Hayden Does Seventeen

Hayden Panettiere is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Seventeen magazine ... check it out:

Aww ... she looks so cute ... I love all the cute faces she's making. It's great that the mag chose Hayden to be on the cover of their "hair issue" cuz I've always wondered what her bed head hair looks like. Let's assume her big sexy hair on the cover is what she looks like first thing in the morning ;) [Source]

No Laughing Matter: Robin & Marsha Are Dunzo!

In sad news, the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Marsha Garces Williams, wife of Robin Williams, has filed for divorce after 19 years of wedded bliss :(

Robin Williams and Marsha Garces Williams, married in April 1989, are splitting up. Garces Williams filed a divorce petition in San Francisco on March 21, seeking to end her marriage to Williams on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. She is in her early 50s; he is 56. They married soon after Williams' divorce from Valerie Velardi, to whom he had been married for 10 years. Williams' and Garces' daughter, Zelda, was born in July of that year; their son, Cody, in 1991. Williams and Garces met while she worked as a nanny for Zachary, born in 1983 to Williams and Velardi. Garces subsequently worked as personal assistant to the comedian ... Together they also created the Windfall Foundation, a non-profit that focuses on education, health, the environment and the arts. Garces has particularly been involved with Doctors Without Borders and Seacology; Williams with the Christopher Reeve Foundation (he was Reeve's classmate at Juilliard) and Comic Relief. Their house, in Sea Cliff, was the site of a variety of big-ticket fundraising dinners and cocktail parties, but also Halloween central for neighborhood trick-or-treaters ... Garces was not at Williams' side when he was honored by the San Francisco International Film Festival last spring, and amid reports of many sightings in Marin County, where he was said to have been living, rumors of problems have been rife for months. Garces' lawyer, Robert Kaufman of Beverly Hills, would provide no information.

What a bummer. It's always unfortunate when a couple splits up but this dissolution feels even more tragic when you consider the couple were together for 19 years. I understand that Marsha is going after spousal support and custody of their son Cody. Sad. [Source]

Richie Sambora Busted For DUI

Welp, it looks like those recent stints in rehab didn't really take. TMZ is reporting that Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora was arrested for drunk driving in The Real OC of Laguna Beach, CA late last night ... here is his lovely mugshot:

TMZ has learned Richie Sambora was arrested for DUI in Laguna Beach, Calif. Law enforcement sources tell us the Bon Jovi guitarist was pulled over by the Laguna Beach PD just before 11:00 PM last night. Cops say they observed him driving erratically in a black Hummer and pulled him over. He failed numerous field sobriety tests and was detained for DUI. At the station Sambora opted to take a blood test rather than blow into a breathalyzer. Laguna Beach PD tells TMZ there's no indication of drugs. There was a female passenger in the car at the time of the arrest, but, we're told, "she's not a celebrity." Sambora was released around 4:00 AM this morning.

Paging Dr. Drew and his Celebrity Rehab. There is NO excuse for endangering the lives of others by getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Maybe a stint in the pokey will help finally sober Richie Sambora up. [Source]

The TV Guide: Over The Moon

Yesterday was my last full day here in NYC and I kept things pretty chill. David and I worked for most of the day and then we went out for a quick bite to eat at Cafe Asean in the West Village before going to see Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna) at the Angelika Theater in Soho:

I can't remember the last movie that I saw that made me cry as much as Under the Same Moon did. I wept during The Kite Runner but not as much as I did last night. I suspect the last movie that touched me in this way was The Joy Luck Club many years ago but that's a story I don't really need to get into right now. Under the Same Moon tells the tale of 9-year old Carlitos who ventures across the US/Mexico border in search of his mother who fled to the US in order to make money to send back home to him and his grandmother. When grandma dies, Carlitos takes off for the US to find his mother under the most impossible circumstances. Naturally, he meets friends along the way who help protect him and help him find his way. I'm totally serious, I cried at pretty much every point of this film. The movie really tugs at every heartstring you have and you end up leaving the theater feeling a bit emotionally exploited. It might be a bit of a spoiler to reveal that the story ends well but there has to be something to look forward to as the story progresses. The last scene in the film just hit me so strongly in the chest that I had to take a moment before I could leave the theater. People, this movie packs an emotionally wallop that cannot be denied. I knew it would be good ... the trailer really sets you up for what's in store ... but I had no idea it would be so emotional, for me at least. I would highly recommend this movie to all of my friends ... it's a movie deffo worth seeing. Forget the politics, it's all about the emotion with this film.

