Mist-y, Horror-Colored Memories
Here are a few newish pics taken from the backyard of Britney Spears's Malibu manse which were taken about a week ago but, I don't believe, have been widely distributed. Here are a few extremely adorable pics of Britney's sons Sean Preston and Jayden James both rocking matching mop top hair-dos as they run around their backyard:

I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised that the lads are wearing wife-beater t-shirts and jeans that are too long (clearly, the boys take fashon cues from their mother) but they are really cute pics nonetheless. All kidding aside, I want nothing more than for our dear Britney to seriously get her shizz straight so that her kids can grow up with some sense of normalcy. These little young'ns look so cute and so innocent that I'd hate to see them damaged by all the custodial juggling that is going on between Britney and her ex-hubby Kevin Federline. I am really hoping that 2008 will be much less turbulent than 2007 was for the entire Spederline clan. [Source]
Ack! And suddenly I'm realizing that it's that time of the year when thoughts turn to the new year and all the promises of new wackiness from our fave celebs as the year comes to an end. I find it a bit unsettling that we're exactly a month away from Xmas and then it'll be 2008 right after ... where has the year gone? End digression.
Lindsay Lohan and her family continued to spend their Thanksgiving holiday together this weekend as L. Lo, boyfriend Riley Giles, her mom Dina and sibs paid a little visit to younger brother Cody's middle school where they cheered him on in a basketball game yesterday afternoon:

Again, daddy Michael Lohan was persona non grata at the family outing which prolly means that no one in the Lohan family is falling for the reformed image that he has been presenting to the media at every opportunity. Well, I guess that is not entirely true ... Lindsay still seems to be willing to cut her dad some slack but we'll get to that in a sec. After the basketball game was finished, Lindsay and Riley said goodbye to her family and hopped a plane bound for LA bringing the happy Lohan Thanksgiving Weekend to a quiet close. Bless. [Source]
But, before Linds and Riley (RiLo) made their way to JFK Airport, they did manage to squeeze out a bit of time to meet up with Daddy Lohan so that they could all spend some quality time together ... at a Long Island drug store:

