This Is Your Lucky Day

First off I have to wish all y'all a Happy St. Patrick's Day ... I'm not sure how many of you have already left work to begin your St. Patty's Day celebrations but I hope y'all have a great, safe day:

Here's hopin' the luck of the Irish touches you today, here's hopin' y'all get lucky tonight and here's hopin' that y'all survive the day to tell the tale.

Britney Spears is back on the mainland ... she was spotted in LA yesterday carrying around a pretty big belly (and her cousin was spotted carrying Sean Preston because, you know, Brit doesn't, like, do that herself):

Pleeeeease let that big stomach NOT be filled with a new kid ... please, please, please! I have to admit, I am very disturbed by these pictures -- you can see her protruding belly button in that third picture ... NOT A GOOD SIGN! UPDATE: A few Pink readers are suggesting that we're seeing her belly piercing and not her belly button -- finally a ray of hope! [Source]

Jessica Simpson made a splash in Washington D.C. yesterday where she showed up at a congressional hearing to pledge her support for Operation Smile, a non-profit group that seeks to aid children with facial deformities. Pink readers Katie, Lexie and Crystal sent in these pictures of Jessica as she made her way thru the halls of our nation's capitol:

Wearing a black cardigan and form-fitting black slacks, her bleached-blonde mane swept back into a knot, Simpson ignored shouted press inquiries about the flap, and kept to her message about the transforming power of plastic surgery in the lives of children with disfigured faces ... "Thank you guys so much for coming out today. I'm here to show my support for Operation Smile," Simpson told dozens of reporter and photographers, flashing her own trademark smile ... "It really changed by life and changed my perspective," she said to see the radically-altered visages of children after their surgeries ... "It was truly spiritual," Simpson said, adding: "The purpose of life is to walk through it smiling." Hmmm it's interesting that Jessica is now talking up her cause to champion. Don't get me wrong, I think it's very cool when celebs lend their fame to a worthy cause. The timing seems a bit ... suspicious. Head on over to the Saving Face forum to see lots of pics from the press conference. [thanks Katie, Lexie and Crystal]

At any rate I also commend Jessica for not showing up at that Republican fundraiser. Even tho Papa Joe Simpson contends that "Jessica loves the heck out of him" (him = GWB) I think it was a very wise decision to keep her DC trip all about the cause she's working for ... and not for any other political reason. Good job, Jess!

What do you suppose goes thru Mary-Kate Olsen's head when she wakes up in the morning (afternoon, whatevs) and picks out clothes to wear? I cannot imagine the thought process that comes up with outfits like this:

LOL. That hat ... is ... ridiculous. I love it! [Source]

UPDATE: A few Pink readers are wondering if the girl in this picture is really Mary-Kate Olsen. Even tho the source link reads "Mary-Kate Olsen at Red Rock bar on Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA" there is some doubt:

Says Pink reader Thomas, "I'm pretty sure it's not MK. She would never carry a bag that inexpensive." to which I'd have to respond touché. Is it her? Could it be Ashley or maybe the other sister?! I guess you be the judge.

I don't normally pay attention to Pete Burns (lead singer for Dead Or Alive) even tho he is pretty hard to ignore but something really struck me about these pictures of the lad lass Pete from the London premiere of Basic Instinct II ...

... how in the hell did he manage to steal this outfit from Mariah Carey? Dude, she is gonna be pissed when she finds out. [Source]

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes made a surprise appearance at Angels Stadium to watch Team USA and Team Mexico play a baseball game ... doesn't that just sound like something that TomKat would want to see? Anyways, the lovestruck couple did their best to make a spectacle of themselves ... right in front of Tom's kids ... and on the jumbotron for the entire stadium to watch:

I think it's far too late for Katie Holmes to be TXTing for help ... she's in too deep by now. Isn't she due to give birth, like, today? [Source]

Hilary Duff played a show in her hometown last night at the 2006 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo -- the world's largest rodeo ... Pink reader Mike was there and sends in these pictures:

Now, I have to admit that I don't know much about rodeos but I had no idea that they would put on concerts right after all of the cow viewin' and calf ropin'. As long as those concerts are family friendly (ya hear that Adam Levine?) it looks like cowboys/girls can enjoy their live music along with their rodeoin'. Yee-haw! [Source, thanks Mike]

Hmmm ... I must've missed the memo that Christina Ricci is playing a pig-nosed girl in her new movie Penelope ...

