The Choice Has Been Made

At long last a representative speaking for the Spears family has come forward with a statement from the family. In an interview on the Today Show, Lou Taylor (who is a business manager for Mama Lynne and daughter Jamie-Lynn Spears) clarified the feelings of the Spears family in regards to the exploitive comments that have been made by Dr. Phil to the media concerning his involvement in Britney Spears's mental breakdown last week. According to Taylor, Dr. Phil completely violated the trust instilled in him by the Spears family and his services will no longer be required:

Britney Spears's family is accusing Dr. Phil McGraw of violating their trust by making public statements about his hospital visit with the troubled pop star and his call for her to receive therapy. Family spokesman Lou Taylor, a business manager for mother Lynne and daughter Jamie Lynn Spears, appeared on Wednesday's Today show and also said that at no time had the family planned to do a show with McGraw, despite his statements about such a program. (McGraw later said the scheduled episode would not go on as originally planned.) "It was decided it would be detrimental to ever do that," said Taylor, who described McGraw's request for such a show in the first place to be "self-serving." She also said that McGraw has now "compromised" Lynne and Jamie Lynn's relationship with Britney. Taylor confirmed that McGraw had been sent to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Saturday to meet with Britney at the request of the family, and that Lynne Spears and McGraw's wife, Robin, know one another. Asked by Today's Meredith Vieira if McGraw had ever treated Britney on any previous occasions, Taylor replied, "Not to my knowledge." After his visit, McGraw issued the following statement to Entertainment Tonight ... "What's wrong with Dr. Phil's statement," said Taylor, "is that he made a statement. The family, basically, extended an invitation of trust for him to come in as a resource to support them, not to go out and make public statements." She added, "He was not invited to make this part of a public display or part of the media."

This makes total sense. I always contended that Dr. Phil would've needed help to worm his way into Britney Spears's hospital room and we now know that he was given authority to do so by the Spears family ... it was from that point on that he began to take advantage of that trust they placed in him. Clearly, the Spears family aren't really good at making the right decisions ... hopefully this will be a lesson to them. I just really wish they would band together AGAIN and make Britney get serious medical help. How long can she go on until she breaks down again? Meanwhile ... Britney Spears spent another day on the streets of LA visiting her favorite gas stations:

It's so sad ... all she has left is her Yorkie London and her new mute personal assistant to accompany her on these gas station trips. She should be in a a medical facility not doing a tour of gas stations in the greater Los Angeles area :( [Source]

The new issue of OK! magazine will feature new photos of Britney with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James that were photographed by Dani Brubaker for the magazine just weeks before she flipped out and lost all visitation rights to her children. Here is one of the adorable pictures of Britney with her boys in a happier time not so long ago:

The whole world watched last week as Britney Spears, locked inside her home with her youngest child, left even the most faithful fan questioning her ability to be a good parent to her two young boys, Sean Preston, 2, and 1-year-old Jayden James. But only weeks earlier, it was a very different Brit that sat with her adorable little lads for the lens of photographer Dani Brubaker to shoot pictures you'll only see in the pages of the new OK!. "She was very loving," Brubaker recalls. "She told me she loved her children and that they are her life." And far from being the neglectful parent some would portray her as, the photographer tells OK! that Brit was "very attentive" to the needs of her sons. As for the 26-year-old singer's reaction to the shots of her with her sons, Brubaker reveals, "I'm told that when she saw the photographs she literally cried for over an hour and stared at them all night long." So if merely looking at photos of her children has Britney in tears, that would explain why, according to a friend of the singer, the young mom is "inconsolable" right now as the chance of her winning the custody battle for her children looks increasingly slim. "Those boys are her everything, and she's said repeatedly that life isn't worth living if she can't have her babies with her," says the friend. The friend adds that Britney would say goodbye to the music business to look after her boys. "The only reason she's doing this is because she wants them to look up to her onstage and be like, 'That's my mama,' and be proud of her. She'd put her life before them and die for Jayden and Preston. They're her whole world." Reveals the friend, "Britney has always said, 'I would die for my boys if that's what it took to prove I loved them. I'd do anything for them.'"

Well, death isn't required ... all she really needs to do is stay home sometimes and focus on taking care of her children. I do not doubt for one second that she loves her children immensely ... but she just seems incapable of doing the right thing when it comes to her children. Carting them around town to gas stations is not the way to take care of your kids (cuz you know if she hadn't lost her kids last week, they'd be strapped into the backseat of the car in the pics that were posted today). If she really, truly wanted to "do anything" for her kids she would seek medical help in order to get herself right so that she can prove to the courts that she can be a capable mother. I hope that day comes ... soon. [Source]

One last bit of Spearsness ... ever wonder what the child borne of the loins of Jamie-Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge might look like? Well ... wonder no more:

And we're moving on ... last night the special Writer's Strike edition of the People's Choice Awards aired on CBS last night and, honestly, for what they had to work with ... the show turned out pretty cool. All of the acceptance speeches were prerecorded and some of them were pretty inventive. Joaquin Phoenix decided to make a silent statement with his acceptance speech (the only problem was that he spelled his name wrong on one of the cards). This, folks, is what happens when award shows get run over by labor strikes:

The stars of Grey's Anatomy and Pirates of the Caribbean were among the fan favorites at the 34th annual People's Choice Awards on Tuesday, as CBS scrapped its usual live broadcast of the show in favor of a strike-friendly, pre-taped program. The two-month-old Writers Guild of America strike has taken a toll on Hollywood's awards season, leading to the cancellation of the Golden Globes and the scaling-down of People's Choice. The fate of other shows, including the Oscars, remains in question. The People's Choice Awards announced last month that it would replace its traditional live show with "a new format" that had its crews deliver trophies to music, film and television stars on location. Robin Williams accepted his award for favorite funny male while on tour with the United Service Organizations in Kabul, Afghanistan. Members of Rascal Flatts picked up their prize for favorite group at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, and Patrick Dempsey found out he was the favorite male TV star while at the Daytona International Speedway in Orlando. The show couldn't be canceled entirely, host Queen Latifah said Monday. "The thing about the People's Choice Awards that's different from everybody else is it's the people's choice," she said. "So as much as we actors and writers and everyone are dealing with the writers strike and supporting the Writers Guild, you can't disrespect the people who keep us working, and that's the people. Ten million people logged on and voted for everyone, so out of respect for them, we have to" present the awards.

I love the People's Choice Awards because it is the only awards show that is voted on by the public. I was really bummed that the show got cancelled ... well, reconfigured in thi way because I was supposed to go to the show :( But, I understand that the WGA Strike has to remain in effect until the two sides can come to an agreement and that means that awards shows have to pay the price. I'm just glad that the show wasn't axed entirely ... I know I voted and a lot of my pics ended up winning awards. Click HERE for a full list of PCA winners. [Source]

In NYC yesterday, the principal cast of the new revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof came together for a photocall and press conference at New 42 Studios. The cool thing about this new revival is that the show features the first African-American production approved by the Williams estate for the Broadway stage ... including Phylicia Rashad, James Earl Jones, Anika Noni Rose and Terrence Howard ... and is directed by the one and only Debbie Allen! Here are a few pics from yesterday's photocall:

I am so excited for this show ... I've never been able to see Cat on a Hot Tin Roof before (not even the Elizabeth Taylor movie version) so I am anxious to see this production. My David and Lauren, editor of the blog Stereohyped, were able to attend the photocall/press conference yesterday and he tells me that Phylicia Rashad is totally Claire Huxtable in real life ... I love it!! I won't be back in NYC until next month but I hope I'll be able to catch the show on Broadway during its run. Woot! [Source]

Here are new pictures of Hayden Panettiere out and about this week running errands ... all by herself:

You will note that she is curiously missing a certain Milo Ventimiglia that she has been spotted with lately. Hmm ... could Haylo be lying low now that the secret is out that the couple has been seen holding hands and canoodling at movie theaters? Huh? Huh? It's okay, you two, we approve. Come out and play already :) [Source]

David Beckham was spotted in London lookin' sharp as hell in a grey suit and a spiffy purple tie this week:

That's all ... one can never get enough Becks around these here parts. [Source]

Now that Nicole Kidman and hubby Keith Urban have officially confirmed that they are pregs, they can officially begin the fun game of Hide the Bump:

While I am very happy for the couple and their new condition, I feel sorry that they are pretty much going to be hounded 24-7 by paps trying to take pictures of them ... er, you know, like any other time in their lives. It's so hard to be rich and famous these days. [Source]

Here are a few new pictures of Kim Cattrall on a beach in Malibu, CA lookin' all sexy and Samantha Jones-like shooting scenes for the new Sex and the City movie which is currently in production:

I must admit, I have a new appreciation for pictures like this now that I've watched the entire SATC series in its entirety. Now that I'm finally "in the know" I will be staying away from as many spoilers as possible so as not to ruin the movie. Kim is lookin' pretty hawt in these pics ... I guess I do wonder how this beach scene will fit into the movie. [Source]

While Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their kiddies weren't able to make it back to his hometown of Springfield, MO for the holidays, they were able to pop out for a quick trip just recently after all the holiday hub-bub died down. Here is a pic of Brad and Ange with the wait staff of his fave hometown pizza joint Arris Pizza that mysteriously made its way to Life and Style magazine:

Brad Pitt didn’t make it home for the holidays. But on Jan. 2, Brad made up for it by flying Angelina Jolie and all of the kids back to his hometown of Springfield, Mo. After a visit to his parents' house (and a big Pitt family gathering!) the brood’s first stop was local favorite, Arris Pizza. "Brad said it was the first time all the kids have eaten out together as a family," co-owner Joe Kremer tells Life & Style. "Everyone really enjoyed themselves." Brad ordered the Arris Special, which is a 14" Greek pizza with sausage, green peppers and onions. The kids shared a pepperoni pizza. Angelina ordered a spinach salad, described on the menu as, "fresh spinach with red onions, green peppers and fresh grated feta cheese tossed with our homemade Greek dressing. A tasty, healthy treat!'" After dinner, Brad and Angelina even posed for a photo with the Arris Pizza wait staff—which Life & Style has obtained. Two days later, the Jolie-Pitts went out for pizza again—this time at Chuck E. Cheese. "They ordered several pepperoni pizzas for the kids," an eyewitness tells Life & Style. "Brad was really into playing all the arcade games with the kids— he was like a big kid himself!" This was not Brad's first visit to the Springfield, MO Chuck E. Cheese though. In fact, Brad got his first acting gig at the kiddy restaurant—playing a giant rat! "Brad was quite the entertainer back in the late '70s, early '80s," Springfield, MO antique dealer John McCloud tells Life & Style. "He dressed up as the Chuck E. Cheese character. The kids loved him— he was requested more than anyone else for all the birthday parties."

OMG ... I would kill to see a picture of Brad Pitt dressed up like Chuck E. Cheese (who is a mouse AND NOT a rat, thank you very much) ... maybe Life and Style magazine can dig that up, too :) [Source]

Jennifer Lopez is featured on the cover of the new issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine:

The Harper's coverstory revolves around her new fragrance Deseo which is about to be released ... I'm still waiting for the baby coverstory. Boo. She looks good (if a smidge too tan) tho :) [Source]

Hayden Panettiere is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Lucky magazine:

So sweet. So innocent. So America's Girl Next Door. And now she's hooking up with Milo Ventimiglia. I have to keep telling myself ... I like her, I like her, I like her ... [Source]

Johnny Depp, who has no problem baring his chest at the drop of a hat, is featured on the cover of the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine:

He looks pretty good ... I mean, I like him a lot but his usual sense of style doesn't always work for me ... but I like this side of him. I'm usually a fan of bare-chested. [Source]

Those whacky Cruz sisters are at it again ... here are a couple new pictures from the Mango ad campaign that features the amorous Penelope and Monica Cruz wearing clothing of their own design:

Penélope Cruz and her younger sister Mónica embrace their masculine side in their latest collection for Spanish clothes chain Mango. The Volver actress, 33, and her dancer sibling, 30, don oversized men's shirts and fedora hats in the ads for the Spring/Summer collection. The Cruz sisters have designed a 38-piece collection for Mango's new season, following the success of their first collaboration last summer. The stars posed for photography duo Mert and Marcus for the sexy shots, which includes plenty of tanned and toned flesh on display, compared to the covered up autumn/winter collection. The spookily-similar looking sisters are difficult to tell apart as they model denim hotpants and mini-skirts ... As with the Cruzs' first collection for Mango, the new season will also be limited-edition.

These lovely ladies look like they are a lot of fun. I bet they both know how to party. [Source]

And finally, old and embarrassingly fun footage of the UK boy band Take That has resurfaced this week ... here are screenshots from a an appearance the lads did back in 1992 for LK Today on GMTV:

I just love Robbie Williams in short shorts. It's a good look for him ... I think he should wear this sort of thing more often :)

Les News:
Thank the Gods I am feeling better today ... my cough is nearly gone and my sore throat is too. I don't want to press my luck and mae it worse again so I'm gonna keep lying low but I am just glad that I feel so much better. The only good thing to come from my illness is that I've been able to plow thru the entire Sex and the City series. Before I left for the holidays last month I watched the show up until the end of the 3rd season ... since I've been home I've been able to watch the rest of the show ... I finished the 6th and last season last night:

I have to give props to all the folks out there who told me that I'd love the show if I actually watched the show (this means you Erik, VLB and Kirsten Moore). I'm a believer now. I got kinda hooked midway thru season 2 and I really liked everything since. There is way too much to comment on (altho, as I was watching the show I kept thinking how much fun it would've been to do recaps of the show had I watched it as it aired) but I so totally get the phenomenon now. I can't wait to talk about the show with my friends now that I know what to talk about.

Oh and a REALLY cool thing happened yesterday as well ... my friend Michael sent me the manuscript for the book he just finished writing and editing. I am SO excited to read it ... I plan to spend some time with the tome today and will read as much of it as I can until it's finished. I am so happy and excited for Michael ... I can't wait to blog about the books publication (fingers crossed) and hopefully rave reviews!!!

I hope all y'all sickies out there are feeling better today too, thank you all for the kind advice on how to handle my symptoms and sore throat ... many of you were thoughtful enough to send in your suggestions and I love you all for taking the time :)

I am out.