This evening David and I fly back to LA to spend the rest of the weekend together there. I'm looking forward to the amazing weather I hear LA has been having, tho, I really can't complain with the weather here in NYC this week. It's been really nice. I'm sure it'll be even nicer when I return next.

Sleestak Attack!!!

Here are a couple pictures of Will Ferrell shooting scenes for his new movie, the big screen adaptation of the 1974 Saturday morning TV show Land of the Lost, wherein Will plays Park Ranger Rick Marshall who, along with his two children Will and Holly, inadvertently stumble into a mysterious land populated by dinosaurs and other creatures, including the mysterious and dangerous race of Sleestaks ... check it out:

All I know is that they better do right by the character Cha-Ka because I really loved that little guy. I was a huge fan of Land of the Lost when I was little. I used to even fall for the horrid stop-animation that was used to animate the dinosaurs thinking that's what dinosaurs really looked like (thankfully Jurassic Park taught me the truth) and the Sleestaks used to scare the living hell out of me -- but now, they don't look so tough. Well, okay, they still scare me a little but that's okay, they're supposed to. I'm such a sucker for nostalgia that I have to admit, I'm curious to see how this movie turns out. I just hope that they don't make it too slapstick and too ridiculous ... I'm tired of Hollywood doing irreparable damage to my childhood memories. [Source]

Fiercity Incarnate

Mariah Carey is flaunting all the fabulousness she can muster in a new promo pic that was released this week ... check her out:

The woman is the definition of DIVA and I love it! I am so loving Touch My Body right about now ... and I can't wait to hear the rest of the album. A little bird, who was lucky enough to preview the entire album E=MC2 tells me that the album is very similar to The Emancipation of Mimi song-wise with the emphasis more on upbeat songs rather than ballads ... which is exactly what I wanted to hear. April 15 can't get here fast enough for me! [Source]

A Capital Idea

Geri Halliwell aka Ginger Spice recently made her way to our bonny shores here in the US to advocate for maternal healthcare in her role as United Nations Goodwill Ambassador ... and she posed for a few demure pics in and around our Nation's capital Washington DC:

It may not be as memorable as her trademark Spice Girl Union Jack outfit, but Geri Halliwell took a more classic approach to her role as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. Dressed in a demure Jackie 'O' style dress, with her wild Titian locks tamed, Geri showed off a decidedly First Lady style of dress - and behaviour - as she posed for photographs outside some of the US state capital's memorable landmarks. Geri, 35, appeared to have a ... relaxing time, however, smiling broadly for the promotional shots as she takes in her historic surroundings. But there was a serious side to the Spice Girl's presidential poise. Geri, whose reunion tour with her Spice pals ended recently, was in Washington last month to advocate for maternal healthcare while the group were in the capital as part of the tour ... She attended a meeting with Congressmen Jim Moran and Jim McGovern to discuss the serious health issues facing women and mothers worldwide as part of her mission on behalf of the development agency. Regarding her position as a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador, Geri has said: "Like many women, I take my right to reproductive and sexual health care for granted, but for women in the developing world, getting pregnant can mean the difference between life and death." Clearly, it's a subject close to the heart of mother of one's heart. And there's no harm in looking the part either.

All that was missing was the pillbox hat and she would've looked perfect ... but I dunno, I think a sequined dress with the US flag on the front of it would've really rocked balls instead. [Source]

It's All Relative

Now this has to be the strangest thing I've heard in a very long time ... it turns out that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are distant relatives of US presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton ... like, seriously. Brad is a distant cousin of Barack and Angelina is a distant relative of Hillary ... who is also related to Madonna. Pretty on the Outside has worked up a couple of amazing photo composites of Brangelina lookin' more like their distant relatives:

Photo credit: Pretty On The Outside

Presidential candidates don't just have star supporters – they have celebrity cousins! Researchers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society discovered that Barack Obama is distant cousins with Brad Pitt and Hillary Clinton is related to Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Alanis Morissette, and Celine Dion. Obama ... is also distantly related to six presidents, including George W. Bush. Pitt and Obama are ninth cousins, linked by Edwin Hickman, who died in Virginia in 1769, the researchers found. Clinton ... and Jolie, meanwhile, are ninth cousins, twice removed because they are both related to Jean Cusson who died in St. Sulpice, Quebec, in 1718.

