It's The End Of The World As We Know It

Whew ... I've been posting a few Year-End Wrap-Up posts this morning (which is why the site is taking a lot longer than usual to load -- there are a lot of pics showing up on the main page today -- dial-up users beware) and will do the same tomorrow morning ... there is a lot of fun stuff to remember from this year. There is also a lot to talk about for today ... so let's get to it ...

This morning I woke up to the sad news that one of the more prominent Britney Spears fan sites, World of Britney, is closing down at the end of January 2007. Ruben, the site's webmaster, posted a message on the site explaining why he has decided to shut down the site. So, instead of trying to paraphrase what his reasoning is, I'll just let y'all read what he wrote:

I'll admit that I'm a little bummed that World of Britney is closing down for good ... but you know what they say about all good things. I, myself, have questioned where my insane loyalty to Britney Spears comes from and altho I've threatened to stop loving her before (jokingly) I don't really see that happening any time soon. In any regard, best of luck to Ruben in his new endeavor (his new site sounds awesome) and I look forward to welcoming him to the blogosphere. [Source]

The Apollo Theater in Harlem, NY is all ready to host the body of James Brown. The theater will be displaying his body for public viewing starting today and for the next few days ... here is a shot of the famous Apollo marquee taken this morning:

Fans of the late "Godfather of Soul" began lining up outside Harlem's Apollo Theater early Thursday to pay their last respects as James Brown's body was driven from Georgia for his last date on the historic stage. A horse-drawn carriage waited to take Brown's casket through the streets of Harlem to the theater to begin three days of wakes, remembrances and a funeral of the kind normally reserved for royalty ... The Rev. Al Sharpton, Brown's close friend, raced through the night in a van with the casket to make sure the late singer did not miss his date. "He was a superstar for common people, and I wanted to make sure that common people got to see him one last time," Sharpton told The Associated Press shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the start of his journey from Georgia to New York. "It's going to be a royal day in Harlem," Sharpton said. He promised "the kind of homecoming we haven't seen in a long time, if ever, in the Harlem community" ... "We're determined to make sure he makes the Apollo," Sharpton said. "He never missed the Apollo. If we ride all night, that's fine." The Apollo Theater prepared for long lines of people paying their respects to Brown, whose unique style of soul and funk left a large imprint on hip-hop, disco and rap music. Of course James Brown was not a perfect man, in fact he did some pretty terrible things in his lifetime, but there is no denying that he is a hero to millions of people for the right reasons. His impact on modern popular music is hugely impressive and I think it's fitting that he is being honored as the man we all wish and want him to be -- a soul music legend. [Source]

David and Victoria Beckham emerged from a 3-hour dinner date with Hell's Kitchen chef Gordon Ramsey and his wife at the Zuma restaurant in Knightsbridge, UK. Here are a few pictures of Becks and Posh as they stepped into the cold wintry London night:

Ya wanna know how I know it was cold out? These last two pictures of Posh are poking me in the eye right now. [Source]

Here are new pictures of Madonna on her latest trip home from the gym ... note that she is wearing a pair of her limited edition trackpants made exclusively for her and sold by H&M:

Hee hee ... I guess there is someone out there who actually wears those things. I'm sure her new H&M fashion line, M by Madonna, will fare better in the sales dept. [Source]

Hilary Duff has packed up her Louis Vuitton luggage and has left the lovely city of Vancouver, BC ... here is a picture of Miss Duff as she arrives at the airport:

It looked like she had a smashing time in Vancouver with her big sis Haylie. I wonder where she is jetting off to for the New Year? [Source]

Meanwhile, Paris Hilton is on the other side of the planet right now ... she arrived in Sydney, Australia today (the 28th) and as soon as she was able to put down her luggage, she grabbed a couple of necessary accessories -- hanger-on Kim Kardashian and her new FABULOUS Monogram Miroir Louis Vuitton bag (along with matching LV bikini) -- and headed straight for Bondi Beach:

See ... now this is the Paris Hilton I adore. She looks utterly outrageous ... and I love it! [Source]

Thankfully, Paris has abandoned her BFF Brandon Davis and left him to sun his ample body on a beach somewhere else:

Yeah, this picture makes me hate the fact that I have sight. [Source] has come upon these new pictures of Shannen Doherty at an event wearing a very see-thru white outfit sans bra:

I, uh ... don't know what to say about these pictures. Maybe she wanted to look extra hot since a bunch of old 90210ers got together for a little lunch reunion and failed to invite her to the party. [Source]

