Every SAG Has His Day

The good news is not only did I manage to make it back home to SoCal without incident or delay but I arrived home to find David already cozied up on my couch waiting for me :) He arrived about 30 mins. before I did so he was able to greet me upon arrival. The BAD NEWS is that I came home to find a portion of my apartment was flooded. Well, that may be a bit of an overstatement but the carpet along the wall where my front door is completely soaked :( Blah ... I'll complain about this sad fact more at the end of today's post ... so let's get to the goss and get on with it.

As is her custom, Britney Spears spent a huge portion of her weekend out and about all over town going out for coffee, shopping at porno shops and actually doing a bit of work as well. It was another madcap weekend for our dear Britney ... a weekend that saw her picking up a few essentials at the Hustler store on the Sunset Strip and also saw her stripping herself (well, at least going topless -- link may be NSFW) while she learned some new dance moves at the Millennium Dance Complex in North Hollywood, CA. While Britney is keeping mum publically on how things are going in her life, members of her inner circle are speaking to the media on her behalf ... possibly, without her approval or knowledge. Here are a few pics from Brit Brit's weekend around town:

In recent times, Britney Spears' love life has attracted more attention than her singing career. And judging from the these rather graphic pictures, the star has no intention of slowing things down. The troubled singer was recently spotted in Hustler, a popular LA sex shop, looking to several X-rated titles for inspiration as she browsed through the book section. Presumably looking to spice things up with current her boyfriend, British photogapher Adnan Ghalib, Britney was also seen purchasing sexy lace underwear as she made her way through the the West Hollywood shop. Wearing a pair of jeans and a white top, the singer, known for her eccentric sense of style, tried on an acid green feather boa as she clutched several pairs of brightly-coloured thongs.

People, this is good news: 1.) she's reading actual books and 2.) she's buying actual underwear. To me, this is a total win-win.

Cousin Alli Sims, who we know loves it whenever anyone in the media pays attention to her, has gone on the record to say that Britney "will be fine". See, who needs intense psychological treatment when you've got Dr. Cousin Alli by your side?

As Britney Spears's confidants are being deposed in her child custody case, Alli Sims says Spears is maintaining a positive outlook. "She does seem happy," Sims told PEOPLE at Saturday's Hugo Boss/Glamour Studio Glam suite, of Spears, 26. "I'm sure obviously she's going through some things, and a lot, right now. That definitely gets to you. I'm not saying that everything is fine," Sims, 26, says. "Obviously, she's worried about stuff, like we all are. She's hanging in there. I'm not worried. She'll get back. She'll be fine." Sims, who has been away from L.A. traveling, is moving into a new apartment in the Brentwood section of the city. She and Spears talk regularly, Sims says.

Now why do I have a hard time believing that she and Britters "talk regularly"? I don't believe it for a moment ... especially since Cousin Alli has been very vocal about how Adnan Ghalib creeps her out. In other creepy news, Brit's BFF Sam Lufti is also talking to the media about Britney ... apparently he put in a call to Barbara Walters to give an update on how she's handling her "treatable mental issues" ... and then Babs and The View ladies made fun of her on their show:

Barbara Walters told her fellow panelists on "The View" that Britney Spears' friend-manager-hanger on Sam Lufti called her over the weekend to say that Britney has mental issues, that they are treatable, that she has seen a psychiatrist, and she is in touch with her mother. Then Whoopi made fun of it.

Clikc HERE to watch a clip from The View of the ladies talking about this info from Lufti. And there you have it ... Britney's weekend in a nutshell. Things seemed to have leveled off a bit from the manic craziness that has been her normal day-to-day in recent weeks. If the worst thing she does these days is shop for porno books and pops a boob out while learning new dance moves then I say she is moving in the right direction. Sure, these things ain't gonna help her win back her babies ... but at least she seems to be moving away from the danger zone. Praise Jebus. [Source, Source, Source]

The big weekend news comes from the Screen Actor's Guild Awards show that was held in Hollywood last night and was broadcast on TNT last night. Having reached an agreement with the striking Writer's Guild of America (that the awards show would not be picketed and that actors would be allowed to attend), the SAG Awards went off without a hitch ... and with all the glitz and glamour that we've come to expect from Hollywood awards shows. Here are a few pics of some of the celebs who came out for the event on the red carpet last night:

