There Is Peace & Serenity In The Light

So by now I'm fairly certain that a great many of you have already watched Britney Spears's new video for Gimme More (admit it, even the haters prolly had a look or two), which was released on iTunes last night/this morning, but just in case you've yet to see it ... the vid has been uploaded to Webcastr and can be seen HERE:

I've already watched it a few times, downloaded it to my iPhone and watched it a few more times. Honestly, it's not her best video and there are too many blurry scenes of dark-haired Britney dancing with the stripper pole but it's not a bad vid. It's light years better than her abysmal performance at the 2007 MTV VMAs last month. Unlike many of Britney's other videos, this one doesn't seem to have a significant storyline ... it's pretty much blonde Britney and her blonde friends watch brunette Britney dance and there's a sketchy lookin' guy leering at them from his own table. Eh. The song is still hot and I'm still very excited for more new Britneyness ... [Source]

... cuz, truth be told, I'm getting awfully tired of the old Britneyness. It's been a few days since Britney handed over physical custody of her sons to her ex-hubby Kevin Federline and Brit has yet to spend one night at home, away from the melee of all the cameras. Britters was photographed out on the town again last night ... and it pains me to report that she wasn't lookin' too hot ... in fact, she was lookin' like she was on the verge of another meltdown:

Britney Spears emerged from her Hollywood Hills mansion yesterday looking clearly distressed after failing to regain custody of her two sons. The former pop star had spent much of the day holed up in her home following a judge's decision to allow her only supervised visits of Sean Preston,2, and Jayden James, 1. As she slipped out for a Starbucks run, it was clear the 25-year-old had been crying and appeared to break down in her car as she clutched her Yorkshire Terrier. Britney's aunt Chanda McGovern recently spoke of her family's fears for the troubled star. She told The Sun: "We are worried about suicidal tendencies in her. Everything is spiralling [out of control]. And whether it be intentional or accidental, there may be a drugs overdose. It's heartbreaking. Everybody is human she just needs to come back down to earth." Damn. She really looks like she's out of it, the screaming, the crying ... but, lemme tell you, the best way for her escape all this stressful ruckus is FOR HER TO STAY HOME FOR A NIGHT. Y'all know that I really want to have sympathy for her but ... when all of her hardship comes from her own actions ... what more is there to say? [Source]

At least this freakout didn't last for long ... our dear Britney regrouped and met up with former flame and producer JR Rotem ... who took her out for a classy dinner at one of her favorite restaurants last night ... McDonald's:

I really have no words. I'm always hesitant to use the word "trashy" but I don't really know what else to say about all of this personal bullshizz that she's got going on. At least I was able to be excited for about 30 mins. last night after her new video got released. Britney seems intent on shooting herself in the foot, on sabotaging any positives in her life. It's just so sad ... because, honestly, things could get even worse still :( [Source]

Blah ... let's move on ... here are a few pictures of Janet Jackson who looked AMAZING at the LA premiere of her new movie Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married? at the ArcLight Theater last night:

Can I just say that I am always amazed at how quickly Janet can go from unfortunate-looking in her downtime to freakin' fabulous when she's back to work? She looks as good in these pics as she ever has in years past. It was very nice of her brothers Jermaine and Tito Jackson to come out in support of their little sister. Janet has been out of the limelight ever since her last album 20 Y.O. bombed but it looks like she is back with a vengeance. Truth be told, I prolly won't be seeing her new movie in theaters (I'm not a big fan of the Tyler Perry movies) but it is great to see Janet (Miss Jackson, if you're nasty) lookin' utterly faboo again. The Darjeeling Limited had its Hollywood premiere at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills last night and I understand that Owen Wilson came out for the event. It was his first public appearance since he was admitted and then released from the hospital for attempted suicide. Here are a few pics from the red carpet (which Owen avoided):

