Amazingly, this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly has a feature article (in its supplement Listen2This) on Siouxsie titled Sioux City. The article talks about how Siouxsie Sioux has influenced style and music in general. I can't find the article on their website and it's too long to transcribe but the gist of the piece talks about how as "[a] ferocious and fearless icon, Sioux kicked down doors for such gutsy, against-the-grain musicians as PJ Harvey, Garbage's Shirley Manson, the Distillers' Brody Dalle, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O." There is a great quote from Steven Severin (SATB cofounder) about Siouxsie: "Her influence can't be undervalued. In some sort of negative universe, she's as influential as Madonna." I couldn't agree more! The article gives the names for Sioux's cats -- Spooky, Spider and Dandy -- and formally announces that her next album will be released under her own name; neither The Creatures nor Banshess ... simply as Siouxsie (as a way of "keeping [her] directions open"). Rock on! I can't wait!!!
In a minimally related note, after uploading high quality AAC files of the b-sides I only have about 7GB of space left on my iPod. Do I smell an upgrade?
