To Blog, Or Not To Blog

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of bodyguard-turned-manny-turned-bodyguard Perry Taylor keepin' a close watch on Jude Law. As much as it pains me that he is no long associated with our dear Spederline, I think his prospects are much better working with Jude. Pink reader Eden sends in this picture taken by her cousin Lisa who ran into Jude in the French Quarter of New Orleans this past weekend. He was there doing an interview for his upcoming movie, All The King's Men, and had Perry along to guard his body:

Jude Law, his hot assistant and Perry Taylor make a great new trifecta. They might even give McGyllenStrong a run for their money ... all we need is this group of dudes to either strip down and go surfing or to lycra suit up and go bike-riding ... or some other such group activity that involves as little clothing as possible. The Perry watch continues! [thanks Eden and Lisa]

Hmmm ... so Jared Leto gave an interview to a blogger and in that interview explained his disdain for blogs and blogging in general ... which, in turn, means that bloggers all over the place are going to be commenting on his comments. In an interview with The Feed, G4 network's blog, Jared goes on the record to say "blogging should die a sudden death" and then continues to rant from there:

When asked why blogging needs to die, Jared responded thusly: It's just ridiculous. It's like a playground for four-year-olds. People say and do things in the world of blogs that they would never do in real life, and I think it's a false experience. You know, it's, like, eating too much candy. This is utterly hilarious to me. The rest of the interview goes like this:

G4: So you don't read a lot of the celebrity gossip blogs, I take it?

JARED: Well, you know, one of the things along those lines that bothers me about when people start citing blogs as news sources is that when people are writing on these blogs, they feel like they don't feel they need to do any research or back up their opinions with facts or anything, you know what I mean?

G4: Why is there this inherent lack of responsibility when it comes to blogging as journalism?

JARED: I couldn't tell you. Times have changed. It used to be, to be a writer you had to have experience and talent, and learn a craft. Now anybody with an opinion, which is anyone and everyone, feels that it's worthy. Technology is allowing people to have access to things where before it required very great skill. So there will be some interesting developments from that, and also some things that are pretty worthless. Pretty soon anybody with a cell phone is going to be able to be a news reporter. The blog is yesterday's parachute pants. It's here now but it's gone tomorrow.

G4: You no longer have to even know what news reporting is.

JARED: You really don't. All you have to do is point your friggin' Blackberry at somebody and get a picture and send it off to your favorite blog site.

G4: A celebrity goes to a Starbucks and there's a picture of them 10 minutes later up on a blog somewhere and it becomes news!

JARED: Sometimes it's interesting, but most of the time the bloggers themselves are just trying to get famous so they can make some money and sell advertising dollars and duping these poor people who are on the internet all day long.

G4: Yeah, those people are lame. Anyways, I gotta run and go post this on G4's blog, TheFeed, so I can make some money, sell advertising dollars and dupe those poor people who are on the internet all day long. Suckers!

This rocker wannabe actor has a lot of strong opinions on the subject of blogging. And while I would never say that those opinions aren't valid, I will say that I find a lot of hypocrisy in his statements -- "Pretty soon anybody with a cell phone is going to be able to be a news reporter", yeah kinda like any actor is able to be a musician and vice versa. Is he so afraid that so many eyes may be on him? This, from a very attention-starved celebrity?! I knew it would only be a matter of time before celebs would publicly rail against blogs in the media ... the phenomenon has gotten too big to be ignored by them. It would seem that because there is no sense of control of the blogosphere (i.e. celeb publicists do not have the same influence over bloggers the same way they do on the media at large), then some celebs would feel animosity against that lack of control. I find it strange that he would say that he is against any regular person having the forum to voice their opinions. I think it's great that advancements in technology affords regular people the opportunity to say what they want ... if the media is taking notice, all the better. Opinions do not belong solely to the rich and influential. Just because a news outlet would want to highlight the comments and opinions of a "regular person" it doesn't invalidate any other person's, famous or not, opinions. I guess I don't understand the argument. I, for one, will prolly continue to comment on Jared Leto because I find some of his work interesting. I find it very hard to believe that, as much as he says he hates blogs, he doesn't like the attention. After all, we are talking about a guy who wears cornstarch, silver Crocs and way too much make-up on the public stage. [Source]

Anyways ... let's move on ... here are a few captures from a fun little video taken by X-17 that features Lindsay Lohan dancing around and doing high kicks by herself in a dark alley:

Uhhh ... yeah ... I think I'd like to try some of those pain killers that Lindsay is enjoying. Click HERE to watch the video. [Source]

A bunch of celebs came out for the EA launch of the new XBOX 360 videogame GODFATHER THE GAME this past Tuesday night ... here are a few photos from that event:

I love events like these ... basically, you put the call out that you're throwing a party where you can enjoy an open bar while playing video games to your heart's content. Genius! Pete Wentz brought along Ryan Ross from Panic! At The Disco as his date ... obvs, cuz Ashlee Simpson is too bizzy trying to make it as a theater actress in London. JC Chasez and cuties Michael Copon and Josh Henderson also made an appearance. Celebs live a rough, rough life. [Source]

