Promises, Promises

Britney Spears has taken to communicating with her fans via her official website again in a new Letter of Truth that was posted on the site this morning ... at least she isn't charging fans for these latest communiques ... remember when her Letters of Truth had to be paid for with a fan club membership? But I digress ... in this newest treatise (the first of '07), Britney responds to the criticism that she has been getting from the media and talks about the new album that she is working hard to release this year ... here is her message in its entirety:

Dear Fans,

It has been a while since I've addressed you personally here on my official website. The last couple of years have been quite a ride for me, the media has criticized my every move and printed a skewed perception of who I really am as a human being. Behind every decision I have made in my public life there always seems to be an apparent contradiction. I have come to terms with that which is why I usually don't pay much attention to it.

The last couple of years have been very enlightening for me and now that I've had the time to be "me," I've been able to sit down and think about where I want to go with myself as an entertainer with absolutely no strings attached. I am now more mature and feel like I am finally "free." I've been working so hard on this new album and I can't wait for you all to hear it and to go on tour again! I would like to exclusively tell you that I am working hard to release the new album sometime later this year, but the date is of course not certain yet. I look forward to coming back this year bigger and better than ever, and to also reaching out to my fans on a more personal level. I noticed today that one of my biggest fansites is shutting down soon and I want you all to know that I do understand all the reasons that went behind making that decision, and I am sad to see it closing. If I were you I'd be unhappy too if I had to read what I've been reading every day. But trust me, I get it. I know I've been far from perfect and the media has had a lot of fun exaggerating my every move, but I want you all to know that I love my fans so much, and I appreciate everything you have done for me, so Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

While I hate to question the seemingly genuine need for her to talk to her fans, this message kinda reeks of PR spin (plus, she posted a message to fans on her website just last month). She's had a tough few weeks lately and it seems like everything that she does just comes out wrong. I'm sure manager Larry Rudolph is behind this latest message and is, IMHO, a good move on their part. All the new album talk is meant to dispel the rumor that her record label Jive Records is angry with her ... she also mentions the closing of -- I believe in an attempt to connect with her fans in order to try and mend fences. It seems to me that the media at large is trying to paint her as a hopeless mess and she is trying to paint herself as a victim of the media's spin -- I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Yes, some things get exaggerated but there are also a lot of photographs that don't need spin to show Brit's poor judgment sometimes. I just really hope that he does "get it" and sets her mind to getting her shizz back in order. If she keeps up all of this crazy partying, she will have zero chance of getting back on top of the heap. I still think she can be successful ... I just hope that she really wants it bad enough to make it happen. [Source]

Hilary Swank, Patrick Dempsey, Billy Corgan & Courtney Love (?!?!?) and others were on hand for the Hollywood premiere of the new movie Freedom Writers ... here are a few photos from the red carpet:

I gotta say ... I don't know that I'm really feeling this new movie ... from what I've seen it looks a lot like Stand and Deliver meets Dangerous Minds which takes place on a Mario music video set. Hilary Swank really knows how to ratchet up the drama and turn performances into Oscars but I'm not sure this one is quite up to the task. It's interesting that Billy Corgan, frontman of Smashing Pumpkins who just happen to have a new album on the way, decided to show up on the arm of Courtney Love. I mean ... seriously? [Source]

Yesterday word broke that Lindsay Lohan's appendix had had enough of her hard-partying ways and wanted out of her body before she was able to do any further major damage ... forcing L. Lo to go into the hospital for an appendectomy:

Lindsay Lohan had surgery to remove her appendix on Thursday. "She does have appendicitis, and she is getting her appendix removed," her rep, Leslie Sloane, told PEOPLE Thursday afternoon. "She will be going in shortly." The 20-year-old actress was reportedly diagnosed after feeling ill on Wednesday. "I'm shocked," a friend of the actress tells PEOPLE. "I talked to her last night and she told me she was not feeling well but she thought it was a 24-hour-flu." It's my understanding that Lindsay's liver wanted out as well and had to be numbed with a bottle of Jack Daniels to get it calmed down again. [Source]

Lindsay's appendix isn't the only thing that wants to get out of a sticky situation, Mrs. Marilyn Manson, Dita Von Teese, slapped her hubby Marilyn Manson with divorce papers as he worked in a recording studio yesterday afternoon:

SHOCK-rocker Marilyn Manson is about to get one of the biggest shocks of his bizarre life - his stunning stripper-wife, Dita Von Teese, is dumping him after only a year of marriage. Page Six has learned that the pasty-faced Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, will be served with divorce papers today at a Los Angeles recording studio where he's working on his next album, with Von Teese citing "irreconcilable differences" in giving him the boot. Sources say the raven-haired bombshell filed for the split right before Christmas, but Manson has been unaware of it because she couldn't get in touch with him. "He's not been responsive," a friend said. "She loved him so much, but he has too many demons. He can't even communicate with her at this point. She tried to tell him she was divorcing him, but she can't even get him on the phone. She moved out of the house and he hasn't even noticed." Friends say Manson had been boozing heavily last year, much to Von Teese's dismay, but she'd desperately tried to hold on. "She really tried to make this work," the friend said. So ... I guess the real question is who is going to get the sex toys ... who will get the cemetery plots? Hello! Do people even think about these things before they get married? [Source]

Oh and Happy Birthday, MM.

