Dress U Up In My Lurve
Pagans consider today the end of the year so, in a way, it's New Year's Eve and I'm counting on all y'all having lots of fun today and tonight. A large number of Pink is the new Blog readers have been sending in costumed photos since last weekend and I will be posting some of them at the end of today's post. Thank you all for sharing and, again, Happy Halloween!!!! [Source]
Britney Spears' new album, Blackout, was finally released yesterday and on the very day that it became available on iTunes it rocketed to the #1 position on the Album Download chart:
Thus far, Britney's song Gimme More went to #1 on the iTunes Song Download chart and the Ringtone Download chart and now Blackout sits atop the Album Download chart. Even without a lick of in person promo on Britney's part (and it sounds like there will be little to no promo for the album at all at this point), her music continues to do very well considering. I'm pretty sure that the album will end up debuting at #1 on the Billboard chart next week ... let's keep those fingers crossed and keep buying those albums :) [Source]
But, as usual, the news on the Britney front isn't all good. Not only has the Canterbury Institute decided to target Britney Spears in their Don't Die ad campaign (much like they did to Lindsay Lohan last month) which runs today in the New York Daily News but the judge's ruling in the ongoing Spederline custody battle (the most recent hearing was last Friday) was released yesterday and, unfortch for her, Britney did not win back custody from her ex-husband Kevin Federline:
The decision is in -- Britney Spears has not regained custody of her kids. Issuing his order today, Commissioner Scott Gordon gave Spears three visits per week, two from 12:00 Noon to 7:00 PM and one overnight visit. The visits will be monitored. Spears and K-Fed are ordered to figure out holiday schedules with the kids. Britney must submit evidence that she childproofed her pool area by Friday. In the order, the Commish wrote that when Britney has the kids, "the environment at the house ranged from chaotic to almost somber with little communication at all." The Commish also recounts what the parenting coach complained of -- that "during all three of my visits, Ms. Spears rarely engaged with the children in either conversation or play." According to the report, the coach wrote, "It seems that [Britney's] choices are dependent more upon what she wants to do at any given time rather than what would be more enjoyable for the children." The coach also said Spears seemed to have a "lack of general attention at times" but there was nothing she "would characterize as abusive in a traditional sense." And then the most damning comment from the parenting coach: "The problem is that unless Ms. Spears realizes the consequences of her behavior and the impact that it has [on] her children, nothing is going to be successful." Sad but absolutely unsurprising in the least. Anyone at all familiar with THIS would know that Britney's life is extremely chaotic. It would seem that the parenting coach is of the same mind of pretty much anyone else out there who has been paying any attention at all to our dear Britney in recent months -- unless she learns how to alter her behavior in such a way as to put her children first, in front of absolutely everything else in her life, she will not be a successful parent. At this point, I'm not sure what it might take for 1.) Britney to learn that lesson and 2.) Britney to prove the court that she's ready to be a full-time parent. [Source]
Moving on ... celebs of varying caliber were on hand last night at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal City last night for the release party for the new Simpsons video game hosted by Electronic Arts. Here are a few pics:
Simpsons creator Matt Groening and The Simpsons themselves came out for the party ... as did celebs like Hanson, Shar Jackson and Ian Ziering. Fortunately for Shar and Ian the fact that they don't have anything else going on in their lives now that their reality TV shows Celebrity Rap Superstar and Dancing with the Stars no longer need them means that they could enjoy the party unfettered. At least Shar won her competition ... poor Ian can't even say that ... he must be praying for a new project to latch on to. Until then ... he'll prolly be shopping his pretty mug at all the parties he can. [Source]
In other animated news, the insanely hilarious Family Guy celebrated its 100th episode this week at an event at Social Hollywood in LA in front of the ep's airing this coming Sunday night. Here are a couple pics from the Family Guy party and the promo poster for the 100th episode:
You will note that the poster artwork suggests that viewers call 1-877-4-STEWIE which, when called, offers a fun little message from the Quahog Police. I'm a big fan of the show, their Star Wars episode which aired earlier this season was absolutely genius. I can't believe the show has been around for 100 eps already ... but they've got a long way to go to catch up with The Simpsons who've been on the air for about 20 years now. So far, they win! Here are a few amazing photos from Ashlee Simpson's Prom birthday party that was held earlier this month. Ashlee and co. teleported back to 1984 for her 23rd birthday shindig and it looks like everyone in attendance dressed the part ... behold:

LOL! I gotta admit ... this looks like it was one hell of a fun party. Not only is this the best idea I've seen in a long time but the authenticity of the outfits looks like it made for a special night for Ashlee. I love it! [Source]
Skye Sweetnam, who's album Sound Soldier was released in Canada yesterday (and can be ordered online HERE), made an appearance on MTV Live (also yesterday) for Candian MTV to do promo for the album. Here are a few pics from her interview:
Skye talked a bit about her experience with Britney Spears, who she toured with on her last tour, and explained how she initially thought the "weird guy" who was hanging around backstage on her European tour wasn't a new roadie but turned out to be Kevin Federline, Britney's future ex-husband. The interview is accompanied by a couple of performances by Skye but, sadly, cannot be seen outside of Canada. The interview, tho, is streamable for the rest of the world and can be seen HERE. Check it out. [Source]
On this side of the border, the Backstreet Boys are also workin' hard to do promo for their new album Unbreakable which was also released yesterday. Here are a few pics of BSB from their appearance on MTV's TRL yesterday afternoon ...

