Slip & Slide

Ancient gossip columnist Cindy Adams, who writes for the New York Post, kicked up a bunch of drama yesterday for Britney Spears' people when she revealed in her column that there is trouble a-brewin' at Jive Records, Britney's record label, has halted recording of her new album because it "doesn't yet know what it wants to do" for fear that the album will bomb. Britney's peeps, aka Larry Rudolph, calls this talk hogwash ... I, for one, am worried in either case. Here are a few pics of the resort spa in Arizona where Britney is reported to have checked in on New Year's Day which very much looks like a Sanctuary to me:

Talk inside the company is that either it's redone, or they need to drop it - and her. When this recording session began, she'd just dumped Federline the Insect. It was not a good time in her life. To recharge her career, she reconnected with her long-ago first-time manager, the one who originally brought her to the heights, Larry Rudolph. But constant headlined misbehavior is stoking the problem. Jive fears she's alienating her fan base. Their fan base. Jive caters to a young music-buyer, and the continued atmosphere - drinking, bingeing, partying, whatevering, photos with no panties for a mother of two infants - is hitting sour notes. Besides, Jive is not in sync with the five tracks Brit delivered. Conversation in their offices is: If we bear the expense of a redo, is it possible that, down the road, because of the way she's going, we could end up with a really bad product? Or one that won't sell? The recording has stopped midway. Nothing more's been done because the company doesn't yet know what it wants to do. But that recent front page ain't helping. Meanwhile, Life & Style magazine is reporting that the Sanctuary spa that Britney retreated to after her crazy New Year's Eve night is just the first stop on her way to a real rehab center: After falling asleep (or, according to some reports, possibly passing out) at a New Year's Eve bash in Las Vegas, Britney Spears reportedly checked in to an Arizona spa for some good ol' fashioned R&R on New Year's Day. But some are wondering if a third "R" might be in the pop star's future -- could Brit be headed to rehab? According to Life & Style Weekly, who reported Brit checked into an Arizona spa called Sanctuary, the singer's parents are urging their daughter to enter therapy. "It's just been heartbreaking for her parents to watch Britney on this downward spiral," a Spears "insider" reportedly told the magazine. "It's so sad." Jive Records is refuting these reports, saying: "No rehab, and Cindy Adams' piece is inaccurate. No clue where she go her 'information.' Britney is in the middle of recording. We will have an album in 2007." Hmm ... yep, sounds like a very Britney way to kick off the new year. I guess we'll have to wait and see what comes of any of this ... I'd love to see a new album this year but I'd rather wait for quality if it would take a little longer. [Source]

In much happier, drama-less news, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt spent a quiet weekend down in Panama taking in the sights, pressing flesh with the locals and pretty much just hanging out ... here are a few pictures of Brangelina taking in the sights at a local art gallery and then meeting some fans on the street:

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have surprised fans in Panama City, visiting a souvenir shop, a colonial neighbourhood and the Panama Canal. When one resident yelled, "Are you Brad Pitt?" the movie star smiled and said, "Sometimes," according to the newspaper Panama America. Besides touring the capital, where they shopped for souvenirs and walked around a colonial neighbourhood, Pitt and Jolie yesterday visited a former US military base and the construction site of Panama's new Biodiversity Museum, designed by Frank Gehry, at the entrance of the canal in the Amador district. The newspaper said Jolie and Pitt were considering investing in the $A71.03 million project and also buying land in Panama. The museum, which will trace Panama's natural history, will include a botanical garden. It's amazing how laid back these two superstars can be. It's refreshing to hear that they were just chillin' out with the common folk instead of making a big scene about not wanting to meet or talk to anyone. As much as I hate that Brad smokes, he looks really cute in that last picture ... those are some lucky kids right here. [thanks Amalia]

Justin Timberlake, Sharon Stone and others were on hand for the Hollywood premiere of the new movie Alpha Dog at the Arc Light Cinemas last night ... here are a few pics from the premiere:

I dunno ... I got the sneaking suspicion that JT as an actor ain't gonna fly. Didn't his first movie Edison go straight to video without even a theatrical release? There's something about the trailer for Alpha Dog that just doesn't work for me ... we'll see if anything comes of this acting thing that he's going for. Incidentally, Cameron Diaz was noticeably absent from last night's premiere and after party ... which just adds fuel to the fire regarding reports of their break-up. [Source]

