Family Resemblance: Jamie-Lynn Spears Is Pregs!!!
Jamie Lynn Spears, 16, has confirmed to OK! Magazine that she is pregnant. Oh. My. God. A source tells us the interview, which hits stands tomorrow, is six pages and is on the record with Jamie Lynn and her mother. She tells the mag that the father is Casey Aldridge, who she has been dating for some time and first met at church. Brit's younger sister, star of Nick's "Zoey 101," says she's keeping the baby.
WTF?!?!?!?!?! I am absolutely crest-fallen that JL is following so closely in her big sister's disasterous footsteps. I was sure that JL would be the one to revive the Spears name and it looks as if that ain't gonna happen. Hello ... she met her baby daddy at church, y'all! Give me an effing break!!! Here is a pic of the parents-to-be -- 16-year old Jamie-Lynn and 19-year old Casey -- that was taken at an event over the summer:
Earlier today, I posted a newslink to a story about how Jamie-Lynn has yet to announce whether or not she would be returning to her Nickelodeon TV show Zoey 101 ... and I guess now we know why. Here is a promo pic from the season finale TV movie of Zoey 101 that is set to air on Nickelodeon on January 4th entitled, appropriately enough, Goodbye Zoey:
One of TV's favorite schoolgirls is starting to grapple with some growing pains, and so is her real-life counterpart, 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears, sister of that other Spears. "Zoey 101" wraps up its third season as one of the Nickelodeon's top-rated shows with a Jan. 4 cliffhanger worthy of the recent "Desperate Housewives" show, in which a tornado struck Wisteria Lane. Nobody's life is on the line in a kid's show, of course. But tweens will have to fret along with Zoey over whether she should remain at her sun-dappled California boarding school, Pacific Coast Academy, or move to London with her parents ... So what will she do as the show's third season ends and her school chums ponder a fourth season without Zoey? "I don't know. I don't know," Spears says teasingly during a phone interview from her home in Kentwood, La. "Something definitely happens," she finally concedes. "But I guess you'll just have to wait and see what comes of it all."
Boooo!!! "Something definitely happens" alright ... Zoey gets effing knocked up and then she gets shipped off to a boarding school out of the country to hide her family's shame! I'm pretty sure JL's career at Nickelodeon is dunzo. Nickelodeon has released a statement regarding the news of Jamie-Lynn's pregnancy:
We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being.
I am totally and completely shocked ... I really didn't believe that JL would fall into the same pit of idiotic decision-making that Britney Spears did ... and I surely didn't think she'd do so at such a young age. Now, Jamie-Lynn Spears is set to be an unwed mother at 16 years old ... talk about upholding the Spears Family legacy. Much, much props goes to ONTD! for stealing OK! magazine's thunder. I'm sure the mag was planning to set off this explosive story early tomorrow morning (as their magazine hit newsstands) ... but they've been usurped by the kids at ONTD!. Damn ... I am so not looking forward to seeing pictures of Jamie-Lynn Spears with a baby bump. The only thing more depressing would be seeing Britney Spears with another baby bump :( Boo. [Source, Source]
UPDATE: Quick to jump onboard the breaking news bandwagon, TMZ scored an official statement from proud Grandma-to-be Joyce Aldridge concerning the impending birth of her son's baby with JL Spears:
Joyce said, "We are aware of the recent interview regarding her and being pregnant, and we are in agreement with everything that was said by Jamie Lynn about the situation ... everything is fine." When asked if Casey had anything to say about his girlfriend being preggo, she said, "At this point, Casey doesn't wish to speak out, but it would be wonderful when the time comes." When asked about their ages and any negative aspects, she said, "Casey will address all of this when it is time."
You know ... I had a sneaking suspicion that 2007 was gonna bust one at least one more big story for the year ... and this one is a dooze. I cannot wait to read the entire OK! magazine interview. I am still in a state of shock.