Now, I wouldn't necessarily choose a drug store as the perfect place to try and spend some quality time with my estranged daughter but I'm thinking that Daddykins really didn't have any say in where Lindsay would meet him ... he's prolly lucky that she made the time for him at all. Methinks that Michael Lohan has got a long way to go before he gets squarely back in the Lohan family’s good graces ... until then, he'll prolly have to get used to meeting up with his daughter at drug stores, gas stations and fast food joints for some time to come. Well now ... what have we here? After weeks of speculation that Hayden Panettiere was gettin' some nookie from her Heroes hottie co-star Milo Ventimiglia, Miss Thang was spotted cozying up to singer Ne-Yo under the guise that they were working together on a charity event. Um hmm. But now, we have newer pics of Hayden hanging out with another new guy ... one who is close enough to her to plant a gentle kiss on her Haydenness as they parted ways. Just what is going on with Miss P these days?
Either this strapping fella is just a friend (which is entirely likely, after all, just look at those faboo jeans the boy is wearing ... coupled with the sassy scarf, well, he may really end up just being a friend) OR Hayden Panettiere is sowing some wild oats like nobody's business. I say, good for her ... she should love up on any dude she likes ... as long as she leaves Milo free and single, I'm happy to endorse her hooking up with pretty much anyone out there ... er, except for Dax Sheppard. I mean, who in their right mind would want to start hooking up with Dax Sheppard?!? [Source]
The Writer's Strike, which has essentially crippled Hollywood and has successfully shut down TV's most popular, most profitable shows, rolls on in LA and NYC ... and is getting some support from a couple of the Buffyverse's favorite actors Alyson Hannigan, her husband Alexis Denisof and Seth Green. Who knew it would take a Writer's Strike to reunite Willow and Oz after all these years?
While the Writer's Strike managed to not force the cancellation of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (which is heavily scripted but was written by parade writers who are not involved with the Hollywood unions) there is still no end in sight for the strike over all and is expected to roll on into the New Year which is only a little over a month away. Barring any surprise Xmas miracles (which I understand is highly unlikely), it looks like Ali, Alexis and Seth are gonna be delivering Krispy Kreme donuts to their striking compatriots for some time to come. Here are new pictures of Kylie Minogue wearing a questionable yellow jacket in Paris, France this weekend where she has been doing last minute promo appearances for the release of her new album X which hits stores in Europe tomorrow:
Yeah, I'm not really feelin' the banana yellow leather jacket but it's really hard for me to hate on Miss Kylie Minogue. Incidentally, the new Kylie font I used to type her name was created by Kane on Say Hey! which he has made available for free download HERE. Get it while supplies last. [Source]
Here is a new pic of Kylie from the Spanish publication EL PAÍS which accompanies a new article entitled El bumerán Kylie está de vuelta ...
... which roughly translates into, Trent really needs to learn how to read Spanish. I'm sure the article is fascinating but I'm having a hard time deciphering it. Click HERE to read the article in Spanish if any of y'all are of the Latin persuasion and feel so inclined. [Source]
One last bit of Kylieness, as I've been saying pretty much on a daily basis for the past few weeks, Kylie's new album X is finally being released in shops outside the US tomorrow but it is also being made available in a few different mediums. It is being sold in regular and limited edition CD versions, in digital version, in vinyl version and on a special USB stick version:
I have already purchased a digital version of the album and have placed my preorders for a couple of limited edition CD versions ... but I think I'm gonna hafta get this USB version as well. It is so cute! [Source]
Yesterday, I blogged that Entertainment Weekly (rightly) chose JK Rowling as the Entertainer of the Year for 2007 ... but today, I'm posting a few pics of the other Entertainers who made the cut on EW's list of Top Picks for the year:
Carrie Underwood, Vanessa Williams, Kanye West, Gerrard Butler, Rihanna and Shia LeBeouf all had amazing, if not break-out, years this year. Everywhere I turn Carrie seems to be taking over the planet much like Rihanna did earlier this year when her megahit song Umbrella stormed the airwaves. Vanessa and Shia both had resurgences in their careers and the world stood up and took notice that Gerrard is a new force to be reckoned with. Kanye West had another stellar year all the way up until the unfortunate loss of his mother just a couple of weeks ago. Even still, something tells me that Kanye is going to bounce back and come out even stronger than he did before. Entertainment Weekly is, IMHO, the best magazine around ... they really know what they are doing when they compile lists like this. [Source]
I have to send out HUGE CONGRATS to my boys in Crimson and Cream from the University of Oklahoma for handily destroying the 'Pokes from Oklahoma State University yesterday afternoon. The game was never even a close one ... OU handily defeated OSU by a score of 49-17:
Even tho OU was victorious yesterday they still have a very important game ahead of them next week. Missouri has been having a great season thus far (they beat #2 Kansas yesterday) and they will take on the mighty Sooners for the Big 12 Championship next weekend. OU handed Missouri their only defeat this season and they are hungry for revenge ... next week is gonna be a biggie!!! [Source]
And finally, it's that time of the week when we honor and salivate over the Hot Dude of the Week. This week's specimen has never been featured before and is a husky hunk of beef ... say hello to Sal:

Hmm ... someone seems to have been a bit overgenerous with the Photoshopping on Mr. Sal (especially in the face region) but that doesn't mean we can't appreciate the rest of him. Despite the digitally enhanced rosy cheeks (or maybe because of), I think Sal makes a nice way to end a nice Fall weekend. [Source]

After we had fully exhausted everything that the mall had to offer, David and I went out to see a movie together. He was just as anxious to see The Mist as I was so that is what we decided to see:
I've mentioned before that I am a fairly big Stephen King fan (having read most of his books published at the time when I was in Junior High School) and find that generally the movie adaptations of his books are usually hit or miss (mostly miss). I am happy to report that The Mist is definitely a hit. It has been ages since I read the short novella The Mist so I had forgotten a lot of the plot points that made them new surprises for me again. As I recall, the movie was very true to the original story ... with the focus on the psychologically intensive social battles instead of the scary, monster element (altho, that part is included as well). King is very good at taking diverse groups of people and putting them in ridiculously impossible situations and then letting them tear themselves apart. This convention is handled brilliantly in this movie. I must confess that I was not very impressed with the CGI utilized in the movie ... yes, the "monsters" are scary but some of the effects leave much to be desired. I also caught that at 3 different scenes the boom mic from filming managed to make its way into the frame ... how this bit of shoddy editing made its way into the final film, I don't know but it comes across as pretty weak filmmaking. That being said, I really loved the movie over all. I had forgotten how the story ends right up until the last minute ... and boy, what an ending it is. David and I were still talking about it on the drive home. The story is classic Stephen King and if you go into this movie focusing on the psychological suspense of the story rather than the gore factor, I think you'll be very pleased with what you get. Thomas Jane was a great lead character ... but Marcia Gay Harden really steals the show. She is amazing ... crazy and scary ... I'd go see the movie again just to see her in this role one more time.
And so ... that is all from me from Connecticut. I'll be back bright and semi-earlyish tomorrow from NYC. I hope y'all have had and will continue to have a great, relaxing weekend. I am out.
