Rockin' Around

Yesterday, Sunday December 2, 2007, Britney Spears crossed the mid-20s mark as she celebrated another year of successful living. She is but a hop, skip and a jump away from plunging headlong into her 30s ... and then who knows what else from that point on. Her life isn't quite over just yet (depending on how successfully she'll be able to navigate the coming year ... but that is something to ponder at a later date) and altho Britters celebrated the first, wee, hours of her 26th birthday with her cavalcade of hangers-on (ie. Cousin Ali Sims, Sam Lufti and Paris Hilton ... among others) she did manage to tidy herself up a bit (I think) so that she could spend her birthday afternoon with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James. Click HERE to see pics of Brit with the boys. At least she finally had the sense to spend the special day with her kids instead of choosing to sleep off the effects of the night before. I would imagine that spending quality time is the best birthday gift she could hope for this year ... surely it beats the hell out of all those Patron shots she might've enjoyed the night before. [Source]

Speaking of "gifts", the way I understand it ... there is an allegation that the very fluffy coat that Brit Brit wore out on Saturday night to the Scandinavian Mansion of Style event (aka her unofficial birthday party) wasn't actually given to her so much as it was taken by her ... at least, that is what I'm told by Pink reader Malin the text of THIS article claims:

Malin writes: According to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Britney stole that white coat, along with four just like it for her friends!

Here is the text from the Swedish article: Sharon Stone höll hov, Paris Hilton kollade in design och Britney Spears firade födelsedagen på ett skandinaviskt pr-party. Hahahahaha ... obvs, I have no idea what the article says exactly but my pitiful knowledge of German has allowed me to decipher a few words ... none of which really tell me all that much. But, it sounds like the article alleges that Britney wasn't supposed to keep the jacket(s) and then she and her friends walked off with them. It sounds plausible ... but if some kind Pink reader who is fluent in Swedish could confirm, I'd be much obliged :) [Source, thanks Malin]

UPDATE: Pink readers Karolina and Craig provide this translation of the Swedish article: Sharon Stone hosted, Paris Hilton checked out design and Britney Spears celebrated her birthday at a Scandinavian PR-party. She got herself presents - she took leather jackets to the value of 180 000 swedish crowns (28 000 USD). As the only Swedish media, the newspaper Aftonbladet witnessed her bold coup. At midnight she got a chocolate cake with her name on it. While the newly 26 year old looked moved, the 400 invited guests sang happy birthday. That the organizers had forgotten tableware didn't prevent the single mother of two, she ate the cake with her hands. This is PR that goes international said the danish Peter Forchhammer. Together with Klaus Hjelmbak he has started Scandinavian style mansion - a new project to make pr for Scandinavian design in Hollywood. They couldn't have wished for a better start. Stone hosted the event while Paris, without the Swedish Alexander Väggö von Zweigbergk, was full of expectation. "I'm here to party and to get cool presents", Paris said. In the marble foyer, in front of Barito Design she bumped in to her former best friend Britney. Paris said a lukewarm hello and Britney responded with also a lukewarm hello and then fled to Berglund of Copenhagen's clothes. The pop star liked a white coat with fringe worth 45 000 swedish crowns (7000 USD). In front of the designer Katja Berglund, Britney also took clothes for her friends. Sharon Stone bought a jacket. Britney took four without paying said the stunned designer. She got to see it as presents for the birthday girl. Um ... so there you go.

Last night Hollywood was rocked by the Movies Rock live concert event which was held at the Kodak Theater and was presented by Conde Nast Media Group. Movies Rock is described as a world-premiere celebration of marquee moments in music and film with today's top stage and screen stars ... which essentially means that some of our fave performers performing live renditions of some of the most iconic songs in film. I was very fortunate enough to attend last night's event and will offer my personal deets at the end of this post. Here are a few pics from the Movies Rock red green carpet:

Right off the bat, I was extremely impressed by the number of celebs who came out for the event. Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Fergie, Carrie Underwood and more performed some of the most beloved songs from some of the world's favorite movies. It was really a stellar event. [Source]

Here are a few pics from the show itself:

Jennifer Lopez looked radiant last night ... she came on stage twice to do intros but for the most part stayed in her seat for the entire show. While many of the night's performances received standing ovations, she remained seated after all of them (including hubby Marc Anthony's performance) except for composer John Williams. Everyone in the Kodak Theater stood up for him after his medley performance. During commercial breaks and thruout the night, everyone made sure to go over to J. Lo to say hello and kiss her hand ... she was deffo holding court last night. The performances, man, they were all amazing. Darion and I had a hard time picking our favorite one ... they were all so good, very inventive (like Fergie's) and sometimes touching (Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson). The only stinker of the night came from Marc Anthony (surprise, surprise) whose rendition of Mrs. Robinson made him sound like a really bad wedding singer. I was so impressed with last night's event ... I went in not knowing what to expect and came out loving every minute of it. Movies Rock will air this coming Friday night on CBS at 9pm. I highly suggest that all you movie music fans tune in ... I promise, y'all are gonna love the performances. [Source]

