GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!

With rumors going back and forth regarding Britney Spears's "surprise" performance at the 2007 MTV VMAs this year (some claim that she is doing it for sure, others claim it's still up in the air whether or not she'll do it and still others are convinced that it ain't happening at all) it's hard to determine what is fact and what is fiction. I know that the most successful VMAs in recent years have been the ones that featured a Britney Spears performance when she was at the height of her popularity (I have a hard time deciding which was her most successful performance, in terms of water cooler talk the next morning -- her Oops! I Did It Again strip tease or her Like A Virgin kiss with Madonna). But since her star has fallen a bit I figured it would take a miracle for her to be able to not only perform at the VMAs next month but to do so in spectacular fashion. It appears, tho, that she might not need a miracle ... all she'll need is a little magic. Britney was spotted "hanging out" with famed illusionist Criss Angel last night which immediately had people assuming that they were hooking up ... but Jordan at BreatheHeavy.com is reporting that the two are engaged in talks regarding a collaborative performance for the VMAs next month:

Britney is out to dinner right now with Criss Angel (a famous magician). They are discussing, and no I'm not lying, her VMA performance!!! If things go accordingly, Britney will be a real shocker at this year's Video Music Awards. Now ya see her, now ya don't. The mysterious Britney Spears saga continues. And I cannot wait. As I said before, I had my doubts that Britney could pull off a successful VMA performance but this "news" that Britney may be collaborating with Criss Angel gives me hope. Sure it might be gimmicky but, at this point, I'll take it. This is great news! [Source]

In other great news, it turns out that the photos that Britney posed for for the new issue of Allure magazine turned out pretty damn good. Here are the photos that made publication:

She looks good ... very reminiscent of the good ol' days. It's plainly obvious that these photos were taken recently (as opposed to that Believe photo) and that they actually turned out well. [Source via Source]

But, the goodness doesn't end there ... Allure.com has posted the outtake photos from this photoshoot along with some extra commentary from the events that took place during the shoot. Here are some of my favorites of the outtake pics:

Allure's September cover shoot, at Pier 59 Studios West, was Spears's first since filing for divorce from Kevin Federline in November 2006 ... The singer took off her own long, honey blonde wig to reveal one inch of ashy blonde hair. "She was more shocked [when the wig came off] than anyone else," hairstylist Danilo said ... "I wanted to capture the free spirit Britney, so I photographed her on the floor and let her do what she wanted," Thompson said. The singer chose to pose topless, opting to wear her own jewelry ... Contrary to reports of questionable behavior at other shoots, Spears was easygoing at Allure's. "She was game," Reiss-Andersen said. "She was like, 'What do you want me to do?' We were done very quickly." "Everyone thinks of you as not human," Spears said when she was 18 years old. "I just want to be a normal girl.... I don't want to be a role model—except maybe to my little sister." "We got the pictures—she was really a gem that way—and she was out the door," Danilo said. And there you have it ... the shoot doesn't sound nearly as crazy as the infamous OK! magazine shoot -- and yet, Britney bailed on 4 appointments to sit down for a proper interview with the magazine to accompany the photos. It's like, she almost gets it right ... you can tell she's trying (on some level) but she never really comes thru with the follow-thru. I will be thrilled beyond WORDS if she is able to pull together a hot performance for the VMAs next month ... but my breath, I will not be holding. I will keep hope alive, tho. [Source]

One last bit of Britness, here are pics of Britney driving around with Cousin Alli in her rag top looking a little worse for the wear:

I get that the girl is stressed, I can't imagine what it feels like to be her these days. All I have to say is that I think she can significantly lower her stress level if she just chilled out for a bit. She doesn't need to be going out every single night ... stay home and play board games or something. I promise, it's fun! [Source]

Let's move on to the BIG story of the day. The LA Galaxy took on DC United on their home turf at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA last night in SuperLiga play and ended up walking away with their first win since David Beckham joined the team. The Galaxy enjoyed a 2-0 victory over DC ... with one of those goals coming off the boot of David Beckham himself -- his first since joining the LA Galaxy:

David Beckham scored his first goal Wednesday as an L.A. Galaxy player. Wearing his No. 23 shirt, the midfielder – starting in his first game for the Galaxy – scored on a free kick in the 27th minute. Galaxy went on to defeat D.C. United, 2-0, with Beckham assisting U.S. international Landon Donovan, Galaxy's usual captain, with the second goal. "The free kick was the first I've taken for eight weeks, so it was quite pleasing," Beckham, 32, told the Associated Press afterward. "I felt I was going to score as soon as I had the ball in my hands." Beckham played until the 63rd minute, and received a standing ovation as he exited the field. A Galaxy trainer immediately attended to Beckham's left ankle, which has long plagued the star's American debut. "I didn't expect to last an hour but it felt great after 10 minutes into the game," Beckham said. "My confidence got up with my ankle and I was happy to be out there for 60 minutes. Overall, the ankle was a lot better than I thought it was going to be and I felt confident going into tackles." Praise the blessed Lord baby Jebus -- it sounds like his ankle is finally healed enough so that fans can expect to see him actually play in games from now on. You know, I almost went to last night's game ... altho I have season tix, last night's game wasn't part of the regular season so I would've had to buy an extra ticket -- which would've been fine except I had plans to hang out with my friends last night ... since it was the first time I'd get to see Kirsten since her return from Australia, well, I missed the game. It's all good tho, I know that I've got years of Galaxy games to look forward to. I'm just so pleased that Becks is not only back to playing form but he's already started his goal count with the Galaxy -- 1 down, 249 million to go. [Source]

