Country Folk

Well ... I guess it's just another Meager Monday. There ain't all that much going on today ... Britney hasn't run over anyone with her car lately ... er, well, since the last time she ran someone over, that is ... and there weren't any celebrity arrests for DUI over the weekend either. So strange. Ah well, let's do what we can with what we've got and make a go of it, shall we?

Angelina Jolie was joined by her common law hubby Brad Pitt at the London premiere of her new movie Beowulf which was held in Odeon Leicester Square this weekend. Author Neil Gaiman (who wrote the screenplay for this movie version of Beowulf), Sir Anthony Hopkins and Duncan James were among the other folks in attendance ... here are a few pics:

Yeah, these photos by themselves aren't all that interesting but I did want to post a pic of Neil Gaiman (who I love) since it's rare that we get to see him out at events like this. I will state again how excited I am to see the movie version of this tale. I know that everyone is all excited that Angelina will be "nude" in the movie but, and this should come as no surprise to anyone, that isn't the draw for me. In fact, I'm already a bit put off by her inclusion in the movie overall ... from all the trailers that I've seen I find it a bit funny that every time Angelina is supposed to speak in a foreign accent for a movie she ALWAYS uses the same one. How long has she been acting? You'd think she'd be able to learn at least a few different accents. [Source]

The Beowulf premiere pics get a smidge more interesting when you take a look at Angelina's ass and her feet:

Um, can someone explain to me how Angelina Jolie is able to split a part of pants at the seam ... any pair of pants? The woman is stick thin and she barely has a booty to speak of ... it doesn't make any sense. The gum on the bottom of her expensive Christian Louboutin high heel is just freakin' funny. Uh, I guess it's a bit sad that this sort of thing has to qualify for news on a slow news day like today. [Source]

Anyways ... moving on ... the made-for-TV Lifetime movie August Rush had its premiere this weekend in NYC at the Ziegfeld theater where star Jonathan Rhys Meyers showed up with his creepy axe-murderer eyes along with his co-stars Kerri Russell, Freddie Highmore and more:

I'm utterly convinced that if JRM weren't able to make a living at acting he'd prolly be a practicing serial killer -- those eyes are too creepy for him to be employed as anything else. It's really amazing that he can be hot one minute and then scary as hell the next. But I digress ... from what I gather from the trailers that I've seen for his movie Kerri Russell plays a promising musician (a cellist, I believe) who is forced to give up for adoption the unplanned baby that she created with JRM (perhaps while she was on holiday in his strange land). It's also possible that JRM isn't the father and he is just helping the kid find his mother (from what I've seen, his role isn't all that clear from the trailers). Anyways ... at some point, she realizes her mistake and tries to find her child, I'm guessing his name is August, unaware that the child is in a rush (get it?) to find his parents as well ... and they are all brought together, happily, thru the power of music. Um, yeah. Well, if this movie wasn't made specifically for Lifetime TV it will eventually make its way to the channels Sunday matinee time slot soon enough. No thanks. [Source, Source]

Little celebri-gnomes Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made a run for the border to appear as bridesmaids at a wedding of a close friend in Los Cabos, Mexico this weekend ... here are photos of the usually unsmiling little persons all decked out for the beachy nuptials:

Now you just know that MK and Ashley had to rock-paper-scissors for the right to wear the sparkly headband that looks like it came from Middle Earth. Tho, I'm not entirely sure if the Olsen who had to wear the damn thing was the rock-paper-scissors winner or loser. Hee hee. Headband notwithstanding, they do look lovely, I'll give them that. Xtina Aguilera enjoyed the first of 3 baby showers this weekend which, as I mentioned yesterday, was given a baby blue theme. From what I understand, Xtina invited a bunch of friends to the affair ... friends made up of drag queens ... and Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale. Hmm. Sounds like fun. Here are pics of Gwen and Gavin making their way into the shower:

Christina Aguilera celebrated her pending motherhood with a baby shower on Saturday at her home in Beverly Hills. The shower, the first of three planned for the expectant mom, according to a source, was an intimate gathering of close friends and family. Though the singer has not confirmed the gender of her baby, there was a distinctive theme to the gifts – the color blue. Among the presents bought from baby boutique Bel Bambini, where the singer set up her registry last month, were a blue Loved Mom Guitar shirt, a Cariboo bassinet with blue dot bedding, Trumpette Johnny's socks – and Sozo Whiz Kid wee block, meant for use when changing a baby boy's diapers. Aguilera, 26, formally confirmed her pregnancy to Glamour magazine earlier this month, saying she will "enter into mommyhood" next year. Thus far, it's unclear what gift Gwen and Gavin brought for Xtina's new baby (boy?) but since they are already proud parents of a young lad then I'm sure they know what sort of gift Xtina and Jordy might need/want. Is it just me or does anyone else believe that Gavin was the only dude at the baby shower ... er, that is, the only dude who wasn't wearing women's clothing, that is. [Source]