Owen Wilson made a public appearance Thursday night – briefly showing up at the Los Angeles premiere of his movie, The Darjeeling Limited. Wilson, 38, sidestepped the red carpet and entered the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theatre through a private entrance, surprising the audience by joining costars Jason Schwartzman, Natalie Portman and Anjelica Huston onstage. Shown a very warm welcome back into the spotlight, Wilson was introduced by director Wes Anderson as "my best friend," and the audience erupted into applause. Added Anderson: "I've never made a movie without him. and I hope I never have to." Onstage, Wilson looked healthy and confident in a dark suit and white button-down shirt. It is Wilson's first major appearance since being hospitalized in August after what police called a suicide attempt. It is very encouraging that Owen is feeling up for making public appearances. I'm relieved to know that he appears to be doing much better. The movie had a pretty strong opening last weekend considering it opened in limited release in NYC. The movie will open in a few more theaters this weekend. If time allows, I'm gonna hafta see this movie again ... I really enjoyed watching it the first time. Remember, if any of y'all are planning on seeing The Darjeeling Limited, director Wes Anderson requests that you watch his 13-minute short film Hotel Chevalier before you do. It can be downloaded from iTunes for free HERE. [Source]

VH1 threw its annual HipHop Honors awards last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC ... here are a few pics from the red carpet:

The awards show, honoring Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliot, A Tribe Called Quest and Whodini, will debut on VH1 next Monday night at 10pm. Both Eve and Ciara were lookin' hot as Hades despite all the shininess of their outfits (which is rare) while Snoop and Ne Yo were lookin' fly as heck. Altho there are way too many awards shows on TV these days, the annual HipHop Honors show is a welcome event. [Source]

Vicki B., our favorite little robot, has winged her way to Paris, France this week to partake of the Fashion Week events and activties going on there. Here are a few pics of Vicki B. at the Flagship Store opening of the new Roberto Cavalli store in Paris:

See, who needs a mannequin when you've got Victoria Beckham in the hiz? Her collarbones look absolutely FIERCE! [Source]

Never one to linger at one particular event for too long, VB ditched Cavalli and made her way to the front row of the Chanel show afterwards, where she met up and chatted for a bit with Dita Von Teese ... let's eavesdrop in on their little convo, shall we?

Sigh. As far as robots go, Vicki B. will always be my fave. [Source]

ATTENTION: UGLY BETTY SPOILER ALERT WARNING

One last bit of VBness, here is a new promo picture from Vicki B.'s upcoming cameo on the hit ABC show Ugly Betty ... which may be a bit of a spoiler if you've yet to see the past few eps:

Her obsession with couture, twiggy frame and primped appearance meant Victoria Beckham fitted right into Ugly Betty's world of high fashion. The Spice Girl recently filmed a starring role on ... Ugly Betty - and walked a way with a rather hefty pay check. She was reportedly paid an impressive £70,000 for a one-off cameo appearance in an episode titled Nice Day for a Posh Wedding. This sneak peek picture shows Victoria playing bridesmaid to Ugly Betty villain Wilhelmina (Vanessa Williams), who is set to wed Alan Dale's Bradford Meade. Of course, Posh's starring role wasn't complete without a head to toe designer outfit - she looked right at home in a figure hugging Vera Wang dress. Victoria was first suggested for a cameo role after meeting actor Eric Mabius, who plays Daniel Meade, at an awards ceremony in London. He was convinced she would be perfect for a walk-on role. Producer Marco Pennette joked that he wanted David Beckham to come along to filming. Before shooting started, he said: "We want her husband on set. It's one of the requirements." Boo. I highly doubt that Becks will be making a cameo on the show ... but that's alright. I really love Ugly Betty (the show has gotten off to a great start this season) and I'm really anxious to see how VB comes across on the show. [Source]

Current CARE Ambassador Sarah Michelle Gellar was on hand for a cocktail reception at Sky360 in NYC last night which was held in her honor by Self magazine. Here are a couple pics of SMG lookin' all hot and shizz:

The following is taken from the Self magazine website:

SELF is working with Gellar to raise money for CARE. Donations made through the link below, up to $100,000 will be matched dollar for dollar by CARE ambassador Sheila Johnson's I Am Powerful Challenge. Gellar also teamed with Helen Ficalora to create a gold necklace charm to benefit CARE. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds go to CARE. Beautiful and philanthropic ... that's my Buffy! [Source]