The Sopranos may be off the air but the Mob clan still rules with an iron fist – at least at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards from Los Angeles's Shrine Auditorium. "This was so not supposed to happen," quipped Sopranos leading lady Edie Falco, who was honored as outstanding female actor in a drama series. Also picking up an award early in the ceremony was her costar James Gandolfini, the first winner of the night, as outstanding male actor in a drama series. Said Gandolfini as he accepted his "Actor" statuette: "This is the last official act as Sopranos, together," a nod to the fact that the HBO show wound down in June 2007 after six seasons. The HBO series' luck also carried over to the outstanding ensemble in a drama series category – its second SAG victory as such. "We're all honored and we're all happy," said Tony Sirico during his acceptance speech. NBC's Emmy-winning 30 Rock continued its upswing as lead actors Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin both picked up outstanding acting trophies for comedy. "I want to thank anyone in the Screen Actors Guild for considering me an actor at all," Fey wisecracked before thanking her cast – especially Baldwin. But when it came to an ensemble in a comedy series, The Office topped 30 Rock. Tom Cruise presented the cast of No Country for Old Men with the outstanding cast in a motion picture trophy, while Julie Christie (for Away from Her and Daniel Day-Lewis picked up leading actor awards. Day-Lewis, who won for his role in There Will Be Blood, dedicated it to Heath Ledger in a moving acceptance speech. Other major winners included Javier Bardem, named outstanding male actor in a supporting role for his chilling role as a killer in the Coen Brothers' No Country for Old Men. In the supporting actress category, Ruby Dee won for American Gangster, beating out Cate Blanchett, who won a Golden Globe in the same category for I'm Not There. "This is my first time holding one of these boys," Dee said, beaming onstage.

Cate Blanchette and America Ferrera looked lovely, Zac Efron looked too shiny (mebbe he left his compact in Vanessa Hudgens's purse?) and Debra Messing looked disheveled and out of it. Woot!! These are the sorts of things I've been missing in all the recently cancelled or ruined awards shows :) [Source]

Brangelina caused a stir at last night's event ... Angelina Jolie showed up on the arm of her lovermuffin Brad Pitt while wearing a very flowy, very Jennifer Lopez-like attempt at hiding a burgeoning baby bump dress on the red carpet:

If the dress doesn't keep those rumors that Brangelina are pregs with twins then the fact that Ange was photographed drinking only water at last night's affair might keep the speculation rampant. While it's true that Angelina could be hiding incubating twins underneath this dress it is only fair to say that should could also be hiding a small VW Beetle in there just as easily. Hmm ... don't they say that women who are pregs are also very hormonal, ie. lusty? Mebbe this is why Brangelina couldn't keep their hands and lips off of one another:

They had everybody talking during their major red carpet entrance. But Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie seemed unable to keep their eyes off each other at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday. Stealing kisses at their table or just romantic glances, the twosome stuck close, returning to their table together – hand in hand, no less! – after a brief break from the main ballroom at the Shrine Auditorium.

They are SOOOO in a family way right now. I wouldn't be surprised if she were actually pregs with triplets!! [Source]

The SAG Awards took a moment to pay respect to the late Heath Ledger, which I thought was done very tastefully and which I thought was very appropriate. I also must give props to Daniel Day-Lewis who dedicated his award to Heath Ledger in his acceptance speech for winning the Outstanding Male Actor in a Leading Role award:

While accepting his award as outstanding male actor in a leading role – for There Will Be Blood – Daniel Day-Lewis gave a moving tribute to Heath Ledger, who was also honored in the annual "In Memoriam" montage. Recalling several of Ledger's most iconic roles, Day-Lewis called the late actor an inspiration and "unique," before dedicating the trophy to Ledger. "Of course, in Brokeback Mountain he was unique," Day-Lewis said. "He was perfect. And that scene in the trailer at the end of the film is as moving as anything I have ever seen." Asked backstage why he'd decided to dedicate the award to Ledger, he said, "I suppose that's all I've been thinking about for the last few days. I never met him. I thought he was beautiful. I just have a very strong feeling that I would have liked him very much as a man. ...I admired him very much."

Thank you Daniel Day-Lewis. I completely agree that he was perfect in that role. Ennis Del Mar really came to life thru Heath's performance. I think it was very classy of Daniel to dedicate his award in this manner. [Source]

As with all awards shows, IMHO, the pace got a little slow and a bit snoozy ... but it looks like all the fun was happening off screen, in the audience, where all the free bottles of booze were:

Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that Hottie McHoster Ryan Gosling prolly put away more than just that one bottle of champagne? Hee hee. Click HERE for a full list of SAG Award winners. [Source]

Alright ... let's move on ... Jake Gyllenhaal, with his much-talked about and rumored love interest Reese Witherspoon (and her children), was spotted in public again after he went underground after news broke of Heath Ledger's death last week. Here are a couple pics of GyllenSpoon out for a little hike with Reese's kids in a park here in LA yesterday afternoon:

I can't even being to imagine what poor Jakey poo must be going thru right now. The loss of his friend must be heart-wrenching, especially when you consider that Jake is godfather to Matila Rose. It's encouraging that Jake is finally feeling up for going out in public again ... my thoughts are with him that he will be able to heal his pain as quickly as possible. [Source]

Hayden Panettiere is at it again ... here are a few pics of our fave cheerleader at a Save the Whales demonstration aimed at bringing a stop to whale hunting:

Hayden Panettiere made a splash Sunday at a downtown Washington, D.C., demonstration that called for a stop to whale hunting. The 18-year-old Heroes star, speaking without notes, told the crowd, "Not only are these animals being cruelly slaughtered, the meat is contaminated by huge levels of mercury," reports The Washington Post's Reliable Source column, which likened the Heroes star to a latter-day Jane Fonda – though less politically controversial. Continued Panettiere at the rally: "And we're not taking a stand because Japan is one of our biggest allies in the war on terror, but Australia is an ally and they've told Japan what they think, and good on them!" ... Far from helpless, Panettiere is taking her campaign on Monday to the embassies of Iceland, Norway and Japan. She also has a Web site, Panettiere's Closet, that makes available the clothing and accessories from her show. "All the money goes to the Whaleman Foundation," she says. "Tons of cute clothes on there."

