Space Invaders

Er, it looks like he managed to mangle one of the kids who looks to be pretty laid out in that one pic (you will note, that kid wasn't around to pose for that last group shot either). Ah well, soccer is a deadly sport ... if you can't hang, well, too bad. [Source]
Lindsay Lohan was spotted outside of the confines of the Utah rehab facility that she's been checked into again this week ... this time L. Lo went out for a nice bike ride:

Again, I'm concerned that she's spending so much time away from her rehab treatment regiment visiting tanning salons and going for bike rides. It seems to me that she is in desperate need of intense rehab therapy and while spending some time doing other enjoyable things might sound nice, I don't know that someone with Lindsay's problems should be out having a good time when she should be in focusing on her rehabilitation. In other Lohan news, mama Dina and papa Michael were both in court yesterday where they managed to finally come to a final divorce resolution. At long last, the couple are finally, totally and completely dunzo ... er, I think:

As expected, Michael and Dina Lohan reached a settlement in their contentious divorce on Friday, avoiding a public trial. "Mr. and Mrs. Lohan, you have both demonstrated to me extraordinarily good judgment in resolving the matter as you did," Judge Robert Ross told Lindsay's parents. John DiMascio, Jr., Michael's attorney, says he expects the divorce to be final in about 90 days, depending upon how quickly the divorce documents are filed and then processed by the court. "Now the healing process can begin for my children and myself," Dina said as she left the Mineola, N.Y., court. When asked how Lindsay is doing, she said, "fantastic." All of the couple's differences, however, are not completely settled. Dina and Michael will meet again in family court on Sept. 6 to work on "pending issues, custody and parental access to the children," DiMascio told PEOPLE. A psychologist who already has met with Michael, Dina and their two younger offspring, Ali and Cody, will also then make his recommendations concerning the children. "Hopefully, we'll be able to resolve that one with the same efficacy as this one," said DiMascio of Friday's agreement, terms of which remain confidential. The couple's older children, Lindsay Lohan, 21, and her brother Michael, 19, are no longer minors and, therefore, not under the purview of family court. Michael and Dina, who had married in 1985, agreed to a separation in 2005. About two months ago, ago, Dina requested that the separation be finalized with divorce, which Michael had not granted until Friday. Okay ... so maybe they're not totally, totally dunzo yet (90 days is a long time) and they still have that sticky mess regarding child visitation but ... I'm sure things will come to a final, happy resolution ... some day. I weep for this family ... they are all kinds of screwed up and the worst, at least in terms of Lindsay, is still to come. Blah. Merv Griffin was remembered by family, friends and colleagues at his funeral yesterday in Beverly Hills, CA in a heavily attended service at Church of the Good Shepherd. There were so many mourners in attendance that they had to be shuttled in from other locations. Here are a few pictures from yesterday's somber ceremony:

Hollywood stars fondly remembered Merv Griffin at his funeral Friday, including Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who credited the creator of "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune" with jump starting his own acting career. Among mourners who filled the Church of the Good Shepherd were former first lady Nancy Reagan, Pat Sajak, Vanna White, Alex Trebek, Dick Van Dyke and Griffin's son, Anthony, and his family. Schwarzenegger, who attended with his wife, Maria Shriver, gave one of the eulogies. "I can say today I wouldn't have gone as far in my career if it wouldn't have been for Merv Griffin," Schwarzenegger said, recalling his appearances on "The Merv Griffin Show," which date back to 1974. "He had me on many times, and I was on his show to teach him about fitness and he would be teaching me about acting. Well, neither worked," the bodybuilder-turned-actor-turned-governor said to laughter. Griffin's son followed with a mix of humor and affection: "I never knew anyone who loved life as much as my father," he said. Griffin, who created "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune," was 82 when he died Sunday of prostate cancer ... Griffin was to be buried not far away, in Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery, where Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin, Natalie Wood and other Hollywood notables are interred. Interestingly enough Ray Richmond, a good friend of Merv Griffin, has gone on the record to reveal that Griffin died a closeted gay man and laments that he wishes his friend could've been able to come out before he died last weekend: Merv Griffin was gay. Why should that be so uncomfortable to read? Why is it so difficult to write? Why are we still so jittery even about raising the issue in purportedly liberal-minded Hollywood, in 2007? Griffin, who died of prostate cancer Sunday at 82, stayed in the closet throughout his life. Perhaps he figured it was preferable to remain the object of gossip rather than live openly as "one of them." But how tremendously sad it is that a man of Merv's renown, of his gregarious nature and social dexterity, would feel compelled to endure such a stealthy double life even as the gay community's clout, and its levels of acceptance and equality, rose steadily from the ashes of ignorance. What a powerful message Griffin might have sent had he squired his male companions around town rather than Eva Gabor, his longtime good friend and platonic public pal. Imagine the amount of good Merv could have done as a well-respected, hugely successful, beloved and uncloseted gay man in embodying a positive image. I had more than a passing acquaintance with him, having worked on "The Merv Griffin Show" as a talent coordinator/segment producer in 1985-86 as the show was winding down. Around the office, Merv's being gay was understood but rarely discussed (and certainly never with him). We knew nothing of his relationships because he guarded his privacy fiercely, and we didn't pry. Merv's secret gay life was widely known throughout showbiz culture, if not the wider America. It gained traction in 1991 when he was targeted in a pair of lawsuits: by "Dance Fever" host Denny Terrio, alleging sexual harassment; and by assistant Brent Plott seeking $200 million in palimony. Both ultimately were dismissed ... While it would seem everything has changed today, little actually has. You can count on the fingers of one hand, or at most two, the number of high-powered stars, executives and public figures who have come out. Those who don't can't really be faulted, as rarely do honesty and full disclosure prove a boon to one's showbiz livelihood. Nonetheless, the elephant that was his sexual orientation never really stopped following Griffin from room to room. He could duck it for a while, but it would always find him. It's disheartening that Merv had to die to shake it for good. I must admit, I knew nothing of Merv Griffin's private life and it never occurred to me that he was gay. I can absolutely understand why he would choose to keep this part of his life private and out of the tabloid headlines. It is very sad that in 2007 this is still an issue that people are so fearful of. Learning that Merv Griffin was gay only makes me wonder who else in Hollywood is keeping their own secret. At least now, Merv doesn't have to keep his secret any longer ... he can finally rest in peace. [Source]
Hilary Duff and hockey boy Mike Comrie are still goin' at it these days ... here are pictures of Hil D. and Mike trying to make their escape together from Les Deux last night:

It's nice to know that Mike can settle down and be a good boy for a while cuz we all know that Hilary Duff ain't taking any more guff from any dude's that she's dating. He better stay out of trubs in order to stay in her good graces. [Source]
Well now ... I've seen sexy and I've seen sexy ... but I ain't never seen sexy like Zach Braff sexy:

Chris Evans is trying to show that one doesn't have to take off one's clothing (Zach Braff) in order to be really sexy. Here are a few pics from Chris's spread in the new issue of GQ magazine:
Yes, yes ... he looks hot in the new Tom Ford Fall line but, I'm sorry, I much prefer Chris Evans in all of his almost-nekkid glory. Call me crazy!! [Source]
Nicole Scherzinger is about to unleash her solo debut album, hot on the heels of her amazing debut single Whatever U Like. Here is our first look at the cover artwork for Her Name Is Nicole:
Honestly, with such a hot video and as hot as her photoshoots are I was really expecting more. I can't say that I'm at all wowed by this actually :( [Source]
But if you think that Nicole's album cover artwork isn't all that then wait until you see what bullshizz the Spice Girls are comin' at us with. Here is the cover artwork for their Greatest Hits album:
Hello Everybody, We are very excited to be able to show you the cover of our Greatest Hits album. We have all been involved with the design and are really pleased with it ... we hope that you like it as much as we do. We wanted to use our official website to show it to the fans first! Are they effing kidding? They were "all involved with the design"? What the hell does that mean ... what design? It looks exactly like the cover artwork for their first album but bedazzled. Personally, I think it's uninspired crap. If the Spices are really "excited" about this album artwork then it really doesn't bode well for the upcoming reunion tour. BOOOOOOOOOO. [Source]

I did take some time to go to the movies last night because I was really anxious to see the new Nicole Kidman/Daniel Craig movie The Invasion:
I kinda try to stay away from reviews of movies before I see them, just so I can see them fresh. I thought that the previews for The Invasion made the movie look an awful lot like the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers and it turns out that it is, indeed, a remake of that movie. Honestly, I was hoping for a scary movie and this movie really isn't scary ... it's intense and and suspenseful but not really all that scary. I liked it but I didn't love it. You'd think that aliens puking on people would be really terrifying ... but it's really only minorly gross. Nicole Kidman looked amazing in this film ... I don't know what kind of deal she has with the devil to always look so good but she's really reaping the rewards from her end of the bargain. I don't know that I cared for the ending ... it reminded me of the end of War of the Worlds which wrapped itself up too nicely. Eh ... I guess I'll have to wait to see Rob Zombie's Halloween to get all skerred at the movies.
I have a few things to take care of before tomorrow's flight out ... I'm planning on posting early tomorrow morn but it might be a short, quick one. Have a great weekend y'all, I'm out.