The other really big event from last night was the official kick-off of the 10-years in the making Spice Girls Reunion Tour which opened in Vancouver, British Columbia. Many Pink readers sent in their pictures from last night's show along with their (sometimes very long and detailed) reviews. Here are a few pics from last night's show from Pink readers Erin, Tony, Karen and Brie:

I really tried to stay away from any info but I just couldn't help myself ... these pics don't spoil anything so much as give us a taste of what's to come. Now I'm more excited about seeing the show myself this week :) Pink reader Alexandra confirms that David Beckham did attend last night's show in Vancouver, despite being banned from the show by his wife Vicki B. Alex writes: i was at the spice girls concert tonight in van and i just wanted to let you know that david beckham was definitely there. i was way way way up in the nosebleeds and there was a group of girls screaming and i figured out why when the crowd moved. david beckham and his sons were sitting in the owners box in the section next to me! he was wearing a suit (looking good, of course), and his sons were all wearing black tshirts with 'posh' across the front. it was hard to concentrate on the concert when i had such a great view of beckham! the concert itself was SO much fun. lots of dancing and costume changes. they played all the old favourites, no one in the whole place was sitting down. the backup dancers were great. each of the girls does a thing on their own and victoria makes fun of her celebrity status - i was very impressed. hope you have as much fun in LA as i did tonight! Love it! I knew that he'd be there ... and I know that he'll be at the 2 LA shows this week ... perhaps I'll have my own run-in with his Becksness too :) Pink reader Stephanie tells me that there was NO LIP SYNCING at all during the show, mainly (she says) because Vicki B. left all the singing to the other girls. Hmmm ... I can't wait to hear/see this for myself. Thank you all so much for sending in your pics and reports!!!! [thanks Tony, Karen, Brie and Alexandra]

In NYC last night, Madonna joined her hunky hubby Guy Ritchie at a premiere screening of his new movie Revolver at the Tribeca Grand Hotel. They were joined by "fashion icon" Sarah Jessica Parker, Steve Buscemi and others ... here are a few pics from the red carpet last night:

I'm so on the fence regarding Guy Ritchie movies because they usually suck. I loved Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch but everything else that he's done (that I've seen) has been reallllly not so good (Swept Away anyone?). I'm hopeful that Revolver will be a return to his successful movie-making. Madge looked great ... I love this do. I'm bummed that SJP had to skin the Snuffleupagus from Sesame Street just to make a fur coat :( She is so mean. [Source]

Elsewhere in NYC, The Golden Compass had its NYC premiere at the Ziegfield Theatre where Eva Green, Dakota Blue Richards, Sam Elliot and others came out for the affair ... here are a few pics:

I am SOOO bummed that I missed the sneak preview showing of The Golden Compass this past Saturday night (which I didn't find out about until I was already on my way with Darion, Kirsten and Eric to see Beowulf in IMAX 3D) but at least I still have the books to keep me entertained until I'm able to see the movie for myself. I'm mid way thru The Amber Spyglass, Book III of His Dark Materials and I'M SOOO LOVING IT! I cannot stress enough that all y'all should read these books. I am enjoying them as much if not a wee bit more than the Harry Potter books. The story is much more complex and, I'd say, more adult than the Harry Potter books. They're different, in a very good way. I'll deffo be finished with this final book before I get to see The Golden Compass in theaters ... I feel like I'm racing against the clock. I can't wait. [Source]

Well now ... lookie here ... check out these pics of Jessica Simpson and her new paramour Tony Romo trying to make a sneaky exit out of the Roosevelt Hotel here in LA ... quite possibly where they have been trysting all weekend long:

Uh huh. That's all I needed to see to believe that they are officially together. Long Live Jessimo! Er, well ... at least I hope it's For a While Live Jessimo! [Source]

After Tony's secret weekend with Jessica Simpson was finished, he packed his bag and made his way to LAX airport so that he could do the flight of shame back to Dallas, TX last night:

Something tells me that Mr. Romo is gonna be racking up a lot of frequent flyer miles on the route from Dallas to LA over the coming months. [Source]

Tim Burton and his bedraggled wife Helena Bonham Carter sat down for a little press conference in London over the weekend for their new movie Sweeney Todd, which stars Johnny Depp in the title role and opens in theaters this Xmas:

I somehow doubt that the movie will be as gruesome as this press conference looked. Yikes! [Source]

Jesse Metcalfe should be happy that he is finally back in the good graces of his ex-girlfriend Nadine Coyle (who dumped him earlier this year after Jesse did a stint in rehab) but instead he's flippin' off the photogs ... and then beating them up?