Hahahahaha ... this is so odd. I mean, it makes sense that this far down the family tree we'd discover that various celebs are related to one another but to find out that Brad and Angelina are each related to the opposing Democratic candidates running for president is just really weird. Props to David from Pretty on the Outside for creating such amazing pics to go with this strange tale. [Source, Source]

Kylie Is Coming To America

Popstress Kylie Minogue was all smiles (and looking ravishing in blue, I might add) as she made her way out of her London apartment this week ... she must've been smiling because she was thinking of her upcoming promo visit to the US for the release of her latest album X, which hits stores here in the US on April 1:

Miss Kylie Minogue is scheduled to appear in an exclusive interview with Matt Lauer on NBC's Today Show next Monday March 31 and then she will be the musical guest star on ABC's Dancing With The Stars on Tuesday April 1 -- the same day her album hits stores. Kylie will be performing her single All I See on Dancing With The Stars and I couldn't be more thrilled! It has been AGES since Kylie has appeared on US TV and we've been dying to have her. Additionally, Kylie will be guesting on The Ellen DeGeneres Show as well next week (complete with a performance) and her ep will air on April 3. Kylie is really hitting all the important shows this time around ... I really hope it helps with the album promo here in the States. The US really needs more Kylie Minogue ... I'm glad that we're finally gettin' some. [Source]

A Madonna Club Tour In The Works?

As the release date for Madonna's new album Hard Candy approaches, I'm hearing that she is planning on putting on a few warm-up promo concerts to whip up hype surrounding the album's release ... thus far, I'm hearing that she is planning on doing small club shows in NYC, London and Paris:

This information has not been officially released by Madonna's record label (yet) but I understand the tentative dates for these club shows are April 28 in NYC, May 6 in Paris and May 10 in London. Who knows whether or not any of this will come to fruition (or if any other cities will be added to the bill ... like LA) but these dates do correspond with media appearances she might have scheduled in these cities and I think this little promo tour is worth mentioning just in case. Maddy will be doing a lot of promo for this new album, I think these shows have a real chance of happening. [thanks Kevin]

Goin' It Alone

Pink reader Francesca was in the hiz at The Roxy nightclub on the Sunset Strip in LA this week for one of the first solo concerts of former Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean. Here are a few of Francesca's pics that she sent in for sharing and her short write-up from the show:

Hey! Just wanted to let you know [that AJ put on] a GREAT show!!! He came out to the line of fans outside The Roxy before the show and took pictures with practically everyone! (Myself included!!) He was so nice! He talked to all of us while signing autographs and it was hilarious because a Star Line Tour Bus went by and stopped in front of the venue seeing all these flashes and crowds of people. The people inside the bus were screaming banging on the windows and taking pictures. When we got inside all of his friends and family were in the seated area. His songs were great and his heart was in every song :) I attached a pic of me and him and some performance pics as well as a picture of JC Chasez who was there as well! He was flirting with the girl in the blue all night!

Well now ... JC Chasez was in the hiz to support his boyband compatriot and he showed up sans Chace Crawford ... interesting. I'm not sure who the girl in blue is but I highly doubt she'll be able to come between JC and Chace ;) But anyways, I'm glad to know that AJ's show went off without a hitch ... to be honest, I'm surprised he didn't do this solo thing years ago. He was always the most avant garde of the BSBs and I figured he'd make a break from the boyband scene sooner rather than later. It remains to be seen what kind of success he might have with his solo outing (I don't think he'll reach Justin Timberlake proportions but I hope he does better than Nick Carter did) but he seems to be off to a pretty good start thus far. [thanks Francesca]

UPDATE: Pink reader Amy remnds me that AJ did do a solo thing before under the alter ego Johnny No Name. Um, yeah. I had forgotten all about that ... which is why I hope this time around he's a bit more successful.

Cap-italizing On The Moment

Today is the big day that David Beckham will go after the 100th cap of his career in a friendly match between the English national team (which seems to have recalled Becks just for the occasion) and the French national team. Becks contends that attaining his 100th cap will not mark the end of his career, it will only mark a new beginning. The English manager seems to agree ... he's already talking about the possibility that Becks might be recalled to join the team again for the 2010 World Cup ... but first things first. Here are a couple pics of Becks warming up for a training session on Monday and then a few pics from a press conference held yesterday:

David Beckham is hopeful his 100th international appearance for England is the start of a new phase. Beckham, the former England captain, will play against France on Wednesday after being recalled by coach Fabio Capello. Beckham would become just the fifth Englishman to reach that milestone. "As much as I'm honored to be here, I want it to carry on," Beckham said Monday. "It doesn't stop here for me. It's not about 'Have your 100th game and then retire.' It's about carrying on trying to play well for my country." Beckham sat out Capello's debut win over Switzerland last month because the coach ruled that he wasn't fit enough during the Major League Soccer offseason. He's been playing preseason exhibitions for the Los Angeles Galaxy. Beckham would move within 25 appearances of the record set by England goalkeeper Peter Shilton. Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore and Billy Wright are the other former England players to have reached the century milestone. Even if this match at Stade de France proves to be his last, Beckham will be happy. "I never thought a year ago or two years ago that I would make 95 caps, never mind 100," Beckham said. "I'm honored that I'm making, hopefully, my 100th appearance in an England shirt, but I'm also honored to be doing it against one of the best teams in the world."

