The Spa Who Loved Me

Welp ... the intense pressure that has been piling on Britney Spears over the past few days ... er, months and years, actually, has finally started taking its toll on her. In addition with being charged with a crime yesterday (which resulted in a visit to her new lawyer's office) she also had to suffer the public indignity of having to show up at a medical facility in order to begin her scheduled drug testing. As usual, Britney was able to maintain her composure for most of the day but suffered a breakdown in the midst of her hectic, demoralizing day ...

... never fear, tho, our dear Britney managed to pull herself together and carry on with the rest of her day by embarking on a little shopping trip ... to the pet store. Now, I'm not sure if Britney started crying because her lawyer gave her bad news regarding the new charges levied against her (wait for it, I'll get to those in a sec) or if she just was so upset that she is being forced to succumb to drug testing in order to prove to the court that she is a fit mother. Personally, I think it's the latter reason ... altho, Paris Hilton was sent to jail for a traffic violation, maybe her lawyer gave her the sobering news that she's in deeper trouble than she anticipated. [Source, Source]

Okay ... the charges. Do you recall that incident in early August where Britney was videotaped pulling into a parking space and in the process she hit the parked car next to her? If so, then you also recall that Britney jumped out of the car to inspect the damage ... done to her car only (she yelled out, Did I hurt my car? and then It's not bad). She didn't even give the other car a passing glance ... after she finished checking out her car, she went along on her merry way and prolly never thought about the incident again ... that is, until she got charged with a hit and run violation, which is punishable with up to a year in jail. Oh yeah, it turns out that Britney Spears doesn't even have a Californa driver's license ... so she is being charged with that misdemeanor crime as well. Which, of course, makes one wonder WTF?!?!?!?!??!

Britney Spears's bad month just got worse: She has been charged with hit-and-run causing property damage and driving without a valid license, the Los Angeles City Attorney said Friday. The charges stem from a fender-bender in a store parking lot on Aug. 6. Spears, 25, made a wide, right turn into a parking space and scraped another car's bumper. "According to the DMV, Ms. Spears was never issued a California license – ever," City Attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan tells PEOPLE. The other car's owner filed a police report at a North Hollywood station. Her arraignment is set for Oct. 10 in a Van Nuys, Calif., court. If convicted on both misdemeanor charges, she faces up to a year in jail, Mateljan says. [Source]

Here is video, captured by Flynet, that shows the whole hit and run incident as it happened on August 6th:

Despite this clear absense of intelligence on Britney's part, I find it highly unlikely that she'll be forced to serve any jailtime ... at the worst, she'll be paying fines and settlement fees to the injured party. Lord ... just when you thought things couldn't get any worse for Britters, along comes another one of these incidents. I'm actually very concerned with what could be coming next.

In happy news, Salma Hayek has FINALLY given birth to that baby that she's been carting around for the past 87 years. Salma and her fiancee François Henri Pinault are the proud new parents of a baby girl, named Valentina Paloma Pinault:

"Mother and daughter are doing well," Hayek's publicist Cari Ross, said in a statement. No further details were released. A source told PEOPLE that the 41-year-old Mexican-born actress entered the hospital on Thursday and that Pinault was present. The daughter is the first child for Hayek. Pinault, 45, has two children from a previous marriage which ended in divorce in 2004. By the size of poor Salma at the end of her long pregnancy, I would imagine that her new baby girl was born at a whopping 65lbs. In any event, much congrats goes to the happy couple! [Source, thanks Sarah]

Nicole Richie, who celebrated her 26th birthday yesterday, is spending some time with her boyfriend/babydaddy Joel Madden of Good Charlotte on the island of Hawaii. Here are a couple cute pics of Nicole sunnin' her expanding baby bump on the beach yesterday:

It won't be long before I'll be announcing the explosion of Nicole's own baby ... Woot! It's great to see that mother and bump are doing well. [Source]

In sad news, George Clooney and his girlfriend Sarah Larson were involved in a motorcycle accident that left George with a broken rib and Sarah with a broken foot -- OUCH!

