Super Bore Bowled Over

It's Super Bowl Sunday ... the day that football fans wait all year long for ... but for me, it's just another Sunday. I don't really have a vested interest in the game today -- in fact, the only vested interest I think I've ever had in the Super Bowl was when Detroit Rock City played host to the Super Bowl game a couple of years ago. That being said, I know that David's brother Aram is rooting BIG TIME for the New England Patriots in today's match-up so maybe I feel so fealty to them? But on the other hand, the New York Giants are reppin' the great state of New York (my new home away from home) ... so maybe I should have allegiance to them? How bout I just root for the best team to win and I'll bestow my congrats afterwards? Yeah ... that seems like the safest course of action to me :)

There is no real new Britney Spears news to be had today ... in fact, now that it has been officially determined that Brit Brit's stay at the UCLA Medical Center has been extended into a 14 day evaluation period, we might not have any new official information from our dear Britney for the next 2 weeks. To be honest, I much prefer it this way. I am so encouraged that she FINALLY seems to be getting real help from trained medical professionals and AT LONG LAST the people that have taken control and are making the important decisions concerning her medical welfare ARE NOT ON HER PAYROLL (ie. they are not mindless yes men who will bend to her every erratic whim). I think 2 weeks of no Britney Spears news because she is ensconced away in a place that is working to make her better will be a very welcome change. I do have one bit of Spearsness to share today ... the rabid paparazzi, desperate to get any an all information on Britney (who is a big cash cow for them) have now turned their attention to Team Spears ... and Mama Lynne Spears in particular. Unfortch for them, Mama Lynne ain't havin' any of it:

THIS video of Mama Lynne slappin' a pap's video camera out of her face is amazing. Hee hee ... it made me smile today :) Take care of our dear Britney, Mama Spears ... we'll be thinking about her and hoping for a successful recovery. [Source]

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (and perhaps a burgeoning baby bump) made an appearance at the Arlington Theatre at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival where Angie herself was honored with the SBIFF Outstanding Performance of the Year Award. Here are a few pics of Brangelina on the red carpet last night:

The focus was on Angelina Jolie at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Jolie, 32, won the festival's "performance of the year" honor for her role as Mariane Pearl, widow of journalist Daniel Pearl, in the film A Mighty Heart. Her partner, Brad Pitt, 44, accompanied her to pick up the award on Saturday. Jolie, who wore a black blouse and loose-fitting floor-length skirt, looked lean and not obviously pregnant, according to the Associated Press, which along with the Los Angeles Times' website reported that publicists said the actress would not answer questions about a possible pregnancy. Speculation that she was with child again grew after she wore a loose-fitting gown to the Screen Actors Guild awards Jan. 27. Jolie said having Pitt and their children at her side helps her deal with the insanity of Hollywood. "I think it's the only way to juggle it," she said. The couple have four children: Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 1. Clint Eastwood presented the actress with her award. The Hollywood veteran directed Jolie in the mystery drama The Changeling, which opens in November.

Hmm ... I don't know that this outfit necessarily implies that she might be hiding a baby bump but it is pretty loose-fitting ... and the fact that her publicists (apparently, she is such a big star she needs multiple publicists) instructed all media folks that she would not be answering any questions even remotely related to a possible pregnancy does seem suspect. BUT, none of this is really the point ... the point is that Angelina was honored with the Outstanding Actress of the Universe Award at last night's event and so, for that, she must be congratulated ... so congrats! And I bet she is SOOO pregs. [Source]

Back here in LA LA Land, celebs of varying caliber made their way out to the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the 2008 Producers Guild Awards, where No Country For Old Men was the big winner yet again. New awards show darling Ellen Page led the way on the red carpet last night ... here are a few pics of some of the celebs that came out for the shindig:

The Producers Guild of America has heaped another accolade on filmmaking duo Joel and Ethan Coen, awarding their crime tale No Country for Old Men the top trophy at its annual film awards. The guild announced Saturday it has picked the Coen brothers drama —based on the Cormac McCarthy bestseller — as the year's best feature film, awarding the two brothers and Scott Rudin its Darryl F. Zanuck producer of the year trophy. The film has also won a host of critical honours, as well as the top prizes from the Directors Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild ... The Producers Guild also awarded honours to many other feature films and television productions, including:

Animated film: Ratatouille
Documentary: Sicko
Episodic TV comedy: 30 Rock
Episodic TV drama: The Sopranos
Live entertainment/competition TV: The Colbert Report
Long-form TV: Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee
Non-fiction TV program: Planet Earth

It's about damn time that Planet Earth won itself an award. Planet Earth has to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen ... and for sure, it's the coolest documentary I've ever seen. I'm not surprised that No Country For Old Men keeps winning awards ... it seems to have been chosen as the awards show favorite this season ... I fully expect it to win the big enchilada at the Academy Awards later on this month. [Source]

Heidi Klum, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Liza Minelli, Ashanti, Ana Ortiz, Jenna Fischer and others strutted their stuff down the red carpet runway at the The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection fashion show at Bryant Park at NYC Fashion Week this past Thursday to raise awareness about heart disease. Here are a few pics of these lovely ladies all decked out in their red hot outfits earlier this week:

Red-hot celebrities Ashanti, Joss Stone and Molly Sims donned sexy, sassy crimson-colored dresses at yesterday's "The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection," a show to raise awareness about heart disease. First Lady Laura Bush - in a questionable white suit, red lips combo - opened the morning's festivities with a short speech. "Nothing draws attention like a little red dress," she said. The supermodels and superstars - Heidi Klum in Marc Jacobs, singer Joss Stone in Max Azria Atelier and "24"s Mary Lynn Rajskub in Monique Lhuillier - helped spread the word. "Dancing with the Stars" Lisa Rinna, in Michael Kors, showed of her best moves as she wiggled down the runway, stopping at the end for a quick sultry shimmy directed towards actor-husband Harry Hamlin. Other dancing divas included Rita Moreno who did a little salsa in her tight Lily Samii and Ashanti who shook her money-maker in a tight Tracy Reese. Liza Minnelli, in Halston velvet beaded pants and a beaded twin set, lent her voice to the cause, belting out "New York", even though she did flub the lines.

Hahahaha ... poor Liza. But, I love it -- Fashion Week is all about fashion but I love when special events like this get incorporated in as well. The ladies looked amazing in their red dresses ... and the event raised awareness for an important cause. Love it!! [Source]

Yikes ... hold on to your horses, y'all. Amy Winehouse has sprung herself from rehab ... or so it seems. Miss Amy was spotted roaming the streets of London for the first time since she said Yes, Yes, Yes and let herself get dragged away to rehab:

I suppose it's possible that she is just out on a day leave from her rehab program or something like that (and, trust me, it is my sincere hope that she is still committed to a rehab treatment program) but I'm not entirely sure that I trust that Amy Winehouse is all that interested in getting rid of her vices. I suppose if we see new pics of a bloody Amy shopping for popsicles at 4AM again then we'll know that her stint in rehab was unsuccessful ... yet, again. [Source]

Clearly Tom Cruise is desperately in love with his wife Katie Holmes ... I mean, just look at the way he lovingly holds on her hand as they walk together in public:

It doesn't at all look as if he's twisting her wrist to make sure that she understands that he is in control when they are around "people". Sure looks like lurve to me. [thanks Doug]

Mel C, who it has been reported is tired of being reunited with the Spice Girls for their not-quite-as-successful-as-planned Reunion Tour, made a fan of hers very happy when she obliged to sign an autograph on an officially licensed Mel C Spice Girls Action Figure in Montreal, Canada this weekend ... here are a few pics:

Hee hee ... it would seem that Sporty isn't at all tired of the Spice Girls love when she is the sole recipient. Even still, I think it was really cool of her to take the time to sign the autograph and pose for pics. She is a good Sport after all. [Source]

Pink reader Kasey gave me the heads up that Aaron Carter has updated his official My Space profile with a cryptic message for "Hilary" -- which would imply, Hilary Duff, his ex-girlfriend from waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day. Here is a screen shot and the full text of Aaron's message to Hilary:

EVERYBODY MAKES MISTAKES, BUT YOU LIVE AND YOU LEARN. HILARY WHEN YOUR READY. IM HERE. I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR WHOMEVER PUT THIS TOGETHER. IT MEANS A LOT TO ME.

The thank you is in regards to a You Tube video that some fan named SCSweetdude16 in tribute to the love that Aaron and Hilary used to share when they were together and wishes they still shared today ... and is posted right underneath his message (click HERE to watch it -- it'll make more sense). Hahhahahaha ... could a reconciliation be in the works? Could Aaron and Hilary make it work again? I guess only time will tell ... and perhaps in the meantime Aaron will learn the difference between "your" and "you're" and will learn how to use the right one properly. [Source, thanks Kasey]

And finally ... it's time for the Hot Dude of the Week ... this week we have a new Mike to say hello to (this week's dude is Mike G. not Mike S. who was featured last week):

Smoldering eyes, ample muscelage and pasty whiteness all conspire to make a hawt dude worth salivating over. You can tell that Mike likes to tease by the way he's holding up his shirt and has, so graciously, unfastened his belt and unbuttoned his jeans just so ... hahahahha ... I ain't complainin', that's for sure. Enjoy!! [Source]

Les News:
Yesterday was a fairly chill day ... because David and I slept in late, most of the afternoon was spent with me working ... but we did manage to spend a lot of our last remaining hours together trying to figure out how to get my new Slingbox working. Without going into details (because it makes me want to SCREAM every time I think about it) we weren't able to get my Slingbox configuration to successfully broadcast my DVR signal to the Internet. At this point, I've pretty much exhausted everything I know to get it to work and ... nothing. Blah.

But, I did manage to have a good time last night irregardless of my frustration. Darion and I met up with my friend David and his friend Jamie for some dancing at Akbar:

OMG ... we had an absolute blast. David and Jamie are just too much fun ... they rule. We got to dance to Britney Spears, natch, but also Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, The Go-Gos and more ... it was just way too much fun.

After dancing, Darion and I went out for some late night eats at Mel's Diner in Hollywood and then called it a night. It did rain lightly last night ... which had me worried but, thus far, my clean carpet is still clean and unsoaked.

I'm spending this afternoon with Mike (we may watch football but more likely we'll order take-out and watch MTV or something). This coming week is going to be really hectic as I prepare for my trip to NYC at the end of the week ... and then David's and my trip to Amsterdam next week for our 2 year anniversary. Woot! Fun times!!

And that is that ... I'm out.