... and then from their cd signing at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square last night:

BSB are the last boyband standing from the gaggle of boybands who reigned supreme in the last couple years of the 90s and the first couple years of the 2000s. As every other boyband either fell or disbanded, the Backstreet Boys kept a loose confederation (losing only one member, Kevin Richardson, in the process) which allowed them to regroup again and release this new album. I'm not sure that the Boys will be able to enjoy the stunning success that they did back in their hey day but, I must confess, I've heard some of the new album and found it pretty entertaining. BSB fans will not be disappointed, Unbreakable is a classic Backstreet Boys album. [Source]
In extremely sad news, it is my sad duty to give a hearty Peace the Spork Out to veteran actor and singer Robert Goulet, who passed away yesterday at the age of 73 due to complications pulmonary fibrosis:
Robert Goulet, the handsome, big-voiced baritone whose Broadway debut in "Camelot" launched an award-winning stage and recording career, has died. He was 73. The singer died Tuesday morning in a Los Angeles hospital while awaiting a lung transplant, said Goulet spokesman Norm Johnson. He had been awaiting a lung transplant at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being found last month to have a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis. Goulet had remained in good spirits even as he waited for the transplant, said Vera Goulet, his wife of 25 years. "Just watch my vocal cords," she said he told doctors before they inserted a breathing tube. Goulet's death came as a bit of a shock to me since I had no idea that he was even sick. Robert Goulet has been starring in some very funny commercials for Emerald Nuts in recent months (which can been seen HERE) so it never occurred to me that he might be ill. I was not a big fan of his music but everyone pretty much knows who Robert Goulet is ... it's a shame that he can no longer be with us. [Source]
Roberto Cavalli, friend and designer for celebrities the world over, gave an interview this week that inadvertently revealed that Jennifer Lopez is, indeed, with child. And Roberto Cavalli would know, he's the one who designed all of the flowy, loose-fitting outfits that J. Lo has been wearing on stage and in public in recent weeks:
Designer Roberto Cavalli has officially confirmed what has been rumored for months: Yes, Jennifer Lopez is pregnant. (And as the man charged with designing outfits for her changing body, he should know.) Asked what types of clothing he designs for his celebrity clients, he told PEOPLE exclusively on Tuesday, "Well Jennifer Lopez, at this moment, she requests something very special because she is waiting for the baby. It is so complicated because every week she is getting bigger," added the designer, speaking from his celebration promoting Roberto Cavalli Vodka at his New York showroom. Cavalli designed multiple loose-fitting and flowing outfits for the 38-year-old singer, who is on tour with husband Marc Anthony. "The thing about Jennifer Lopez, she is a singer, she is a dancer," said Cavalli. "Most of the time when I prepare something for the tour, the performer, they want something very soft so they can dance and so they can move free" ... A rep for Lopez did not immediately return calls for comment. So, Roberto Cavalli is but the latest of intimate friends to J. Lo and Darc Anthony to confirm what pretty much everyone else on Earth seems to already know. Still, alleged parents-to-be Jennifer Lopez and Darc Anthony have yet to offer any official confirmation. At the rate at which her stomach is growing, it really can't be much longer now. [Source]
Yesterday I wondered if I was the only person who was not being wowed by this second season of Heroes and it turns out that, yes, I am not alone. The show is pulling in 3 million less viewers than it was last season and, in a new interview, Heroes creator Tim Kring is downplaying the numbers. According to him, we, the TV viewing audience, are just not watching the show properly and that we need to be taught how to watch the show in the correct manner ... and that is why we're not getting it:
Heroes has been on the tips of television-viewers' tongues a lot this year, but not for the same reason as last season. The superhero show was a breakout hit last year, but this season it has been the target of critics who cite disjointed storylines, too many characters, and a lack of direction for disappointing fans. Viewers have also tuned out; last week's episode rang in the worst numbers in the key 18-49 demographic ever for the series, according to Nielsen Media Research. But there's one man who isn't fazed and thinks fans shouldn't be worried either: series creator Tim Kring. Speaking with The Los Angeles Times, Kring dismissed the numbers much like many other television executives have: DVRs, online episodes, the Internet. What's more, ratings drops are taking their toll on almost all shows, not just Heroes. As for the