SCOOOOOORE!

So ... the big news of the day is the seemingly surprise announcement that David Beckham has officially signed a new contract to play soccer here in the US for the Major League Soccer team the LA Galaxy. Honestly, I've been hearing buzz that this was a "done deal" for some time now ... I received word from a source on November 28th of last year that the Galaxy deal was, in fact, a reality -- who knows how long this news has been in the works, all that matters is that the word is out and David Beckham is coming to America ... LA to be exact:

David Beckham, the former England soccer captain known as much for his style as his play, has agreed to leave Real Madrid and join the Los Angeles Galaxy in a deal Major League Soccer hopes will boost the sport in the United States in a manner similar to Pele's arrival with the Cosmos in 1975. Beckham will leave Madrid at the end of the season. The move was announced Thursday following the end of talks on extending the 31-year-old English midfielder's contract with the Spanish club. "This week, Real Madrid asked me to make a decision regarding my future and the offer to extend my contract by a further two seasons," Beckham said in a statement. "After discussing several options with my family and advisers to either stay here at Madrid or join other major British and European clubs, I have decided to join the Los Angeles Galaxy and play in the MLS from August this year." Yep, if anything is going to get Americans interested in soccer -- it's David Beckham. I know I'm already interested in checking out a game or two. "He's a cultural icon," former U.S. soccer star Alexi Lalas, the president and general manager of the Los Angeles Galaxy, told the Associated Press in July. "I think that the people that don't know a tremendous amount about soccer know who Beckham is, whether it's the way he looks or who he's married to or what he's done in international soccer. The fact is, he's transcended the sport." The Galaxy opens its season April 8 in Houston. "It's great for the Galaxy, it's great for the league. One of his attractions is he's still playing well," said Real Salt Lake coach John Ellinger. "It's a shame it can't be at the beginning of the season, so you can't avoid him. Most coaches are probably saying "give me my LA games early." If you are ready to purchase season tickets to watch Becks play for the LA Galaxy you can get them HERE. [Source]

Apparently, David and Victoria Beckham are only worth $169 million dollars combined ... this new deal will pay Becks $250 million over 5 years! Um ... wow. Here are a couple of the homes that Victoria Beckham looked at while she was in LA last December:

Obvs, this Galaxy deal has been in the works for a while ... why else would she be seriously looking at new homes to buy here in LA. I can't express how ecstatic I am that Becks and his brood are moving stateside. We welcome him with open arms ... we even welcome his lovely robotic wife (for hopefully one day the bright California sun will short her circuits once and for all). I have already received many, many emails from Pink readers about this news ... there is much excitement that the Beckhams will soon be living in America. [Source]

One last thing, apparently David Beckham will be doing a press conference for the MLS at about 3:30 pm ET today.

Another surprise of sorts today was Madonna's visit to the Today Show this morning to promote her new animated movie Arthur and the Invisibles ... here are a few screen shots from her appearance:

She looked great ... even when interviewer Meredith Vierea bombarded her with images of the "old Madonna" including her infamous kiss with Britney Spears at the MTV VMAs a few years ago. Madonna revealed that she hasn't seen Brit since that fateful night they locked lips ... which may or may not be true, I'm sure she's just trying to distance herself from Britters. [Source]

Here are a few more pictures of Orlando Bloom doing his best surfer impression (without actually surfing) as he chills at the beach with his cousin Sebastian:

You can see a bit of a resemblance between the two ... tho it looks like Orlando got the looks in that family. [Source]

While Marilyn Manson is off fraternizing with young Hollywood "It" Girls, soon-to-be ex-wife Dita Von Teese is keeping a relatively low profile ... here are a couple pictures of the heartbroken burlesque dancer out for a shopping stroll with a male friend:

I suppose this friend could be offering her all kinds of support (of a very private and personal nature) but I tend to think that he is only a friend. Dita never struck me as the type of person to just hook up with anyone -- in fact, I was very surprised when she and MM started going out. I'm a huge MM fan but I have to say I'm deff on Team Dita on this one. [Source]

Paris Hilton is tired of being made fun of because of her acting skills ... so now she started taking serious acting classes -- so that we can make fun of her attempt at trying to fortify her acting skills. Here are a couple pics of Paris as she makes her way to her acting class ... note the thick text book she is clutching to her infamous bosom:

Um ... yeah. Anyways, on her way to class she ran into the paparazzo who helped her out when her brand new Bentley ran out of gas last week and she was kind enough to sign the gas can that he used to fill up her car. I don't care if she ever becomes a serious actress or not ... this kind of fan loyalty is aces in my book! [Source]

Ryan Reynolds took a little trip to the hair salon this week to get his hair cut ... here is the before and the after:

Hmm ... I love it ... it's a great change for him. [Source]

Paula Abdul was honored by the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund with an award last night and Project Runway's Tim Gunn was on hand as Master of Ceremonies to bestow her with this lovely trophy:

Now I gots mad love for Paula ... from way back in the day ... but I never really considered her as a super fashionable person. She always tends to lean towards the tacky end of the spectrum. Unless this award is also a scholarship for her to attend fashion classes, I don't really get what she's being honored for. Oh well ... at least she's getting honored for something ... I think I'm gonna go listen to her Forever Your Girl album and reminisce about her glory days. [Source]

24 fans rejoice ... the moment we have all be waiting for has finally arrived ... the official Kiefer Sutherland 24 action figure is here:

Fans of Fox's 24 this summer finally will be able to see what ever-on-the-run Jack Bauer looks like standing still. Star Kiefer Sutherland will make his debut as a high-end adult action figure. Two months ago, toymaker Todd McFarlane, CEO of McFarlane Toys, spent two hours scanning every facial expression of the actor, who returns in the series' sixth season Sunday and Monday (8 ET/PT). "Kiefer understands the process of being poked and prodded," McFarlane says from Hong Kong's toy fair. "He understands you have to do certain things to get your job done, even if it means having some ancillary product out there." Last Christmas, McFarlane's introductory line of six character figures from ABC's Lost arrived in specialty toy stores. But McFarlane says 24 fans should not expect to pair their Jack figure up alongside likenesses of Jack's CTU colleague Chloe, daughter Kim or President Palmer anytime soon. "24 is going to be a bit different from Lost, because Lost has that ensemble group," McFarlane says. "When you think about 24, you think Kiefer. He's the easy guy to do first ... The initial Bauer figure finds him in a bulletproof vest with his gun raised, "looking for danger," McFarlane says. He estimates it will sell for $10 to $12. Hold up ... I would argue that 24 is INDEED an ensemble cast. Yes, Jack Bauer is the main guy but he wouldn't be able to do much of the stuff he does without his friends -- Chloe O'Brien is integral to Jack's success hour after hour as the story progresses. I'm bummed that they're not making action figures of any of the other 24 characters ... I would definitely make room on my shelf for a miniature version of Chloe. [Source]

Pink reader Maddie tells me that Kylie Minogue is featured in a 6-page photospread in the new issue of Canadian Elle magazine and she sends in these scans:

These photos look like they came from the same photoshoot used for the Aussie Oz version of Elle magazine ... but I'm just glad that Kylie is getting promo on this continent. I've always felt that our (as in US fans) best bet at getting to see a real Kylie Minogue show (the big stage one) would be if she brought it to Canada where she has a huge fan base. Maybe that dream will one day become a reality. [thanks Maddie]

Rodrigo Santoro is on the new cover of the Brazilian version of Rolling Stone magazine and apparently reveals some important spoiler information about his character in the cover story -- WARNING: If you do not want to be spoiled you may want to skip the next section:

Yeah, I can't really understand a word of this ... but I'm told that he reveals that his character will die before the end of season 3 of Lost. Interesting ... I just wish I cared more for the show at this point. [Source, thanks Claudio]

I finally got around to watching the new VH1 show I Love New York and I gotta say ... I love it so far ... Flavor Flav cast-off New York (and her CRAZY moms) has to sort thru 20 men to find "true love" but I don't think she has to look any further than Mr. Romance:

Absent the fact that I love that the boy is incapable of buttoning up his shirt and prolly goes thru 2 1/2 cans of hair product a day ... can I just say that I also love that he cries every time New York even looks his way. He is DEFF my fave dude on the show ... I'm pretty sure she won't end up picking him -- but I am looking forward to watching his hysterical crying when he finally gets the ax. [Source]

Abercombie and Fitch have unleashed their Spring line upon the world ... in case anyone cares:

I am very sad to report that the official website is very light on the nekkid men this time around. These two pictures are the only ones I could find. First they nix the amazing A&F catalog and now they skimp out on us by withholding the hot pics on the website. Damn, how do they expect to sell any clothes this way? [Source]

Les News:
Last night was extremely chill for me ... I'm in full-on decorating mode and am having a blast arranging my apartment with all my new little acquisitions. My problem is that I like the minimalistic look ... but then I get bored with it ... so when I start procuring objects for decorating purposes I never know when to stop and then things get too cluttered. I'm trying to find the right balance ... maybe I should give Nate Berkus a call or something ...

... at any rate, I feel that things are coming along nicely.

Tonight I have a thing to go to ... it promises to be a fun shindig so I'll have deets tomorrow. And I guess that is all ... I'm out.
