Who's there? Why, it's a new Batman: The Dark Knight poster featuring the film's supervillain The Joker:
I cannot believe we are just about 2 months away from the release of the new Batman sequel already. It seems like AGES ago that the movie had begun filming and now we're so close to its release. I'm pretty sure there will be a heavy online viral push as we get nearer and nearer to the film's release ... this poster is but the latest tease that the biggest movie of the summer* is just around the corner. The TV Guide: This Old House
Since I've been running around all week long and I have another week of running around ahead of me this coming week (along with a quick weekend trip to NYC) I really wanted to take a day and do ... nothing. Well, that's not entirely true ... I blogged and watched a lot of TV ... and I sat down and read some New Yorker magazines (THIS made me LOL almost to death) and one of my favorite books, House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski:
I first read House of Leaves back in 2002 and then again in 2006 ... so, of course, it was time to read it again. House of Leaves is one of those books I can read over and over again and still glean new insight each time. The book is so complex, I'm not really sure if a short blurb can do it justice. It's wildly inventive and very complicatedly interesting. I so wanted MZD's follow up book Only Revolutions to be as good ... unfortch, for me it isn't. I tried reading that book when it was released in hardcover -- no dice. Then again when it came out in paperback -- nope. I just recently downloaded the book in audio form -- hopefully that'll do the trick. But I'm getting off topic ... I'm back with the House and a few hours reading its pages already gave me the most vivid and life-like dream that I've had in months. I woke up this morning shocked that I had been dreaming. THIS site will lead you a forum that has more information on the book than even I know about having read it only 2 times. If this sounds intriguing to you, I suggest you check it out for yourself. It's one of the books that I love to give to people and except for Neil Gaiman, I really consider Mark Z. Danielewski as one of the smartest, most inventive writers alive today. I'm looking forward to delving back into the book.
Not sure what's up for today ... I suspect more reading. It seems criminal to stay in and read, tho ... I might venture out and enjoy the sun while I'm at it. Happy Weekend!

A Grand Opening
Sean P. Diddy Combs & a solo Nick Cannon (who apparently got permission from his mother wife Mariah Carey to go to a major event all by his big-boy self) were among the guests and John Mayer (sans Jennifer Aniston) & Alicia Keys were among the performers at the opening of the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Ledyard, CT last night ... here are a few pics:

Now, either Mariah Carey couldn't deign to be seen at an event (no matter the brand name magnitude) in Ledyard, CT or she has no problem letting her childgroom run free and party with the likes of partyboy Diddy ... but Mimi was a no-show at last night's MGM event. Personally, my money is on the former cuz I don't think her control-freakness jibes with the latter. In any event, Nick and Diddy were practically BFF inside Diddy's Den, a special section of the party (most likely meant to ensure that Diddy would attend and bring some famous friends with him). No word on if the boys got into some trubs ... but, again, I don't think anyone wants to get caught effing with Mariah Carey. I'm glad to see that John Mayer cut his hair for the event ... Well, It's A Start
You know ... I just *love* it when men listen to me. Yesterday, I blogged about how Jake Gyllenhaal has been slipping into boringland now that he's "attached" to Reese Witherspoon and I publicly stated that I wished he would up his game ... it turns out that Jakey poo was listening and has done just that. Here are photos of a spandexed Jake going for a bike ride in Venice, CA -- er, unfortch he brought along Reese Witherspoon with him. I guess beggars can't be choosers:
In retrospect, I don't really mind seeing pics of Jake with Reese (especially when he's dressed like this) after all ... sure, there are other scenarios that I would much rather see in photos (ie. less clothing altogether, more singular Jake) but I am still pretty happy with what I get. Britney Heads Down South ... Way Down South
After successfully navigating the waters of a pretty amazing last couple of months, Britney Spears packed her bags, her assistant, her Papa Jamie Spears and, apparently, Mel Gibson and made her way down to Costa Rica for some much-needed rest and relaxation on the beach. Here are a few photos of Brit Brit frolicking in the ocean this weekend:

I cannot stop singing the praises of Britney Spears these days. She has turned her entire life around so successfully that it damn near brings a tear to my eye every time I think about it. I am so happy that Britney is taking some time off to enjoy a well-deserved vacay :) And, if she makes a new friend ... a new male friend perhaps ... then all the better -- well, maybe. Here are more photos of Brit on holiday riding around on an ATV with her assistant and some more beach frolicking ... with a mysterious new fella:

Ashl33n Tie The Knot!
Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are now officially husband and wife after being wed in a family-oriented ceremony in the Simpson family home in Encino, CA. Earlier this week, when white tents started springing up in the Simpson home backyard, I guessed that maybe they were being erected as a decoy to throw the paparazzi off the trail of the real wedding site -- I guess the wedding planners weren't that savvy. Here are a few photos of some of the wedding guests who were lucky enough to be invited arriving at the Simpson home yesterday afternoon:

But alleyes cameras were on the look-out for the arrival of Jessica Simpson to see if her rumored ex-boyfriend Tony Romo would accompany her to the nuptials. There was a report that Papa Joe Simpson suggested (insisted?) that Tony attend the wedding as Jessica's date as a show of support for the family ... it turns out that Tony did just that. I'm very interested to see the photos that will surely be released to some magazine this week (you can be sure that Papa Joe worked out a lucrative deal for the sale of those photos) cuz I want to see Romo in a tux, posing with Jessica and smiling. I really do not believe the couple is still together and I want to see what lengths they will go to to look as if they were still a happy couple.
Here are pics of a real happy couple making their arrival at the wedding site yesterday ... Nicole Richie and Joel Madden were among the famous friends who attended Ashl33n's wedding yesterday:

Please be advised that [the] possession of cameras of any kind (including ... cell phones with cameras) in or around the venue ... prohibited. Plese be ... special event is being photographed [by approved] authorized personnel. By enterting [this venue you are] consenting to the inclusion of your [image in] connection with any such ... [agencies], and which manner ... to you and without ...
Brills ... Papa Joe wants to make sure that the sale of the wedding photos are not diluted by any unauthorized photography.
Anyways, the deal was done ... and a publicist for the couple gave the scoop to People magazine:

"We're delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends," said the spokesperson. Simpson, 23, wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier accessorized with a diamond necklace and earrings by Neil Lane as she and Wentz, 28, exchanged vows in front of 150 guests at her parents' Los Angeles area home. Dad Joe Simpson performed the non-denominational ceremony, while sister Jessica served as maid of honor. Wentz's English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring-bearer. Guests included Jessica's boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, as well as actor Donald Faison with girlfriend CaCee Cobb. Simpson told PEOPLE on Friday that she was never the type to dream about her wedding when she was growing up, but changed her tune once she got engaged. "Now that I'm doing it, I definitely have that big dream. It kind of went more fairytale than I thought. I got really into it." Since news of the wedding came out, new reports have also come out "confirming" that Ashlee Simpson is 4 months pregnant. Nope, I still don't buy it. I believed Pete Wentz when he immediately denied that Ashlee was pregs when the rumor first came out ... could she have gotten pregs since then? Possibly (in fact, I know Papa Joe is counting on it). I'm sure they're gonna have a baby at some point but I do not believe that Ashlee was pregs in the weeks leading up to the release of her new album. No way.
Absent all this rumor drama, I am very happy that Ashlee and Pete have tied the knot. They make a great couple, Pete is a good man and I wish all the happiness in the world for the newlyweds. I worry about Papa Joe Simpson's influence on them tho ... he already ruined Jessica's marriage to Nick Lachey -- let's hope he learned the lesson and will stay out of this new union. A Shadow Of His Former Self
Boo. Remember the good ol' days when the sight of Jake Gyllenhaal (usually shirtless or spandexed) would inspire Le Sighs and Woot!s left and right? It seems like an awfully long time since that was the case. Lately we've been hearing rumors that he and Reese Witherspoon are planning to wed and I find that I am not even bothered anymore. Here are new pics of Jake making his way thru LAX airport (thankfully, Reese-less) but unfortch the usual pangs of excitement are no more:

Exit Strategy
ATTENTION: CSI: SPOILER ALERT WARNING
Welp, it looks like CSI: lost itself another crime scene investigator in their season finale this week. Gary Dourdan, who was recently arrested on suspicion of drug possession in Malibu, CA, managed to return to work mere hours after he was released on bail only to film his last scenes on the series. I just got around to watching the season finale (which aired on Thursday) this morning and wasn't all that shocked to see how the ep ended:
E! is reporting that the show is already looking for his replacement after having found the replacement for Jorja Fox, the last CSI: actor to leave the show. I must say, I liked Dourdan's character on the show (Warwick Brown) but his behavior in real life has always been so unsavory to me. Out of love for the show, I do wish him well ... he's gonna need all the luck he can muster to try and get out of those drug charges against him. [Source, Source]

The TV Guide: Rollin' On V-Dubs
Yesterday afternoon I met up with Steph and Alek so that we could visit a few car dealerships since they are in the market for some new wheels and I have recently decided to get a new car myself. Some of you old skool readers may recall that I used to drive a VW Beetle back in Detroit but had to leave it at home because it wasn't a big enough car to haul my trailer across the country when I made the move to LA in 2006. I ended up bringing my parent's unused 2001 Honda Accord to LA with me so I figured it was finally time for me to get a new car ... so, S+A and I went to check out the new German cars. We visited VW, Audi and BMW but from the start, we were really taken with the fun cars at Volkswagen. Here are some pics from yesterday's dealership fun and a few pics that we took after dinner:
I love my Beetle so much that I was insistent that we swing by VW to check out their newest cars ... Steph immediately fell in love with a creme colored VW convertible Beetle (which was labeled, "Le Creme Puff" -- perfect for him) and I was very impressed with the new 2009 VW Tiguan. I've been thinking about getting a cross-over SUV type vehicle and I think this might be the one for me. The enormous moon roof almost sold me instantly but the rest of the car's features really impressed me as well -- and it's a VW, and I love VWs. I kinda love that Heidi Klum and Seal appear in an ad for the Tiguan as well :) I still have to kick around a few ideas but the Tiguan is top on my list right now.
After we did the car thing, we dined at Houston's before heading out to LAX to pick up S+A's friend Sebastian who flew in from France for the weekend.
It's hot today ... I hope y'all can get out and enjoy the day today.