The NSFWness of 2007 gets a kick start already with these fun pictures of Ashlee Simpson trying to enjoy a little beachtime and unsuccessfully trying to keep her boobs in check ... I believe this would be the first wardrobe malfunction for Ashlee:

Eh, it's never too late to jump on the bandwagon. Let's just hope she doesn't move into the realm of the crotch slip ... that would be entirely too tragic. [Source]

Penelope Cruz found herself in pretty much the same predicament as Ashlee but she managed to keep herself contained:

Kudos and much props to Penelope for keeping her virtue intact! She has considerably more to work with than Ashlee does and still managed to keep everything covered. [Source]

But it's not all good news from the beach, I'm afraid ... BE WARNED ... the following image of Kimberly Stewart might instill night terrors in even the most valiant hearted people ... continue at your own risk:

This has got to be the funniest shizz ever! It would seem that Paris Hilton isn't as loved as she prolly things she is ... otherwise, why would someone chuck a piece of ice at her face as soon as she walked into Pure nightclub in Las Vegas earlier this week?

Too cold ... too cold ... er, sorry I meant too funny, too funny ;) [Source, Source]

Jermaine Jackson, doing his best to look as Michael Jackson as possible, is among the Z-list celebs who have been chosen for the new round of Celebrity Big Brother (a show I do not watch). Here are a couple pictures of Jermaine on the red carpet for an event for the show:

Boo! Was Tito Jackson too bizzy to be on the show too? At least LaToya Jackson got her ass on a somewhat more interesting reality show. [Source]

Jake Gyllenhaal has got himself a new friend:

Is this the end of the Trifecta Era? Who is this guy ... and what is his bizzness with my Jakey poo? He looks a little too Jason Whaleresque for my taste. [Source]

Here are a couple pictures of Busta Rhymes being taken in by the authorities on assault charges after he turned himself on Wednesday:

Police said that Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, was arrested late Wednesday when he surrendered to officers in Manhattan in connection with an alleged assault on December 26. While police did not reveal the nature of the alleged assault, local reports said Rhymes, 34, had punched and kicked driver Larry Hackett, who required hospital treatment after the fracas. Rhymes was last year charged with assault and accused of illegal weapons possession after allegedly attacking a man in New York. Police are also still seeking his cooperation in an investigation into the still-unsolved killing of a bodyguard almost a year ago. Dang Busta ... sounds like you've been a bad boy lately. So it's only the 4th day of 2007 and we've already had our first break-up (JT & Cam), our first nip slip (Ashlee) and our first arrest ... all we need is news of an engagement and a birth and we'll be all set with all the biggies in just this first week of January. [Source]

Here are a couple of cute pictures of Nicole Richie taking her little sibs out for a night at the movies to see Charlotte's Web:

It's nice to see that Nic isn't letting all the drama in her life keep her from spending quality time with her fam. So cute! [Source]

Parker Posey is on the cover of the new issue of Bust magazine:

I really think this Diana Prince look really works for her ... I wonder if anyone has considered that she might be a great actress to play the role of Wonder Woman in the movie. [Source]

Speaking of DC Super Heroes, there will be a whole slew of them coming on board this new season of Smallville ... here are a few pictures of some Justice Leaguers chillin' with Clark Kent in his barn ... and a couple pics of a scary new villain:

Smallville sounds like the coolest show I don't watch. I love all these young, sexy super heroes coming out of the woodwork. I'm not sure how I feel about Tori Spelling showing up on the show but ... she needs to make money somehow. [Source via Source]

PrettyOnTheOutside.com has done it again ... here is the latest creation which absolutely captures the spirit of the subject:

I think all that is missing is that lovely greasy glow that the real Brandon Davis is always rockin'. [Source]

And finally, here is the promo commercial for Prince's appearance as the sole Super Bowl half-time performer for Super Bowl XLI:

Click above to watch the video

I've been on a bit of a Prince kick ever since David and I saw him over the weekend at 3121 at the Rio in Vegas. There are rumors of a new album and a new tour in 2007 and I'd be down for either. Actually, I'm trying to figure out a way to get back to Vegas if only to see him perform one more time. [Source]

Les News:
David and I did a whole lotta nothin' last night. We were still pretty wiped from all of our travails so we ended up spending a quiet night at home together. I think we have a few errands to run today but I think we're gonna keep the rest of our time together pretty chill ... the warmer LA weather is a nice change from all the coldness I've been dealing with for the past few weeks. I might even wear shorts today :)

I guess that's it ... I am out.