Here are a few ADORRRRRABLE pictures of Heidi Klum enjoying a little playdate with her youngest child Johan at the Beverly Glenn Park here in LA over the weekend. I'm sorry but the ubercruteness is just overwhelming:

Heidi has a couple of things to celebrate in the next few days ... first, the fourth season of Project Runway debuts this Wednesday night bringing much joy to the legions of PR fans the world over AND this cute little Johan baby will be celebrating his first birthday next week. So you know what it means when Heidi has a season of Project Runway in the can and her youngest child celebrates its first birthday ... it's time for Heidi and Seal to get back to baby makin'. Here are a few semi recent photos of Justin Timberlake trying to catch some rays poolside while he was trying to unwind after completing his FutureSex/LoveShow Tour a couple of weeks ago:

I know, I know ... immense fame and wealth has turned JT into a bit of a jerk in recent years but that doesn't mean we can't still enjoy his hawtness ... as long as we don't have to hear him being an a-hole ... oh, and as long as we don't linger on the hammer toes on his feet too much either .. yipes! 99% of the cast of High School Musical showed up for a little Xmas special taping at Disneyland over the weekend with only one main cast member curiously absent ...

... yeah, Zac Efron may have succumbed to the INSANE financial pressure to appear in the next installment of the High School Musical franchise but something tells me that little Zacy-poo won't be doing very much promo stuff with his HSM co-stars. I'm pretty sure Vanessa Hudgens, who was mercifully re-signed for part 3, will be sure to be at every.single.promo.event from here on out, kissing the feet of any Disney execs who happen to walk in her general direction. LOL! [Source]

Ryan Phillippe is featured on the cover and in the pages of the Autumn/Winter issue of Man About Town magazine ... here are a few pics:

I'm actually still pretty surprised that ex-wife Reese Witherspoon would choose to cut a hottie like this loose ... sure, she moved on and got herself involved in a seemingly staged fauxmance with Jake Gyllenhaal but I still don't get it. Ryan has managed to not only stay unattached since his divorce from Reese but he's also been staying under the radar as well. I think I like Ryan single ... it makes ogling pictures of him like these feel not so creepy (not that that would stop me ;) [Source]

The hotness that is Sarah Michelle Gellar is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Maxim magazine wearing some gloves, a bra and not much else:

Woot! SMG has still got it! She looks amazing and not at all trampy. SMG is one of the rare celebs that can make wearing only a bra look sexy and not trashy. [Source]

The next star of Equus has been cast and the first promo pictures from the British touring company have been released. Here are a few promo pictures of Alfie Allen, brother to Lily Allen, who has stepped into the lead role left vacant by Daniel Radcliffe:

These have to be the best pictures of Alfie Allen that I've ever seen. All the previous pics that I've seen haven't been this flattering ... tho, it remains to be seen what the lad will look like sans clothes. I think I'd rather wait to see Daniel Radcliffe reprise this role when he brings the show to Broadway next year :) [Source, Source]

Here are a few screencaps from the new Tesco commercial featuring the Spice Girls:

In the ad the Spice Girls each shop for Xmas gifts for one another at the discount department store and then try to hide from one another the fact that they are buying each other gifts from the store. Hahhahaha, if I were as rich as they are, I'd be embarrassed too. Click HERE to check out the ad for yourself. [Source]

And finally ... here's a little game for all y'all ... can you guess which celebutante was caught showing off a huge smudge of lipstick on her front teeth?

Click above to find out who it is

You'd think with as good as she usually is with her mouth (I hear) that'd she be better at keeping lipstick off her teeth. [Source]

Les News:
Last night, I finally got to hang out with my friend Lizy who I haven't seen in ages. Thankfully she's kept on my ass to make sure that we make time to hang out. We decided to go out for movie and dessert and made our way to The Grove to see No Country for Old Men:

I think that No Country for Old Men has to be among my fave movies of the year ... if not the best movie I've seen in 2007. It was very true to the book and all the actors did an incredible job bringing their characters to life. What I loved most about the book was the dialog and the spirit of the book really translated well to the big screen. I found the movie entirely engrossing and very entertaining ... if not disturbing (as it should be in parts). Lizy and I were really enjoying the movie when about 10 mins. before the movie ended the guy in the seat right behind me started having a seizure! It looked like he had just had surgery as he had a huge bandage on his head. The friend that brought him to the movies didn't know what to do and some guy lept up and took control. Paramedics were called ... it was a very jarring experience. From what I could tell after we were moved out of the way, the seizures stopped and the guy remained conscious. I hope he really is ok.

After the movie, Lizy and I went over to the Cheesecake Factory to try and decompress and ended up having a nice time together (despite the fact that we both almost died by slipping on the slick floors at that place). All in all, it was a great night.

I spent the rest of my evening trying to get thru the book The Kite Runner. OMG, I love this story so much ... it is such a pleasure to read. I plan on having it finished today.

And so ... I guess that is all. I hope y'all's Monday is a great one. I'm out.
