Love Is A Battlefield

Blaurgh ... I had a rough time getting out of bed this morning afternoon mostly because I just didn't want to wake up and since I have a strict "no alarm clock" policy on the weekends well ... there you have it. Some of my lack of desire to get out of bed may have stemmed from those tequila shots that I did with Gillian last night ... but I'll get to that in a bit. Let's get to the day's goss ...

Unless you live on Planet Mars, I'm sure you've been well aware that a series of massive concerts took place yesterday all across the globe in an effort to raise eco-awareness by way of musical entertainment. Live Earth was broadcast on many cable networks and streamed live on the Interweb all day long yesterday. I managed to catch some of the coverage thruout the day yesterday but it was difficult to keep track of what was what since many different TV channels were broadcasting the same things in different orders, etc. I did make sure to catch Madonna's short set from the Live Earth concert in London, England and here are a few pics from her performance:

Madge played only a few songs during her set including the song she penned with Pharrell called Hey You specifically for the Live Earth concert series (click HERE to watch). She also dusted off her little disco platform and closed her set with her uberhit Hung Up (click HERE to watch) and really dusted off an oldie but a goodie when she did La Isla Bonita (click HERE to watch). As entertaining as all the performances were I really hope that y'all paid attention to those PSAs that aired in between the performances. It is so easy to make just one small change in your life that could affect a positive change for the environment. I have no interest in preachin' bout this to anyone ... all I'm saying is that it's not that difficult to do :) [Source]

While watching the Live Earth coverage on the Sundance channel I caught a PSA featuring Eden Espinosa (Elphaba) and Megan Hilty (Glinda) from the LA cast of Wicked doin' their thing:

It may be a bit cheesy but I love that they did it. Check it out and maybe YOU TOO can Change For Gooooooood.

Well ... Paris Hilton's much ballyhooed notions to change her partygirl ways seem to have been cast aside. In just under 2 weeks of freedom, Paris Hilton has gotten back on the horse and hit the clubs again this weekend. Here are pictures of a busty-looking Paris making her way into and out of Area nightclub:

I'm sure the club promoters have missed her terribly. Hmm ... I wonder how this bodes for all those life-altering changes she had planned to make. [Source]

Emma Watson has arrived in LA for the premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (scheduled to take place tonight) and made a beeline from LAX airport to Robertson Blvd. in West Hollywood so that she could do some shopping like the big Hollywood "It" Girls do at Kitson:

As a Hollywood "It" Girl in training it makes sense that she would go straightaway to Kitson ... after all, they are fully stocked with things like Hollywood "It" Girl training bras -- padded, of course. It looks like little Emma is well on her way to Hollywood "It" Girldom. [Source]

David Beckham has left the beautiful country of France (where he prolly left his spandex biking outfits -- boo) and hooked up with his robotic wife Victoria back in the UK to be on hand at the British Grand Prix as a guest of Honda (which is cool, cuz I drive a Honda). Here are a few pics from the event:

This appearance is one of the last that Becks will be making in the UK since his family is set to arrive in LA on July 12 (my birthday gift, apparently) where he will begin his stint as the newest member of the LA Galaxy. His arrival in LA is so close I can almost taste it ... which sounds a little dirtier than it prolly should ;) [Source]

Yesterday on 07.07.07 Prince launched his new fragrance called 3121 at Macy's Department Store in Minneapolis, MN (his hometown) before he played a HUGE 777 show at the Target Center that night. Here is a pic from the Macy's launch:

I haven't smelled this new Prince fragrance but something tells me that it smells of lavender and honeysuckle. Something about this little man just screams lavender and honeysuckle. I don't believe there is a male version of this new fragrance but, then again, something tells me that Prince was never one to wear male fragrances anyways. [Source]

After Prince launched his new perfume and then played his massive show at the Target Center, he played an aftershow concert at the First Avenue club in Minneapolis where he got his start as a musician waaaay back in the day. Here is a pic taken from the stage at last night's First Avenue aftershow show:

First Avenue was featured in his 1984 movie Purple Rain and is considered the Mecca of Prince venues. Outside of the private concerts that were held at his Paisley Park Studios in Minneapolis, his shows at First Avenue have to be among his most legendary. Seeing Prince at the Roosevelt Hotel was pretty cool but being able to see Prince play at First Avenue has to be an honor. [Source]

Things appear to be going very well between Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz who seem as if they remain happily attached to one another (and I say, good for them!). Here are pictures of Ashl33n spending some vacay time together in the Hamptons this weekend at Stereo House in South Hampton and then at a HPNOTIQ and Blackbook magazine sponsored party at a Dune were Pete spun some records:

At the Dune party, Pete played Justin Timberlake's song I Can't Wait To Fall in Love with You for Ashlee and she was spotted mouthing back the words I can't wait to fall in love with you to Pete. Blah, if that ain't cute I don't know what is. It's nice to see that some couples can manage to successfully keep it together every once in a while. [Source]

As much as Ashlee may lurve Pete there is no way that she loves him more than Colin Farrell loves his son. Here are pics of a very protective Colin clutching his song as they made their way thru a sea of paparazzi at LAX airport earlier this week:

Apparently, Colin was getting pissy that the photogs where using flashes to take their pictures. I suppose I can understand Colin's need to be protective of his child but he is in the wrong biz to really expect anonymity for him or his family. It's sweet that he's all daddy bear about the situation tho ... I wouldn't want to be the one to piss him off in a circumstance like this. [Source]

Pink reader Hanin sends in these pictures from Israel where Naomi Campbell has been popping up on huge billboards all over the place:

Naomi sure looks like Miss Thang in these pics. She looks pretty hot. [thanks Hanin]

An industrious Siouxsie Sioux fan has created an unofficial My Space profile chock full of what look to be new promo pics:

The profile page is also streaming her new single Into A Swan (which you can add to your My Space profile as well). I'm not sure if this page will be able to stay up for long but check it out while you can. [Source]

The latest Bachelor Andy Baldwin was spotted tucked all snug into a tiny speedo at the Cholo's 2000 Swim off the Hawaiian island of Oahu on Saturday which does a bit to offset the disappointment of no new Becks speedo pics this summer:

Yes ... these pics do nicely. One can never have too much weekend hotness. [Source]

And speaking of ... here is this week's Hot Dude of the Week ... let's say hello to Brian:

Since Andy brought the speedo action, we'll just have to enjoy Brian's plain and simple style this week. Enjoy. [Source]

One last thing, I have to send out lots of Birthday Lurve to my dear Diana who lives all the way on the opposite end of the country in Washington DC. Today Diana turns one year older and even tho I can't be with her today I want her to know that I love her and I miss her and I didn't forget her birthday like she thinks I do every year. XOXO

Les News:
Yesterday afternoon I met up with my friend Gillian in Pasadena where we all made our way to the Alhambra Festival to see Pat Benatar play for free for the assembled masses. Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect since it was a free street fair but Pat sounded amazing. Her voice still sounds great and she played all of the hits that everyone turned out to hear:

Absent the fact that Pat's hair really was not her best and her outfit was a bad choice IMHO, the show was really, really fun. She knew that everyone showed up to hear songs like Hell is for Children, Hit Me With Your Best Shot and Love is a Battlefield and she did not disappoint. I think it's safe to say that everyone had a great time (and I got to meet Pink reader Jennifer [pictured above] who just happened to be squeezed in the crowd right next to me). It was a great distraction for me so I was very happy that Gillian invited me to join the fun.

I have to admit, I'm nowhere near back to normal but I'm doing my best to keep it together. I'm still in a bit of a daze from all the stuff that's going on in my life ... and I'm just hoping for a little clarity sometime soon.

That is all. I'm out.
