It's Getting Hot In Here
Tonight is the Vice Presidential candidates debate and I'm really excited. I think that John Edwards is going to rock! Dick Cheney is a robot so I really think we've got this one in the bag. I'm not trying to be cocky, just confident. Make sure you watch tonight, if we learned anything from the first presidential debate (other than John Kerry is the man to be our president) it's that these debates have taken on a whole new importance in this election.
Woo!
Speaking of the election, I was able to get my hands on the very precious Kerry/Edwards signs that I have been watching pop up on lawns all over the place. A fellow Democrat (and history teaching colleague) worked his connections to get me 3 lawn signs. One of them is for our front lawn, one of them is for my parent's front lawn and the third is for the back window of my VW Beetle. I don't want to drive around with a mere bumper sticker, I want a huge-ass sign proclaiming that I am supporting John Kerry and John Edwards!
Yehaw!
I also ordered some campaign materials from KerryGear.com. I ordered a bunch of buttons and a GLBT/Kerry sign for my desk at work. I'll share a photo once it arrives and I put it up. I proudly displayed a Gore 2000 sign during the last election -- much to the chagrin of many Grosse Pointe conservatives.
Fahrenheit 9/11 is out on DVD today -- make sure you get out and get your copy, show it to as many people as you can! It's not too late!
I was able to make a few more wallpapers for my Samsung E715 mobile phone. Say what you will about Britney -- God knows I love her! I think these are pretty cool. I made a few Britney walls for my friend Shane too. Britney news has been kind of quiet lately, we're all waiting for her to post her "Letter of Truth" so until then we have to occupy ourselves as best we can.
Anyways, if you have a Samsung phone feel free to use any of these wallpapers on your phone if you like. Sharing the love, y'all!
Let's do the news-round up:
- A trio of Americans have won the Nobel Prize for ... something. Eh, we're not ALL about pop culture here ... I also post important news too ... Well, enough of that ... moving right along ...
- John Woo is set to direct a live-action movie version of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Er, didn't they already do this? Have we forgotten the Dolph Lundgren fiasco that almost ruined Courtney Cox's career?! He must have been tricked into signing on board this project.
- 20 million years later, the Nirvana box set is finally set for release. Nirvana's label Geffen will issue the band's three disc box set on November 23 here in the States, while NME reports that their British readers will be able to purchase it the day before on November 22. Yeah, now we know for sure that Courtney needs money.
- Have you heard about this Chanel commercial starring Nicole Kidman that has been called "the most expensive 60 seconds ever filmed"? Well -- just so you know -- it's a commercial for Chanel No. 5 and Entertainment Tonight will air it tomorrow night. The ad, directed by Oscar-winner Baz Luhrmann, is described as a "miniature film" and was shot in Sydney, Australia over five days. Set your VCRs
- Now we all know I'm not big on hype (yeah right) but apparently the season finale of Nip/Tuck* is NOT to be missed. ... [I]f you hang around for the entire, commercial-free hour, you'll be rewarded with the last 10 minutes -which are maybe the best 10 minutes of drama (not counting the debates) you'll see this season. Well, I'm intrigued -- I have to check it out unless I get all wrapped up in the debate -- we'll see. I'm sure my friend MK can fill me in if I do miss it.
- And in the She said/She said thing of the moment, Madonna has fired back at the swipe that Elton John took at her at that awards show. A rather more restrained spokesman for Madonna hit out at Elton for "trashing the star" ... He went on: "Madonna doesn't lip sync, nor does she spend time trashing other artists ... "She sang every note on her Re-invention tour live and is not ashamed that she is paid well for her hard work." I'm sure that settles everything.
Peace up, D-town!
