Don't Cry For He, Argentina

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, ya'll!! I hope some of you take some time today to read Dr. King's amazing I Have A Dream speech which I posted earlier today ... I also included a You Tube video of the actual speech if you'd rather see/hear it instead. I know that some folks are off work today and are devoting today to community service projects in their towns instead ... which means that blog readin' takes a back seat today. For those of you with me now ... I say, let's get to the day's goss ...

There has been some movement in Camp Britney over the weekend ... I'm not entirely sure what caused the shake-up but apparently, Britney Spears has grown tired of her latest toy, Finalpixx photog Adnan Ghalib, and has dumped his ass once and for all -- I think. Ghalib has not been seen in her presense for some time now and when asked, Britney now denies that she ever knew him:

Britney Spears seems to have moved on from her paparazzo beau Adnan Ghalib. When asked by a photographer on Sunday if she has a message for Ghalib, the singer responded in a British accent, "I don't know who that is... I have never met him before." The remark, taped outside of the Millennium Dance Studios in Burbank, has fueled rumors the couple have split. Spears also commented, "You are better off being homeless than being me, sir." Ghalib, 35 and married, has been with Spears, 26, since December. The day after she left Cedars-Sinai January 5, she ran away with him to Palm Desert. Last Sunday, Lutfi told X17 that "he is worried about Adnan's influence over Britney." Spears' best friend Alli Sims says in the latest issue of Us Weekly: "I do not think Adnan is a good person. I think he only has bad intentions. He has given me a weird feeling and creeped me out. I wish he would just go away."

OMG ... our dear Britney is so kooky! Well, I guess "creepy" Adnan Ghalib has finally gone away ... tho, I wouldn't necessarily count him out just yet. He did spend 2 years following Britney around with a camera. Even if she has expunged him from her life I'm pretty sure he's planning on sticking around. Click HERE to watch this video where British Britney talks about never meeting Adnan Ghalib. [Source]

BUT ... the exit of one person from Britney's intimate inner circle leaves room for another to take their place ... enter Sam Lufti, Britney's former bestie who was booted from Britney's side a few weeks ago and has, apparently, been graciously let back into her inner sanctum:

I don't know if having Sam back into her life is a good thing or a bad thing ... he always gave me the willies before so I'm not sure what is different this time. I would seem that Sam isn't a jealous hanger-on either ... he allowed Britney to pluck another lucky paparazzo from the throng of photogs that are always on her tail and bring him home with her to show off a restraining order that she apparently filed against Mr. Ghalib ... [Source]

... here are a couple pics of the X17 photog who is but the latest pap to find favor with Miss Britney Spears chillin' with the pink-wigged Britters over the weekend:

This from X17: So here's more of the story ... Last night at 2 am, Britney Spears invited two of our photographers into her Beverly Hills pad for a little conversation. They chatted for a while, then escorted Brit and Sam in the car, so Britney could drive around and listen to music. After that, it was back to the house ... The guys ended up staying with her for FOUR hours! Earlier in the evening, Britney went out to the gas station with Sam around 8 pm, then they came out again later in her Black Escalade, went to club Goa but never got out of the car. When she returned home after that second outing, was when she invited the photographers to come inside her home. Roberto and Leandro from X17online went inside ... Britney said, "Come with me, let's have fun." She opened a bottle of champagne for them and went outside on the patio to smoke cigarettes. Our photogs say Britney nursed a 1/2 glass of champagne the entire evening and never drank more. Britney put on Amy Winehouse and her own CD, changed into jeans and her famous pink wig. Sam and Brit's friend Chad Hardcastle was there too. Team X17er Robert said, "We had fun. Britney was funny, very relaxed, dancing a little bit, and she carried her little dog all the time." At one point in the discussion, Sam took a paper out of his pocket -- it was a restraining order against Adnan Ghalib. He said, "Look at this!" Britney expressed disappointment and anger toward Adnan for being "set-up" in photographs that Adnan and his agency have sold of Britney and Adnan together. Roberto and Leandro didn't ask questions -- they were surprised at the restraining order. After talking about it briefly, the continued having a good time and around 6 am, our photogs said they had to leave. Britney begged them to stay, but Sam insisted that she get some sleep. When the photogs left, lots of paparazzi who weren't invited in were waiting outside. (TMZ and Hollywood.tv were turned away at Britney's door at 2 am!)

