This Is How We Roll

Since Britney Spears went to all the trubs of having her lips injected earlier this week (which, incidentally, led to the accidental hit and run of a hapless TMZ videographer), I feel it is my solemn duty to share with y'all the fruits of her labor. Britney wasn't all that interested in showing off her super-swollen lips on the day that she went in for the procedure but now that a couple of days have passed and the swelling has gone down considerably, here is how she looks now:

You know ... they look good. She doesn't have that fish-mouth look that Jessica Simpson usually rocks ... they actually look pretty normal. One would hardly suspect that her lips are filled with poison had we not seen those pics of her super-swollen lips on the day she got her injections. [Source]

The promo machine for Britney's new album Blackout is kicking into full gear now that we're just a little over a week away from its release. The first TV spot promoting the album has been released (you can see it online HERE) and her record company has released this Blackout widget thing that previews three songs from the album, including the amazing songs Radar and Piece of Me:

I can't help myself ... despite all the crazy shizz going on in the girl's life, I cannot quell the excitement I have for this new album. I've been able to preview the tracks off the album and, I'm telling you, it's a really hot album. Under normal circumstances (ie. sans all the insanely crazy drama that has been going on in Britney's life for the past couple of years now) this album would absolutely debut at #1 and would come screaming out of the starting line, selling millions of albums right off the bat. There is a chance that the album may still debut at #1 upon its release but there is no guarantee. I'm convinced that the album will still be a hit ... the main concern is how much of a hit and how long will the album survive with all of Brit's personal drama going on at the same time. Even still ... I am so excited for the album's official release. I'm pretty sure most people are going to love it ... including the haters.

JK Rowling dropped a bit of a bomb at a Q&A session held in New York City where she played host to one thousand grand prize winners (and their guests) of the Scholastic's Open Book Tour Sweepstakes at Carnegie Hall last night. Fans of the Harry Potter book series who have read the final book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows know that JK ended the series with an epilogue that revealed what happens in the future lives of some of the main characters. Since the final book's release, JK has been giving more information concerning the lives and futures of the other characters that she didn't write about in the book. At last night's Q&A, JK revealed a very important part of Hogwart's Headmaster Albus Dumbledore's life that had never been previously discussed ... his sexuality. Here is a quick transcript from last night's Q&A:

[T]he biggest revelation of the night came when Jo revealed to her audience the fact that Albus Dumbledore is gay and had fallen in love with fellow wizard and friend, Gellert Grindelwald. This elicited a huge reaction and prolonged ovation. So much so, it promoted Jo to say, "If I had known this would have made you this happy, I would have told you years ago."

The question was: Did Dumbledore, who believed in the prevailing power of love, ever fall in love himself?

JKR: "My truthful answer to you ... I always thought of Dumbledore as gay [ovation]. Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was ... [D]o we say it excused Dumbledore a little more because falling in love can blind us to an extent but he met someone as brilliant as he was and, rather like Bellatrix he was very drawn to this brilliant person, and horribly, terribly let down by him. Yeah, that's how I always saw Dumbledore. In fact, recently I was in a script read through for the sixth film and they had Dumbledore saying a line to Harry early in the script saying I knew a girl once, whose hair ... [laughter]. I had to write a little note in the margin and slide it along to the scriptwriter, 'Dumbledore's gay!' [laughter]. If I'd known it would make you so happy, I would have announced it years ago!"

Jo also said after revelation: "I had to give you something to talk about for the next 10 years ... Just imagine the fan fiction now."