George Clooney and girlfriend Sarah Larson were treated at the hospital Friday for injuries after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a car in New Jersey. Clooney, 46, suffered a hairline fracture of a rib and road rash, and Larson, 28, suffered a broken foot, his rep says. They were treated at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, N.J., and released. Both were wearing helmets. According to police, Clooney was driving his Harley-Davidson north on Boulevard East in Weehawken, N.J., at 3:30 p.m. when he collided with a 1999 Mazda Millenia. Clooney was passing on the right of the vehicle as it attempted to make a right turn on the two-lane road. Larson appeared to have cuts on her face and an injured foot and was taken away by ambulance, says Weehawken police Sgt. Sean Kelly. Clooney accompanied Larson in the ambulance to the hospital. The Mazda driver, identified as Albert Sciancaledore, 27, of Weehawken, was uninjured. Well, at least George and Sarah weren't seriously injured. Irregardless of who was at fault for this accident, I contend that motorcycles, while very cool to look at, aren't the best modes of transportation. The sentence, The Mazda driver ... was uninjured. pretty much says it all. A cousin of mine was showing off his motorcycle skills at a family gathering many years ago and ended up spending the night in the emergency room where they were digging stones out of his thigh and trying to salvage his front teeth that were ground into the pavement. From that moment on, my attraction to motorcycles quickly disappeared. [Source]

Here are a few unspoilerish photos (I think) of the Sex and the City girls on the set of the new movie:

Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon were reunited in NYC to reprise their roles as Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda as filming of the movie continued. I once contended that The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins which was filmed in Chicago, IL over the summer, would be the most photographed movie in filming production ... but, so far, this SATC movie has been photographed to death already and it's only been in production for a few days. By the time the movie opens on May 30, 2008 we may prolly already know pretty much everything that will be in the movie already. [Source]

One things for sure, SJP's character, Carrie Bradshaw, hasn't lost her penchant for the fashionably ridiculous:

Even tho I didn't watch the show I've seen enough eps to get the whole crazy clothes Carrie thing. Erik and VLB used to have SATC watching parties at our place so I get it. Honestly, I'll prolly end up picking up that huge pink SATC the complete series DVD set and get to watchin' this show. I hate being left out of stuff. [Source]

Vicki B. was spotted making a bland exit out of a studio in LA where she was fitted for her upcoming appearance in the new season of Ugly Betty where she will, reportedly, play herself as, THIS MIGHT BE A SPOILER, a bridesmaid in the wedding of Wilhelmina Slater and Bradford Meade. Exciting. Here is the pic:

Clearly, I hope her Ugly Betty ensemble is much more exciting than this outfit is. [Source]

The hot girls of Heroes -- Kristin Bell, Hayden Panettiere and Ali Larter -- grace the cover of the new issue of TV Guide:

Natch, Hayden has to be front and center in the pic ... but I bet Ali was a bit peeved that she now has to share the glory with both Hayden and Kristin. I wonder how much of a splash Kristin Bell will be making in the new season ... and much of an annoyance it may become for the other players. [Source]

Mark Ronson is featured in the pages of the new issue of GQ magazine, here are a few pics from his fun photospread:

The boy just looks suave all the time. Not only is he good looking but he's also hugely talented. Don't forget, I'm giving away a pair of tickets to see Mark Ronson & The Version Players live at the El Rey Theatre here in LA (click HERE for deets) so make sure you get your entry submitted by next Wednesday. [Source]

In other hotness news, here are a couple of really hot promo pics of Jennifer Lopez for her upcoming new album Brave:

Shiny, silver and wet ... that is exactly how I like my J. Lo. She looks amazing ... I love this concept artwork for the album. [Source]

