Droppin' The Deuce

Just a quick little post to alert y'all to the fact that Pink is the new Blog is 2 years old today. While I've been blogging since August of 2002, it wasn't until June 1, 2004 that Pink is the new Blog came into existence ...

I am just stunned by what Pink is the new Blog has become in just 2 short years. You can read the first Pink posts from its first day of existence HERE (believe me, they're embarrassing and not very interesting to read) to see how far this blog has come.

Interestingly enough, it was the beginning of June 2004 when I contend that Britney Spears began her downward spiral from pop superstardom to the depths of trashy insanity. It has only been recently that we've begun to see little tiny glimmers of hope that Britney might be on her way to recovery. But, it was back on June 9, 2004 that Britney began her fall from grace. On June 9th, she began filming the video for Outrageous (which was to be the 4th single from her In The Zone album, with a cameo by Snoop Dogg and which was going to be the theme song to the movie Catwoman) and showed the world how amazing she looked in her trenchcoat and her underwear (do y'all even remember that she used to be hot all the time?) ... tragically, Brit severely hurt her knee during a dance routine while filming the video ... it was this moment that changed the course of her life forever:

Because Britney critically injured her knee she was forced to cancel plans for the video (thereby ensuring that she would not enjoy a summer pop hit that year) and cancel her world tour (which was, essentially, the entire second leg of her tour). It was also during this fragile time when she found herself in a very vulnerable position ... so much so that she fell under the sway of a down-and-out back up dancer who happened to be in her life at the perfect time ... for him ... for Kevin Federline. While she nursed her damaged knee (fearing she may never get to dance again), K-Fed was there to nurture her and worm his way into her life. The rest, ladies and gentlemen, is history. We all know what came of their relationship (a marriage, a baby and countless trashy misadventures) because we've spent the last 2 years chronicling the ramifications that sprung from that one incident back in June of 2004.

If only she didn't hurt her knee ... if only she were still with Justin Timberlake when the accident occurred ... if only K-Fed's parents believed in birth control ... well, who knows how her life might've turned out.

::SIGH::

What a crazy 2 years it's been, y'all ... I can't wait to see what the future holds from here on out.

And so, for today, I'm sending out lots of Birthday Lurve to all the Pink is the new Blog readers out there!! XOXO