Obvs, I wasn't the only one pleased with Becks's first Galaxy goal ... I'm sure the fans in the stands were going apeshizz in celebration. His family was also in attendance at last night's game and they all seemed extremely jubilant with the goal ... er, that is except for robotic Vicki B. who, in totes unswish manner, looked as if she couldn't be bothered with all of that cheering and smiling. She did managed to provide some stiff handed golf claps, tho:

Weeks after their much-hyped arrival in the US, with his debut delayed due to a pesky ankle injury, David Beckham finally scored for team LA Galaxy - but wife Victoria remained strangely unmoved. A bored-looking Victoria clapped politely as David and his teammates wildly celebrated his first goal for the Los Angeles Major League Soccer Team which helped secure their place in the SuperLiga final. Victoria's blank reaction was in stark contrast to son Brooklyn, who grabbed hold of a pal to celebrate in typical football fanatic fashion. Maybe Posh doesn't find football as 'major' as the other aspects of her new life in Los Angeles ... It was the first time David had been included in the starting line-up since the Beckhams much-hyped move to America. He had played just 37 minutes in two previous games since he joined the Major League Soccer team on July 13 because of a nagging left ankle injury ... The 32-year-old England midfielder, who was named captain for the match, curled home a trademark free-kick after 28 minutes to give the Galaxy the lead. Wearing his number 23 shirt, David was greeted with a roar from the crowd at the Home Depot Centre in Carson, California, as he took to the pitch. Maybe someone forgot to plug her in or something. You'd think she could at least smile a bit for Goldenballs. Something does not compute ... I think it's time for a tune up. [Source]

Speaking of tune ups, Vicki B. is re-releasing her latest book, That Extra Half Inch, here in the US with a new cover photo:

I never bought Posh as an author so I passed on reading this book the first time it was released in the UK ... now that it's in paperback (ie. cheaper) format, I might give it a go. I'm not sure what Vicki B. knows about half inches (please God, let it have nothing to do with David Beckham in any way, shape or form) but I guess I now find myself more intrigued. [Source]

Nicole Richie, our latest pregs Hollywood "It" Girl, is taking New York City by storm this week ... popping up all over the place ... either for lunch, for a quick trip to the gym or to the Justin Timberlake concert at Madison Square Garden ... she's doing it all. Here are a few pics:

Yeah, she ain't lettin' her condition slow her down by any means ... in fact, this is the most active we've seen her in a long time. It looks like the baby bump is coming along nicely ... I love how all the photogs are trying to make sure they get a sideways pic of her every time she goes out. [Source]

R. Kelly is ready to be Trapped In A Closet again and I couldn't be more thrilled. Here are pics of R. Kelly at the IFC Center in NYC, NY last night for the premiere of Chapters 13-22 of his insanely awesome Trapped In A Closet video series:

When Trapped In A Closet first came out, I never dreamed that we, as an audience, would even get 12 installments of the ridiculous yet incredibly entertaining series. Now that R. Kelly is coming back with another 10 eps ... well, words can really explain my glee. I listen to the Trapped In A Closet songs from time to time and just marvel at the man's artistry. If R. Kelly decides to stay in the Closet for the rest of his career ... I'm down. That shizz is funny as hell! [Source]

Prince's residency in London appears to be going well and the man appears to be loving everything about life these days ... here is a pimpin' pic of Prince makin' his way to the afterparty for the premiere of The Bourne Ultimatum with his ladies Vanity & Appolonia Wendy & Lisa Diamond & Pearl The Twinz:

The Daily Mail has uncovered the identities of the mysterious Twinz and lays out the details of their humble beginnings as entertainers: Despite standing just 5ft2ins high, the flamboyant American singer has been dating stunning identical twins during his current stay in London. The sisters act as his backing singers but refuse to let on their real identities, instead demanding to be known as simply 'Twinz'. However the Mail has learnt that the sultry duo, are a lot less mysterious than all that - and indeed rather more like the Cheeky Girls than they may wish to admit. They are Maya and Nandy McClean and started out as cruise ship entertainers and reality TV stars from Sydney, Australia. Their first jobs in showbusiness were to work as dancers on board the Sovereign of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, in 2003. Both went on to audition for Australian Idol 2, though sadly only Maya got picked for the show. Maya was one of 30 finalists but pulled out so that she could pursue a career with her sister - their first job together being in the Sydney production of The Lion King ... {T]hey speak as rarely as the Purple One too. Though they did let on: "Prince is a huge fan of ours. He is someone who likes to have beautiful women around him. He is a cool cat, always dressed to impress. And he keeps us laughing all the time." Ha! I love it. See, dreams do come true ... one day you're performing on a cruise ship and the next your dancing backup for Prince. That's pretty hot. [Source]