To say that I am absolutely thrilled at this news would be an extreme understatement. For JK Rowling to put out this information that will, essentially, change the overriding perspective of the entire series in such a way is very brave indeed. [Source]

For Albus Dumbledore's sexuality to be a non-issue thruout the series seems so wholly natural to me that I cannot find fault with it. Except for a few of the Hogwart's staff (like Severus Snape, who was in love with Harry Potter's mother Lily Evans and Hagrid who briefly dated that giantess), JK never really talked about the sexualities of most of the professors at all. Do we know the sexuality of Minerva McGonagall, Pomona Sprout or Dolores Jane Umbridge? Some may say that JK could have made a much greater impact had she been explicit in revealing this info within the text of the books but I don't know that it was really necessary ... besides there will always people who find fault with anything that anyone says or does. I am just so emboldened in the knowledge that, arguably, the most intelligent, honorable and respected character of the entire series -- who very ably shaped the heroic characters of these beloved book characters -- was a gay man:

If this knowledge can help gay kids out there who are fans of the book in that they can see some part of who they are in the context of this amazing children's book series, then I say JK Rowling should be absolutely adored. I think it's very hard for non-gays to understand the importance for young gays to be able to see that who they are is given validity in this way. The huge effect that this may have on young gays is not lost on me. JK Rowling deserves much props for making this revelation ... and she is going to need a lot of support from the coming maelstrom of hatred that is bound to come her way. Much love goes out to Pink reader Margo for being the first person to give me the head's up on this story last night ... and thank the many of you who have been happily sending in the links all morning.

Alright, let's move on ... Spike TV held its annual Scream Awards at the Greek Theater here in LA last night in order to honor, it its own way, achievements in sci-fi, horror, comics and fantasy. Here are a few pics from the red carpet last night:

Our fave Heroes were in the building along with a pretty impressive array of celebs and musicians. The show will air on Spike this coming Tuesday night at 10pm and promises to be the event you won't want to miss. I know I'll be tuning in to see Milo Ventimiglia up on that stage :) [Source]

On the other side of the pond, Nickelodeon held the UK version of the Kids' Choice Awards in London where it seems the man-on-boy action was pretty hot and heavy. Here are a few pics from last night's show ... in the first two pics you can see comedian David Walliams giving a couple of pretty passionate kisses to Harry Judd and Tom Fletcher of the band McFly after he was presented with the role model of the year award (the coveted I Wannabe Award):

I also threw in a couple pics of Harry Potter's Emma Watson as well just because she looked pretty great in those boots and I bet she got a kick out of seein' the McFly boys get some action on that stage. I know I did :) [Source]

In other man-on-boy lip locking action, here are a couple of sweet pics of fashion designer Marc Jacobs smoochin' with his on-again, off-again, apparently on-again boyfriend Jason Preston in front of the the Mercer hotel in New York City yesterday afternoon:

Okay ... altogether now ... AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! [Source]

Anderson Cooper brought out the big guns (and a 2 sizes too small shirt) to a screening for his new environmental series called Planet in Peril at the IFC Center in NYC this week ... here are a couple of pics:

You know, I'm not used to seeing Anderson Cooper look so gruff ... he looks all mean and stuff and those big, burly arms give him an air of roughness. I think I like it. [Source]

Jennifer Lopez and hubby Darc Anthony brought their En Concierto tour to the Staples Center here in LA last night and ended up adding to the speculation that an official announcement concerning J. Lo's pregsness might be imminent (as if her bulging stomach weren't enough). The zombie-man chose a very suspicious song to serenade his lady love, the lyrics of which seem to allude to the state of her condition:

Marc Anthony raised eyebrows Friday night when he made a special song dedication to wife Jennifer Lopez at their Los Angeles concert. "It's a real personal song," Anthony said before belting out Journey's "Faithfully" inside a packed Staples Center. "This song has a whole new significance." It was when he sang the song's lyrics "They say that the road ain't no place to start a family" that concert goers erupted in cheers. He noted to fans that the song had "quite a special significance," dedicating it to the couple's "friends" in the audience as well. After Anthony's hour-long set (featuring music from the couple's film "El Cantante"), Lopez, 38, hit the stage asking fans "How are you, L.A.?" and later told the crowd "This is such a special time." Lopez was clearly showing an expanding belly, continuing to wear her loose-fitting outfits on stage. She also wore noticeably low-heeled boots during the heavier dance routines ... "She's so pregnant!" one concert goer said as they exited the Staples Center. Another fan tells PEOPLE there was no mistaking "she had a tummy." "She wasn't moving that much," said fan Monica Hathaway, 35, from La Palma, Calif. "I'm a mother of three, I know, she's pregnant!" But as Anthony and Lopez keep everyone guessing, one thing is certain: Anthony only has eyes for his wife. Standing at one end of the stage during their last song together, Anthony gazed at Lopez and said, "She's just fine." It was widely speculated that J. Lo was going to make an official announcement on her previous concert stop in NYC -- which never happened. This seems about as close an official announcement as we're going to get from the concert stage. Can I just say that choosing a Journey song in this manner just rocks balls? I'm not the biggest Marc Anthony fan (sic) but homie won my respect with this stunt. [Source]