Here is a new picture of David Beckham as he trains in Madrid, Spain yesterday afternoon:

Hellllllo sexy legs. [Source]

David Beckham isn't the only celeb getting back to business, Jessica Simpson is also getting her booty back to work the only way she knows how ...

... still exploiting that "dumb blonde" thing that made her a star. This time, Jessica stumbles her way thru a Pizza Hut commercial ... well, she's gotta make those minor ducats some how. [Source]

Speaking of blondes ... it looks like Jude Law is one again:

You know ... streaks don't work on every guy ... it takes a certain type of man to really rock the look. Jude is just the right type of dandy man to pull it off. [Source]

And speaking of dandy men (Whoa! there's a lot of speaking ofs going on today), Prison Break star Wentworth Miller is proudly proclaiming that he is not a gay man (lest you think otherwise) ... and this picture of him and a female friend on their way to the movies is proof positive:

"What happens to your identity, to the perception of who you are on this journey is a strange one," he said while on his first visit down under. There's this kind of star struck dynamic, I guess that's why they invented that word to describe that moment when a fan comes running up to you and they're so excited to see you. (But) inevitably there's this moment, where the shoe drops and they realise they have no idea who you are. I guess it's that strangeness, the identification with an actor, with a character, (and) the reality that you don't really know them at all which is kind of hard to wrap your head around." And with the fan's adoration, so too comes the media speculation, particularly around Miller's sexuality, but the softly spoken actor was firm when setting the record straight. "No, I'm not gay," he said. "I know these rumours are out there ... I'm cool with the fact that they exist, I mean this is about fantasy. Certain people are going to have certain fantasies, if someone wants to imagine me with a woman, or a man or one of each that's cool with me as long as you keep watching the show." Well, I guess that settles it. It's interesting that Wentworth is "cool" with whatever the fans want to fantasize as long as they "keep watching the show". I wonder what else he'd be cool with in order to get fans to watch his show. [Source]

Here are a few pictures of Mario Lopez showin' the world what he looks like when he has to go peeps:

You don't even want to see what he looks like when he has to go poops. [Source]

Move over Kristin Cavallari ... there's a new Bongo Jeans girl in town ...

MTV VJ "It" Girl and Nick Lachey paramour Vanessa Minnillo is the new face (and ass, apparently) of Bonjo Jeans. I'm gonna miss seeing the sexy pics of KC in these Bongo ads ... but I think they made a really good pick with Vanessa. She really is smokin' hot. [Source]

America Ferrera, the US's Ugly Betty, is all prettied up on the cover and within the pages of the new issue of CosmoGirl magazine:

Is it just me or does America look worse all glammed up? It's funny how wrong she looks without the braces, glasses and horrendous hair. [Source]

Drew Barrymore, on the other hand, looks really super cute on the cover of the new issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine:

She looks all fresh and lovely for 2007. Love it! [Source]

Yet another painting is causing a controversial stir but this time it's not celebrity that is being showcased ... it's royalty (the British Royal Family to be exact) ... and the claim is that they're not really being "painted" in the best light:

A PAINTING ridiculing the Royal Family has sparked outrage among monarchists. The picture, that is currently showing as part of an exhibition at a gallery in Amsterdam, depicts Prince Harry as a Nazi and the late Princess Diana as Christ. Tory MP David Ruffley said: "This seems to be a pathetic and tasteless attempt at art by a man with no talent. "People on the continent are just jealous of our Royal Family and the Queen being a beacon of decency for the Western World." Sun royal snapper Arthur Edwards slammed the artists work. He said: "It is demeaning of the Royal family. Some of the images are just awful. "Anyone who has any connection with the Royal Family will find it offensive." But Gallery the 3rd owner Mr Maarten de Vlieger defended the work. He said: "Everyone we've shown this painting to has been very excited about it so we don't see it as a problem. "Prince Harry is the one responsible for being a Nazi as he dressed up like that in England two years ago and there is no way we will be withdrawing it." Mr de Vlieger said he was considering showing the painting in the UK later this year. Well ... art is suppose to illicit an emotional response from the viewer -- it seems that this painting has done the trick. I kinda agree that the image of Prince Harry in that Nazi uniform is a bit shocking ... but he did wear that costume to a Halloween party and is really the one responsible for casting himself in that light. I find the painting very interesting ... it is a bold comment on the Royal Family. I don't really think that any of the Royals portrayed in the painting is demeaned or defiled in any way ... just throw in Angelina Jolie in the background and I'm sure it'll sell for millions. And finally, I have to send the warmest birthday wishes to Marilyn Manson who turns 38 years old today:

Even tho this birthday is prolly marred by that pesky divorce thing that soon-to-be-ex-wife Dita Von Teese threw at him yesterday, I'm sure that Marilyn Manson (nee Brian Warner) will find some way to have a Happy Birthday today ... maybe he can hook up with Billy Corgan and Courtney Love and hit the town tonight? In any case -- Happy Birthday, Marilyn Manson ... I hope all of your nightmares come true!

Les News:
David and I did a bit of running around yesterday afternoon spending some time at the shops at Century City. We had plans to hang out with my lovely friend Gillian but I wasn't feeling too great last night ... so he managed to do the hanging out for the both of us.

Tonight we're having dinner with our good friend Marc and I'm not sure what else we have planned ... maybe some dancing? maybe at PopStarz? well ... maybe.

That is all ... I'm out.
