Fan Mail
Anyways, I wanted to return the favor and give Mr. Walsh a shout-out. I've had him listed in my blog links for a while but I sincerely doubt many of you pay any attention to the stuff over there on the right sidebar (bad you!).
Additionally, I want to also give a shout-out to Miss Paige of Toronto, Canada. Her site is hilarious! It's so well-written and smart. And, hello, she's sooo cute ... and crazy! She sounds a lot like Candice which means if we ever hung out there would be serious trouble.
I wonder if she's high right this second ... hmmm .... anyways ...
I love reading her exploits because she's real y'all ... really freaking HOTT! C'est what?
Read her!!!
Now.

Salty Goodness
so i finished the record many months ago, turned it in to warner bros., they liked it, and we started talking about the release date. i was feeling a little unsure about the record though-- it just didn't feel done. it is very slow and sad, which i love, but i just felt like something was missing, and i wasn't ready to let go of it. anyway, i went in to warner bros., and told them how i felt, and they were very supportive, and agreed to let me go back and re-record some stuff and record a few new songs. i will probably go and do this with bob rock in maui ... what can i say? so, i am once again in the position of apologizing profusely to all of you who are waiting so patiently for my next album. it really shouldn't take this long, but for some reason it just is. i have been dragging my heels a bit i guess, trying to figure out my next move, writing new songs, and busy with some other stuff in my life. so i will go do some more work after the holidays, and hopefully the new stuff will fit with the songs we have already recorded, and i will have a beautiful album that i can be 100% psyched about.
In the meantime, she offers an MP3 of her cover of N.W.A.'s Straight Outta Compton for download at the Sights & Sounds section of her website (or you can right-click and Save As HERE).
Additionally, Veruca Salt's official website tells us that the band, too, is close to completion of a new album:
In Los Angeles, lead singer and founder Louise Post has been writing and recording with various producers, in preparation for the upcoming, long-awaited fourth Veruca Salt Album. She's happy to have had time to focus on physical and spiritual health (don't worry, no trips to India!) having been in a prolonged state of industry-shell-shock after her departure from Veruca Salt's last label, Beyond Music ... 2005 looks to be a very exciting year for the band. Armed with new management, label interest, and an abundance of new songs, the band is psyched to get in the studio and hoping to have a summer release for VSIV. Post promises that the new record will be worth the wait ... Fans can expect to hear some new material mixed in with the more familiar, cherished songs of the past three albums.
Hmm ... we'll see. The site Veruca Slut has a few Veruca b-sides and downloads HERE. They are worth checking out.
I am excited for new music ... but they've been making promises for years now ... I'll believe it when I hear it.

You Make Me Want To Ca Ca
Boo! Boo! Boo!
Speaking of Boos ... yesterday, as you know was the Orange Bowl and while Oklahoma, to borrow the phrase from Brandon, shit the bed in the game the important thing is to discuss the halftime show.
Everything started out okay ... well, the pregame stuff anyways. Ryan showed up to support Ashlee as she gave a small performance before the game began:
The actual halftime show was made up of 3 performers -- Kelly Clarkson, Trace Atkins (country artist) and Ashlee Simpson -- only one of these performers didn't get booed; the game was held in a red state -- can you guess which one didn't get booed? Kelly was up first:
Wow ... the sound was all effed up for her performance. At first there was no vocal, then her vocals were turned way down ... you could hear every backup singer more than you could hear her. You could hear the prominent boos too. Poor Kelly, it was bad ... but not quite as bad as Ashlee's performance:
Man, it must have been a pretty poor performance if even I think she did poorly. She sounded like crap! I know she was doing this "I'm gonna sing live" thing but dude, her voice was wrecked! She performed her single La La and she CHANGED the "racy" lyrics for prime time television. Instead of singing:
You make me want to la la
In the kitchen, on the floor
I'll be a French Maid
When I meet you at the door
She sang:
You make me want to la la
In the kitchen, in the store
I'll bring you lemonade
When I meet you at the door
!!! How dumb is that??? She had a hard time smiling when she was done performing because it sounded like the entire packed stadium was booing at her. Poor Ashlee. I'm not even going to mention the lame Anarchy sign that she used on stage ...
We should move on ... there is video of these abysmal performances available for download. You can download the Kelly Clarkson performance and the Ashlee Simpson performance HERE. If you're looking for the Trace Atkins performance ... sweetie, you're reading the wrong blog.
Britney Spears is such an attention hog. She loves it when the paparazzi follow her around ... here we have my fave diva hamming it up for the cameras as she "works out" in Santa Monica:
You can see more pictures HERE. Hey Sarah, she has the same silver iPod mini that you do!
Here's a shot from the upcoming movie War of the Worlds:
Dakota Fanning does a really good job crying on camera. She really should enjoy the work she's getting now ... I suspect she'll be the new Macaulay Culkin.
In celebration of Star Wars Episode III, Vanity Fair has collected various characters that span the entire series of films for the cover of their next issue:
From Left to Right : Hayden Christensen (Anakin), Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), George Lucas (Director), Natalie Portman (Padme), Yoda, Darth Vader, R2-D2, C-3PO, Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu), Jar Jar Binks, Jimmy Smits (Bail Organa), Christopher Lee (Count Dooku), Liam Neeson (Qui-Gon Jinn), Jake Llyod (young Anakin), Pernilla August (Shmi Skywalker), Ian McDiarmid (Palpatine/Sidious), General Grievous, Billy Dee Williams (Lando), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Chewbacca, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker). See the image larger HERE.
Tonight ABC airs an all-new episode of Lost! This new ep is Kate specific:
So what is Jack getting all huffy about? We'll have to just wait and see ...
The News:
- MTV News reports on Britney's stance on "taking a break."
- BUT, have you heard about Britney's desire to become a CSI agent?
- We Are The World - tsunami style.
- PUSA return as The Presidents.
- Elvis Presley looks to score the 999th #1 in the UK's music chart history.
- Are iPods running our lives?
Alright, back to the grind ... I'm a little tired so this is pretty much how I feel today:
At least I didn't get booed on national television. Ta ta!
NOTE: all links will now open in new windows. You're welcome*!
*Thank you Shan ;)