It seems that chest infection or not, Victoria Beckham isn't going to let anything stand in the way of the work she has to do for the much anticipated Spice Girls reunion. Here is a pic of Vicki B. and her scary cohort Melanie Brown upon their arrival in London yesterday -- the Spices are scheduled to shoot their new music video this weekend:

Wow! Much props goes out to the ladies' stylists ... they both look really great. Sure Posh still looks like a walking mannequin but that outfit draped on her frail body is really cute. Mel B. looks really hot in those boots. I'm anxious to see how the music video will turn out ... it's been a long time since the ladies shot a video together ... I guess we'll soon know if they checked their egos at the door. [Source]

Skye Sweetnam is about to unleash her new album Sound Soldier on October 30th in Canada and she has *just* released a new video for her song Music is my Boyfriend ... and here it is:

I will have you know that this faboo video was made entirely by Skye herself and gives us a great taste of the new sound on her new album. I will have you know that the lovely Miss Sweetnam wanted the Pink is the new Blog readers to be among the first peeps to see this new video ... I hope y'all enjoy!! [Source]

And finally, it's time for this week's batch of photos sent in by Pink is the new Blog readers -- Amanda sends in an adorable photo of her son on his one month birthday -- Jason sends in a pic with his friend as they celebrated his 15th birthday recently -- Mary and her friend from Virginia Tech are showin' off their Hokie Pride -- Lauren sends in a pic from her 22nd birthday part which was themed, Come as your favorite Britney -- Lindsey, a fellow Unversity of Oklahoma Sooner, sends in a pic from 13,500 feet on her first skydive as she hurtled her way to Earth ... she tells me I have to give her friend Beau, another OU Sooner, a shout-out for introducing her to the blog:

Thank you all so much for all the amazing photos. I can never tell which sort of pics are my faves ... I like the birthday ones and I like the party ones and I really like the ones that come from all reaches of the globe. Again, I must thank you all for taking the time to make Pink is the new Blog a part of your fun celebrations ... I heart you all! xoxo

Les News:
Last night was one of the more fun nights in recent memory for me. I met up with Adriana, who I hadn't seen in ages, for a night of roller-skating and we were met by my friend Mike for a great sushi dinner beforehand. My other friend Michael came along for the roller-skating, even tho his bum knee kept him off the wheels, and a great time was had by all. We went out to the Moonlight Roller Rink in Glendale, CA and had the best time ever:

I was very proud of myself ... I managed to break in my new rollerskates without having to eat floor by wiping out despite the fact that I hadn't been on rollerskates in over 2 years. Mike hadn't been on rollerskates since elementary school and he did a really great job ... I was very impressed.

After skating, we made our way to Akbar for drinks and dancing where we ran into my friend David and were met by Adriana's new man friend Mike (yes, there are a lot of Mikes around here). The night turned into a late one and one of us (not me) ended up meeting a new person ... who was kind enough to give them a ride home ... I've yet to get the deets but I hope everything turned out well in the end ;)

Tonight I'm meeting up with Darion and Kirsten for a comedy show featuring Mary Lynn Rajskub from 24 ... which I'm very excited about. I hope y'all are having a great weekend ... I'm out :)