I love this girl. Not only does she play a kickass superhero on TV but she also lives her life as a real-life superhero on a day-to-day basis. She's just awesome. [Source]

Now that Nicole Richie has reintroduced herself back into the world, it looks like she's happy to spend some time away from her new domestic lifestyle to spend some time out of the house with her babydaddy Joel Madden. Here is another pic from Nic/Joel's outing last week to her manager Benny Medina's 50th birthday party and a new pic of Nic/Joel's coffee outing yesterday afternoon:

Nicole looks amazing ... it's hard to imagine that her little body just gave birth to a baby. It's nice seeing these two back on the scene ... now if they'd just get themselves a pimped out stroller and brought Harlow Winter out to say hello I'd be TOTES happy ;) [Source]

Lindsay Lohan sure does love her new-fangled chewin' tobacco ... here are new pics of L. Lo carrying around a pack of her fave stuff with the brand name prominently facing out towards the camera:

Man, I do hope the makers of Ariva are paying her a pretty penny for promotion like this. [Source]

Here is another photo from Sarah Jessica Parker's recent Sex and the City Movie photoshoot that took place around Manhattan late last week:

This pic is classic Carrie ... I love it. I fully expect to see this exact outfit showing up on the streets of Middle America by the time the movie gets released on DVD. [Source]

In sad news ... Jesse Metcalfe and his on-again-off-again-on-again girlfriend Nadine Coyle, of Girls Aloud, are -- you guessed it -- off again. The couple are, yet again, dunzo:

Nadine Coyle and Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe have split, according to sources. Jesse jetted to London on Friday and has been hitting the London party scene hard, with one noticeable absence - Nadine. The pair went their separate ways after trying unsuccessfully to make their rocky relationship work. A souce says: "Nadine decided to breakup with Jesse. She's saying it's just a break but we all know it's not. They've had a very unstable relationship of late and she tried everything to make it work. "But they want different things in life at the moment and that was the final nail in the coffin. She flew to LA recently and spent the entire trip with he r family and gal pals. She even discussed a big girly trip to Vegas - without Jesse. She's never really done that before, he used to always be part of her plans. She's well and truly getting on with her life as a single girl." Jesse was at the new celeb hangout No 50 Dover Street in London until the early hours of Saturday morning and, judging by the gaggle of girls swarming around him, it didn't look like he was missing Nadine.

Meh. Give 'em 2 weeks, they'll be back together again. Incidentally, I ran into Jesse Metcalfe at LAX Airport on Thursday as I was leaving for Detroit and he did have a dour look on his face. I tried to smile a hello to him but he looked as if someone had peed in his cornflakes ... and now we know it was Nadine who did the peeing. Ah well ... c'est la vie, I suppose. But as I said ... I'm sure these two will be back together again in no time. [Source]

Here are a couple of new photos of Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman from the new Batman sequel The Dark Knight:

The pics are very cool and I am still very excited for the release of this movie. I know it's gonna be strange seeing Heath Ledger in all his manic glory as The Joker when the movie is released this July but, still, I think seeing this movie will be a very nice way to honor his talent and his memory. [Source]

Here are a couple pics from Keira Knightley's new photoshoot for the Canadian magazine Strut in which she seems to pay homage to 60's supermodel Twiggy:

The resemblance is really striking ... they did a really good job of making Kiera look exactly like Miss Twiggy. [Source]

Hayden Christensen is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Russian GQ magazine:

The photos look very inspired by the look of his new movie Jumper which hits theaters next month. I'm not the biggest Hayden fan but I like the look of his new movie ... it looks interesting ... I might have to check it out and see if it'll make me like him better. [Source, thanks Kevin]

And finally ... here are a few screencaps from the latest episode of the E! show Snoop Dogg's Father Hood:

Snoop Dogg + hockey skates = LOLOLOLOLOL. I love Snoop ... he seems like the coolest guy, deffo like the coolest dad ... I just don't know that the world is ready for Snoop Ducky Duck. [Source]

Les News:
So ... I'm home and I'm happy that David is here with me ... but I'm beyond PISSED that a growing portion of the carpet in my apartment is soaked. I have no idea how they're gonna be able to fix the problem (they being my apt. management) but I have the horrrrible feeling that I'm gonna have to do a lot of work to help the process along (ie. move big heavy pieces of furniture, etc.). I really have NO TIME to be dealing with this but I guess it must be done. Honestly, I keep thinking that it might just be easier to just move to a new place but the thought of having to pack up all my stuff is a very disheartening one :(

And so ... I must be off ... I have to see what can be done about my poor apt. I hope it's happy and DRY wherever you are. I'm out.
