Down For The Count

Lawdy, lawdy ... there ain't much going on in the world of celebs these days. My guess is folks gorged themselves to near death on Thanksgiving and have gone into hibernation mode for the weekend. Honestly, things tend to get real quiet as the end of the year approaches but we do what we can with what we've got and we make it work! Okay, pretend I did not just write that ... let's get to it ...

In somewhat surprising break-up news, Linda Hogan (whose real name is Linda Marie Bollea) who is married to the famed wrestler Hulk Hogan (whose real name is Terry Gene Bollea) has decided that she no longer wants to be married to the Hulkamaniac after 24 years. News broke yesterday that Linda filed divorce papers on the Hulkster this past Tuesday (just in time for Thanksgiving) ... and poor Hulk Hogan didn't even know it until a newspaper called him for comment. Yikes:

Maybe Hulk Hogan doesn't know best – after 24 years of marriage, his wife, Linda Marie Bollea, has filed for divorce. Bollea, 46, filed divorce papers Tuesday in Pinellas County, records show. She has been married to Terry Gene Bollea, 53, more famously known as Hulk Hogan, since 1983 and the couple has two children, Brooke, 19, and Nick, 17. Word of the split was first reported by WTVT, the Fox affiliate in Tampa. According to the St. Petersburg Times, a Times reporter reportedly broke the news to Hogan on Friday night. He thanked the reporter for the "great information" then called back five minutes later to say, "I'm kind of shocked. You caught me off-guard. My wife has been in California for about three weeks. ... Holy smokes. Wow, you just knocked the bottom out of me. ... I just pulled over to the side of the road for five minutes to find out what was going on here." I understand some of the Hogans' marital woes played out on screen during the last season of Hogan Knows Best, the VH1 reality show that the family has been doing for the past few years. Honestly, I try to stay away from the show as much as possible unless there is nothing (and I mean nothing) else on TV to watch so I was unaware that they were even having marital problems. I would imagine that the stress on the family caused by the near-fatal automobile accident that their son Nick Hogan was involved in this past August has a bit to do with this divorce news. I'm not a huge Hulk Hogan fan but I think it's kinda crappy to find out that your wife is divorcing you from a newspaper reporter. [Source]

In happier family news, Lindsay Lohan teamed up with her little sister Ali Lohan to venture out on Black Friday yesterday to snap up some of those bargains that were being offered. Here are a few pics of the Lohan sisters making their way out of Armani Exchange with all their shopping bags in tow:

It's nice seeing the Lohan sisters bonding in this way ... tho, it's a bit disconcerting that the girls had to venture out on the bizzest shopping day of the year to mingle with the, eek, common folk while shopping for bargains. Has Lindsay blown the majority of her fortune on lip-plumping, lawyers and rehab and that is why the Lohans are in desperate search for bargain basement sales? It's a sad state of affairs when the once financially mighty Lindsay Lohan finds herself shopping for Blue Light Specials in order to stock up on Xmas gifts for her family and friends. Oh wait, maybe it's just sorta funny? [Source]

Entertainment Weekly magazine has announced its picks for the Top 25 Entertainers of the Year (a list that includes the like of George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, The Sopranos and others) and has dubbed Harry Potter author and all-around genius JK Rowling as THE Entertainer of 2007:

It would be so easy to explain why J.K. Rowling is 2007's Entertainer of the Year with numbers, not words. The numbers, after all, are so much fun to tally and goggle at: $15 billion (the estimated total revenue generated by the Harry Potter industry); nearly 400 million (the number of Potter books sold worldwide); $4.49 billion (the total worldwide box office gross of the five Harry Potter films, allowing the series to zip past Star Wars and the James Bond films this summer to become the most lucrative movie franchise in history). And let's not forget 1, 2, 3, and 4: the places Rowling holds on the list of the fastest-selling books in the not-very-long history of measuring fast-selling books. But Rowling never relied on mathematics to gun the motor of the 4,100-page narrative she brought across the finish line this year ... So we'll keep it simple: J.K. Rowling is our Entertainer of the Year because she did something very, very hard, and she did it very, very well, thus pleasing hundreds of millions of children and adults very, very much. In an era of videogame consoles, online multiplayer ''environments,'' and tinier-is-better mobisodes, minisodes, and webisodes, she got people to tote around her big, fat old-fashioned printed-on-paper books as if they were the hottest new entertainment devices on the planet. Let's also credit her for one more thing. What she spent the last 17 years creating turned out to be completely original. And the very long, very well-written article goes on from here. I couldn't agree more with EW's choice ... not at all. JK Rowling has managed to create an entire world, an entire universe, that will surely live on for all time. Her ability to craft books that have successfully and overwhelming managed to pull kids away from their TVs, computers and video games for the time it would take them to read one of her installment of the Harry Potter saga should be praised above all else. We live in an age where technology is growing by leaps and bounds and yet, JK Rowling has proven that with the right amount of talent, kids can be herded in and reminded that reading can be just as cool as the latest video games (and then turn right around and turn that book into a video game to tide the kiddies over until her next book was released). I sincerely hope that JK will return to writing books again ... I bet she still has quite a few stories left to tell ... I can't wait until she unleashes a new series of books upon the world again. Kylie Minogue and her famous bum has been immortalized in bronze in her homeland of Australia as a new statue of the pixie poplet was unveiled this week ... take a look:

Pop star Kylie Minogue - and her famous rear - have been immortalised in bronze in a statue unveiled in her home town Down Under. The life-size likeness, complete with lace body stocking and high-heels, will stand alongside fellow Australian entertainment greats in a Hollywood-style Walk of Fame at Melbourne's Docklands. The figure took three months to fashion and was posed for by a waitress whose measurements are almost identical to Kylie's. It is the work of sculptor Peter Corlett, who said he was inspired by Minogue's Showgirl tour to create a statue representing the "ultimate Kylie". He worked with the 39-year-old singer's management and dressmakers in London to get her body measurements, right down to the size of her wrist. The body double, a dancer from Sydney, [named Sophia James] was then able to replicate the Minogue pose to help the Australian sculptor produce the final version. The statue is part of a Variety Entertainers of the Century display. Apparently, Kylie was not at all impressed by the statue version of herself, crouching on all fours with her bum up in the air, that was unveiled at Madame Tussaud's a few years ago (and was replaced earlier this year) ... I think that she'll really like this new bronze statue. It's a very good likeness :) [Source]

James Franco is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Italian GQ magazine:

You know, we don't really hear that much about James Franco that much over all ... he has appeared in quite a few forgettable movies but will forever be associated with the Spider-Man saga where he portrayed the flawed Harry Osborn. I dunno what it is about him that is so appealing tho ... it's not his acting ... I think maybe it's his lips. [Source]

While James rocks the hot lips, Zachary Quinto rocks the sexy eyebrows ... here are a couple pics of Zachy Q on the cover and in the pages of a special edition of FHM magazine that will only be sold online, in limited quantities and while supplies last:

Zachary Quinto - brain hungry Heroes villain and now the proud bearer of Spock's pointy stick-on ears in the new Star Trek movie stars on the cover of the most limited edition FHM of all time! 'Stardated' 10712.01 (honestly, nerds go batshit for this kind of thing) this extra-special FHM will not be available in any shop anywhere on Earth (and beyond, of course) but is available to pre-order through FHM.com from today. And once the incredibly small print run is gone it's most definitely gone forever (apart from when it turns up on eBay at vastly inflated prices, obviously). Click HERE to reserve your copy now. Now that Zachary is working on the Star Trek movie, his sexy eyebrows have been thinned out considerably. I'd suggest ordering a copy of this limited edition magazine just so you can remember what his bushy brows looked like. [Source]

In related Heroes news, here are a few select photos of Milo Ventimiglia back in the day when he was but a mere struggling actor trying to make it in Hollywood:

Okay, so it's not really news but the pics are fun and are deffo worth posting. I am so glad that Milo finally got his hair style figured out. I say, bring back the emo bangs!! [Source]

The industrious kids at ONTD! have sniffed out a bunch of new viral marketing websites that have been posted online to promote the new Batman sequel The Dark Knight. Here are a couple of pics from The Gotham Times website (the official site of the Gotham City newspaper) and The Ha Ha Ha Times website (The Joker's answer to the "official" newspaper site):

I am just so impressed with all the online stuff the folks at WB are doing to promote the new Batman movie so many months ahead of the movie's release. By creating an interactive element to the promotion, people feel involved with the movie's release ... which pretty much ensures that they'll rush out to see the movie once it is finally released. So brills and so fun. [Source, Source via ONTD!]

Les News:
Yesterday afternoon was a nice, quiet one here at the Hauslaib abode. For the most part, we all lazed around and read, played games, watched home videos ... hahahahhaha, trust me, it was very fun. Last night, I went out with David and his sibs to the local watering hole to drink up with some of their high school friends who are also home for the Thanksgiving weekend.

I think we're actually venturing out of the house and into civilization this afternoon so ... I must be out. Have a great, relaxing Saturday y'all. Go Sooners! I'm out.