And finally, it's time for this week's batch of photos sent in by Pink is the new Blog readers -- Marcia and her housemates Yessi and Irene, who hail from Singapore, send in an amazing photo from their recent Mask Party themed housewarming party -- Mary from Hermosa Beach, CA. who, two years ago, was paired up to live with Leslee from Houston, Texas while they studied abroad celebrated their recent graduation from college by living in in Galway, Ireland for four months -- Kim from Agawam, Massachusetts sends in a pic of her big sister Sara on her 21st birthday -- Nicola from New Zealand sends in a pic from her birthday party where her friends presented her with a birthday cake made out of cupcakes -- Meg from New Orleans, LA sends in a pic of her fiancee Martin proposing to her at the Austin City Limits Festival last Sunday while watching the Preservation Hall Jazz Band ... she said yes:

Much, much love and congrats to you all and thank you so much for sending in your amazing pictures. Not only do I love getting photos from all reaches of the planet but I'm also very happy when peeps send in pics from their birthday parties, weddings, etc. It always means so much that people would take the time to include PITNB in the good times. Thank you, again, so much! XOXO

Les News:
Okay ... so let me tell you about our amazing day yesterday. I wanted to treat David to a day of utter pampering so I took him to the Euphoria Face and Body Spa here in LA for a day of facials, massage and paraffin wax treatments. And because I'm such a good sport, I tagged along with him. We both had the most amazing day ... not only were the treatments luxurious but the customer service was superb. I couldn't have been more pleased. If you live here in the area and you're looking for a great day spa to treat yourself you have to visit Euphoria. Much love goes out to my BFF Sarah ... for my birthday she got me a gift certificate for this spa and that is how I knew to bring David for treatments. Sigh. I'm getting all tingly just thinking about how great I felt yesterday ;)

Afterwards, because it *shudder* rained like crazy here, we made our way to the Beverly Center to hang out ... then to grab some food at Basix on Santa Monica Blvd. (the Apple Cob Salad is amazing). We planned on going out for dancing but ended up crashing at home ... which is our usual M.O.

This afternoon we're meeting up with Jim and Derek for a double dinner date and then later we're meeting up with our friend Molly who is visiting from San Francisco this weekend. The sun has returned today ... which is nice cuz I'm not used to seeing water fall from the sky here in LA. It's so unnatural.

Have a great weekend, y'all. I'm out.

Mark Ronson Is Coming To LA ... Be There Or Be Square

Mark Ronson has got to be one of the more talented, very exciting new artists to emerge here in the US this year ... which is why I'm very excited that he will be playing his first LA show at the El Rey Theatre on October 3rd -- and I'd like you to be able to see him live for yourself. His album, Version, features some amazing collabos and I am very interested to see how he sounds live. He was the musical master of ceremonies at the 2007 MTV VMAs this year (performing songs with guest singers in between the commercial breaks) so I got a taste of what he might have in store for a live performance. So ... if you're interested in seeing Mark Ronson at his first LA performance then I've got the contest for you:

Mark Ronson is deffo too cool for school, which is evident in every picture he takes, so all you have to do to enter for a pair of free tickets to see Mark Ronson & The Version Players featuring Alex Greenwald, Daniel Merriweather, Kenna, Wale, Stuart Zender & more ... live here in LA at the El Rey Theatre is to submit a photo of YOU and maybe some friends lookin' as cool as can be. I'm talking shades, leather jackets, amazing dresses ... whatever you think sets you apart as the essence of cool will be just fine. Send your submissions to pinkisthenewblog@gmail.com by Wednesday September 26th in order to be eligible. I will randomly select the winning entry and post it later on in the week. Please remember, this contest does not provide airfare or travel expenses of any kind, if you win, you'll have to get yourself to the concert venue on your own.

Of course, you can purchase your own tickets for the show HERE should you want to guarantee your spot at the show. Barring any last minute emergencies, I'm planning on going to this show as well ... hopefully if you win we can say hello :)

Good luck! Have fun!
