

Clearly, he was instructed to show off his wide rage of gloomy faces. [Source]

Rue McClanahan is releasing a new memoir! I am excited beyond words:

Finally ... all those salacious Golden Girls secrets will be revealed once and for all. See ... gay mens' dreams really can come true. [Source]

And finally, it is my sad duty to give a Peace the Spork Out to the amazing writing Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. who passed away at the age of 84 due to complications from a brain injury he suffered a few weeks ago:

Kurt Vonnegut, whose absurdist visions and cynical outlook infused such books as "Slaughterhouse-Five" and "Cat's Cradle," has died. He was 84. Vonnegut died at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital at 9:45 p.m. ET Wednesday, said his wife, photographer Jill Krementz. Vonnegut had been hospitalized for several weeks after suffering brain injuries following a fall at his East Side Manhattan home. "Kurt was a loving, funny husband who always made me laugh," Krementz said. "He was a wonderful father who was proud and supportive of his children." Vonnegut's novels and short stories, which blended humor, bitterness, profundity and a devout humanity, attracted a wide audience and made him a key figure in 20th-century American literature ... His last book, "A Man Without a Country" (2005), took aim at the Bush administration, the Iraq war, corporate America and conformist Americans. The slim work became a best-seller, a status Vonnegut characterized as "a nice glass of champagne at the end of a life," according to the AP. I could never fashion as fitting a tribute to Vonnegut as the illustrious ThighMaster does at HIS SITE but I will say that Vonnegut was a masterful writer who lived his life as fully as possible for which I am extremely thankful ... and he will be sorely missed. Les News:
David and I spent a great night hanging out with good friends last night. Andy Towle from Towleroad invited us over to watch Lost and play a little Wii and that's exactly what we did. I have been staying away from the Wii for fear that I would love it so much that I'd have to buy one ... but I have been secretly anxious to get to play one. We had so much fun! Seriously, the tennis game is the best ... and it turns out that I am a master at Wii bowling -- who knew? You know all those stories about how accidents happen while playing the Wii (people getting hit, controllers getting thrown into TVs)? Well they're all true ... things were going along great until Andy sloshed a drink all over the ottoman. Wii is fun ... but can be deadly, play at your own risk.

David and I had a great time hanging out with Andy and his boyfriend Dave. They're such great guys ... I hate that we only ever hang out once every 12 months ... hopefully, we can remedy that problem soon.

It's cold and rainy here in NYC today ... David is out doing 10 million things today ... but tonight we're going to see the Broadway musical Mary Poppins. Gaw, I am so excited ... isn't that sad? ;)

I'm out.