Awww ... man ... it must really be true love betwixt Kate Moss and Pete Doherty. Even after all the drama that he has been thru with and without her, Kate still remains true to her man. Here is a picture of Kate paying a little visit to Pete at the Priory clinic as he tries to clean himself up in rehab:

To clarify, Pete is in rehab due to the latest of his drug offenses and was allowed to go to the clinic rather than to jail. At any rate, I do hope that one of his stints in rehab will do the trick and save his life. Kate really must love him, tho ... he's pretty damn lucky. [Source]

Brad Pitt was photographed showing off a new tattoo earlier this week ... there is much speculation as to what the tattoo actually says ... I've managed to zoom in enough on the photo to get a clear look:

Awww, it looks like a pretty cool tattoo to me. [Source]

Xtina Aguilera really loves the color red ... sometimes, much too much. Here are a couple pictures of Xtina at an Us Weekly party this week:

Babe, we get it ... red is your signature color but sometimes it's a bit much. To her credit, she looks great in these photos. I will be happy, tho, when Xtina gets tired of her Boop-Boop-Bee-Doop phase. [Source]

Gwyneth Paltrow thinks you stink and she wants to remedy the situation. Here are pictures from the launch of yet another celebrity fragrance Pleasures by Gwyneth Paltrow:

Wouldn't it be Lovely if this Curious Fantasy that celebs think that we want to smell like them would end? [Source]

Paris Hilton and Stavros Niarchos paused to take a picture of themselves at the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood this week ... you know, I kind miss them as a couple:

Say what you will about Paris, she was kinda less irritating when she was coupled up with Stavros. Ahh, I miss the good old days ... Paris didn't sing back then. Incidentally, this picture highlights a bad angle for Paris ... she looks really bad from this side ... Blah! She looks a bit like Nicky Hilton. It's no wonder that she only lets photographers shoot her from only 3 approved angles. [Source]

Pink reader Mykah sends in these screencaptures of Siouxsie Sioux from a new video by Pam Hogg who I've never heard of but sounds a lot like she has been influenced by Alison Goldfrapp:

Unfortch, Siouxsie doesn't sing in the vid, she only appears a few times but the song isn't that bad and it's always nice to see Siouxsie in action. Click HERE to watch the video. [Source, thanks Mykah]

And finally, In Touch Weekly is publishing the last photos of Anna Nicole Smith with her son Daniel Smith before his untimely death last week, here is the cover of this week's issue:

A death certificate has been issued and Anna Nicole has been given permission to bury her son altho the cause of death is still "pending": Authorities issued a death certificate for the son of Anna Nicole Smith but left the cause of death undetermined pending toxicology tests, a lawyer for the former reality TV star's family said Thursday. The document will let the former Playboy Playmate bury her son, Daniel, who died September 10 at his mother's hospital bedside in the Bahamas, attorney Michael Scott said. Filed on Wednesday, the death certificate lists the cause as "pending chemical analysis," said Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez. "It is not unusual in instances where the cause of death cannot be determined to issue a death certificate," Gomez said. "This is not a matter of special treatment being given in this particular case." Scott also said Thursday that Smith, 38, planned to file documents registering the birth of her 2-week-old daughter, but he declined to reveal the girl's name. He added that Anna Nicole Smith has been granted permanent residency in the Bahamas, where she came to avoid media scrutiny during her pregnancy ... It will likely be two weeks before pathologists receive test results, said Scott, who is the attorney for Daniel Smith's estate. Authorities say there is no evidence of homicide or suicide. A private examiner hired by the family, Cyril Wecht, said in an interview from his Pittsburgh office that the son was taking a low dose of the antidepressant Lexapro at the time of his death but he did not know whether it was a factor. "We'll have to see if it proves to be an accidental drug-related death due to a couple of drugs in his system," said Wecht, who added that blood tests have ruled out the presence of alcohol and some drugs including cocaine, opiates and amphetamines. This whole thing is just so sad ... to give birth to a new child and then lose another child in such a short time period must be incredibly painful. I sincerely hope that Anna Nicole Smith will be able to grieve in peace and that she will eventually find happiness again. [Source]

Les News:
Yesterday was another amazing day here in Paris. David and I hopped the train for Versailles and made our way at a snail's pace. We mistakenly got on the slowest train in Paris (one that stopped at every single station and never went faster than 2 miles an hour) on our way out of town. It didn't matter tho, we got to enjoy a little nap along the way. But we finally arrived in Versailles and made our way to the Chateau and Gardens of the former French royals. The splendor and garish opulence there was astounding ... it is very hard to believe that the estate was a residence for one family. While the inside of the Chateau was magnificent, I think the Gardens are, by far, the more spectacular:

We spent a leisurely day enjoying as much of the Gardens as we could. We stopped to sit on the banks of the Grand Canal and kinda just let the day fade away. We didn't have time to make it out to Marie Antoinette's estate but we did have a marvelous time nonetheless. I am going to be bringing home some amazing memories when I return to the US tomorrow.

Today is our Louvre day ... it's chilly and rainy out, so it's the perfect museum day. I can't believe that my Parisian adventure is coming to a close. I could honestly stay here for another 2 weeks ... or longer! It's been amazing.

It's Friday, y'all ... I hope it's a good one for all y'all! I'm out.