OMG ... I'm so over all the crazy ... let's end today's Britness with a bit of positive news. People magazine is reporting that Britney is actually working these days, determined to learn a new dance routine for her next music video Hot As Ice:

With pup London in hand, Britney Spears headed to the Millennium Dance Complex in North Hollywood on Sunday night to work on a new routine, owner Robert Baker tells PEOPLE. "She is working on the choreography for her song 'Hot as Ice,'" Baker said, "She rehearsed an amazing routine with a chair." The intense dance session wrapped up a characteristically bizarre weekend, during which Spears invited two photographers back to her home for some late-night champagne. "She was very sweet," said one of the photographers, adding that Spears pal Sam Lutfi claimed to have "filed a restraining order" against Adnan Ghalib. Ghalib, the paparazzo who has been Spears's near-constant companion in recent weeks, shot back, "I am only now becoming aware of what is being said. I hope to be back home in Los Angeles soon and to be in contact with Miss Spears." (The L.A. police and sheriff's departments both said no emergency protective order had been issued.) Spears, 26 – who also dropped by PetCo Sunday afternoon, picking up a birdcage and some dog food – spent nearly three hours working on her moves at Millennium. She emerged at 9:30 p.m. in a white top and Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses, chatting with paparazzi and requesting the presence of Filipe, one of the photographers who had been at her home earlier. "Britney was in an upbeat mood," Baker said, adding that despite the impressive workout, the singer still seemed slightly scatterbrained. "I let her use my personal copy of Blackout. She forgot her own CD."

Personally, I am choosing to focus on the positive aspects of this weekend's shenanigans ... no more Adnan, a new music video ... there you have it. Let's move on before anything else crazy happens in the next 10 mins. [Source]

The Sundance Film Festival was in full swing this weekend and it is showing no signs of slowing down just yet. Here are a few pics of Sarah Jessica Parker, her hubby Matthew Broderick and Thomas Haden Church from the Sundance premiere of SJP and THC's new movie Smart People:

The movie also features everyone's current movie darling Ellen Paige but I'm not sure she was in the hiz for the screening. Can I just say that Matthew Broderick looks really damn good in these pics? I must admit, in recent months I haven't seen too many flattering photos of the man but he looks really good in these pics. Now that I'm all recently SaTC savvy, I have a hard time picturing him as SJP's hubby but I guess they do make a cute couple. She looks good too ;) [Source]

Elsewhere in Park City, UT, Jared Leto was spotted roaming the streets, with is bud Brent Bolthouse, at the Sundance Film Festival lookin' all kinds of hawt:

Try as you may, you cannot deny that Jared is a good-lookin' piece of man. Woot!! [Source]

Back here in SoCal, Lindsay Lohan got papped in a fairly unflattering light just as the wind kicked up enough to blow up the back of her skirt ... tho, this isn't the worst news for her today. The nominations for the 2008 Razzie Awards are out and L. Lo has scored two noms for the same role in last summer's I Know Who Killed Me -- chief among her noms is the one for Worst Actress for her work in the flick:

Lindsay Lohan landed her first nominations of the 2008 awards season Monday. But it's probably best to leave this one off the résumé. The 21-year-old actress was recognized by the Razzies – the annual awards show recognizing the year's "worst" films and performances – for her part in the thriller I Know Who Killed Me. In fact, she earned two nominations for a single role. The movie – in which Lohan plays two characters, a stripper and an abducted small-town girl – led the pack with a total of nine nominations, including one for worst picture of 2007. "I Know Who Killed Me is the most fabulously brainless movie since Showgirls," Razzie founder John Wilson told the Associated Press. "By the end of it, you still don't know what happened. Are they twins or aren't they? Did she imagine it? Can I please have my hour and 50 minutes back?" ... Razzie "winners" will be announced Feb. 23, the day before the Oscars.

I love Lindsay very much but I'm afraid I have to concur with this assessment of her movie. I was one of the 18 people on Earth who paid to see this movie and I must admit, it was pretty wretched. I somehow doubt that news of this Razzie nomination is going to have an adverse affect on Lindsay so I'm sure she'll be OK. To be honest, I bet she'll be pissed if she loses. [Source]

Here are a couple pictures of Heath Ledger on the set of his new movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus:

Is it me or is this new movie shaping up to be the sleeper hit of the season? [Source]

Here are new pictures of Matthew McConaughey and his babymama Camilla Alves going about their regular bizznazz this weekend:

Looks like Matthew shows no signs of altering his routine just because he's about to become a daddy. I think it's great that Matthew is keeping up with his workout schedule ... Hollywood is in short supply of DILFs these days. [Source]

Pink reader Su, from Atlanta, GA sends in these pics from Pure nightclub where Lauren LC Conrad was a special party guest this weekend:

Since filming on The Hills has taken a bit of a hiatus, LC is freed up to fly around the country to make special appearances at nightclubs like this ... [thanks Su]

... additionally, Speidi are also freed up to do some nightclub partying as well. Pink reader Michelle sends in a few pics of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt partying this weekend in Toronto, Canada at Rockwood nightclub:

Michelle and her friends managed to finesse their way into the VIP area so that they could mingle with Speidi ... Michelle reveals that Heidi "is the sweetest girl ever" and that Spencer is "actually quite nice in person" -- which I must confirm is true. Say what you will about The Hills gang on while they are on TV, they are all very personable and very nice in person. If any of The Hills folk come to party in your fair city, you should go out and say hello ... they are really very cool to hang with. [thanks Michelle]

Happy Day! Happy Day! Kiefer Sutherland has been sprung from his 48-day jail sentence this morning after serving the entire length of his sentence (which is fairly unheard of in Hollywood):