Ben Affleck celebrated his 35th birthday yesterday in quiet fashion ... with his lovely wife Jennifer Garner and his beautiful daughter Violet:

I find Ben so much more likeable as a family man. He kinda bugged me when he was dating Jennifer Lopez but since he's found true love with Jen #2, he has really started to grow on me. It looks like he had a great birthday yesterday with his family :) [Source]

You know ... for the life of me ... I really have a hard time understanding where all those strange rumors about Clay Aiken come from ...

... I mean, if THIS video of the boi doing his own rendition of SexyBack doesn't just speak volumes about him as a person, then I don't know what does. [Source via ONTD!]

Holy Cow! It appears that the name of God has decided to mysteriously appear on a piece of eggplant and the face of Jesus has decided to appear in a oil smear on concrete so that the lucky owners of these things could make money at auction. Usually, it's the Virgin Mary who is doing this sort of mysterious appearing but it was nice of Her to let the other Holy ones get in on the action ... behold:

A married couple say they have found God - in an aubergine. Felicia Teske and husband Paul were about to fry the vegetable for dinner. But when she sliced it up she noticed the seeds inside one segment appeared to spell out the word "GOD". Husband Paul Teske said: "It's definitely there. It has all been a pretty strange experience." He added: "We haven't altered it at all. You don't need to use your imagination to see it." He said he thought it might be a sign - because his office manager wife, a practicing Catholic, is about to change jobs. Paul, 67, told a local newspaper: "If she would have cut it one way or the other, it may not have spelled that [GOD] out." Felicia said: "It was the only slice that looked like that" ... The couple, from Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, now plans to sell the aubergine - known as an eggplant in the States - on Internet auction site eBay ... It is currently being stored in a zipped-lock plastic bag to keep it fresh. Meanwhile: An oil stain on a garage floor that vaguely resembles the face of Jesus has fetched more than £750 in an online auction. Deb Serio found the image on her garage floor in Forest, Virginia, and sold it on eBay for $1,525.69, reports the Daily Telegraph. Ms Serio, a high school teacher, said she was surprised anyone wanted to buy the oily slab of concrete. "I really never thought I'd get any (money), to be honest," she said. She received hundreds of messages from around the world from people interested in the "smudge of Christ". The family has now hired a contractor to remove the section of concrete ... An active Lutheran, Ms Serio considers the smudge a slightly odd occurrence, rather than a divine sign or miracle. "There are some people who need this kind of thing to sort of start them on their faith journey. I don't," she said. "That's why I don't mind parting with it." As if we needed further proof that God (and his agents) works in mysterious ways. The Virgin Mary & Jesus toasts aren't new ... but their pictures were required to make the Trinity Joke work :D [Source, Source]

And finally, Heroes co-stars Milo Ventimiglia and Zachary Quinto are featured in the new issue of Zink magazine which will hit newsstands on August 20 ... here are the pics from each of their photospreads:

Milo looks hawt, natch, but I think I like Zachary's pics better. He looks great as one of the crazed drogues from A Clockwork Orange. These are deff pics that I'd want hardcopies of which is why I'll be picking up a copy of Zink when it comes out next week. After all ... Zink is the new Mag! [Source]

Les News:
Yesterday was a very chill, very fun day. I met up for an interview yesterday afternoon at The Abbey before I paid a little visit to The Grove. I'm pretty sure I saw Ryan Gosling there with a friend ... he was rockin' a full beard and a knit cap -- in the 90+ degree weather. So LA. Afterwards, I met up with Mike, Kirsten, Darion and his friends Angi, Julie, Vincent for a quick bit to eat at a place called Paco's Tacos. After dinner, we grabbed some dessert and exchanged gifts that were brought back for one another from our most recent trips. I have always wanted a real boomerang from Australia but since I didn't know any Aussies (and since I've yet to the land of Oz) I was boomerangless ... but no longer:

Kirsten brought me back my own boomerang :) I brought her back a Detroit Tiger from Comerica Park and we each brought back other little souvenirs for Darion and Mike. The last pic just features Angi and her scary stalker eyes because, well, why not :)

I'm not sure ... but tonight might turn out to be a Tiger Heat night. I think I might want to go if I can find some hot beyotchs to come with ... wish me luck. And with that ... I am out.