English manager Capello contends that he did not recall Becks to play in today's game merely for Becks to attempt his 100th cap, he contends that David Beckham will be a great asset to the team ... and that he might even bring him back in 2 years time for the World Cup:

England manager Fabio Capello has brought David Beckham back onto his team and it's nothing to do with the star reaching 100 appearances. He believes that the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder might well be wearing the same white shirt at the 2010 World Cup. "The David Beckham I know can certainly last and get to 2010 if he carries on training and working hard," said Capello, who has recalled Beckham for Wednesday's friendly against France. "I know David Beckham and what he can give me, and I think he can make the difference in some respects. I know what he can give to a team. As for the future, we will have to see. Nobody knows what the future holds." Headed for his 33rd birthday in May, Beckham knows his time as an England player has to be running out after more than a decade. But the fact that Capello is happy to recall him and then talk about the star playing in his fourth World Cup gives the Galaxy player plenty of hope for the future. "I've managed him previously and he's always been a very good professional," said Capello, who still speaks in Italian even though it's clear he understands questions in English. "Only people who are so professional can last and be at the top for so long" ... "He will play a part," Capello told reporters at England's team hotel in downtown Paris on Tuesday. "It would have been very cruel of me to make him come all the way from the U.S. and not play him."

Well, I dunno about any of this World Cup biz, all I know is that Becks must be under incredible pressure (prolly from himself) to perform today. He is going to need all the support that he can get ... [Source, Source]

... which is why his loving family have made the trek to Europe to be in the stands to lend their support today. Here are pics of Vicki B. and the Beckham boys Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz as they arrived in London this week ... and a couple pics of VB rockin' a pair of hawt skin-tight rubber leggings:

Ack ... I know ... I normally hate leggings but these PVC things actually look pretty good on VB. So kill me, I have a fondness for rubber ;) At any rate, I'm sure the entire Beckham brood will be very happy to cheer on daddy Becks in today's game.

Here are a few pics of Becks and the English team arriving in Paris, France yesterday ahead of the big game today:

And the pressure mounts. Win or lose, I really hope that Becks achieves his goal today ... it would be the perfect venue for him to reach his 100th cap. I have no doubt that he will be able to reach the milestone at some point but wouldn't it be lovely if he was able to take care of biz today in the perfect setting at the right time? Good luck, Becks ... I'll keep my fingers crossed.

You Want A Piece Of Her ... Wardrobe?

SeenOn.com is sponsoring an online auction of pieces from Britney Spears's wardrobe that she wore in this week's episode of CBS's How I Met Your Mother. Altho Britters went thru 8 costume changes in the course of her 4 minutes of screentime, there are 6 pieces up for auction with the proceeds going to the Natural Resources Defense Council. Here are pics of the items up for auction:

She was on screen for less than four minutes, but Britney Spears managed an impressive eight costume changes during her highly anticipated television return. The troubled pop star polished up her act for her guest spot on sitcom How I Met Your Mother ... The show's stylists banished her personal wardrobe of scuffed knee-high boots, ripped fishnet stockings, cut-off denim hotpants and see-though tops, in favour of a more demure, feminine look. And now six items worn by the star during the show are going under the hammer for charity on auction site seenon.com, with her crème Nanette Lepore cardigan with blue beaded flowers leading the bidding at US$3,001.00 with still five days to go. More than 10 million viewers tuned in to watch the star, drawing the show's highest-ever ratings. She played a love-struck receptionist in a tattoo-removal clinic who falls for the main character Ted.

Each of the six items up for auction can be viewed and bid on HERE. I fully expect that each of these items will fetch a pretty penny for the NRDC ... if you consider that Britney's guest starring spot won the sitcom its highest ratings ever in addition to the high demand that her wardrobe is garnering in this auction, well, I think it's safe to say that Britney's popularity (even tho it may have waned a bit in recent months) is back on track. I would expect nothing less from our dear Britney. [Source]