Former DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star JESSE METCALFE is facing criminal charges after being accused of punching a photographer outside a London nightclub. The actor was leaving exclusive nightspot Studio Valbonne in Soho on Saturday night (01Dec07) when he reportedly launched an unprovoked attack on the snapper, leaving him with a bloody nose. The photographer involved, Rowan Lawrence, reported the incident to Charing Cross police station and is asking for charges to be brought against the 28-year-old star. Lawrence says, "He (Metcalfe) was coming out of the club and walking towards his taxi. But he kept walking past the vehicle. I was walking backwards away from him and he kept walking towards me. He then raised his fist and punched me in the face." Metcalfe, who is currently dating on-off girlfriend Nadine Coyle from Girls Aloud, spent the rest of the evening partying at the Astoria venue's famous G-A-Y event to celebrate World AIDS Day. Clearly, this is the way to not only celebrate World AIDS Day but also a great way to win friends and influence others. [Source]

Here are a few amazing outtake photos from the FHM photoshoot which featured Heroes favorites Hayden Panettiere and Masi Oka:

Damn. Even I can see that Hayden looks amazing in these pics. The girl can do no wrong these days ... even her outtake pics are stunning ... she really is the top Hollywood "It" Girl du jour. [Source via ONTD!]

Here are a few new promo pics of The Joker (and one of Batman) from the upcoming Batman sequel The Dark Knight:

These are, by far, the best pics of The Joker that we've seen thus far. My confidence is restored that Heath Leger is capable of playing a really fun Joker. I'm not really sure how I feel about the changes in Batman's costume. I need to see more ... but I think I liked it better when it was all black. [Source]

The King of Thailand is really into the color pink ... which is evident by the changes that have been made to the Thai military uniform:

THESE Thai soldiers are prepared to dye for their country – in dazzling brightly coloured uniforms. They marched through Bangkok wearing pink, red, yellow and green. The bizarre parade yesterday was to celebrate the 80th birthday of Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej – the world's longest reigning monarch. While I think it's utterly faboo that the King of Thailand is such a big fan of pink even *I* think that this might be a bit too much. Oh who am I kidding ... I love it :) [Source]

And finally ... Spirit Airlines think they're sooo cute buy coming up with a semi-controversial ad campaign and then feigning innocent ignorance of what it really means:

Spirit Airlines claims it did not know that their "MILF" promotion shared the spelling of an obscene acronym. The slang term may have been popularized in the raunchy 1999 feature film "American Pie," in which Jennifer Coolidge, inset in graphic, played the character "Stifler's Mom", an attractive, voluptuous mother who ultimately seduces a high school adversary of her son. Act fast and you too can cash in on the "MILF" promotion. The fire sale by Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Spirit Airlines promises "Many Islands, Low Fares" deals as low as $9 for future travel dates between Fort Lauderdale and the Bahamas. While the prices may be right, it's that promotional acronym that's raised eyebrows among customers and now has the company feeling "uncomfortable." Before MILF became shorthand for a Spirit Airlines promotion, the acronym hit the mainstream as an obscene descriptor of a mother considered to be sexy ... It's impossible to know exactly what percentage of Americans are familiar with the slang acronym, but Spirit Airlines maintains that the executive who authorized the MILF promotion did not know the connection. "Not at all," Juan Arbelaez, the director of communications for the company's Latin American market, told ABC News when asked whether the airline was aware of the racy implications. "We started receiving some e-mails today." Arbelaez said that Spirit's senior vice president of pricing is a British citizen who was unfamiliar with the MILF terminology and that the airline is not trying to offend customers. "The most obscene thing we've noticed," Arbelaez said, "is what other carriers have charged to fly the Caribbean before Spirit's $9 fares." The airline has no intention of pulling the promotion, which runs until midnight today, he added. Oh whatever ... I'm calling bullshizz. I have a hard time believing that the best slogan they could come up with is Many Islands Low Fares ... which just so innocently acronyms to M.I.L.F. The promo worked ... now the campaign is getting more press then it would if the acronym stood for nothing. Personally, I think it's genius ... if they can get away with it, then more power to them. LOL! [Source]

Les News:
So, last night's Movies Rock event was so much fun ... I'm so glad that I got to go and take Darion with me. We had really kick ass seats in the front row of the Mezzanine (above all the celebs) so that we had an eagle eye view of everything going on below. Here are a few pics that Darion snapped during the show:

We had no idea which performers would be doing which songs but somehow Darion and I were able to guess correctly every single performer matched up to the song they performed before they came out. I know it may not sound all that exciting to you but it was a fun game for us and we were very impressed with ourselves. I got to meet Pink reader Nancy before the show and also ran into my friends Marc Malkin, Jeremy and his boyfriend Phillip. After the show, we took some fun pics around the Hollywood and Highland complex ...

... and we both paid homage to Britney Spears's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (on her actual birthday, mind you) which is conveniently located near the Kodak Theater. Honestly, it kinda felt like we were visiting her grave. We had the best time ever ... I have to send out lots of love to Victoria for hooking me up with these amazing tickets.

And so ... I think that is all. I have a movie premiere tonight for the new movie Juno and I think that is all ... have a great day ... I'm out.