In other SMG news, here is a new, beautiful promo pic from her new movie Southland Tales in which Sarah plays a porn star opposite The Rock's action movie star:

At long last, Southland Tales is due for a November release and I say it's about damn time. The movie is set is post-apocalyptic 2008 (after a nuclear bomb was discharged in Texas in 2005) and, well, it just gets complicated from the get-go. I read the graphic-novelization of this story earlier this year and am very anxious to see how the movie version will turn out. I really love seeing SMG on the big screen, er, that is when she's not doing a Scooby Doo movie. Hopefully this will be the breakout role that she's been looking for for so many years. At last, maybe she can get out of the horror/sci-fi genre that's kept her movie career on the ground ever since she left Buffy the Vampire Slayer for greener pastures. [Source]

Things seems to be going well for Prince William and Kate Middleton these days ... here are pictures of the drunken pair out on the town together last night for the first time being fairly open about their reunion since ending their relationship earlier this year:

Her beaming smile says it all. We're back together... And in fairness, who could begrudge Kate Middleton for looking like the cat that got the cream after the annus horribilis she has endured. The year began with fevered speculation that she and Prince William would get married after her astonishing appearance in the royal party for his graduation from Sandhurst. Yet just four months later, the couple's relationship was in tatters after the second-in-line-to-the-throne got cold feet about their four-year romance. Six weeks-worth of watching his ex-girlfriend flaunt herself in a series of increasingly revealing outfits about town, however, was enough to prompt a change of heart. At the beginning of July, Kate appeared with the prince in the Royal Box at Wembley Stadium for the Diana Memorial Concert - albeit at a discreet distance. Since then William has consciously wooed the glamorous fashion buyer back again. But although they enjoyed a romantic holiday together in the Seychelles earlier this summer, the couple have been keen to keep their relationship under wraps. In particular they were keen not to be photographed with each other - until now. Yay! Does this mean that the commemorative plates honoring their upcoming nuptials are gonna be back on the market soon? [Source]

Broadway babe Laura Bell Bundy paid a little visit to the set of Wheel of Fortune, which is taping in NYC at Radio City Music Hall this week in celebration of its 25th anniversary, and posed for a few amazing pics:

It appears that Laura Bell will be appearing on the show for Best Friends week, so natch she brought along her Legally Blonde: The Musical co-star and pup Bruiser. I love it! [Source]

Brad Pitt is on the cover of the new issue of Italian GQ magazine sportin' a really cool fake face tattoo:

Hmm ... so this is what Brad Pitt would look like if he were in prison. That's kinda really hot. [Source]

And finally, here is a new teaser poster for the new Iron Man movie which is due out next year:

Me like. My heart will always belong to Batman but ... I think I can make time for Iron Man as well. [Source]

Les News:
Last night I met up with my friends Tony and Davy and their friends for a one-night only screening of Poltergeist on the occasion of the movie's 25th anniversary. I never got to see the movie on the big screen when it was released back in 1982 but it was the first movie that I saw on HBO when the first of my friends got cable in the early 80s. I've seen the movie a few times before but seeing it on the big screen was an extra special event:

I had forgotten how cheesy parts of the movie are ... but it really still holds up as an amazing film. I was scared shizzless as a little kid when I saw it for the first time ... the tree and the clown really did it for me. Seeing it again after all these years brought all those fears rushing back ... it was pretty cool. The movie is so 80s its ridiculous. The language, the dress, the Rubik's Cube and Star Wars toys in the kids' bedroom ... so totally awesome. We all had a really great time ... especially since Zelda Rubenstien (who played the psychic Tangina in the film) was at last night's screening as well. She looks pretty good for her age ... she's a lively ol' gal.

Tonight The GangTM are getting together for a big party at Mike's place ... and that's about it. I fly out to NYC tomorrow afternoon so I'll be comin' atcha from the East Coast all next week. I'll make sure to whip up a short post for tomorrow tho. Have a great weekend. I'm out.