After 48 days behind bars, Kiefer Sutherland was released from incarceration Monday morning at a Glendale, Calif. jail. The actor left at 12:05 a.m., according to jail spokesman John Balian. "[Kiefer] looked like he was glad to be out," said Balian, who added that the actor was wearing a shirt and jeans when he left, and took home whatever personal belongings he originally brought with him. Sutherland, 41, served his entire sentence for a second DUI conviction and for violating probation. He spent his birthday, Christmas and New Year's at the Los Angeles-area facility. "Throughout his stay, he never griped, never complained," Balian previously said. "He never wanted preferential treatment from the get go, and we respect him for that." Sutherland was housed alone in an 8 by 10 foot cell, but was not confined to it, having access to a larger day room with a TV. The actor was only visited by his attorney. The 24 star did not include any family or friends on his visitor request list. (His doctor was the only other approved visitor). Sutherland kept largely to himself, having scant contact with other inmates, Balian said.

Now why am I not surprised that Kiefer Sutherland was a model prisoner. I can't help but think of Jack Bauer when I think of Kiefer so it seems very natural to me that Jack, er, Kiefer would be a good boy behind bars (after all, he's done enough time on the hit show 24). Kiefer still has community service and probation to serve out but he is, thankfully, a free man again. I sincerely hope that he learned his lesson ... I'd hate to see Kiefer get in trubs again ... or worse. [Source]

And finally ... it gives me great pleasure to report that Cloverfield (a movie that I have done my best to champion for some time now) was not only the #1 movie at the box office this weekend but it broke the record to have the highest grossing January weekend ever:

The creature-feature "Cloverfield" became the first monster hit released in 2008, debuting with $41 million, a record opening for January, according to studio estimates Sunday. Paramount's tale of a giant reptile causing chaos in New York City surpassed the $35.9 million premiere weekend of the "Star Wars" special edition in 1997, the previous best for January. Opening in second-place was 20th Century Fox's romantic comedy "27 Dresses," starring Katherine Heigl as a perpetual bridesmaid. It pulled in $22.4 million ... Featuring a cast of unknowns, "Cloverfield" tells its monster story from the perspective of a partygoer's hand-held video camera, which captures the mayhem as the creature tears through the city. The film benefited from cryptic marketing that sent young moviegoers on a scavenger hunt to decode clues about the movie's plot, images and even its title, which was not confirmed until shortly before its release. "As we started it, we asked, how do we draw people in and have them say, `Hey, I want to know more about that. That looked cool, that looked intriguing,'" said Rob Moore, Paramount vice chairman. "Then fortunately, they delivered a movie that was as unique and engaging as people had hoped from the marketing campaign."

Yay! I am so happy at this news. I really want movies like this to succeed so that they inspire other creative film makers and movie studios to putting out innovative and inventive movies that aren't your straightforward, run-of-the-mill movies. I keep saying that Cloverfield looks very realistic -- well, as realistic as you can be with a monster movie. At this point, the hype is huge ... which is good and bad. My fear is that folks who haven't seen it yet will now go in expecting to see something that can never live up to overwhelming hype. Again, I urge those of you interested in seeing this movie to go in with an open mind, try to forget all the hoopla you see in the media (even from me) and see it for what it is ... a really fun movie. [Source]

Here's some more Cloverfield fun ... Pink reader Lauren gave me the head's up that the principal characters in the movie each have a My Space profile of their own ... could there be more secrets to the film hidden in there somewhere? Check 'em out:

Beth's My Space
Hud's My Space

Les News:
Last night Jordan, Darion, Mike, Paul, Jim, Derek and I were all invited to attend the 2008 Mr. Gay International competition which was held at The Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theater. Basically, contestants representing their countries from all over the world came to Hollywood to compete in this event not merely as beefcakes but as gay representatives from their countries (some of whom had to face much negativity in their homelands just to compete in their own countries). The show was fun but also did its best to highlight the importance of gay visibility and advocacy. Here are a few pics from last night's fun:

But ... as with any pageant ... there has to be a level of hawtness ... so here is a short vid clip from the Swimwear portion of the competition:

Woot! Yeah, we had a blast. The show was full of a lot of fun surprises ...

... and we got to meet our fave contestants at the afterparty. I was rooting for Mr. Gay UK the entire time (he was the megahot cop with the sexy accent) but Mr. Gay Brazil, Mr. Gay Ireland and Mr. Gay Argentina were also our top picks ... in the end Mr. Gay Argentina won the top prize.

I also got to meet Pink reader Helen, from the UCLA sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma, who was among the beautiful ladies chosen to act as escorts for the contestants ... Helen was Mr. Argentina's escort so she was the winning lady of the evening :) Much, much love goes out to John for taking such good care of my friends and me last night. We had a complete blast!!!

OOOH and one last thing ... my bud Justin, who was among our group to see Cloverfield on Friday night, managed to snap a different picture of Trent Reznor and me and sends it along:

You may notice at this angle you can see a hint of a smile on Trent's face. LOVE IT!!

And ... I'm out.