Wait ... what?! How does this make a for a good movie? I'm totally confused. [Source]

Perry Farrell was in Austin, TX to announce the line-up for this year's 3-day Lollapalooza Festival ... homeboy got himself a whole slew of amazing acts for this year's festival:

Kanye West, Death Cab For Cutie, Ryan Adams, Sonic Youth, Panic! At the Disco, The Go! Team and many, many more are scheduled to perform on 8 different stages this August. Damn, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up adding Madonna to the line-up at some point -- everyone is playing Lollapalooza this year. If you are so inclined, you can already buy your tickets at Lollapalooza.com. [Source]

Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum were on hand at the Teen People party earlier this week ... and, thank ye gods, Channing shaved off all of that bad hair he was sportin':

Oh yeah, he looks much better. [Source]

BUT, I think he looked better still back before he was a famous model/actor. Check out these pictures of a then-unknown Chan Tatum from photographer Terry Estep's website:

If you at all care to read about this photoshoot with Channing from back in the summer of 1998 then you can do so HERE. It's a very interesting read ... but personally, I'm more about the pictures myself. Enjoy! [Source via Source]

Kristin Davis is on the cover of the new issue of Shop Etc. magazine and she is lookin' pretty fly:

I have to admit, I have zero interest in seeing her new movie The Shaggy Dog but she is a cutie nonetheless. And yes, it does appear that she is wearing the same dress that Jennifer Aniston is wearing in her new Vogue photospread. [Source]

Here are a few pictures of Ryan Reynolds from his recent photoshoot with Men's Health magazine ... I believe that a few of them are previously unseen:

Yeah, I'm always down with posting pictures of Ryan. [Source]

And finally, here are a few new pictures from X-Men III: The Last Stand:

I love how dramatic Halle Berry is in her role as Storm. You know she is putting those Oscar winning talents to good use. Bring it on ... I'm ready! [Source]

Newstime:
While I was hanging out with Tracey, Kristy and Zakiya in Ann Arbor I noticed that the State Theater was showing the movie Night Watch. I've been reading about this movie for months now but was unaware that it was being released in US theaters. I found a theater on my side of town that was showing the film and went out to see it last night:

I was afraid that the movie would get pulled since a bunch of new movies were opening today ... I am so glad that I caught this film. It's being billed as a horror film but I would not categorize it as such ... it's more sci-fi and fantasy than horror (even tho there are some gory parts). Right off the bat I loved the cool special effects. The story is very mythic and grand and is well-told -- some things were a bit unclear at first but I attribute that to the fact that movie was subtitled (it's a Russian film). Speaking of the captions ... they did such a good job incorporating the captions into the film. They weren't just text at the bottom of the screen, they were oftentimes incorporated into the action on the screen. This movie is what Underworld wishes it was ... and I really loved the duel plots that turned out to be more touching than I anticipated. I was very satisfied with the ending ... and since this is the first part of a trilogy of films I am very anxious for the next installment. OH and there is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer cameo in the film ... I died! So.Freaking.Cool! If you are interested in checking out this film I'd look around now before it goes away for good ... or you can watch the entire movie in 2 1/2 minutes right HERE.

Um ... it's St. Patrick's Day and I'm not drunk yet ... what the eff is goin' on here?! I keed, I keed ... I'm meeting up with Sarah, Mark and Mike G. to do some Irish celebratin' this evening. I hope y'all have a great day and a great weekend ... I'm out.