rest of the criticism, Kring is promising that it will all make sense. "It will all be paid off by episode 11," Kring said. "From seven to 11 are the best episodes we've ever done." The Heroes crew has always said that this current season would be split up into "volumes," with the current one, titled "Generations," concluding midseason ... "Part of what happens on any show is that you enter a relationship with your viewers where you teach them how to watch your show and they teach you what they seem to be responding to," Kring said, reports the Deseret News. "And we, I think, are in this process right now of teaching the audience how to get used to the idea that not everybody is going to be in every single episode." Some think that Heroes is just undergoing a sophomore slump. However, Kring may be thinking that viewers are looking at season two a bit too harshly by elevating season one unrealistically. "People tend to look at last season and see things in it that were not in it. We haven't deviated that much [from last season's formula]." See, I've been watching TV for a very long time ... so I think I know what I'm doing. My complaint isn't that all the characters aren't featured in every episode ... and if Tim Kring thinks that's the problem with the show this season then he's the one who is really not getting it. The storyline is moving way too slowly at this point and nothing of substance is happening to keep the viewers interested. I believe that the show is going to get better and I'm really looking forward to these amazing eps. 7 thru 11 but I take some offense that the show's creator seems to be blaming the audience for the slump in ratings. If your show appears boring then folks aren't going to want to tune in ... plain and simple. It seems that the show needs to pay more attention to the product they're putting out and less attention to teaching the viewing audience how to watch TV. [Source]
Vicki B. is proudly showing off her new darker locks and, dare I say it, she looks lovely doing so:
VB may still appear to be an unfeeling, plastic robot-woman but with this return to her darker hair color, she looks more like the unfeeling, plastic robot-woman that we all came to know and love in the first place. I say no more blonde hair for Posh ... she can leave that look to her hot hubby David Beckham. [Source]
And speaking of that hot hubby of hers, here are a few pics from Becks's pictorial in the new issue of Arena magazine:
Yum, yum, yum. The man just looks hawt in pretty much every single picture he takes. How is it that a wife-beater t-shirt can look so wrong on a guy like K-Fed but sooooo right on a guy like Becks? Hmm ... that is the existential query of the day. [Source]
Speaking of yum ... here are a couple pics of Mario Lopez showing off his hot bod in a little gladiator costume that homeboy wore to a pre-Halloween party this past weekend:

With a butt like this one, it'd be criminal to keep it hidden away. I wholly approve of this costume. [Source]
AND SPEAKING OF YUMMY HOT BUTTS THAT SHOULDN'T BE HIDDEN AWAY, here are a few screencaps from the upcoming 3rd season of the show Dante's Cove which airs on here! Networks. The new season had its premiere on October 19 and features new castmember Reichen Lehmkuhl doing what he does best:
Click above to see larger, uncensored NSFW images
I've never been particularly fond of Reichen's acting prowess (having suffered thru his movie The Scorned where he played a straight guy taught me a valuable lesson -- Reichen is sometimes better seen and not heard ... altho, he's not bad as the random waiter on The Young and the Restless from time to time ... but I'm getting off point) but I'm deffo gonna hafta tune in to the new season of Dante's Cove to see Reichen's abilities first hand with my own eyes. Mmmm ... I hope there is more of this sort of stuff to be had on the show. [Source via Source]
The "official" Joker website WhySoSerious.com that goes along with the promo machine for the new Batman sequel The Dark Knight has been updated with a new interactive game. Folks in different cities are given instructions and are asked to take pictures in their cities to be sent in to the site:
Already, many folks in many of the cities have sent in their pics and a message is starting to take shape. Click HERE to see what's been revealed so far or to find out if your city has yet to be represented in the game. [Source]
And finally ... here is a whole slew of photos sent in by Pink is the new Blog readers dressed up in their various Halloween costumes. This year, there are a whole lotta Britney Spears' out there, natch:
Oh man ... I think the last pic of girls dressed up like Promises Rehab Center is my fave! But Amy Winehouse is also pretty popular this year as well:
Here are a bunch of various other costumes that are cute, scary and inventive:
Thank you all so much for taking the time to send in your pics. I couldn't post them all but I did want to post as many as I could make fit. Halloween is such a fun holiday ... thank you all for sharing your fun with all of us :) xoxo