A New Breed Of Doll
Skye Sweetnam has *just* released her latest DIY music video for her song Baby Doll Gone Wrong (which is on her new album Sound Soldier) and sent the vid personally to me so that I can share it with all y'all ... check it out:

Her on-going stint as the deliciously evil Georgina Sparks on Gossip Girl has elevated her to the top of the Hollywood "It" Girl pack again. She is in such demand that she (and to be fair, her other GG cohorts) has been showing up at events all over the place. Who's The Bossy?
Lindsay Lohan will be releasing Bossy, the first single off her new as-yet-untitled album, on May 27 and here is our first look at the single artwork:
As was reported earlier this month, Ne-Yo revealed that he wrote the song expressly for and with Lindsay Lohan in mind:
"I wrote it for her because when she's on her game, you can see these traits in her. When she's focused, she exudes the aura of a boss with ease," Ne-Yo explains. "When [producer] Stargate and I were approached with the task, we viewed it as a challenge. 'Can we make a song for Lindsay Lohan that people were gonna take seriously?' I think we did it." In the song's chorus, Lohan unapologetically sings, "I'm just a little bossy. I like it how I like it when I like it and that's how it is." Ne-Yo says the song is about strength. "It's basically about a woman being strong enough to get what she wants when she wants it," he tells PEOPLE. "In this case, 'Bossy' is a term that describes confidence and power." "Bossy" is slated to appear on Lohan's as-yet untitled third album, due on Motown Records later this year.
I loved the track as soon as I heard it the first time (click HERE if you have yet to hear it for yourself) ... Ne-Yo writes great songs and I think that Lindsay will have a huge hit album if this is any indication of what her new disc may sound like overall. [Source]

Happiness Is ...
Yesterday we saw pics from a "bachelor dinner" at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills, CA for Pete Wentz (attended by his father Pete Wentz, Sr. and his soon-to-be father-in-law Papa Joe Simpson) just 2 days before his scheduled wedding and today we have a few pics from the afterparty that night. Pete and his fiancée Ashlee Simpson were joined by Jessica Simpson and others at the Roosevelt Hotel for some late night/early morning partying ...

The Fauxmance
It would seem that whatever Papa Joe Simpson wants, Papa Joe Simpson gets. Amid swirling rumors that Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo have broken up (well, the rumors actually claim that Tony dumped Jessica weeks ago), a new bit of unsubstantiated news came out that Papa Joe was asking (insisting?) that Tony still accompany Jessica to the wedding of Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz (due to take place today) despite any break-up as a show of support for the family. After that news came out, Jessica and Tony were conveniently seen lunching together yesterday here in LA ... HMMMMM:

Jessica Simpson was seen having lunch with Tony Romo in L.A. Friday at Katsuya after three weeks of not being photographed together and widespread reports the couple had split. Columnist Alan Peppard of The Dallas Morning News reported Simpson and Romo were dunzo Thursday. Despite rep denials, "two people close to Tony and Jess have told me that the glam couple is splitsville, kaput, over, put a fork in it," Peppard wrote. Another report in the Chicago Sun-Times said Romo grew tired of Simpson's increasingly meddlesome father Joe ... "Tony did dump Jessica," a source close to the Dallas Cowboys quarterback told Usmagazine.com. "Of course, she's upset!" So are they really over? "He's broken up with her before, but I don't know if they'll get back together this time," a source tells Us. Romo could be in town for Ashlee Simpson's wedding to Pete Wentz on Saturday. "Joe has called Tony and asked him to come to show support for the wedding," a source told Us. Though on Monday of this week, Simpson's rep denied a split, her PR people have remained silent all week on the couple's status. Pictures of Romo partying with a Jessica look-a-like did not help matters.
Personally, based on things that I've heard from eyewitnesses of Romo's behavior in recent weeks, I believe that they are dunzo (or at least, were dunzo) and that Tony is just being a nice guy by attending Ashl33n's wedding with Jessica for the Simpson family. Could it be that they could may get back together? It's possible but I find it unlikely. The drama is pretty ridic, tho ... all this attention on Jessica when it should be all about Ashlee -- and well, maybe that's the point. [Source]