Dannii Minogue was among the performers at the Vision Australia Carols by Candlelight concert in Melbourne, AUS on Xmas Eve last weekend and since she looked so pretty in her red satin dress I figure we should take a look:

I'm sure it ain't easy living in Kylie Minogue's enormous shadow but I just love Dannii. Here's hoping that we'll get new albums from both Kylie and Dannii in the new year! [Source]

So ... remember all that buzz going around about how Jessica Simpson was secretly dating Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo? Yeah, apparently that was total hogwash ... it turns out that Romo is actually not-so-secretly dating American Idol winner Carrie Underwood (he even confirmed this news to the Journal Gazette newspaper last week). Here are a few screencaps from the Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles football game that took place on Xmas Day ... note the cute interaction betwixt these two:

OK, talk about Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson apparently was just fabricated rumor. But believe that the former Eastern Illinois quarterback suddenly a nationally known star for the nation's team is seeing former American Idol winning singer Carrie Underwood. "That one is true," Romo said. And then the rest of the article goes on to discuss some uninteresting news about how he's set to play in the Pro Bowl or some shizz like that. Interestingly enough, I watched this game on TV as it aired. I was at Sarah's Aunt Gina's place for Xmas dinner and the game was on (otherwise I'd've never have watched the game) and I kept wondering why Carrie Underwood was all over Jessica Simpson's supposed new man. Who knew that they were doing the nasty all along. These two actually make a cute couple ... we'll see if they can make a go of it. [Source]

In other football news, of which I usually know *nothing* about, it appears that Pittsburgh Steelers' kicker Jeff Reed has got a touch of the Pete Wentz fancy in him ... apparently, as the story via goes, Mr. Reed got shot down by a couple of chicks when he tried to pick them up ... so in retaliation he sent them a camera phone photo of what they were missing out on ... and of course, the ladies leaked the pictures to the InterWeb:

Click above to see the uncensored NSFWish image

Um ... I guess I can give this dude a Woot! Props for keepin' the lawn very manicured. The uncensored photo doesn't show everything but it shows enough to prolly make those chicks rethink their refusal to get their hands, as it were, on his biz. [Source]

So apparently there are a few Bratz dolls out there who like to cuss at their child owners ... and is it wrong that I think it's insanely cool that they do so? In case you think it's cool as well (or in case you still have that one child on your belated gift-giving list to shop for) here is a picture of Bratz Big Babyz doll Karaoke version, named Jade, that you want to be looking for:

Click HERE to watch a video of Jade saying the "f" word and the "b" word (unfortch the offending words are bleeped out in the video). Click HERE to purchase your own Jade doll and hear her say the "f" word and the "b" word to your heart's content. [Source]

Optimus Prime, leader of the Transformers faction the Autobots, makes his planetary debut on the cover of the Feb. '07 issue of Empire magazine:

It's funny ... I never pegged Optimus as a flamer. [Source]

Here's a little game for y'all to play ... can you guess which Hollywood wife was bestowed the honor of Best Wife presumably by her cheap-ass husband who thought this plastic award would be a great Xmas gift?

Click above to see who it is

I'm not sure if the teddy bear pin is a clue or not but there you go. Personally, I'm not sure I agree that she is the Best Wife in Hollywood but, then again, I wasn't conferred with on the selection. [Source]

And finally, I have to send out LOTS OF BIRTHDAY LURVE to my super, duper good friend Jim who turns older today:

Jim is deffo my very BFF in LA and oftentimes my partner in crime. I would be totally lost without him and I'm very much looking forward to our arrival back in LA so that we can celebrate his birthday in style (which, most probably, will involve Jim's favorite thing in the world -- male strippers). Happy Birthday, Jim ... I <3 you! XO

Les News:
Last night I got to hang out with my dear VLB Sarah at the Living Room in Berkley because it's been months since we've had the chance to hang out. In between our numerous Canjun Martinis, we managed to catch up on what's been going on in our lives over the past few months:

It was so great getting to spend time with her ... I hope we don't go months again before we get to hang out next.

Much love goes out to Jennifer and Maureen for treating us so well at the Living Room pretty much every time I get to go. I love your establishment and can't wait to come back again!

I have a super bizzy day today ... I'm meeting up with Sarah this afternoon for a quick shopping trip and possibly movie before we meet up with Ame and Matt (who are back in town from Nashville, TN) at Ye Olde Saloon in Royal Oak, MI ... but before all that ... you'll never guess who I'm having lunch with ...

... and that is all, I am out.
