Shut Up And Dance
Here is the official Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes-Cruise wedding photo that was released just moments after they exchanged vows where Tom promised to provide "clothes and food and tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, perhaps a cat" and Katie was told that "young men are free and may forget" their promises ... sounds like the perfect way to start out a happily married life together:
Note how Katie appears to be crouching down a bit in her dress so that it appears that new husband Tom looks as if he's just a wee bit taller than her -- when in reality she is much taller than he is. LOLOLOL! [Source, thanks Mary]
All the big names who were expected to appear at the wedding were at the wedding wearing the most ridiculous things possible. Only Brooke Sheilds looked semi-normal in her lovely maroon gown ...
... Victoria Beckham attempted to steal the spotlight by showing up at the wedding wearing a miniversion of the Xenu Mothership on her head. Jennifer Lopez did not look cute her in her fur wrap. Honestly, I really expected more celebs to show up at this wedding ... I have to say that I found the final guestlist a bit lacking. [Source]
The only person I was really excited to see at the wedding wasn't even allowed to go to the wedding. Here is a picture of a sidelined David Beckham back in Madrid for football practice after showing up in Italy to attend the wedding. Becks was ordered back to Spain and had to miss out on the actual wedding itself:
The former England skipper had already been ruled out of Saturday's Spanish League match against Racing Santander with a knee injury but press reports in Britain suggested that Capello was furious with Beckham's trip. However, the player was back in Spain on Saturday to train while wife Victoria, the former Spice Girl, stayed on at the 15th-century castle in the Italian lakeside town of Bracciano to attend Cruise's marriage to Katie Holmes ... Beckham watched his teammates on Saturday from the Santiago Bernabeu VIP seats but his injury is expected to keep him out of the Champions League match with Lyon on Tuesday. Aww ... poor Becks, I bet he really wanted to be at that wedding but by sounds of it I don't think he missed much. Ah well ... the overly hyped TomKat wedding is over and done with ... next up, the newlyweds make their way to the Maldives to enjoy their honeymoon. Will they concoct another scheme to have another child? One can only hope. [Source]
Pink reader Mal was lucky enough to catch one of Jay-Z 7-city concert stops yesterday as he promoted his new album Kingdom Come on his
Mal writes that the Jigga hit the stage at Howard University at about 12:30 pm and put on a HOT show. Sounds like fun! [thanks Mal]
Pink reader Trish sends in this scan of a circular ad that she received in the mail recently ... who knew that Evangeline Lilly was the spokesperson for Endermotherapy Cellulite Removal Treatments:
OOOOH ... so that's how she LOST all that cellulite! OUCH ... sorry, I know that was bad but I'm still hungover. [thanks Trish]
Courtney Love graces the cover of the new issue of V magazine ... unfortunately, she is anything but graceful in the accompanying photospread:
She really shouldn't drink before she puts on her make-up. And we're supposed to believe she's clean? Yeah, whatev. [Source]
Here is another new promo picture of Gwen Stefani for her new album The Sweet Escape:
Bo-ring! I'd rather she stick with the funky wig and big sunglasses. [Source]
Here is the Hot Dude of the Week ... it's cold as hell here in Detroit and while I'm having a great time with my family and friends I do long for the sunny beaches of California ... so, here is a picture of Joe rockin' the speedo to chase away the dreary doldrums here in the midwest:
I might have to get my booty to the beach as soon as I get back to LA. Seeing Joe in his skivvies is definitely an inspiration to get in more beach time when I get home. [Source]
And finally, I have to send out some Birthday LURVE to my boy Matt who is celebrating his birthday today:
I still owe Matt big time for taking me to see Dreamgirls this past Tuesday afternoon. But in the meantime, I'm sending him tons of Birthday LURVE! Happy B-Day, Punk!

Yeah, if you already hate the Dixie Chicks I don't think this movie is for you ... but that's just the way the Chicks want it. The documentary shows what the girls went thru after lead singer Natalie Maines made her GWB comment at the start of the Iraq war. Irregardless of whether or not you agree with what was said isn't really the issue ... the mere fact that so much hatred and contempt could be focused on a single person just because she dared to voice her opinion is just so sad. It's even more upsetting that this hatred seemed amplified because they are women. The critiques by male commentators like Bill O'Reilly and Pat Buchanan had a markedly sexist overtone. Calling them "Dixie Sluts" and saying that they are "silly" women who deserved to be "slapped" is utterly disgusting. I can't imagine having to deal with death threats just because of a single comment made in the heat of the moment (on a concert stage as our country was going to war in a country that was absolutely against that war). The doc shows the group at the heights of their fame to the depths of the fall-out they've had to endure. Even after everything, they remain steadfast in their convictions and I have to applaud them for staying their ground.
Sarah and I loved the movie, it really showed the girls' warts and all ... and I learned that I quite like them as people after all.
After the movie, we went back to Sarah's to prepare for SASS ... and well, these pictures pretty much tell the rest:
In between all the dancing/drinking/scandalousness I got to get a picture with the men behind SASS, DJs Mike Servito and Nathan Rappaport ... and I got to meet a few Pink readers:
I have to give a shout-out to Jeff (and all my peeps at the University of Michigan Law School), David, Holly, Jack, Lauren and everyone else who came over to say hey or to dance a little with me and my friends. I have to send out lots of love to both Mike and Nathan for playing all of our fave songs and for throwing the hottest, funnest danceparty in Detroit. Congrats on your first year ... I'm looking forward to many more years of SASSy fun! Click HERE to see all my pics from last night's fun!
Blah ... I really want to go back to sleep but I have a date with Tracey and Zakiya ... so I'm out. Lates!
