Funk You

A new round of tabloid mags are about to hit newsstands all over the country and you'll never guess who is the covergirl for 3 of the biggest tabs in the US ... I know, I know ... it's hard to believe but Britney Spears has made the cover of US Weekly, OK! magazine and Star (tho, I couldn't bring myself to post the cover of Star magazine, whose headline reads Britney to her Kids: You Were Both Mistakes):

Confidentiality agreements be damned, former assistant Shannon Funk has apparently sold her soul to the devil and her stories about Britney Spears to the tabloids. OK! magazine seems to have scored the bigger coup, claiming that they have "exclusive photos", presumably from Shannon's own camera -- tho, their story angle that Britney's new "lover" is a woman seems to be taking things a bit far -- I'd imagine Britney would have better taste in chicks ... but I s'pose her tastes in men leave much to be desired so who the Funk knows? [Source, Source]

And speaking of photos from Shannon Funk's camera, BreatheHeavy.com seems to have scored a new photo from that infamous night that Britney met Matt Whatshisname and the two of them shared some nekkidness in the pool at The Standard hotel a few weeks ago ... BUTT this photo doesn't have Britney in it at all ... just Shannon and Matt showing the world their best sides:

Honestly, the photo isn't that racy at all but I figured I'd put the stars over their untanned asses anyways. Ms. Funk arrived back in SoCal last night from her recent jaunt to NYC (where she was chillin' with the folks at OK! magazine) and was met upon arrival at the Long Beach airport by, the now infamous, Aaron Cohen of IMS-Security who served Shannon with 2 subpoenas on behalf of Kevin Federline's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan. [Source]

Mr. Mark Vincent Kaplan is staring to become infamous himself, here are pictures of him and Britney Spears's lawyer Laura Wasser arriving at court earlier this week to square off in the matter of Spederline vs. Spederline:

Ya boy! These two have got a lot of work ahead of them and something tells me that they are going to become mini-celebs in their own right. Ms. Wasser looks pretty hot ... I could see her fitting in nicely at Hyde. Mr. Kaplan, on the other hand, looks more like a Les Deux bloke. [Source]

The magazine news isn't all (totally) grim for our dear Britney ... while she is splashed in an unflattering light across the tabs, she is also featured on the cover of the new issue of Allure magazine:

See, now this photo I can believe was taken recently (as opposed to that photo for Britney's new promo ad for her new fragrance Believe which is alleged to have been shot recently but looks nothing like she has looked recently). While this photo looks pretty good, Allure editor Linda Wells explains that it wasn't an easy shot to get ... and that once Britney left this shoot she never returned for her interview -- here are a few quotes from Wells's opening Letter from the Editor in this issue of Allure:

"I thought we could present the profile as her comeback. Britney showed up for Allure's cover shoot on time and ready to work. She was entirely unself-conscious: She took off her wig and then stripped down to the waist, for no apparent reason, before sitting for hair and makeup." Linda adds that Britney was "agreeable and cooperative," but "that was the last we saw of her ... she missed four appointments for an interview." She goes on to say that "Britney has long lost her role-model status ... Spears still commands our attention, perhaps even more so now than before her life imploded."

Well, you take the bad with the good, I guess. The problem is that the good is getting increasingly nonexistent. OY! [Source]

Alright ... moving on ... Mandy Moore, Billy Crudup and Bobby Cannavale were all on hand with director Justin Theroux for the premiere of their new movie Dedication at the Chelsea West Cinema in NYC last night. Here are a few pics from the red carpet:

Okay ... I get that Mandy was prolly going for a smoky, sultry look last night but it really didn't work for her. The make-up doesn't make her look sexy so much as it makes her look Asian (not that there's anything wrong with that). The guys, on the other hand, looked hot. You'd think that I'd have a problem with Bobby's unplucked eyebrows (and normally, you'd be right) but there is something about him that just looks really cute. I think I'd prefer if he stayed away from any overzealous eyebrow plucking ... one Jesse Metcalfe is quite enough, thank you very much. [Source]

In other (cuter) Mandy Moore news, Miss Thang had an "innocent" run-in with John Mayer in NYC this week and the two felt compelled to hug one another ...

... which, of course, means that they are now engaged. Honestly, I'd love it if Mandy and John got together ... I like her much better for him than, say, Jessica Simpson. They make a cute couple even if nothing comes of their friendship. [Source]

One last bit of Mandyness, she has become the latest person to do a cover of the insanely infectious Rihanna song Umbrella:

I think Mandy does a fine job with her version of this Rihanna hit. You may recall that singer/songwriter Scott Simons has also covered the song and there is some other chick another cover by a singer named Marie Digby on the radio right now with her own cover. Honestly, Scott's cover version remains my favorite but I like Mandy's version as well. Isn't it interesting that all of these white artists are covering Rihanna's song these days? [Source, thanks Lauren]

High School Musical 2 had its premiere at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA yesterday afternoon, here are a few pics from the red carpet that was rolled out in Downtown Disney:

With Lindsay Lohan locked away in a rehab facility in Utah it seems like her trademark red carpet poses are up for grabs ... both Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens busted out her moves on the red carpet last night. I don't know why Ashley Tisdale felt compelled to bring her dog to a TV movie premiere but something makes me think she's trying to be cute like Paris Hilton -- which is just a bad idea all around. While I was minorly entertained by HSM, I don't know that I'm that interested in HSM2 ... even Zac Effron told Rolling Stone magazine that he's not that interested in HSM anymore. I'm hearing that HMS3 will be made for the big screen one day ... which sounds about right -- Hollywood can't be finished with an idea until they beat it to death with sequels. [Source]

Speaking of Lindsay Lohan, an industrious prankster whipped up this Lost Dog poster and tacked it to the front of Paris Hilton's current home (which she just sold and will be moving out of any day now):

OUCH! This little gag seems a bit harsh to me but I suppose it's to be expected. You can visit the artist's My Space profile HERE and check out some of his other work. [Source]

OH look, I guess I can collect the reward of "all the change" in the artist's couch since I seem to have found Lindsay Lohan. Here is a pic of L. Lo taking a little break from her stint at the Cirque Lodge in Orem, Utah to visit the Beaches Tanning Center to spray on some new orange -- after all, she can't be the only person in rehab without a fake tan:

I seem to recall that Lindsay used to take "breaks" away from the Promises Rehab Facility in Malibu, CA the last time she tried to get clean and we know how that turned out. I just really hope that she's getting the help that she needs ... she looks happy and that's a good sign. I don't know how happy I would look if I knew I was headed to jail. [Source]

Maxim magazine is featuring "new" photos of Lindsay Lohan in their latest issue ...

... except the photos aren't really new since they were published in British GQ last year. Nice try tho. [Source, Source]

Wee! One of my fave Aussies, Natalie Imbruglia, was on hand for a special in-store performance at an Apple Store in London, England yesterday ... here are a few pics:

I totally heart Natalie and I'm glad that she's back on the scene. One of my first "in the field" celeb sightings once I move to LA last summer was Natalie Imbruglia at Toast on Third Street. I was having lunch and looked over at the table next to me and there she was. I had to fight the urge to start serenading her with her hit song Torn cuz I'm sure she loves it when people do that to her. I hope this performance means that she has some new music for release on the horizon :) [Source]

Good News: The insanely hot Chris Evans has been chosen to model Tom Ford's new collection in the September issue of GQ magazine:

Bad News: According to Marc Malkin's Planet Gossip, Chris has begun a campaign to keep his clothes on for a change instead of going shirtless every 5 minutes: No doubt we love seeing Chris Evans with his shirt off. But he sure looks good in a suit, too. It's no wonder GQ chose Evans to model Tom Ford’s new men’s collection in its September issue, on stands Aug. 20. In fact, Evans, who will next be seen opposite Scarlett Johansson in The Nanny Diaries, has tried to limit his skin-baring screen time. "I took it off for the first Fantastic Four," Evans tells writer Mickey Rapkin about going shirtless. "Then I read the script for the sequel. It's like, 'Why am I getting out of the shower in this scene?'" Evans, 26, says he tried lobbying director Tim Story to cut the shower scene. "I had two conversations with the director about it," he says. "He's like, 'You're right. You're right.' Then it wasn't discussed. Then a month before we started shooting, it's back in ... I'll have time to wash my credibility clean and get some clothes on." And to that I say, BOOOOOOO! F4:2 was such a horrrible movie that the only reason I didn't walk out was because Chris Evans had that shower/towel scene. Yes, it was absolutely gratuitous and had nothing at all to do with the plotline ... but that's what made it good and saved the movie for me (well, kept me from walking out, at least). I get that Chris doesn't want to become a movie beefcake ... and that's fine ... as long as he keeps doing those hot, shirtless photoshoots for the magazines then we cool. [Source]

Terri Hatcher is the new face/body for the Badgley Mischka Fall campaign ... here are a couple of pics:

Yay! It looks like they Photoshopped some meat on her bones. She doesn't look half bad. I think I'm impressed. [Source]

And finally, in order to clear up any uncertainty, Pussycat Doll frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger has confirmed to the German magazine Yam! that she and Talan Torriero (from MTV's Laguna Beach) are totally dunzo and that she is a free woman:

She told the magazine that she is "totally focused on [her] career right now" and that she "had to make that sacrifice". She went on to say that she "realized that there is no time for a love-life in [her] life today" because, apparently, her solo career comes first. Funny, she had time for him when she was fronting the Pussycat Dolls. Ah well ... I suppose it was good while it lasted. We'll see if Talan can score himself a new hottie soon. Isn't LC single these days? [thanks Yam! magazine]

OH and one last thing ... I have to send out lots of Birthday Lurve to Erik (yes, that Erik) who is celebrating his birthday today. I am so happy that we are friends again and I wish I could be back in Detroit to help celebrate his birthday with him today. Instead, I'll have to send my love and birthday wishes to him across the miles. Have a Happy Birthday, Erik! XOXO

Les News:
Okay ... so I was totally lame yesterday and I didn't really venture out into the summer sun like I said I was gonna. It was hot, y'all! I ended up doing some cleaning and got sucked into a marathon of season 1 of Project Runway (such a good show). Eh, I don't care ... it was nice having nothing to do for once.

I do have an appointment this afternoon so I guess I'll have to brave the heat. I should find out if any of my friends are in the mood for a pool party or something ... and then there's always the beach :)

So yeah ... that is all ... I am out.
